Show your Christmas trees!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Post here! We would love to see your christmas tree!

We put our 2 trees up already. Yesterday, I finished decorated the tree. The 9 ft tree, it took me two weeks to finish it. Those most of decorates was bought from last year and saved in a box. This 9 ft tree is pre- lighted ( 900 lights). Well, Matt ( 15 months old son) broke few glass ornaments... :o( Now he know he would get spank if he touch that tree again! lol.. He know how to tease me like he was trying to touch the ball and act like he didn't touch it. LOL..

I will put post 2nd tree later. I need to change that top of tree( 6.5 ft) I dont like the star on the top of tree, look ugly. That star's going to the Garage sale! Period! lol,

I put ours up on Thursday and decorated it yesterday. I'll have to get a picture and post it.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Howie, are u going to put lights on the house? LOL! He he he

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

On Saturday I put the outside lights up on the house. They were predicting snow, and I'm going to be gone next weekend so I figured I'd rather do it in 40 mph wind than snow. We won't turn them on until Thanksgiving is over though. I believe in letting the turkey have his day first.

I still have to put up the rest of the outside decorations, but I'm awaiting some that I ordered to come. I decided I didn't have enough. ;) DH is saying bad things under his breath already, and he doen't even know that I'm searching high and low for a 6 foot lighted santa that's not inflated. There has to be such a thing somewhere, and if there is, I'll find it.

The inside decorations will start going up after the first of December.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Lights bah hum bug! LOL

I'm waiting for Kimberley to do that. Here is our tree all decked out. I did it this year. Kimberley has been under the weather. What thanks do I get for it but her cold. LOL It's so hard to get a good picture of the tree.

MiniSchnuz and Howie....I like your trees! I think they are very pretty! Wow! MS you have 4! That's cool! You and I do not live that far from one another. We live close to Lafayette.

Modi'in, Israel

very pretty trees!

Howie you deserve a medal for making such a pretty tree! I know this sounds horribly sexist, but I've never met a make who could trim a tree so prettily! All the males I know do the "throw tinsel in huge blobs" thing and that's about it. GREAT JOB! :-) Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks Julie. I've decorated many trees in my life and it is a labor of love. I have even went to friends and familys house and done there trees for them. I am a Christmas nut.

By the way Tricia your trees look wonderful.

Howie.. maybe you need to ask my girl that would do it for you to set up lights around house.. She done on mine. She climbed on ladder and put lights on. Believe or not, she is 12 yrs old! OFC, I was there to watch her close if she fell down. She did it all herself with little help from me.

Very pretty, and love your "bubble lights". I wish we still had our old ones.

Another view, The brown stars are made from paper bags and sewn and stuffed. there are also green and white ticking stars, red ceramic chilli peppers and woven indian mats. There is a lasso rope garland and a cowboy Santa star with a lasso rope around a little pony on top. It has been fun creating the different ornaments in a southwestern theme.

For the past several years we have gotten a live tree in 5 to 20 gal nursery pots......they spend 10 days or so in the garage, and a couple additional days being moved in and out of the house for temp adjustment, before being placed in the family room and decorated. They will spend about 10 days as our 'Christmas tree' before we reverse the process and get them ready to go outside.
By the middle of January it will be planted in the yard or into a perminant patio pot.
Going out this weekend to try and find this years tree.....not sure yet what we want.
I'll post a pic after we find one. :-)

Marc

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

What a fantastic idea, Marc! Having a real, sweet smelling Christmas Tree without chopping one down, and then adding beauty to your yard after the holiday season is over. That way you can walk around for years to come and remember which tree was which Christmas. Cool, I like that! :D

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

We like it a lot.......we figure by the time we retire we can chop them all down sell the board wood and live in rich splender (NOT!!!!) :-)
I'll post a couple pix later of past trees if you like.......................

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

LOL You wouldn't dare! Although, I can see where it would be a viable retirement plan! If you have the time, I am sure we'd all love to see some past trees. As a matter of fact, how about some inside and some outside in the yard??

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a picture of my tree in the pets forum, but I'm happy to put it here too. That is Merlin lying beneath it. The wood shelves didn't have any decorations on them at the time of this picture, but they do now. Maybe tomorrow I can take some more pictures.

Howie, Nice tree! To me, it look like Mardi gras tree! I love Christmas too.. Oh, I almost forget that I have something to send to ur wife.

Carencro, LA(Zone 8b)

I posted this pic in the pet forum, but wanted to post it here, too. This pic doesn't really do the tree justice. We sure are enjoying it. We have one of those fiber-optic trees in the front of the house that our neighbor gave to us, and Grayse chews on the fiber-optic filaments like crazy, but seems to leave the real tree along, for the most part, anyways.

Nice tree grayse2. I've always wanted to do live tree. Just never have.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Me either.. never have real tree! I know they do smell good. Today at Walmart, I went for christmas shopping.. I passed thru in the garden center and saw the real live weath. OH it smell so good I wanted to buy.. but it wont last longer..It cost $9 with some cents. Pretty. It dont sting. It is soft fir.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I doubt I will have a tree this year, not much space and all my decorations are in my storage unit. I did put up clear rope lights in one of my 2 big windows, though. Looks wonderful at night.

I bought enough of them to line both sides of the path from the driveway down to my apt., which is about 80 feet. Hard to navigate it after dark and there are NO lights on that side. I think they will look pretty cool all year long.

I'll post a photo after I get them installed, in a few days.

Carencro, LA(Zone 8b)

MiniSchnuz...thank you for the compliment, that was nice, and yes, a real tree smells so wonderful, that's one of the main reasons I get them. I just love that smell, and it really brings back good childhood memories of some awesome Christmas' then.

Darius....please do post a pic once all of your lights are installed, I bet they'll look totally awesome, and they do make for good lighting. We have them around the front of our camp, and they help when it gets dark to see where we are walking, and what we are doing. I love the white lights, too.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Here's my tree this year. I only put up the 4' instead of the big 7' until all the repairs from the flood last year are done.

I'm happy to say that none of the kitties bother with it, except Pixie who likes to sleep on the tree skirt. Good thing too, cause it's almost all blown glass ornaments ( I have a weakness for them)... even on the bottom ;)

Edited to say: I also collect santas :) I have a bunch that didn't get put out... again until the repairs are done, there just isn't enough room to put them in this room where they belong.
