Garden Angel Fund Quilt raffle

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

The Garden Angel Quilt is now finished and was unveiled last weekend at the KYRU. There are several threads floating around with bits and pieces of information, so I'm putting everything on one thread to make things easier.

Last Spring, member LimeyLisa suggested that a quilt to benefit the Garden Angel Fund might be a great project for some of us to do. She worked up a design, and I went and bought fabric. Quilters signed on and we had ourselves a project.

For those who are not familiar with the Garden Angel Fund, it's a special account set up to pay for subscription of members in need, or for our international friends who might find the rate of exchange too steep to afford. There have been projects to raise money for this fund, most recently was Ursula's gift of seeds from Chile for GA donations.

The quilters were given 4 pieces of fabric and everyone created a floral quilt block. These were sent to LimeyLisa who constructed the quilt top and sent it to KY, where YoYo1 quilted it. We had originally decided to machine quilt it, but when she saw this beautiful labor of love, she knew that it deserved hand quilting.

The quilters involved were
LimeyLisa
Melody
Kathleen
Hostanquilts
YoYo1
Elsie
Heather_v

I have an account with paypal. How do I pay for these tix on paypal?? When I went to paypal to try sending the payment, it asks for email address for recipient; and that would be??

Help is appreciated!

How are we doing for sales and funding the Angel Fund?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Quilt raffle total as of this morning is at 785.00....that's just the quilt...nothing else.

(and I added it without an adding machine...so I may be off by a little....but not much..We're closing in on 800.00 any way you look at it)

Let's go gang! Let's push the total over the 1000.00 mark!

Crossville, TN

Hi Pebble, glad you like the quilt. here's the last thread over in Crafts where we finished it. It gives close-ups of the blocks and tells who made them.

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

I've seen it in person and it's stunning. What a delight to have such talented folks on this website.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

You guys (All DGers) are just amazing. What a lovely quilt. For such a great fund.

What size is it? Baby crib or single bed size. Can't quite work that out.

The NALS (North American Lily Soc) has a tie which is auctioned off each year, with proceeds going to research for the dread lily beetle. The winner gets to wear the tie for a year, then has to bring it back to be reauctioned again. It is a really fun thing to do.

Inanda,

The quilt is actually wall hanging size. And let me tell you, the pictures posted in NO WAY do it justice!! It is absolutely beautiful!!!

Trish

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

How many tickets have been sold now? I know the deadline will be here before we know it.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Actual measurments are 39 1/2" x 50"

There is a sleeve on the back for a rod to go in for hanging. It is meant for a wall hanging piece of 'art' and hopefully Trish is enjoying it's stay in Texas in just this manner.

Are there any plans in the works for another one to be made? Possibly a queen size quilt this time?

I'd love to be part of making squares for it if there are.....

Just ran across this thread. WOW, what lovely work you ladies have done. What a cool idea to replenish the Angel Fund. My check is on the way.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

what does "sticky" mean, at the top of the thread, on the left????????

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

It means it's 'sticking' to the top of all the threads and doesn't go down as posts are made on it.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

ok - it could have implied something else, so I wanted to check, lol! I can't afford to do the raffle right now anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter. But it is beautiful - and I'm happy to see such high proceeds coming from the hard work and talent that went into it!

Valley Village, CA

I happy to see such a high level of quilting skills. I glad that quilting is alive and going strong, my happiest moments were sitting by my mom watching her quilt for hours, she made one a year. Carasulady2

Any update on how much money raised so far?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

That's the cut off date gang....get your checks to Dave and Trish before then!
