Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

I like GABRIEL'S TRUMPET

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Bluegrass, that's a good one! I wonder if there is already a brug named that -- it sounds so good, surely there is one already named that. tiG?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I can't find one with that name nat. I checked all the known places.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

pure ambrosia.. can't wait till i have my first one to. got seeds not started yet cutting has some sprouts on it..

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

OK--before I change my tag, are we still with Ambrosia?

(I do like it, if I have to say so myself, lol)

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes, still Ambrosia. The NEXT good brug can be named Gabriel's Trumpet.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Cool Nat! I'm changing my tag.

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

I wanna smell it! Someone bring a cutting to the next RU for me? Any of you going to the FL/AL RU?

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sorry Jenks, I won't be able to come to the Fl/AL RU. Maybe if the Ga. DGers have a fall RU like they did last year, I will have plenty of Ambrosia cuttings by then and should be able to come.

Fort Myers, FL(Zone 10b)

It looks like Angel's Trumpet... ? If it is, it's really poisonous to dogs and other angels!!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

...................almost all plants have parts that are toxic. I for one do not go around chewing on plant partz ,seedz, rootz, stemz,or leavez =)

Nothin' new since the beginning of time, so relax my dear and enjoy your garden.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Welcome Morganmom. Yes, these are poisonous but maybe not so much to animals. Scroll down on this page and it talks about brugs and pets.

http://www.americanbrugmansia-daturasociety.org/aboutbrugmansia.htm

However, if you have small kids I would not grow them! Then again I have tons of Oleanders also and I raised a son. I never let him out back though on his own until he was old enough to know not to eat plants.

I hope you look around on our forum and enjoy some of the pictures. They may be deadly but they sure are beautiful!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hi Morganmom....and welcome to the brug forum at DG! This is a great place and a wonderful place to make great friends! Normally I would be concerned about posioness plants, but since most are...then I'm not concerned about my brugs or dats! My kids know better.....and I'm hoping that everyone else teaches their children the hazards of dangerous plants!

Brinda :)

Fort Myers, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Kell and Brinda.

It's nice to find a friendly gardening place to answer all those misc questions we all develop over the years!

We have various poisonous things on our property - hard to avoid - but the reason I mentioned the Angel's Trumpet was... when we moved to Fla. 13 years ago, we adopted a dog from the local Humane Society. Posted at the Humane Society was a list of 5 dangerous plants for dogs and cats..... dangerous because they attracted animals AND were poisonous. The Angel's Trumpet was on the list. We went home and took ours out.

Of course, they are animal experts, not plant experts, so I don't know if this is true or not.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

My cats chew on the leaves once in a while, TG they have not had any reactions

Oooops, sorry, I did not realize this was an earlier thread, please forgive. Hopefully, I'll soon figure out this routine. SLike

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

If I remember correctly, didnt someone on DG chew a leaf once? Carter or Eric sticks in my mind for some reason. I dont recall any side effects that they mentioned.

Welcome Welcome MorganMom! Hope to see ya posting on the brug forum more soon!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have lots of brugs in my yard, and I mean lots, and two dogs, and they are never attracted to the brugs. They really pretty much ignore them.

Fort Myers, FL(Zone 10b)

Good info - thanks. I'll put "brugs" back on my list of stuff to experiment with.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Hahah, Yer funny Morganmom, You'll fit right in with us brug obsessed addicts ..... LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Geez CC, your bird must have had so much fun between that pot and the plant!

I have 4 cats and they ignore all of mine also, which is hard to do as they are all over inside and out!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I hope the next special white, especially if it is a double, will be named Whitewater Falls, the tallest falls in the east. It cascades over 1,000 feet; 3 times higher than Niagara.

Beautiful picture!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Very pretty picture, Betty.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I take visitors there regularly. I live in Transylvania County a/k/a "The Land of Waterfalls." There are over 1000 waterfalls here, about 250 of them considered "major." And we are a very small county, 3rd smallest out of 100 in NC. Alas, it rains quite a bit here, lately almost non-stop for about 2 weeks. My roses keep rotting before they open completely. But we do have drier spells too..

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Ambrosia is beautiful. Love the name. Would love a cutting when available. Great work calalily

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Ambrosia is a wonderful name for that brug..

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I looked it up too, ....."nectar of the Gods" and anything pleasant to sight and smell

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Nat, where are you?

Linda

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hi Linda!! I sent cuttings of Ambrosia to several people in different zones for us to see how this one grows elsewhere. Prior to releasing it at large, I wanted to grow it through a second season.

In it's second season, it is taking on a pale peach coloration at times dependent upon the temps. However, it still remains a bloom bloomer for me, and has a heavenly scent.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi Nat, good to "see" ya. Can you post a picture? Mine is doing good, but no blooms yet.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Nat, it is very pretty. I would be proud to have it in my garden!

Hugs, Lani

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Right now, Ambrosia is covered in buds ready to bloom out in a major flush. I will post pictures soon, including a picture showing the peach tinge that the blooms sometimes show. I am especially curious to see if the current flush will remain white or turn peach. Tune in later this week for results!
