Looking good! I can't wait to see it when it's done.
We lived in our house while we were building it too. We moved in even before all the windows were in. Lived out of cardboard boxes and cooked in a crockpot and microwave. Washed dishes in the bathroom sink. LOL I don't envy what you are going through, but just keep thinking about how nice it will be when it's done. That will help keep your sanity.
Before and after Garden pics.....
socal.. u know what i mean out here in southern cal with all the laws... i am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to be in here.. i looove it!!!! this little house has such a great feel to it!!!! (: hey ur only in huntington beach once we are done u should come up this way and come see it.. (: that would be awesome.. maybe sometime in the spring.. its awefully muddy here now.. plus i wouldnt want u to see all my gardens right now.. they need to be weeded bad! and everything is dieing off... ): so spring sometime would be good... then maybe these irises will be showing their heads(: gonna try to post more pics today if it wont show up as page cannot be displaid after waiting forever for it to load..
joan, yep i know what u mean about cooking.. i have a dishwasher back at the trailer .. we have to take our showers there too... before we got all the plumbing in, hubby hooked up the toilet but we had to flush it with a bucket of water... that lasted about a week before he said.. i am soooo sick of this.,.lol, so now i have a flushing toilet!!! whooo-hoooo.. no kitchen sink though, but i brought in my 'easy bake oven' (small conventional oven) and i bought one of those plug in burners, i cook on that and take the dishes up to the trailer and load them in the dishwasher .... also i do cook alot on the BBQ, even pizza (before i brought the easy bake up) hubby did bring in a dresser, and our bed... plus i brought a few decorative things in from the storage unit... i know, we have to move it all out when the inspector comes but i dont care i cant spend another night in that trailer!!!! oh we do and did have our tv unit with my sound system and big tv (as appose to the tiny tv in the trailer)in it when the inspector came last time, but he didnt say a word about it,.. and now we actually have a REAL fridge .. oh i am in heaven.. i dont care that i am looking at framed walls, and all the plumbing and electric lines.. to me its a sight to behold..lol.. i have 17 can lights in the house and hubby put all the "eyeballs" up so they shine on the walls.. i just looove my house.. all our friends love our house and we hold big parties up here already... mostly karaoke parties... we just love it.. (: ok lets see if anymore of these pics will go thru...
nope it wont go thru.. sighhhhhhhh.. i'll try later....
cici, Oh man does this sound exciting. It's kind of like camping out in your own house. hehe
Yes, I would love to come out sometime next spring and see your new home and meet you too. I have watched all of your gardens being created and your home being built. It will be nice to see it all in person.
I hope you will be able to have a nice special Christmas in your new home too.

It must be fun playing at being finished while you're finishing. How much has to be done before you're official>? to camp out for real? Do you have to have the walls sealed, which of course you can't do til someone okays the wires and plumbing.
Chrissy, it's looking great. Love your door and windows. Can't wait to see more pictures.
Oh, Chrissy, so glad you are posting again about your new place. How exciting for you that you are finally "in," even if the house isn't finished yet! I'll keep "watching" this thread and waiting for all the new pics!
Terrie
actually socal, it feels more like living in a home while u remodel.. but as if the house had been gutted... lol... for the past 4 years i have been 'camping' out in that trailer... i wont go camping for a veeeeeeeeeerry long looooong time... and yes it would be great to meet u too.. (didnt mean to sound like a selfish pig and only care about my house...(: ) why didnt we think of this before??? although i wouldnt have let u come here with that ugly trailer here , but i could have come to see u... i like huntington beach... u know when i was in high school , everyone alway went to newport beach, and i always went to huntington... whats weird is , i seem to remember newport always being overcast and gloomy... but huntington seemed to have more sunny days then newport... and yet arent they side by side??? oh and yes i am gonna get a noble fir this year...and put it right infront of that biiig window...(: and then i am gonna decorate the front forch with lights and wreaths... ohhhh i am sooooo excited.!!!! right now i have broom corn stalks on the two front porch posts .. and fall garland around the rest... after thanxgiving i think i may start to decorate for xmas....(: at least the outside....
Blooms, its just wonderful being in my home.. i cant tell u how many times hubby and i both about broke into tears thinking 'we are going to live in this trailer FOREVER!!!!!' so right now i am in total bliss. hubby just finised puting in the phone lines yesterday , and put my post in for my satelite (i dont want it mounted on the house) so i guess he is hooking that up today... for me.. where would i be without hgtv? lol , once thats done, he is bringing my washer and dryer up from the little red barn.. we still have to get the fire sprinklers in , then we are ready for inspection... i guess what they call the 'combo' (plumbing, gas, electric, ect...),then we have to put in insulation in the walls and get that inspected, then the siding and front porch, and then i think the drywall goes in after that... and kitchen, and the rest of the bath... which if i could ever get these pages to load i would show u my bathroom sink!!!! (: gonna try that now.. oh and blooms.. we have the house tyveked on the outside now.. so at least we are protected from the rain.. which reminds me, i should take a pic of it, havent done that yet! hmmmmm...
ok i'm feeling lucky... two posts in a row... ohhhh hi trunnels!!!! didnt see ya up there.. glad ur looking forward to the pics... the last pic is of my bedroom. i didnt have any pillows on my bed so i didnt want to take them of that, i do now though.. abd i know there isno real theme going on here , just stuff i want to look at for now.. , it will be all done in african jungle when i am ready to decorate....(: anyway , this is my bathroom cabinet...(:
hi lizh! thanx , i love my doors and windows too.... they have removable grids for easy cleaning..(: love the color stain too..
cici!
I *love* (*LOVE*) the bathroom vanity! Ooh, I want it, for my 'guest' bathroom (have to cut it so it fits in a corner, though).
Like the bedroom arrangement, too, -- table, lamp, plants, statue, guitar... everything but walls!
Gotta tell ya, Blooms really can relate! 30+ years ago, she "camped out" through a full-gutted remodel of an old farmhouse, cooking on an old gas stove on a ricket-y sunporch for months on end, while she and my dad did most (98%) of the work themselves... us three kids probably thought it was fun (camping in own home), but we weren't trying to keep a family fed, clothed, clean, and to school on time, either!
~'spin!~
ahhh spin i take it ur blooms daughter? wow! nice to meet u spin!.. blooms! u never told me that any of ur kids were here on daves! , spin are u expecting rain in santa ana today? oh and i ment to say , those bathroom cabinets are at cosco... u better go see if they have anymore.. the whole think with granite , sink and all wood cabinet was i think 439.00 , we just got it a week or so ago.. they have some still there... if u dont have a cosco card it will be another 45.00 for their membership.. oh the bedroom is just stuff that i love that was right in the front of the storage unit... and those trees are are so fake,...lol.. but thats ok i am not set up to water real ones yet.. once we are done i will get real trees and plants for in here... anyway gonna send this post off so u can read about the cabinet!!! oh its not suppose to be catty corner.. we just have it that way because the toilet is preventing it from sliding all the way against the wall by like a quarter of an inch.. so hubby has to buy me my pull chain toilet to get it to fit...(thats the kind of toilet i wanted to begin with! (: ) also the cabinet sits on four of its own legs instead of flat on the ground...
Yep, Crystalspin is mine offspring. She introduced me to Dave's and then got me my membership for a Mom's Day present. But she didn't know I'd move in, take up residence, and spend whole days ignoring my 'real life' gardens and home to be here on DG.
She gave me my 'handle' years ago because of my habit of taking photos of flowers and the local scenery. It fit DG perfectly.
My eyes told me the cabinet was aslant and I thought you intended it that way. I saw it with a mirror also angled, giving the bathroom an unusual orientation and possibly a feeling of a larger space. My DIL uses a mirror reflecting a mirror and the room itself to good advantage. Makes her bath seem way more spacious that way.
PS... my eye accepted that you had one of those indoor ficus trees and I never caught the unreal aspect. I thought your 'touch of home' made a pleasing still life, one that shows a peek at your life. ie You play guitar. ~Blooms
PS forgot to say I really really like your bath lamp. And the one in the still life, too. And Mahoganey is my all time favorite wood, great choice. Plus the fact that the grids lift out is a window washing plus.. Are the ones in the windows removeable or between the glass?
cici:
Ha, I didn't notice that *your* vanity was sitting askew -- I was referring to my needs, and I don't really need one that sits diagonal into the corner, just flat against the wall to the right of it... not curved edge of the granite.
Unfortunately, we are about fourteen months too late for me to decide on a free-standing (looking-like) vanity, as that was when we had new flooring put everywhere in the house... cut to the vanity that is there, natch. So it will stay a blah-rectangle... although I could change the counter, if the right deal came along.
Hey, the pull-chain toilet will go SO fine with that cabinet! Very 'period'! And, you got a good deal (price *included* sink?!! unusual!) on the lav, to make up for a little extra for the WC!
~'spin!~
hi blooms.. i have offen wondered about ur name. not in a bad way, but when i look at peoples user names on here it tells alot.. i thought ur name was because u have soooo many flowers and everywhere u look is a perfect view.. but now i know the story , it fits perect, funny u should mention the cabinet at an angle , i am an angle freak! and originally before i saw this cabinet my unknown cabinet (even if hubby had to make something rustic) was going to be caddy corner with a caddy corner mirror cabinet also made out of rustic wood.. i would love to have this one at an angle but i can because there isnt enough space.. the edge is a tad in the doorway... hubby had to move the plumbing from the spot he put it for the angle cabinet, over to where its going to be up againt the wall.. its a bummer but i love the cabinet so much that i gave up my idea of the angle.. (: also i do play guitar but mind u i am just learning, (: but i looove to play and the learning is so fun.. i am teaching myself.. (: i know i must be crazy but with all the free info on the net , and me loving a challenge ,how could i hire someone to teach me..(: i have to go right now because my neice just got her and we have a B-day party to go to.. so i will finish this post later... ttys blooms!!!!
The pictures are awsome. I envy you, having a flags farm, and a friend to share bulbs with. I would dearly love to purchase some If I may. I had been sceptiable about the claims of the cobblestone path made from rock forms, until I saw your pictures. I think I will do some next summer. Thanks for the information and encouragment.
Thank you
No, No .. I'M the one who should be jes plum ashamed of myself ! ...

I've only now, just stumbled back across it !!! .. And, thank the good Lord !!
OH super duuble WOWSERS Crissy .. ! ! ! ... What on earth have you done!?! hee
(rather, what have you guys - NOT - done!!) ...
Geeezzers ... galsers .. a quick scan clearly shows, that yall have been SOME kindly busy lil callyforny bees !!!
.. LOL ..
And yall are 'in' too !! .. YAY !!! .. Know you've gotta be some pleased and happy 'bout that !!
Gotta get myself out to the shed to give a hand to my hubby this mornin'. (Matter of fact,
I'm a bit surprised .. that the ol coot haint already give me one of his whistles!! .. heee)
... But, I'll certainly be back later sometime today .. to fetch myseff a better gander .. at what you guys

- Magpye
oh boy spin i missed ur post , u must have been posting when i was.. (: yes the sink came with the cabinet.. very unusual.. if it wouldnt have had a sink in it i would have put a copper or brass sink in.. but i am not gonna push it with hubby.. maybe once the house is done... (:
blooms.. my mom gave me that light.. i think its a repo of an orient express lamp or something.. i am too lazy to get up and look right now.. lol. i know the shade is silk.. so i cant keep it in the bathroom , not with a hubby taken showers and shaving in there.. he will ruin the shade.. ): but i have it in there for now because we have no other form of light in there. the electric is in , but not the actuall fixtures, but i will be having a lamp of that same feel in there.. the one thats in there now will prob go in my living room.. the lamp in the bedroom is a micca (sp?) lamp... i have two floor ones and two table lamps like that , except the shades are not upward like the floor ones.. i loe the soft glow they put off... they also are a two way so they do get brighter.. oh wait , i dont think ur talking about the miccas, ur talking about the cone shaped lamp.. i have a flicker globe in that one, its just purley for accent.. i love it though.. i got that last xmas at mervyns on sale for 25.00 .... they had gold ones too, but i liked the burgundy for me.. i'll see if i have a 'night' pic with it lit up... and yes the grids on all the doors and windows are removable.. i wanted that 3d look of wood and not just not the color...
janeth, i may be trading some in the sping.. but i am not sure she is too savvey on the idea of the internet... she is 74 and the computer and net thing kinda scare her,..lol... we'll see...
ohh magpye we lost u and didnt even know it.. dont do that to us again!!!! shame on u!!! (: dont make us put a leash on u now... like some parents do to their children..(: yes magpye we are tryin to get something done before winter kicks in .. i know all u prob think i am a big cry baby, well i am.. lol... i dont like being cold.. its not fun! but then neither is being disgustingly hot either...lo.. (: but alot of stuff we dont want to do in the windy rain... so we are in a race against time.. (:
Cici, yep, it was the burgandy cone that my eye was attracted to. I like the unusual.
Well Chrissy..what wonderful taste you have.
It is such fun to follow your progress.
Love your garden doors ..and when I saw the sink and vanity..I said Ohhhhhhhhhh..........
your bedroom looks cozy already..............you go girl!!!!!!
Cheers,
Carol
lol.. thanx guys... i too like the unusual... my bedroom is just meant to bring some of my loved stuff in that room till we are able to actually move the rest of our stuff in... i wish now that i would have brought my dining room table in.. its is an antique but the lady i bought it ouff of painted it a creamy old looking orange... then she stained over that.. which was ok at the time.. but now that i llook at the body of the table it clearly needs to be stripped and stained... (: also my mom has this curio she is giving me , that is very odd.. i dont know how old it is but i do know its made with pretty old glass doors .. the glass has all that bubble warped looked and it has the diamond shaped lead on it , u know like an old english window ... well when she bought it , the lady had painted it white and and sanded it here and there to give it that old look.. , i told my mom, i am stripping that too and staining it.. it is gonna be beeeeeaauuuutiful when i do i just know it!!! anyway ... i dont have anything new to show u guys cause he is working on stuff that isnt anything to show.. unless u guys want pics of the before and after of the plumbing in the wall.....lol...NOT!!!!!
That's okay, we're just waiting for pictures.... you're waiting to move in. So you have the hardest part in this waiting game. Grinnn)))
We'll be back when you are ready to show us more.......
For now we will imagine your new refinished table and curio cabinet.
cici, just wondering how things are going at your place? Been so long since you wrote. ~Blooms
cici77 where are you?
hi bloomz and lizh.... long time no post huh...(: i have had some year so far .... i havent been in here for a looong time... i lost both of my older german shepherds.... one on dec 4th and the other dec 24.... that tore me up.. i didnt feel like doing anything... i dont have kids but my animals are my babies,...then with all the rain we had our septic leach lines collapsed, which meant i had lost alot of irises... not really many u would notice.. i was able to deal with that part ok.. but then my hubby tells me that i have to dig up all of them and move them all 2000 to 3000 (i dont remember how many anymore) of them .... well we got more rain and i was able to move a few hundred here and there, and it rained and rained and rained... and the weeds got bigger and bigger and bigger,... i told hubby i am not weeding that huge area AND moving the irises... so i moved a few more hundred... but we got sited by the fire department for the weeds and so hubby mowed them down... they are still alive and about half are still out there... i have yet to move anymore... so i am feeling defeted and bumbed plus i cant figure out where i want to plant them that i know i wont have to move them again... plus in an area that already has water to it... the thought of it makes me sick!!! then while all this was going on my black lab and my youngest german shepherd bred themselves... that was a big opps... but she had 9 puppies and i was taking care of them along with her (mama) and bear (proud dad) on the second day after they were born my other dog "wrinkles" got curious and must have stepped on ones belly with her raptor claws and punctured its belly, well i didnt know this becasue i had just left for the store and hubby was home on the phone and didnt pay attention to where wrinkles was (he never had to, i always did) and he calls me up saying wrinkles is eating the pup... so i came back and it looked like she had tried to chew what was left of its imbilical (sp?) cord... and thought it would be ok... well after that thing that looked like the imbilical cord dried up u could see it was a tiny puncture right above the belly button.. after turning over the other pups i then realized the pups already lost their cord.. i felt horrible and rushed the pup to the vet...at 11:30 at night mind u... and he thought the pups chances were 50/50 well to make a really long story less long, the pup ended up dieing... but all in all the other pups are all big and healthy...all but one to a good home... looks like i am keeping fatty....he is a wonderful pup.. he is huge and all black and looks just like his mama... and has the sweetest eyes... he listens so good too.. and did i mention he is fat??? not unhealthy fat but just a big fatty.... then i also got another german shepherd female pup same age as fatty... to breed with bear... so now i have two very wonderful pups ontop of the other 3 i already had....lol the newfemale i have her nameis blondie, but really she goes by "poopie-head" .... i know , i know... what was i thinking... but i just cant help it... lol... our house is STILL not finished.... almost though.. 3 inspections away from final , we should have final within the next two weeks... the fire sprinklers were just put in , insulation comes in on tuesday, then thurs or friday the drywall comes in.. while the workers are doing that we (hubby and me) will be finishing our siding.... we have the front up and my porch lights in and working.. and it looks beautiful!!!! i just love it!!! did i mention that i changed the color of my trim from barn read to white... lol.. hubby was not happy having to cover red with white... but he did it for me anyway... he is just liking how he gets to boast about how he was right and i was wrong.. i am like... yeah whatever...just let paint it white....lol..so i always say now.. yess hunny u were soooo right about that red not looking right... yessss hunny u did tell me from day one to paint the trim white....lol.. so as we are trying to get this house done... and hubby is waiting for it to cool off outside i thought of all my friends here at daves and thought i would pop in and see what was goin on! (: so thats whats been going on with me... how about u guys...anything new???? (:
chrissy
Hi Chrissy, we have missed you. I do enjoy your post and pictures about your house & flowers. So sorry to hear about your "babies" We get attached and love our animals so much.
I know it is lots of work to move your plants. Hope that works out for you. sending you hugs.
oh my Chrissy, you've had quite a year so far.
I understand about being overwhelmed with plants that have to move.... never had that many tho. ohmi!
can see where you might not be up to posting pics of the newly re-painted trim?
I can understand it as I came home from my trip east to find the kids had pulled a ''while you were out'' !!! and stripped my kitchen and bath in a major remodel - which might have been closer to finished except they tried to deal locally and stuff has been delayed [repeatedly] in delivery.
So I'm here in a half naked house which has all the 'untouched' rooms stuffed full of what was in the kitchen. It's close to hysterical. ROFL or I would if there was a clear stretch of floor.
It is good to hear that life is filling the holes, not replacing- just filling- left by your darling furbies. Living is such a roller coaster. Hang on Sloopy. really good to hear from you. ~Blooms
hellow starz, blooms and lizh, has it been several months aready since i last wrote...???? where does all the time go? well guys, my house is done , well all but the granite countertop and the peaks of that darn siding!!!!! he is avoiding the siding like its the plauge, lol... but i am moved in and loving it... we are refinancing with the guy who carries our loan on the land now so we can consolidate all our bills... and i have also just found out on the 19th of this month that i am pregnant!!!! we have tried for so many years and finally i just gave up and we decided to travel....we even planned to go to hawaii in april... so here i am now finally preggo!!!! wow still is very shocking to me... i did get the rest of what was alive of the irises moved so thats our of my hair... but thought i would stop back in with a hello with my good news!!!! (: luv u guys! soon enough i will be back on a regular basis... i had to reformatt my computer and moved all my pics to discs.. here are a few of the inside , with the tiled floor... what a differnce huh.. this is the living room......(:
chrissy
Oh, what great news. when is the baby due? So happy you are back and posting pictures. I wondered where you were. The floor looks great. Welcome back
thank u ! yes i had to fight for that floor.. my husband used to be a tile setter when he was in his early 20's and has always showed me these beautiful custom jobs he has done, round showers, glass showers... u name it... and all i asked was for 18x18" tile on a diagnal... well he moaned about it the two days it took him to set it but after it was done he agreed it looked waaay better set that way ... the whole house is tiled... we just cant have carpet out here , not with the dogs and all this mud and dirt out here.... lol... the baby will be due sometime in may... i dont know exactly yet because i am not sure of my last period... i dont know now if that was really a period or implantation bleeding.,.. i ahve no idea.. i will know more when i can get into the docs...i will call today and see when they can get me in... i will post more pics today when i get back from the preggers test from the docs... (:
chrissy
Missed this Chrissy, when I said life was filling the holes left by the furbabies, I had no idea HOW ife was going to fill it. LOL Wonderful news.
Love the tile on the diagonal. Verrry nice. And now it's October, where are the pics of the kitchen? My kitchen is finished, but I'm still moving stuff back in, haven't put up my red shelves full of knick-knacks back up... have to paint them first. They look a little tacky next to the new stuff.
Lets see more pics... and a May Baby?? ~Blooms
Yes, where are you Cici??? Been waiting for more pictures.
Cici, It has been so very interesting to read your posts and see you pictures. You have certainly had a very busy couple of years since I read your first posts. And now your house is nearly finished and you are living in it. Great tile floor. Are you still bothered with gophers. Your plants look so wonderful.
And such great news about your family addition, bet you can hardly believe it is happening. I will try to watch more closely now. Did you get all the iris moved that it was necessary to move, what a job.
DonnaS
Cici, would love to see more updates! :-)
I'm so glad you brought this thread back up. I was thinking of her the other day and wondered where she ran off to.
Cici, are you still around?
We would love to see more from you.
Yes me too
Cici, I hope all is well with you and baby that was due last month. Do let us know and maybe start a new link.
Donna
ahhhh all my faulse promises!!! soooo sorry ladies.. wow what a year!!!!! (or more) lol.. i slept those first few months of pregnancy, ALOT! but really LOVED being pregnant! the doctors induced me on the 23rd of april, and it wasnt working so they ended up doing and emergancy c-section , so my baby boy was born april 26, we named him Hunter, and he is the joy of my life... just watching him grow like a weed right before my eyes!!! he is now standing for brief moments by himself and has 2 and a half teeth lol.. here is a pic of him.. some of u have seen several pics of him from another thread that i post at on occasion, i couldnt find this thread , till just now!!! lol... thanx guys for all ur sweet words on my gardens and posts.. u guys are clearly my internet garden family!!! (: and by the way i should psot that garden now, u all would be horrified!!! i get sick everytime i go down there and see it... but on a good note... 3/4 of it is still alive... some REALLY overgrown roses, i hope i can cut them back , move them and not shock them to death! some other flowers are small barely hanging on awating my rescue!!! lol.. here is whats going on, since my little angel will be 1 in a month and a half or so, i demanded from my husband that my child have a yard with grass in it to play it.. and of course the beauty of flowers!!! i want my hammock back up and tiki torches, he cant play outside in all this dirt!!! so the last couple of days hubby has dug trenches , ran plumbing for sprinklers, (i cant believe i will actually have sprinklers!!!!) and electric (i cant believe i wont need to use extention cords!) and are u ready for this???? i get my WHITE PICKET FENCE!!!!! i am very excited, errrr... i mean excited for my baby boy!!!! lol... so once he is done i will move all my survivors from the sleeping beauty garden!!! lol and when its done then maybe i will post the horrific garden... lol... anyway here is a pic of my angel baby in the tub!!!
ok kitchen requests... here it is, we just got our granite in!!!! looove it! , i am painting the past few days.. going tuscan style... so the kitchen will be an olive green.. i'll send pics after its done... but here it is before the paint... cant get a whole shot at once... so it will be several pics...
