It's that time again - contests!

Well, here we go - another year, another photo contest. Things just wouldn't be the same if we didn't do this in 2003. :)

This year we have a brand new contest engine that I have developed, which will make uploading and managing your entries easier than last year. Also, the judging is now completely different.

Once the contest entries are all in, we will close it for new entries and then the judging begins! Instead of 2-4 judges per contest, we are now ALL judges, and the members will be anonymously voting for all the entries. This will be an interesting contest.

So, check out the contest page (click on Extras and then Contests), start uploading and have fun!

We'll let the contest entries add up until October 31st, at which time the entries will close and judging will begin.

I do have a question though. The entries show there have been several posts already but they are not there to be viewed. Is this a glitch or just that the photos are still in Que for screening purposes?

I think Tomtom will win the Container contest Hands Down if she enters. Some really great Containers last year, though.

This is soooo much better than last year's.I love the idea of everyone voting,and the pictures being held until the contest closes is a stroke of genius!

It makes it fair and fun for everyone.

Well I don't think I can post a thousand fotos but I have posted a few!
This will be my first time in the DG photo contest and I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun!

How about another catagory, tropicals? I see a great interest in that and also ponds?

What about garden art?

Is it okay to put in a link to our journal to show a before picture, and put the "to date" picture in the actual picture place? I'm talking about in the landscaping contest. I don't see where we are able to put in a before and after picture. My landscaping will take years, and the only way someone will appreciate my accomplishments is to see what I started with. :)

JoanJ: That's a fine idea - yes go for it.

Tropicals and Garden Art are in. We'll need to decide (at some point) what categories for judging these will have.

How about an anonymous section where we don't know the photographer?

Philomel, Unforunately that's not possible. I programmed the system to show the name of the photographer in each case. However, during the voting period, the username of the submitter will NOT show up until after the voting is complete and the winners have been announced.
