Help name this Brug

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ohhhhh, I like Ambrosia. And all the other romantic names also.

Vi, 17 inches sounds about right.

I have emailed Cala to see if she remembers it's parentage. But as she is in the process of moving, she hasn't had access to the internet lately. I am hoping that she will join us again soon to enlighten us a little more on the brug.

And Doc, all those technical questions will have to be answered by someone more knowledgeable than me. But yes, I will save you a cutting next year and make some available for DGer's.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pins2006,
The flowers growing in the circular bed in front of my brug (picture no. 2) are ageratum (purple ones), celosia, and profusion zinnias.

The red and white flowers growing under my brug (picture no. 1) are impatiens in a flower pouch. See this picture for a better shot.

Nat, that is very pretty with all the nice curls!

I can hardly wait till I have some flowers to smell this summer. Meiyu sent me a few flowers to smell so at least I can now say I have smelled a brug. The cuttings you sent me are doing great now.

you have a beautiful yard/garden nathalyn. hmmm...i love coming up with names. the first word that came to mind when i saw the bloom was 'grace'. i also like,'starry night'..i think someone said that maybe? (im having a hard time differentiating between my thoughts and posts haha) i was also thinking of beautiful spanish words that would describe it. 'vela bella' (depending on who translates it) i think can mean 'beautiful wind' or 'guarding wind', either of which i think is neat.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

bella blanc meaning pretty white?

hiram, GA(Zone 7b)

A novice, that shouldn't throw anything in but how about Ambrosia de Amour? Spelling is horrible, as well.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

That would be Ambrosia d'Amour

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Joli blanc is pretty white in French

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I liked the romantic names mentioned....but I like the Sophia....how bout Snowphia.......

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

LOL, I mixed Italian and French

Franklin, LA(Zone 9b)

ok.. i think you should name it "Black Knight" to keep with the medieval theme, and also just to make people wonder.. lol

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Enh, I figured I'd strike out with most of them, so two isn't bad! :)

Franklin, LA(Zone 9b)

how about combining some of your suggestions, eco
and making "pure innocence" or... "arctic moonlight"?
:)

Great suggestions everyone! I've been laid up with food poisoning for a couple of days and only have about half a brain right now. Once I am back to normal, I'll review this thread and pare it down to my top favorite five. Then, I'll repoll to see what you all think.

I do like Tennessee Lady also!

Lani, I'll glad to hear that your cuttings are doing well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will bloom for you this spring. If I remember right, I sent you Charles Grimaldi which is my favorite for scent.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi Nat, sorry you've got food problems. Hope you're better soon. If you're keeping a list for cuttings, I would love one of these. Sooooo pretty.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, You may already have this white brug. At the GARU, I think I gave you a sucker of WW that I was supposed to give to PaintedLady. It was a little limp at the time and it may not have made it - but if I gave you more than one cutting, one was Charles Grimaldi and the other was this white brug! But if not, I will for sure get you a cutting later this year.

I am feeling much better but I have to mute the TV and look the other way when the "all you can eat shrimp" commercial from one of the national restaurants comes on. As much as I love seafood, it may be a while before I can even think about eating it.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

LOL Nat, I'm so sorry you've been put off shrimp! (((())))

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Looking at my list that I made after the RU, I do have one from you that I recorded as Whiskers. Is that the same one?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

This is a picture of "Heaven Scent" a versicolor hybrid with very long flowers of an exquisite fragrance. Not on the market yet.Named two years ago.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Heaven Scent is very pretty. Wish I had some of the fragrance to get me through until summer.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda - - yes, if you have one marked whiskers, then it is this one as I was calling it "white whiskers" at the time.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Oh, goodie goodie. I was just looking at them, and it's about 18 inches and has a Y.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Heaven Scent is just beautiful....very elegant!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I have seen other pictures of this Brug, the black background shows the bloom, but does not really show the size, this Brug is amazing,I hope it makes the cut!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

How big are the flowers on that first pic?

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't have any measurements of it's blooms but they are quite large compared to my other brugs - - long like a versicolor peach, but with larger blooms.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Nath, it is a very nice brug:-)please keep a cutting...you know what I mean:-) I will bring chocolate....

Mesilla Park, NM

How about "White Showers", or "Waterfall", I must be thinking of water..lol.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

White Chocolate :)

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

The brug is gorgeous, and I'm sure you'll find a name worthy, but my question is about the grow bag. I bought some last fall to put petunias in (imaptiens hadn't crossed my mind until I saw yours, and I have some seeds), how do you water it? Is there any difficulty keeping it moist enough? I love the way you have done it, up on your fence! Thanks for letting me know. Gretchen

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ludger, you are sooooooo bad! And I like milk chocolate not the dark......LOL Does this mean we might expect another visit sometime soon? Say yes, I have cuttings.....

Besides bringing this brug inside for the winter, I took a few cuttings to be on the safe side. She's a strong, quick growing brug - so hopefully, I can have cuttings available this summer for you all.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I mean, APPROXIMATELY how big are they? from the pic they look over a foot long! I have never seen anything like that up here where I live! (I'm new to Brugs, and getting seed soon)

Karrie

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ok Karrie - - this is not a scientific measurement, but they are over 14 inches long. I hope that someone can send you a cutting or two in the spring. Seeds are great, but may not bloom the first year. Usually a cutting taken from above the Y, will produce blooms the first season.

Brugs are show stoppers. I have one in the front yard and I get a chuckle when I notice cars slowing down to look at it. I haven't caught them, but I've been told that neighbors come into my yard on a regular basis to check them out.
