Sorry; forgot I already posted these pics. I have found this one with 5 or 6 different names. I am beginning to think each grower puts any old name on they wish.

When the size is listed as "standard" - what does that mean?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Good news! Exotic Hibiscus in Florida has moved and is having a sale for the next couple of weeks. $5 off every hibiscus you order. I received the information in an email. Went to the website and saw no mention of it there.
Emailed them and asked; they emailed back and said that it is not mentioned on their website but the ARE doing it. This is a nice savings!

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

Standard - I would check with them to be sure, but generally that means in a vertical tree like form. Like this one http://utgardens.tennessee.edu/gallery/containers/hibiscus.html

Don't forget we have Garden Terms on this site - http://davesgarden.com/terms/go/870.html

Duh! Sometimes I just don't put on my thinking cap! Thanks so much!

Join the club. Mine is usually on the shelf gathering dust.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Hopefully tomorrow I will have some new ones to post. The ones I ordered from Dupont did not bloom true. Bobbie was great about it. He said I can keep the wrong ones and he will re-send the ones I wanted. Also, the place in Fla is doing a great deal for the next two weeks. $5 off each plant you order. Take advantage of this; what a savings! It is not advertised on his website but it is there, he re assured me.

Not that they hold a candle to the tropicals, but there is a co-op on Hardy Hibiscus at http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/458846/ for those who may be interested and have not noticed.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Does anyone here know what these two hibiscus are named? I would really appreciate any help with this. If anyone knows, it seems it would be someone here on this thread. Thanks to all in advance.

Hi Bug
That first one looks like Tamibon from strictly hibiscus? Do you know where you purchased them from?

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Both of them are Walmart buys.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Its possible that walmart buys from them. I really think that first one is tamibon and the second one is driving me crazy because I know I saw it somewhere.

BT
It says the link is Password Protected. Maybe you have another link? Thanks.

Alice,
I'm still stumped. I went to look up images of Tamibon and it looks like Tamibon is pink, white and yellow without even the slightest hint of red or orange in it. Mine has way too much orange/red in it so I think I'm back to the drawing board. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Dottnmd, My Edna Boegert looks like your Cloud nine. Could you have them switched? I bought from Logee's also. Have gotten a few blooms but many have dropped. I'm hoping it has to do with the fact it was such a young plant which I planted directed in ground.

I am saving every penny for the coops to come.

Everybody's pictures are so incredibly beautiful!

These are being shipped to my house in CA - ideal growing conditions. When i lived there I had plain old hibiscus singles that would grow to 8 feet if you let them. So these fancy ones will be a real treat.

Thank you, Busybee

Have more here that have not bloomed yet so will be posting them as they do.

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

TwinLakesChef,
How are you keeping these going with all the cold weather coming in.... Are they inside in a greenhouse ? Your location says IA ? Are you really in CA ?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

VS,
When the evening temps drop below 55 I drag all my tropicals in to my living room in a south facing window. They bloom all winter long and sometimes do better there than out side in the summer.

The high winds we have here on the lake, the bugs that attack them, as well as threat of hail keeps me jumping.

I am definitely addicted to go through the work of taking care of them inside all winter. This year I put down black plastic under all of them so I can take a squirt bottle and mist them every day. Madness, indeed!

But there is nothing more beautiful than a hibiscus bloom when there is snow on the ground in the dead of winter.
a
PS I do have a house in Southern Ca which I am planning to fill with hibiscus.

I have got to get me a sunroom....... I'm envious of your beautiful blooms........ and there are so many wonderful colors. Maybe it's time to start rearranging the furniture and making room for plants first, accessories later......
