binky, in my rush to get to the post office, I failed to include the note indicating who your box was from. My apologies! I hope the plants made it safely.
Secret cactus and succulent Trade
Binky I can hardly wait to see what ya got!!!! (nosey me)
What is it? The gift that keeps giving? That would be my secret trader, a very generous and thoughtful lady. I have some things to die for, and very wicked. Got my prickle proof gloves out and ready. The line up is:
Turkshead Barrel cactus
Iceplant-hardy (I say hardy because it seems to like me and that's sometimes "hard" to do.)
Nipple Cactus
Horse Crippler!!!
Texas Rainbow
I am so tickled to get all these wonderful plants. I really love them all!
Thanks very much ((((((((Leeann)))))))))) and many thanks to (((((((Jan)))))) for thinking of and hostessing this trade.

You made a haul too. Hasn't this been fun everyone?
I still show 4 that have yet to receive their packages. Please be sure to post as soon as you receive them.
we'll have to do this again sometime. Maybe at Christmas time.
I think I will have recovered by then. Heheh. Not really, I think that this went very smoothly considering all the different zones we had to consider.
Thank you all for taking part in this. I really enjoyed doing it.
Jan

I recieved you box Fri. Larkie everything arrived very nicely. Thankyou for all the time and effort you took to select and send these lovely plants. Could you please tell me if they are all hardy here in zone 5 as some are not named and I am planning on planting them outside in various beds. You packed them beautifully!!
Cathy
Yw Catbirdsue...I thought I marked the ones that were hardy..I guess I forgot..I'll have to look up what I sent.. I marked the named ones that I knew, others unknown.
Larkie
My deepest THANKS to Nan for sponsoring this secret trade.
I had so much fun! Never had any of the sedums before except Autumn Joy.
I can't thank the person who gave me all of the sedums and hen and chicks enough, plus cactus!! It was better than Christmas.
Now I will be on the hunt for my Orchid or epi cactus.
Maxine Have a great Sunday, all you wonderful LADIES!!!!
Allright, I know I mailed mine out on Tuesday, confirmed delivery!!! There's only 2 people left, it was supposed to arrive within 3 days at the most, fess up, lol. I'm gettin worried over here, please ;0)!!
marlatt8 I will post planting directions later as I don't have separate lines and waiting for a call. Hope you liked them as I had nothing you listed.
Sandy
I am SO sorry....I had Annie (Hanna1) singing the blues way out in California (Bet THAT went over "well"! lol)
It was unintentional. I was away on vacation and just got back to a big box filled with wonderful goodies! A LOT of them!! I wonder if she left anything in her yard too!
Thank you so much for your gracious generosity! You have a huge heart!
My box is off to the north and I apologize for making my tradee wait.
Thanks Jan for all your hard work!
Yvonne
I got a wonderful assortment of both. I have never seen some of them. I put them all in the same pot only to learn I need a pot that is bigger around. I didn't even count the teenie things but I am thrilled with them. My husband was amazed all those came out of that box. He loves them and so do I. THANKS!!!!
marlatt8 as you can see my favorites are the zig zag, ric rac and the epiphylliums. All you need to do with them since I am sure the end is sealed over is put them in some potting soil and keep moist and they will root. They like well draining soil.
I would love to know more about the zig zag and ric rac.
The zig zag has never bloomed for me. It is the only one I have ever seen. I haven't seen it or the ric rac in nurseries since I got them around 12 years ago. The pencil cactus you can just stick in well draining potting soil and it will root and mine is 5 foot tall. If any pieces broke off just let the end cure over and stick it in the dirt and it also will take off.
As for the long piece of epi I sent you can cut it in several pieces and let it set 2 on 3 days till the end cures over and stick the pieces in thedirt. As you see there are roots everywhere. You could stick the end in soil and just lay the rest on top and it will take off. You will love its blooms they are white and 12 inches across. The smell is heavenly. It blooms at night and is called Queen of the night. I really hope you enjoy these.
Sandy
To ILJ...Sorry about the small box...I learned something about priority mail on this trade...bigger box next time and can put bigger starts...but glad you like them. The 'Rat Tail' Aporocactus 'flagelliformis' will make a beautiful hanging pot covered with hot pink blooms in early spring if hung under the eaves so it gets reflective heat from the wall..protect from frost. The 'Angel Wing' Opuntia is a fast grower, probably will need it's own pot fairly soon...Kalanchoe 'Chocolate Soldier" will stay brown if it gets sun....and all the rest can tolerate full sun, as well....and the echinopsis will spread rapidly in it's own pot..has beautiful pink blooms if in the sun..About 4-5" across.. . just a couple of thoughts..ENJOY!!! janet
Oh Janet didn't need a bigger box I am thrilled. Just could not believe how wonderful they are. Thanks so much.
Hope I get you again.
Sandy
YTRN
Thank you. I just got mine. There is a big round cactus and I do mean big with nasty thorns, a cactus that is white and green (I have never seen a variegated cactus before) and another green one. Thank you so much. I know they will be happy in my cactus pot. Well I might have to get a bigger pot for the round one. Do you know the name of any of them Yvonne? It is okay if you don't.
HoniBee, The big round one is a barrel cactus. I don't know the name of the variegated one...I need to find out as it is supposedly rare.
Hope you enjoy!
Oh, I heard a new saying that cacti are finger-STICKING good! Lol That one proved it when I was trying to pack it!
Yvonne
ytrn, You are So welcome, sounds like you like Cactus, the one I sent you keeps making baby ones, bunch of round spicky spheres, lol, so glad you like them. Could you post a pic of of this variagated one, I'm curious!
Hey guys, I'm ready to do again!! This was so much fun.
Jan, thanks for all your hard work and dedication!!!!
Well, I just got back from Mayo hospital today. Had a liver biopsy done that went terribly wrong. Mega pain and ended up staying overnight with a morphine drip IV. Won't be on line for a couple of days till I can see and think straight again. I hope that everyone got their boxes and all is happiness at Daves Garden.
Thank you all for your great response and participation. I look forward to doing this again when everyone is ready.
Thanks again
Jan
WOW! Jan...I hope you get better soon...my thoughts & prayers are with you
Hugs Carol
Jan, please rest and take care of yourself. I sure wish you did not have to go through this.
Jan, Sure hope you get to felling better real soon. I went thu a kidney biopsy about 10 years ago. so have a idea of what you are going thu. Please take care of yourself. We miss having you to chat with. My prayers are with you. :( Mary
Sope you are feeling better. Sorry you are having so much pain. Take care.
Sandy
Thank you all for your well wishes, I am feeling much better today. Now that the drugs have worn off a bit I can even see straight and think straight. I used to work in the emergency room of a hospital on the central coast of Oregon where I got a needle stick and developed Hepititis C. Now I have to go through treatment very much like Chemo at least as far as the side effects go. Hair loss, weight loss, nausea, no energy etc. etc. But I don't have to start that till next week so I am enjoying everyday till then. This will be my third go around with treatment. There is no cure unfortunately. That's what I get for trying to be a health service provider. Heheh.
Thanks again you all for your kind words.
Oh Jan, I certainly feel for you! Seems like there should be some sunshine in store for you?
I have FM and CFS and that lays me low some day, or some days all the time.
Hope you are enjoying each day as it comes. God will be watching out for you.
Maxine

I am sorry you got stuck by a needle and caught this awful disease. I know you are having a rough time but I want to thank you for all the lives you touched. I know truely all of those lives patients and families thank God you were there and could not have made it without you.
Blessings,
Sandy
TJ...hope you are feeling much better by today...that's quite a burden you have to bear and with such grace....thanks for taking the time with your full plate to bring so much joy to all of us in this trade group...it's been so much fun...we're all ready to do it again...THNQ...someone in the group must have done one of these, or you could give one of us some pointers on how to do it so you could just enjoy.. :P) Janet
