Trees & Shrubs co-op this fall?

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Okay, I give up. Where is that spray head? I noticed that you have most of your pots elevated off the ground. I bought some little clay feet to do that, too, but I'm not sure why. I hate it when people ask me questions I don't know the answer to. lol

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Look closely right above the red begonias in the middle of the photo, just under the Medinilla leaf, in among the light great scented geraniums. This one spray head ($.98) covers all the plants in this pic. Timer goes on every morning 3 am for 30-45 minutes dep. on weather. This entire garden is one the one timer running from one main line.

DD, what is the plant on the right side, tall with burgundy/green leaves? It's a beauty.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

Sorry, DD. Didn't mean to direct that question towards you in particular. I will try to remember to use my return key better. Just thought that someone on this forum would be able to glance at the above list and easily answer.

If you mean in the first pic, that's my coveted Red Kong Coleus. New coleus series that has been causing so much hype over on Annuals. Check out thread:http://davesgarden.com/t/442626/

Quite amusing thread - just shows how crazy plant people really are. (including self) Here's a quick leaf size comparison between regular sun coleus Solar Sunrise and Kong Mosaic....the S.S. is about 4 inches long to give you the idea why all the frenzy.

BTW any advice on which of these trees would make good bonsai now that crimsontavo has sucked me into that whole side of things? I may up my order...

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I know it's been a while since I've posted here, but I thought I'd let you-all know that I've submitted the co-op application form; it's set to open 8/15 ;o)

Woo Hoo! I was just thinking that I needed to bump up this thread and see if it was a go. Was the list above paired down? Will you post the exact species and cultivar? My yard is small, but definitely could use some more trees. I may try growing some in containers on my patio as well. I am also in need of some shade tolerant shrubs.

Let's see... Sweetshrub and Viburnum sound great. I am defiantly up for some Hydrangeas (though it might be getting a little late to plant them). A Black Gum and an Oak or two would be nice along with a Dogwood tree. The Twig Dogwoods sound interesting as well.

When you say "multiples of 3 or 5" you mean of the same type, right? That is cool. Even if I only want one of a type I would consider planting multiple and pruning out the weakest ones after a year or two.

Great! I've really gotten into this co-op thing. Don't tell hubby!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Brent, the list will hopefully pare itself down - anything that doesn't make the minimums will be dropped ;o) I'm only going to leave the ordering open for two weeks (until 9/1.)

sylvi, your secret's safe with me...

Oak Grove, MN(Zone 4a)

Hubby is in Pennsylvania for a week! I've started tearing out everything behind the garage! I would like something shrubby that will take 25 to 50% shade.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Please folks, please try the winter honeysuckle!

Tallahassee, FL(Zone 8b)

Terry, would it be possible for you to include lorempetalum (sp.)? I need a number of them for beside our back deck, as I understand they will stand the shade. Otherwise, our yard is pretty full. Maybe some dogwoods, though. I'm in for a few. Will be watching for co-op. Thanks!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Judith, I'm sorry - this supplier doesn't carry any Loropetalum. Wish they did!

Tallahassee, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for checking anyway!

Afton, TN(Zone 6b)

Wonderful idea!

Please count on me for the following:

(5 - 10) Sweet Shrub 12-24"

(20 - 50) Hydrangea (Nikko Blue, Pee Gee or Oakleaf) - 6-18" (ANY shrub type Hydrandeas)

(5 - 10) Winter Honeysuckle 12-24"

(5 - 10) Sweet Mockorange 12-24"

(20 - 30) Japanese Snowball (Viburnum) 12-24"

I just bought an old farm in NE Tennessee and I'm ready to go crazy with planting. I need Hydrangeas (Grandiflora would be wonderful), Hibiscus, Rhododendrun, Butterfly Bushes, etc. I'm in zone 6b as you probably know.

Sorry to break the news, but the Tree and Shrub co-op has already closed. You can see the "real" thread over on the Co-Op forum.
