Date and time is strange

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I'm sure it is due to daylight-saving time, but the time has not changed yet (in my area EST). As I type this my computer clock says it is 12:07 a.m. 10/31/04. Will see what DG comes out as...It appears to be an hour ahead instead of behind..... Kathy

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

It's off for me, too. Time change is supposed to be 2 AM. The DG time clock shows 1:16 when my clocks and computer show 12:16.

I haven't set any clocks back yet, although my computer does it automatically at 2 AM.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Spring forward, fall backward... right?

My computer says 9:24 p.m. (PST), my clocks are already set back to 8:24 p.m., and I'm predicting that Kathy's post will be at 10:01 p.m. (PST)... just a funny premonition I have... ;)

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

computers system clocks always change time at midnight in whatever time zone you have it set for.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

DG time officially happens at EST- that is when the birthdays show up for everyone. We are all just playing catch up right????

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Yes, but Pville, why did it go ahead one hour, it should've gone backwards. :)

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

and my cookies arent working which is baffling me even more!! LOL My watched threads are not going away unless I post in them.....

What year is it??

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

That's weird...The DG time in the upper portion of the page says it's 1:44am, yet Kathy's post says it went up at 2:22am. Must have been after the time change? I have 1:46am on my system clock...Daylight savings doesn't kick in until 2:00am, right? I'm just going to bed, LOL!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

It's 2004 Daisy!! Why are you "away"
Maria

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

oops dunno lemme look Maria.

My cookies work now FYI

Every 6 months I have to go in and manually change the timezones (I really need a better way). Therefore, the time didn't change until I took care of it this morning.

It should be all taken care of now - if your time is still wrong, please let me know.

(And what a surprise it was to wake up at my normal 6am and find that it was in fact 5am!! A free hour!!)

Testing, 1, 2, 3 :)

Dave, My computer clock now says 7:47 a.m. but this posted time is 8:36 (?). It is now listing the time it was before 2:00 a.m. :) Kathy

Isn't there a classic rock song, someone singin 'bout time, I think the opening line is, "Time has come today", and in the middle of the song you hear a clock ticking?

What an interesting thread Kathy.

We...... mine has the right time...if the rest of the US would quit fooling with their time it would be correct...like us here in AZ...that doesn't change time!! LOL Jo

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Mine is oaky this morning.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Mine still wasn't right, as of about 11:00 EST this morning; I thought we had to change it ourselves in our preferences, so I did and now it's fine. But maybe we don't have to? We've been mulling this over in the Canadian forum too....not quite sure what to do.

Misty...because your computer fell back an hour at midnight 10/31. On DG time (central) it was still 11 pm on 10/30. So even if DG servers fell back automatically, they would not have done so until an hour after you originally posted.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I think Misty said her time was still off this morning, hours after even the west coast changed - ?

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

Misty, check the time zone setting in your preferences. The message that you said you posted at 7:47 this morning posted as 6:39 to me, which is correct given the one hour difference between EST and CST.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Does this mean that we should be manually changing our time zone in our Preferences, when the clocks change? That's what I did earlier today, to get my display back to normal. It's no problem if we do, just wondering.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Actually, I think DG time is EST - Dave is physically located in the US Central Time Zone, but not the servers. (Ain't technology grand?)

And if I read his thread above properly, the problems reported were the result of us each having our own time zones in our preferences, and those don't update automatically when the time change takes place ;o)

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

mine did Terry. I am showing correct CST both on my system clock and DG posts without having changed anything.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

I posted a reply to a question last night and it showed up 33 minutes before Greta asked the question!! LOL How did that happen?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Most of us didn't notice or experience a problem because Dave was an early bird and re-set the preference clocks to their proper time bright and early this morning ;o)

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

you ARE psychic, Daisy. lol ...My time adjusted itself to the correct time without me changing anything.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Testing 1,2,3 again :) It is now 4:17 according to my computer. I am EST, an hour ahead of you Pville.

See, it says 5:11. It should be around 3:11 in your real time Pville.

Your post shows as going up at 4:11pm on my screen, Kathy.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Now isn't that the dangest thing! Yours says 5:14. We may be narrowing this down. I will check my preferences and see if I put down England time...LOL

My preferences were for EST. I don't understand why mine comes up a different time than yours GW.

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

and it does show up as 3:11 my time since I am CST and that is what I have it set for.

and my post was at 3:27 CST so it should be showing up on your's Misty as about 4:27 EST

We've determined that I might be the only one on DG with messed up time on my screen, but as I type your posting says 5:27. :)

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

Misty...it must be something on your system that has not been updated it to EST and is still showing EDT. Do you run anything other applications on start up that could be overriding your system clock? Have you rebooted your system since last night? Not sure what else to suggest..

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

I always give something like that 24hrs to clear up. I'm amazed at the number of people so deeply concerned over a date-time stamp in the corner. And so quickly too.

As a non-computor geek I accept the idea that magic sometimes runs afoul - as long as I can get to DG's I can figure who's answering who when... Knew from beginning it was Stnd Time mixup left it alone, it got better ROFLMBO ~Blooms

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

My computer is on right time, it is just my DG postings and everybody elses that doesn't have the correct time on my computer. Maybe its because its Halloween :)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Not deeply concerned, Blooms, just curious! :-)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

As I post this, DG's time above shows it is 7:33pm (and I am on EST).

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Same here, but I had to change my time zone in my Preferences to make it happen. From EDT to EST. I'm still not sure we've got all the clocks in the house changed....good thing this only happens twice a year! :-)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Spklatt, my sentiments exactly. If I need to know what time it is, I can look at my computer, just thought the postings time were strange. I'll let you know if the kinks work out. :)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, I went back into my preferences and changed my time zone to Eastern STANDARD Time and all is well now. I just knew that there was a kink somewhere. All fixed. Thanks. :) K

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good thing we got this sorted out, otherwise how would we get on with our lives, eh? :-) Boy it was nice to wake up to some daylight again this morning, but on the other hand it was dark by 5:00. Hmph.
