I've been lucky enough to not find out what happens. Just thought it was a term someone started using. Sorry about that. Going to his place isn't something I do very often. Maybe once a month and then I don't stay long enough to get myself in trouble.
I've never got in trouble there either. But I do find it "not nice" to just kick someone off (who has a paid membership) without giving them a reason or asking them about the situation first.
Geez, I just went there to see if I could get kicked off and it won't even let the poster use Daves Garden in a post. Warns ahead of time.

I often wonder who runs to Spike and tells him what is going on. Just a few months ago there was a discussion on the brug forum that was deleted before the ink was dry. Made me wonder who had the direct line to him. Of course I would not mind if it were fairly done!

Hibiscus, when I told him that I was contacting his parent company, he said I threatened him and that was a few days after I asked to get my membership taken off, I had already deleted my e-mail, my page, my trade lists, everything. So, in otherwords, he banned me before he would take my membership off. What a Circular...... he tried to make it look like he banned me, several people left on their own. You should be okay as long as you do not have ANY type of communication with him, or a problem of any kind (nadda).. I like this post, it lets me vent..lol
Not to be a wet blanket, but...
Please be really careful if you want to post anything about DG over on GW. The reason Spike has "blacklisted" DG is because when Dave began this site, some well-meaning members tried to let their GW friends know about it, and Spike interpreted their actions as "spam". Since then, we've tried periodically to reason with him that his message is inaccurate and libelous, as we've has never spammed his membership, nor have we asked anyone else to do so. Despite our overtures and request for proof of his allegations, he steadfastly refuses to stop using that as his excuse for halting any mail or posts that contain "Dave's Garden". Anytime I see people trying to circumvent his rule, I'm afraid he sees it as DG "stirring the pot" again, and I'd rather not play into his hands ;o)
Perhaps Spike has never truly been "spammed" and doesn't know what it means. Mentioning another garden site to another gardener is just a gardener sharing. No harm intended whatsoever. I see small mans disease or something along that category in Spike if he can't let his gardeners share other sites with each other. OUCH, but the truth. He's "afraid" of competition, when all there is here is gardeners from both sites sharing with each other. Shouldn't be a big deal.
BTW, I just posted on that thread, before seeing Terry's post. I think I was fairly nice in it, however, and just asked what was wrong with gardeners sharing with gardeners.

He has spies (the Harpies) that, if THEY don't like you or your posts, they email Spike and let him know. He then deletes the post. He also plays favorites. I really dislike that site now. People say that they never had a problem. Just post the name Dave's Garden and they WILL have a problem. LOL

well all i did was post a picture of one of the memebers here to use as reference for another memeber who was trying to decide if the seeds matched.
well both memebers are still memebers of here. if they are still over there too i dont know. any way i told spike it was her pic and i was trying to post it for her since her computer was down at the time and you cant post pics at the libary. well nope no go nothing but disney.
he wouldnt even listen that it was her pic even though it was from here. rude
he is rude. i find it totally wrong in my book to take my computer and direct it somewhere i dont want to go. if you get kicked off msn or some other server that page just doesnt let you back on. which in msn s case is all the time with the upgrades.
I am sorry Daves gets such a bad wrap over there. I have been here over two years and never have seen any problems to big arise. Yes a few memebers were booted but with good reason. It is very wide open here and we are free to talk about things openly.
i feel its wrong. i didnt get my money back and i didnt get no apology either. i just got disneyed. well i got cursed at and in a big todo with spike but those words arent proper here.

Harpies, huh...I guess that explains the rose forums over there. When I first started browsing the garden site, I was so excited to find a good antique rose forum. It quickly degenerated into the experts and the newbies where if you weren't an expert you were practically expected to pay homage to the experts. The forums quickly degenerated into who has what, what is your favorite rose, help me pick my next wish list, etc. Certain posters kind of disappeared (?). Some posters were verbally caned for asking questions that rubbed the "experts" the wrong way. It seems to have picked up in content lately but I found various other sources for which I have more respect.
It is really upsetting when you get an email from a newbie who has been redirected from the site and a vicious email response from spike and they don't understand what they've done wrong.
Glad to be here, but would rather not waste my time talking about GW, too much good company to enjoy, way too many plants to learn about, and plant links to explore when I get my computer time,

One of the nice things about Dave's is you can ask a silly "newbie" question and not be treated badly over it. I've asked silly questions because I didn't understand some posts and was never "discarded". I was welcomed with open arms by people who knew, and wanted to help.
If it weren't for Dave's, I wouldn't have 3 beautiful little Brugs grown from seed.

Gourd: I posted in a Brug thread. I said a few nasty things about the originator of that thread. Told Spike if he sent me to Disney for a vacation, he would never see my membership in GW again. Post went on , then before morning, the whole thread was gone.

What I find interesting is that whenever a harpie may be sent to Disney, they invariably get to come back. Even when they do some awful things. But then someone who never has done anything, but is just disliked by a harpie, gets booted. It is too bad, because there ARE some nice people over there.
yes i seen recently one been there while got back in. quick i was booted one time never back I'm old woman to, several wrote to him but no good he did not relent but he made the mistake not I i told him plus few other things so. disney it was..the thread proably disappeared so his sponsers would not no about bright boy, girl??
they sure are standing up for him over there.
it isnt worth it. i cant get on to put my two cents worth in over there but that man does need to loosen up.
then the people are over there who are his favorites can do no wrong. its stupid to be banned for saying Daves garden. it just is.
I will say it is so childish to kick people out because of this. is the man that dang parinoid of losing people if you say other sites names.??? wow i didnt understand him her then i am still cant now.
