Map of U.S. subscribers

A lot of folks signup a membership just so they can post a comment in the Garden Watchdog. We get a lot of that.

Also, some people want to upload a photo to PlantFiles and then be on their way. Others just want a garden diary or journal. For all these, the site is completely free and we're very happy to have them using the free features of the site. We want it to be useful for everyone, regardless of whether they pay anything to us or not.

Now, if they want the forums, they can pay. :-)

I was a member for a full year before I subscribed.
There's not a lot of gardening in Canada in the winter ;-(
and I had to get to a point where I decided it was worthwhile
for ME to become a subscriber.

Seems to me, having some things available without subscribing is a good way to attract people who may eventually decide to become subscribers. I guess Dave could tell whether there are many like me who are members for some time before they take the next step.

I joined because of a google search I did on a particular bush and I wanted to read the comments about a photo. It was the best $15 I ever spent. All I wanted was one bush, not to be a gardener, now I have this great new hobby and so many new friends :)

Same here, I joined after our puppy had eaten a poisonous plant, DH was using google to find some help since the vet didn't know anything about it! A DG Vet was able to answer our questions in a hurry, puppy is now a 1 1/2 old, and here I stayed hooked every since, so much great help from so many caring folks of one love, gardening, I'm now putting together my 1st RU after going to the great one in Temecula, I'm so excited, the best community I have ever joined!!!!!!
Thanks to all of you,
Annie

I use the Zipcode search http://davesgarden.com/pf/zipbyzip.php then put my zip code in. When I come to a plant I know I didn't report, I see who did. Now we can Save Draft in D-mail I'll be saving them there, or in a garden diary.
I found Jeremy, JaxFlaGardener there, just 8 blocks away and one of my new close friends.
I have thought of getting a 2' x 3' map of the US and putting a map pin where those I chat with live.
This site is a Godsend for many of us. Thanks Dave.

I can't pinpoint my dot, but it's nice to see such a great red glob over Puget Sound! I'm trying to round up some more people here. (And Karrie, Spokane's back in Washington!)

langbr, what a neat idea to compare the DG map to a population density map! That's interesting.

Thanks, Dave!

San Benito, TX(Zone 9b)
