I love Baby Cakes - you can call her Cupcake at times too...isn't a cupcake a babycake? And if you don't want to embarass her out in public you can call her BC or Babe!

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9b)

Roadrunner-She's beautiful! I know puppy is a girl but Oppie would still be a good name for her. I just love dachshunds, I have three myself. Dallas, Daisy, and Winston.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Oh Jo, how cute!
My brother bought his DD a weenie dog many years ago. Jimmie Dean was the name they chose, the dog was a girl.

Crossville, TN

Lisa....that is a cut name...but since I waited for over a year for a female...I think I want her to be known as one. Jo

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Nice picture - I can't tell who is better lookin!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Jo, I love the name Tess. As I said in an earlier posting I owned and loved a dog by that name. She was a blue merle Shetland Sheepdog and was a sweetheart as I am sure that your Tess will be.

Your Grandson is a very nice looking young man. It looks like he loves your dog. :>)

Thanks Folks. Pond...he better love her...he'll be keeping her for a month while I go traveling!! He is excited about it...although he has a Dachshund and a Lab. Jo

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Good choice roadrunner, I love the name...thanks for letting us help.......grandson is a handsome fella too....
:o)

thought you would enjoy this::

If you want someone who will bring you the paper without first tearing it apart to remove the sports section

Buy a dog.

If you want someone willing to make a fool of himself simply over the joy of seeing you

Buy a dog.

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never says its not quite as good as his mother made it

Buy a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want

Buy a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't give a flip about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies

Buy a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get up on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores

Buy a dog.

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually

Buy a dog.

But, on the other hand, If you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness.

Then my friend,

Buy a cat!

(You thought I was talking about men didn't you!)

*Waving* Hi Tess! What a cutie you are! Just remember the old saying, don't bite the hand that feeds you. Just nibble on it enough to keep her happy with you.

Oh Jo, I just found this thread - - - what a sweetie! Are you bringing her with you when you come to Tennessee, and if not, how can you stand to be without her??? Of course, I believe that Andrew would make an excellent baby sitter. Nat

Eyes...are you hiding in my pantry?? No...cause I don't have a pantry.....but how do you know she is "Baby" most of the time. I guess if it was good enough for Bogart and Bacall...then it's good enough for Mz Tessa! LOL Jo

P.S. Andrew has a half day off from school and is spening it with G'ma and Tessa. Last chance for staying with G'ma, but he will see plenty of Mz Tessa in the next month.
