Wow I just love this thread, so interesting, and Dave that is a wonderful job on the map!!

Any chance of updating that map with the overlay you did? It's so unique !

Or what about integrating it with the new google MAPI since it's open source? I've seen some really interesting apps come out in the last coupl of weeks, since Google launched that.

I wonder where this map originated, since the town of Charlestown appears to have the largest font! lol

Considering what a great state for gardening Oregon is, I am feeling a little lonely. Wonder if it's lack of interest, lack of knowledge or lack of time? For that matter, perhaps a lack of people on the net? Don't know, but am sure all those not on DG don't know what they are missing. Thanks, Dave, for all the new goodies you keep giving us. Dotti

Wow Dave, I can see my dot, and it's in the right place... but then there are only 3 dots in the whole of Utah.

There's more and more of us Oregonians popping up all the time, Dotti. Don't feel lonely....we're right here with you! :-)

Is it possible to get an updated map? I am sure there are many more members now than a year ago! I'm curious, did this one include everyone or just the paying subscribers? Thanks Dave for a great website!

Wahhhhh! Can't find my dot! Or is it too small to see? What do the brown and the red areas represent - a certain density of members? Very intriguing!

There all red splotches , when i overlayed the 2 maps i got a color shift
on some of the dots.

Remember that the map is a year old!! I can make a new map but it won't be very soon.

I don't really know, actually. Quite a few though; at least a thousand.

New members is pretty easy to calculate - I went to the MemberList and did a quick tally of new members who joined in August '04, forward.

The total: 59,405 added since last August, at least as of this moment ;o)

Aw heck, Dave, at DG's growth rate in the last year, just color the whole darn map red and say, HERE YOU ALL ARE!!!!!

Yeah but I was being lazy. It takes a couple more clicks on each month to figure that out....looks like 2,169 and counting.

Really, the membership fee is much less than a good garden book, and I learn much more from folks who have actually planted something I am interested in that any garden book could teach me.
