cici, I don't know exactly what that one red one is. I've seen them all my life, they are very common. Maybe someone else knows. I just know when I look at them, it reminds me of royalty (like a king in his robe sort of thing). I have always loved them. That 2nd pic was some bulbs I picked up last fall. I don't know what they are either - I need to start writing these down and keeping better track of them on my excel spreadsheet I made (this winter).

I love these!

bama, I think that last Iris you showed "might" be this Western Blue Flag, Rocky Mountain Iris. Although yours is more purple, it looks like this pic might be too bright. It looks much like the shape of yours. I looked in the database, and this was the closest I could find as a match.

http://plantsdatabase.com/go/31802/index.html

Yours is a beautiful Iris! I'm not too much on Irises, as I grew up with the "same ole same ole's" but when I see pretty ones like yours, that are "different", I will most definitely "ooooooh and awe:!!!! :)

cici-- Anemones are also known as Windflowers. My plants aren't too big yet, but they say 6-12" in height is the normal. Mine are about 5 or 6 inches this first year. I was thinking they were in a different place than they are and was completely surprised when I saw this bloom. I have several more that should be blooming this week if the rain doesn't keep them from opening. Actually I had some 'DeCaen' and 'St. Brigid' and I now think this is the 'St Brigid' because it's a double. The DeCaen are singles.

virginia blue bells. One of the best plants to have in the spring shade garden...it disappears after blooming and lets the hostas take over. If I had to choose only one plant to be my favorite (spring blooming!) it would have to be this beauty.
