Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

When I woke up this morning, this was just going to be a day like many others. I sat down at the computer while Frank made breakfast and bang - the telegram window popped up. It was Kell to say good morning and tell me the news! WOW!!! I was first flabbergasted and then doing the happy dance here!!! Even Minka and Fritzchen got a kiss from me lol!
I knew, that there would be double pinks coming out of those crosses but I didnt expect them to bloom so quick!
Congratulations Shirley and a big Thank you and (((((HUGHS))))) to you for growing this one and other seedlings and I am a little proud, that the seedlings parents, which I also have hybridized, are reproducing so well and to see, that you all are very happy with the result of it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Everyone, especially Monika for sharing. Hey Monika, I sure never thought they would make bloom this year, so it was a nice surprise when I started seeing Y's. These seedlings were started on Feb. 14, so they came along very nicely. I can't wait for the sun to come out so I can go take another picture. I can see lots of fog hanging in the valleys this morning, so I'm sure it is really wet out there right now.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

February 14th... well isn't that appropriate - Valentine's Day!!

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Wow! That is beautiful, congratulations to you both.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Okay, here is an updated picture of the wind whipped double pink. LOL! It is poofy looking in person. Hangs down like a versicolor and without color would remind me of Creamsickle but not as big. Monika said that since this is a fall bloom, it could be darker and larger next summer. Wouldn't that be great?

Absolutely gorgeous and I love the shape this morning and how both skirts turn up and show all their splendor. I am still so excited this morning and I know you must be because you get to go out and look and stare at it. It must be overwhelming to think you have the 1ST U.S. DOUBLE PINK brug and it could not have happened to a nicer person than you.

Monika thank you for your friendship and making this possible.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Gosh! Its just perfect! Looks like the color is going up the corolla tube some more. I can NOT even imagine it darker! Oh I hope the winter hurries up and does its thing, and yields a wonderful summer for you next year.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I had to go wash my eyes out, because I thought I was seeing double because something was wrong with them. Oh my gosh, I can't believe it. You are one lucky woman, Shirley. No one deserves it more, and I'm so very happy for you. Hopefully, someday we will all have this one or another double pink growing in our gardens thanks to you, Monika and all you other hardworking hybridizers. Wow, wow, wow!

Shirley, You did a good job.So many variable's can happen when you grow these from seed, Everyone thinks just put it in soil and water it. There is the right planting medium the correct temp.bottom heat, water just right ,watch for damp off/ sizing up on pots, feeding, sun and keep out the bugs. Shirey you did a really great job and,I will watch this with great interest. These plants have been a life interest for me. Congrats and celebrate - cinnabor

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Everyone. I only grew the seed. It is Monika that deserves the credit.

Margie, I'll try to get a copyright put on a picture and post it later this evening. Have to go check my brugs for water right now.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't generally name a brug so quickly, but this is the first double pink born in the USA that I know of and it is here because of a great lady willing to do some extra crosses to share with some of the USA. Because of her generosity and for all the things she has done for all of us....I'm naming this brug Monika.

To Monika.......I had a lot of help naming this one my friend. LOL! You know who was in on it. Thank you for allowing US to name this one in your honor.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

What a perfect name....congratulations to both of you.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Long may she grace our gardens!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Shirley, this morning I spent my time on my way to work wondering what names were going through your head. I kept trying to think of a 'really great name' and didn't come up with anything outstanding. But I have to say.....Monika is the best and most beautiful name for this beauty! It is a wonderful tribute to a MOST WONDERFUL LADY!!! Great job!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Perfect name for a perfect brug and Lady!
Now Shirley, have you moved her away from the other brug riffraff? She really should be on a pedestal you know.
