Can everyone post pictures now?

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I have not been able to for 3 days.Help!

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I have tried today and can't post pictures.

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

Nope, still can't post

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I replied to palmbob's message on another thread, but I'll repeat it here. I'm really sorry guys. I wish I could tell you what the problem is, and why it is affecting some of you, but not others.

I know Dave is working on it, and I'm sure he'll either give us an update or pass something to me that I can relay to you all.

In the meantime, all I know for sure is that some folks are able to get through. I had 80-some new images in the PDB queue yesterday (5/21), and the number of images had ballooned back up to a size that made it impossible for me to load the entire queue until about half an hour ago.

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Adding my two cents, I've been unable to post photographs since yesterday. :-(

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

If you are willing to accept a lower resolution on your pics, I would try saving them as .jpg instead of .gif

You can also make sure the file size is relatively small by making the picture no larger than 800 x 600.

Using either or both of these techniques may enable you to upload some pictures while we track down the source of the error and get it fixed...

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Terry my photographs are saved in the .jpg format. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make the photograph no larger than 800 X 600.

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

delicie, what operating system are you using?
If you have Windows XP: download and install ImageResizer
Powertoy.
Once install just right click on your picture and choose "Resize Pictures".

PanamonCreel:

Thank-you for the information but my OS is Windows 98.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hadn't installed that one, Milan. Thanks!

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

delecie, most image editing software allows for resizing of pictures, so question will be which software you are using for picture editing?

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

I have reduced the size of the picture and am still not able to post. HELP!!!

Ashton, IL(Zone 5a)

I have Kodak Easy share (camera and software) and if I re-save pictures on the "suitable for web" setting, I can post those to DG. Larger pictures still won't go (but they used to).

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

I have never had a problem before so I don't quite know what to do other than re-sizing. Maybe the glitch will get fixed soon. Apparently others are having problems too.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I cant post either : (

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

I had DS reduce a photo to 30% and then it posted on a thread. I tried to add it to the PDB in the small size but could not and also got the 'this page cannot be displayed' etc. when I tried to add a comment.

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

Hey, I tried 10 times this morning, got 2 through in their entirety, and got 3 to 'partially' come through (some random fraction of the photo was downloaded)... oh well, had to toss those attempts out... the other 5 attempts were total failures. Will keep trying.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I got the program that Terry told us about (for windows XP) I can post, but I have some problems with size. On the photos forum they had to go in smaller than in vines and climbers. You can get in using it, so thanks Terry!

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh! Wait it's from PanamonCreel. www.microsoft.com Thank you!

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I was wondering if this problem has anything to do with the SBC strike. I am on Yahoo which they own. They also own alot of the servers. I went through the posts trying to find the common thread because some people aren't having the problem and some are, why? there seems to be a reason somewhere. This problem started about the same time as the strike was starting.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

test 10" X 9.611" resolution 72 pixels

posted with no problems JPEG

I've not joined in this thread as yet, but wanted to say that I had some problems about a week ago, when access to the site was a problem. I have no problem posting the images (with a few exceptions, now and again) and I am an SBC customer on DSL.

Re: the occasional glitch
When you go to preview an image and receive a document not found, empty or other frustrating page, hit refresh. If you then get the "this page can't be refreshed without blah blah blah", hit the OK or Retry or Yes button. Has been working like a charm without having to use the back, browse, try again options. This happens about once in every ten attempts to post an image and I have not been down-sizing my images. Here's a 'Barbra Streisand' rose and I DID have to do the back thing to get it to load. :-)

DSL would not be the problem more like for dial-up. They are shuting down to the basics. DSL is faster to start. That's the idea.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I've reduced image size and quality, and still can't post.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

What size? I have had to go to47k even down to 14k this morning.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

It was a 27 kb, guess I need to go smaller... but, then you can't see it very well, guess I'll just wait til it's fixed.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

The 14 was to illustrate a point. Not to cool. Here's a 65k

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

this is 28.7

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I just tried in another thread and couldn't post... :-( maybe soon though!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm not able to post either. It let me do it four times- now no more. Hmmm, good luck Dave!!!

Canadaigua, NY(Zone 6b)

I was able to post, however it took twice to do it succesfully. The first time I got a prompt that said "there is no data in this window". Thought that was odd. But it worked the second. Meredith

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

I am still unable to post pics....wishing you luck Dave...I know you're busy!

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

It's the next day noonish and still no luck... going on nearly a week now of not being able to upload photos (out of about 40 attempts, got 2 to go through)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

palmbob, that's odd. This morning ~40 images were loaded by various people in under an hour.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

I still can't put anything in the PDB either. :-( or here for that matter.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I was just able to post one in http://davesgarden.com/t/432058/ on my first try. File size was 98.5 kb. I am on broadband through Adelphia if that makes any difference.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I loaded a pile of photos this morning & today. My files are all under 50 KB. Could size be a factor. I'm on cable at home & here at work.
