Mystery! Collected them and don't know what they are??

My teen-aged daughter got a wild hair a few years ago when we lived in Texas. She opened every seed packet I had, dumped it into a measure cup (thank god I only had about 20), and went about broadcasting them all over my bulb beds. I had such surprises growing all over the yard. Plants ranged from Amorphophallus Konjac, Dracunculus vulgaris to bright pink cosmos. I was really surprised, and the plants were beautiful, but it was really hard to dig up all the Konjac and drunculus vulgaris.....the beds were not big enough accommodate a full-grown mature plant, and were full sun, but hey, I got 25 new baby konjacs that year, and they were all at least quarter size by the end of the season. I love mixing some seeds together and throwing them down....my nephew loves to pick flowers, so a "trash" bed, so I call it, as totally unorganized, wild, and abandoned, is his favorite spot.

Thanks Elena, I appreciate that. Yes, it does sound like you might be counting the chicks before they hatch, but surely a lot of those mixed and scattered seeds will survive. I hope others will do the same with their surprise or scatter gardens. It should make for a fun thread.

If we trade seeds to form these gardens, I want to put a sign in my Forgetful Garden with all the names of contributing persons who have traded "forgetful" gardener seeds with me.

Just don't forget to do it. :o)

Count me in ! I would love to do a forgetful garden and to trade seeds with you all! I have several packets of seeds I can no longer identify and was wondering what to do with them. This sounds like a great idea!

Count me in also. Don't let me forget to make that sign, Mary! Forgetful should be my middle name. LOL!
