Dh and I would love to, but will it be a problem that we live in Canada? I don't want to hold anyone up because of our postal service than going through customs. D

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

You may want to check this out

I saw this, but the thing is, I am not a crafter! I wouldnt give anything I made to my worst enemy much less a friend! The time limit to sign up for this one has also expired. I just thought there might be enough interest for a second one. I will however, understand if there is not. you guys decide!

Kidneyguy, I have to be honest, I am not sure how being in Canada would affect a swap. If there is enough interest I will find out.

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

Well, looks like no one wants to do the secret santa thing but me and thee lol! Oh well!

Mobile, AL(Zone 8b)

I would like to do the Secret Santa.

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

I'll get on the bandwagon also.

Paul

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I'd like to get into the Secret Santa thing too!

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

YEA!!! If you guys are willing, I will be glad to host this thing. What kind of rules etc would you like to have? I thought we could have a cut off date of 10-20 for people to join , I will have your names to you by 10-30 and we should have our Secret Santa gifts mailed out by , maybe 12-01? that way we wont be rushing around at the last minute when we all have so much already to do. I am open to suggestions though, these dates by no means are set in stone.

Should we have a price limit and if so how much? I was thinking no more than $25.00 and it should be garden related. I dont want this to be a hardship on anyone, it should be fun!

Kidneyguy, I think if we have the boxes out by 12-01 it shouldnt be a problem, what do you think? I want you to be included! Let me have some input and we will get this thing rolling!

Edited to say "It should be garden related"

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

I think it should all be garden related since this is a garden related site.

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

Paul, that sounds good to me, I would actually prefer it that way.So far it looks like there will be 5 of us. I will wait a couple of days for input from you guys then set the rules for the Secret Santa Swap. I would like to have everything in place by this weekend Sat.10-11.That will give others one more week to join. I am editing rules above in my first post. We may have a small group but that will be fine, especially as this is my first time to host anything here. Have a great day! Sharon

Is it possible that maybe the $25 limit is scaring some off? That is kind of a big chunk of change for many people and also people may not want to risk that amount being lost in the mail. I could be wrong but thought I would throw it out there since there has not been a whole lot of response.

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

We could lower the limit to $5-10.
I agree $25 might be a little high for some.

Paul

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

I think 5-10 is good.
One thing i wanted to say when I ran this one yr we had a few from other countries-most went well. I f possible you should match canada to canada and austraila to austraila. Makes it much easier. But it cost alot to mail out of the counrty. I never did get my present :( from out of the country and I even switched with someone that didnt want an out of country trade! :(

Somethings to consider. yes id like to be in this one-they are always so much fun.

I put all the names on paper and then again in a hat and let the boys draw the names. going down the paper list and drawing for whomever. saying drawing now for Ruby42(example)get it?

Hope that helped a bit!

:)

Orlando, FL(Zone 9a)

Count me in on the $5-10 exchange! Sounds like a blast! Do I just wait to hear back at this point?

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

Foreign countries shouldn't be too much of a problem in the price range we're talking about.

I do quit a bit of Ebaying to Canada and never had a problem.
You just get a customs sticker at the post office and stick it on the front of the package.

Dori's idea is great if you can do it, match country with country.

Paul

Mobile, AL(Zone 8b)

I think the 5-10 limit is better also.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

The $5-$10 is alright......maybe up to $15. I'm in.

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

Ok, thanks for all the help! $10.00 limit it is! I will edit first post. notmartha, your input is appreciated believe me, I need all the help I can get.!

Looks like at this point there are 8 of us, listed in top post.If you have changed your mind let me know, badseed, would you like to get in on this? we will be glad to have you. So at this point all you do is wait, and shop of course.

If you would like to post a wish list you may, but I think the fun comes from not having any idea what you will get. You will all hear from me by email on the 30th with your names. I am really looking forward to this!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I'm in, and anything for the garden is fine with me!!!!!

Honor, MI(Zone 5b)

(sorry, we're a little slower up here in the north. I blame it on the cold weather...it slows down the brain cells..............)

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

sierrawoman, Tombstonejan, eyesoftexas, you are all in, welcome to the party! Christmas is my favorite time of the year also, I shop all year , picking up small things I think someone on my list might like. Finding Gardening related items will be such fun!

Black Diamond, WA(Zone 8a)

Count me in too please

Verona, ON

I sure don't want to miss out on this either. Christmas is our favourite time of the year too - not only is it Christmas but it is also my birthday AND our anniversary. Your cut off date sounds great to me and if the parcel going either way across the border is listed as a gift I don't usually have to pay customs. Plus, if that proves to be a problem I can have my brother who lives in Florida mail it off and whoever has my name can mail the parcel to him. Will check out the customs thing today at the postoffice and let you know. Can't wait, the price range sounds great. D

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay, count me in! :) I have never had any problems mailing to Canada or other countries. You just have to check 'gift' and list no value on the customs certificate. The only time something did go astray, I think it was dishonesty and not the postal service. I have been trading for five years so that's a pretty good track record! LOL

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

Badseed and dough448 you are in! Counting myself that brings us up to 12 Secret Santas.

Thanks for the info on the mailing to other countries, with your help I think Santa can handle it, Ho Ho Ho !

As soon as I can my new email today you guys can start emailing me your address's so I will have them to give to your Secret Santa. I will post as soon as I know what it is.

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

You can now reach me by email. Boy, I like this high speed thing, quite a change from dial-up!

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

ViolinAnnie...Your next step is to email me your home address so I will have it to give to the person who draws your name. Then you wait till 10-30 when I will email you with the name of the person you send a gift to. I hope this is clear, It's been a crazy day around here.

Wondering...The person who SENDS the gift is the Secret Santa, so does that make the person Receiving the gift the child? Hmmmmmmm

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

I would love to get on this too!!! E-mail is on the way!!!!

sue

Ashton, IL(Zone 5a)

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Any changes for the cut-off date? *bump *

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

No changes I dont think, I know the group is small but thats ok. I want to be sure we have plenty of time to get this done so that everone gets their package before Christmas and it doesnt become a problem during the Holidays.

Silverhill, AL(Zone 8b)

I would love to participate too!!!!

Oh, and I am going shopping right now! LOL.
