Help name this Brug

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

At the recommendation of my good friend, Violabird, I am asking your helping in naming this brug.

It is a Calalily seedling given to me last summer. It has large pure white blooms, a heavenly scent and long curled tendrils. It is a most prolific bloomer, producing wave after wave of blooms.

Here are a couple of names I had in mind:
Tennessee Snow
Heaven Sent

So, what do you all think? Let's hear some more suggestions

There appears to be a problem with my photo file - - try this one

It's really strange Nat, I can't open any of them. I keep getting a weird error, but my name is in the error toward the end??

At any rate, from what I can see in the smaller pictures, the blooms remind me of 'Shooting Stars'.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Beautiful Nat, give me some time Ill think of something but I like what you have in mind so far too.
How about maybe Tennessee Heaven? hehe I know not very unique of me but Im trying.
Im getting that same error message and someone posted a thread in another forum about the same problem. hhhmm DAVE HELP!!

southern, NJ(Zone 7a)

Badseed, in the second picture, that is a flower pouch hanging on the opposite side of the gate and it is filled with impatiens.

Just a pretty white one and I love the red and white impatiens with it. They really bring out the purity of the white brug. How about "Pure White Calalily"?

Don't forget to say how HUGE the blooms are! I told Nat we need a name that tells how scented it is too, can't wait to put a new name on mine (:

I kinda like Heaven Scent

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Eau De Tennessee Grandure- yes my spelling still stinks

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Very nice tendrils on the first and third pictures.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

There's already a 'Heaven Scent' by Kyle Courtney. nice flower!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

It's a real beauty. Have to think about a name

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

why name it?
is it so distinctly different from other cultivars to justify a name?
Naming every new 'slightly different' plant only clogs the system.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Drew, if you saw and smelled it, I think you'd change your mind.
Did you see those tendrils?

If the purpose of brugs is to improve them, we need to trace the traits. I think everyone agrees that Whiskers is a pretty great Brug. We all want long lasting blooms! It's huge long lasting blooms, (mine lasted 1 week) the scent and tendrils is the main reason I think it needs recogintion. IMHO.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So tell us Nat, how big are these blooms? LOL

They look huge to me. I can't beleive that shape. absolutely great! I am a sucker for such curled tendrils. There is nothing like a stark white brug at night. My favorite sight.

You really need a special name. She looks like such a lady!
But do not ask me, my giant white I grew last summer I called Headlights. LOL

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well Kell, I wish I had measured one of my blooms but I didn't. And this brug is dormant right now. But the blooms are really quite large.

I hear you Drew on your concerns and I was hesitant to presume that this brug was worthy of naming. But even if it is not worthy of registering, Vi and I still want to name it. I will rely on the experts to tell me if this brug is too similar to another named brug to be worthy of registering it.

By the way, here are some more suggestions that were emailed to me plus a couple that I thought of:
CurlyQ
Party Girl
Pretty Girl
Snow Baby
White Dove

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Absolutely gorgeous! Wish we had smell-a-vision!! Can you describe the smell to us? Maybe it would help with selecting a name if we could conjure up that scent in our minds.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

As Vi is the scent queen, I'll let her describe it.

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

please name it Cherylbackyard? please? wow thats pretty!!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

basing from the growth of this brug, and the shape of the leaves. i had some seeds, i started late in the summer. the seeds were crossed from Jean Pasko and Jessie Noel. the seedling grew so fast and so tall. unfortunately it was started late and did not bear flowers for me. seeds were shared with me by Cala. now am beginning to wonder if it is the same plant? only way to know is to watch the ones i grew and see how the flowers would look this coming summer.

from this observation, i guess u can have a better idea on how to name this brug. just a thought.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

The photo problem seems to be fixed now. I had trouble last night opening photos in every forum here at Dave's, but today it's all fixed.

Nathalyn,
You have a beauty there. How about a name from the Lord of the Rings? Or a romantic name like Gwendolyn or Anastasia or Sophia?

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Hi Natalyn,

Reading this thread I was thinking pretty lady - how funny, similar ones were mentioned. She sure is pretty!! Brenda

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

What are the flowers growing under your brug? How about the purple ones growing to the right of it?

Inquiring minds want to know ...they're so pretty...as is your brug.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

How about (Queen) Guenevere ?
I did not find one listed ?
§hirley

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

I love King Arthur, too. Queen Genevere sounds perfect.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I am new to all the new types of Brugs out there,I have had them for about six years, but really only thought they came in a few pinks, whites and yellows.
After joining Daves' I learned of all the different ones, their colors, traits and habits are still a learning process.I was pleased to get seeds from Cala, and to get one to bloom was quite a treat! It was white, had nice shaped blooms, and a fantastic scent.
I guess what I am asking is,what was the cross of seeds on yours Nat?And if the seeds were from the same pod, does this mean it is the same plant?Does the growing environment dictate a different Brug? Say if I got a later start,my soil was more porous,I watered less.Could that make the same Brug produce a dissimilar Bloom?
Sorry so windy...
I just love Whites. What ever the name Nat,save me a cutting next year please.

No two seeds are identical in what they produce, but it doesn't mean that the blooms can't look almost exactly alike.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

I would have to say the scent reminded me of the Easter Lily or maybe a Hyacinth--one of those beautiful scents good enough to eat (:

Here is a horrible pic of mine which bloomed in my basement--I could smell it when I opened the door. Since something ate the back side, this is the only pic I took waiting for the 2nd bloom to open ): I didn't even save the pic when the tendrils curled!

I think I measured this from the stem to be 16". Nat, I think you had measured it for me last summer, at 17"!

Doc, this one sure has serrated leaves, it does remind me of Whiskers.

AMBROSIA?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I like Ambrosia!! Monika has a Guinivere

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Wow Vi,Thats a white I have to put on my list!

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

It's Nat's same brug, Doc!
I was lucky enough to get a piece of it from her at our RU!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Gosh Vi.I was looking so close at the bloom,I did not see the heavy serration!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks for your description, Vi.

I like the name "Ambrosia" also. "Marshmellow" is an ingredient in Ambrosia salad. Mmmm Mmmm Good!

How about "White Knight" to follow the medival theme?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL!! there's a White Knight already too.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks tiG. I figured someone would know if there was already a registered name, so cross out "White Knight".

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Monica says "The Flying Nun"

Edit to say My DW is Monica, not Our Monika here.
