Help me name my Birthday Surprise!!!

Crossville, TN

Yesterday DD (weedwalker) asked me if I wanted to go to breakfast as a Birthday Bunch....DD, SIL and me have birthdays within a week of each other.....Sure, I'll go.

Ok...we went to breakfast.....then SIL needed to go to the barber...then we were to go to the commisary.....well...he started drivng the wrong way for the commisary. Did they move the base???? No, Ken has to pick up a package.

We pulled into this little parking lot where about 10 people were standing around chatting. I thought they were a hiking group....then DD said..."come on Mom" So they edged me to an open van door....OH MY GOODNESS....it was my long awaited puppy!!! I didn't even know the people had a new litter.

She was born July 22...She is a beuatiful 6 week old Dachshund. Dames name is Patti, Sire is Cruzer.

Help me name her. The following names cannot be used as they already belong to special Dachshunds.
Heidi
Raisin
Rita
Greta
Sophie
Squeegie
RosieJane

Naming will Close when I get up on Wed. Morning....Thanks....Jo

Look at those eyes and that puppy tongue and puppy tail - she must have already melted you - what a wonderful present and new companion. So happy for you and her!

Ah, Jo... what a wonderful gift. As to names, I posted (in a thread I cannot find) a long thing about namimg my best friend's dachshund puppy (and later mine) where I said they looked like a bank... Remember the fuzzy plaster dog banks with soulful eyes the boys would win for us at the Fair when we were young?

Hers was named "Riggs" (for Riggs National Bank in DC), and mine was 'Morgan' (for Morgan Guarantee and Trust). If mine had been male, he would have been 'Fargo'...

I had a dachshund for the last 11 years and she was a wonderful pet, although expensive ($3,000) for her back surgery. Mainly, I didn't know better about letting her jump and climb. Please be careful of yours, they are such loving pets.

Oh what a lucky lady you are. She looks as sweet as brown sugar. Hey, how about Brown Sugar and you can call her sugar for short. Who's going to puppy sit while your gone?
What a wonderful birthday surprize.
Happy Birthday sweetie

What a doll baby! Boy, do I know how hard it is to name a pet, especially one that will mean so much! Here's a thread where you can look up all kinds of names and their meanings http://davesgarden.com/t/391878/, or do whar I did and ask for suggestions, lol!

How about LIESEL, Mitzie, or SASCHA, (German for Sasha)?

Good Luck, hope you do better than me--I took at least 2 weeks!

Awwww Jo, I got tears in my eyes! What a great present! I thought maybe you thought they were going to throw you in the van and get rid of you. wah ha ha haa Just kidding, you know I love you. I think since you are the Roadrunner, the doggie oughta be Wiley like Wiley Coyote-your partner in crime.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Crossville, TN

HMMMM......considering!! I've just had her a few hours and she LOVES the couch!! I love her already!! Jo

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm with seed on this one too. Here Wiley, come here precious one. Oh Jo, she is just too cute. I grew up with a Doxie and his name was "Liebling hines" which I think means "loving one or loving dog", but we called him Lippy for short.

So are you bring her to the RU for all of us to spoil her? hehe

Donna

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Holy moley! Just found this thread!

She's a heart-smiler! (Looks like our RosieJane!) I love her! I wanna be the grand-dad!

I've always made sure to NOT name a dog the day I got one. I like to be with them, hang out a bit, get to know them, and learn their "self". Only then will I give them a name. Course now, the last couple dogs we got I'd stay up with them all nite. I'd hang out on the couch, the pup either in a box right next to me on the floor (or with me on the couch) and when they were ready I'd take 'em outside to wee-wee or whatever, come back in, sweet-talk 'em and go back to sleep. I'm a weirdo, ya know.

Jo...that is a fantastically wonderful present! I think you should put her in your carry-on luggage and bring her to the RoundUp! Please???

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

AAAAAWWWWWWWW
She is ADORABLE!!!

I always liked the name Molly for female pets, specially dogs.

Happy Birthday :)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

How about Smidgen?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm not sure why, but she looks like a "Penny" to me.

St. Thomas, ON(Zone 5b)

Oh Jo she's adorable, and she'll Love you forever. It's so nice having a puppy (dog ) they're always so happy to see you even if you just went out the front door and came in the back ha ha ha. I used to have a little dog with the same colouring as your sweet baby and I called her Tara. Have fun with her and remember you're the boss LOL
Sounds like you had a very Happy Birthday

Jo, what an adorable puppy!! Name..let's see..I'm absolutely terrible with critter names but I'll give it a try. Here's a couple: Romeo, Jules, Midnight, Lovie, or just plain Sir. :)

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Jo, only one name is even possible: a female version of El. Ellie? Elsie?

The way you always take El with you on cyber-adventures, this sweet little girl is going to be sharing many real-life adventures with you :) We aren't going to get to meet her in KY? Oh no!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

She is soooo cute. I like Lizzie.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

Joan, "Penny" was going to be my suggestion too :)
