It's really good, thanks again Dave. If it had stayed as it was I wouldn't be spending nearly so much time here
.....on second thoughts, praps you'd better change it back so I can go and get some work done LOL
making a font change today
Looking good again. Thanks Dave.
ohhh, my 42 year old eyes are doing the happy dance....oh, wait a minute, that is not a happy dance, they are crossed...*snicker*
Looks great in Firefox 8 and IE 6. Thanks Dave.
Also looks great in Watchdog, but larger fonts visible in Bookworm and PDB. I have an older version of Netscape(think it's 6) floating around and it's still LARGE, but don't use it anyway. Works great with whatever version of IE that AOL 7.0 uses also.
Lovely again, Dave. What did you do?
I was just about to ask that LOL
AOL's browser is their own, I believe, its own separate critter.
I removed the font-size:12pt; from the CSS sheet. Specifying it was messing folks up, (don't know why...) so I got rid of it and instead allow the browser to make its own choice. Oh well!
dave
Oh - sorry it didn't work out. Very strange, I wonder why
Anyway, I for one am really grateful to you for changing it back. It's so much better for me like this. I feel rather selfish, but it was SO uncomfortable to read
Thanks Dave.
This is soooooooooo much better. :)
If everything is back to normal, how come I'm still stuck with letters that are too big and having to scroll sideways to see who's talking?
I hate it.
Have you rebooted since the last change?
Paintedlady, you may need to reset the font by CTRL+scroll since the change, too.
I restarted the computer but it is still the same, too big and wide.
I don't have a scroll mouse, if that's the kind that has a wheel. Scrolling with mine while holding down the ctrl doesn't do anything.
Which browser are you using Paintedlady?
Well GW, this is strange. I was using Netscape 6.
After your question I tried it in Firebird and now it fits the page again.
I like firebird, but it doesn't have a built in email program so I don't get around to using it normally.
Is there a way to fix DG in Netscape?
It's odd because the fonts are now back to exactly the way they were before I made this change! So I really don't know what else to do at this point...
I'm mystified, too. Paintedlady - Mozilla Thunderbird is the accompanying E-mail program, and it has its own installer. Check ou this thread: http://davesgarden.com/t/417472/
Mine must have already been set to this, because nothing has changed here!
I had a surprise this morning - when I logged on the font was huge again and at first wouldn't respond to scrolling.
But I persevered and eventually it suddenly popped back to size comfortable :)
Status quo!! I like it!! :-)
Dave: This is much better. Before I thought I needed new glasses. LOL.
I don't remember what size the letters used to be, but I know everything used to fit on the screen where I didn't have to scroll sideways. Well, I'm still scrolling sideways. Somehow my Netscape still hasn't gone back to regular :(
Netscape sufferers, go to 'Edit' > Preferences > Double Click 'Appearance' > Fonts > set 'Size (pixels)' to 12 or whatever tickles your fancy.
I tried it Ulrich and it workes for DG, the text gets perfect at 12 and everything fits on the page.
But all the other websites out there gets too small to read instead.
I'll just keep the rest of the web normal and put up with DG like it is :(
Sorry, just can't win for losing
)~:
BTW it is fine for all websites on mine. Maybe if you leave it at 12 it will be ok throughout after re-booting.
