Wow I just love this thread, so interesting, and Dave that is a wonderful job on the map!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Any chance of updating that map with the overlay you did? It's so unique !

Valrico, FL(Zone 9b)

Or what about integrating it with the new google MAPI since it's open source? I've seen some really interesting apps come out in the last coupl of weeks, since Google launched that.

BuriedTreasures, you read my mind. :-) I started working on that a few days ago but ran out of time. :)

Midland, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow, I see my dot. Kewl, Dave!

waaaa
lol

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

I wonder where this map originated, since the town of Charlestown appears to have the largest font! lol

Oakland, OR(Zone 8a)

Considering what a great state for gardening Oregon is, I am feeling a little lonely. Wonder if it's lack of interest, lack of knowledge or lack of time? For that matter, perhaps a lack of people on the net? Don't know, but am sure all those not on DG don't know what they are missing. Thanks, Dave, for all the new goodies you keep giving us. Dotti

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Wow Dave, I can see my dot, and it's in the right place... but then there are only 3 dots in the whole of Utah.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

There's more and more of us Oregonians popping up all the time, Dotti. Don't feel lonely....we're right here with you! :-)

Mendy

Moon Twp, PA(Zone 6a)

Is it possible to get an updated map? I am sure there are many more members now than a year ago! I'm curious, did this one include everyone or just the paying subscribers? Thanks Dave for a great website!

thanks, Suzi :)

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Glad to see 'my' spot is now south of the MN border - last map it was north of the border. LOL

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm still up there in the northern prairie all alone, right at the top of the big yellow void. :(

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Joan that's no way to talk about Nodak LOL

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

LOL!

Well, if nothing else, my dot really stands out. No need to wonder which one I am.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Hey, you can tell exactly where I am! In that big red blob right above the word Georgia! lol

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Looks like Mississippi is not named on the map. I think there are lots of us .

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

Alabama is not named either? I know I'm here! LOL

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

LOL you guys!!!! We know we're here, and that's what counts, LOL,
Annie

McGregor, IA(Zone 4b)

Wahhhhh! Can't find my dot! Or is it too small to see? What do the brown and the red areas represent - a certain density of members? Very intriguing!

Dansville, NY(Zone 6a)

There all red splotches , when i overlayed the 2 maps i got a color shift
on some of the dots.

Remember that the map is a year old!! I can make a new map but it won't be very soon.

dave

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Great, looking forward to it, How many new members have you added on since then?
Annie

I don't really know, actually. Quite a few though; at least a thousand.

dave

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

New members is pretty easy to calculate - I went to the MemberList and did a quick tally of new members who joined in August '04, forward.

The total: 59,405 added since last August, at least as of this moment ;o)

Starkville, MS

Aw heck, Dave, at DG's growth rate in the last year, just color the whole darn map red and say, HERE YOU ALL ARE!!!!!

ginni

Good call, Terry. I wonder if you can tell how many are subscribers?

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Wow!!!!!!! Quite an honorable number!!!!!! Subscribers would be great,
Thanks Terry,
Annie

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Yeah but I was being lazy. It takes a couple more clicks on each month to figure that out....looks like 2,169 and counting.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Pretty amazing numbers :) And it keeps on growin' !!

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Wow!!! So how can We make members be subscribers, LOL!!!
For the amount of money, it sure is worth being able to navigate fully!!!
Annie

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Really, the membership fee is much less than a good garden book, and I learn much more from folks who have actually planted something I am interested in that any garden book could teach me.
