I lose everything I pick up. LOL
What do you lose?
Elsie, I'm like you. I write notes about everything and then they get buried under other notes. I put notes on the calendar and never look at them. Finally I started writing my notes on large bright post-its and I stick them on the bathroom mirror right above the sink. So when I get up and brush my teeth or comb my hair or even just wash my hands, there they are! It really helps.
I'm glad you found your keys! Whew! Saved you a long trek in the heat....
I have lost more weed diggers than I can count. DH bought me three more this spring and I have only two left. I have a feeling that they get buried under the compost and such while I'm working, but I'm thinking that they should be showing up sometime again when I'm planting something. One day I will have a whole garden shed full of weed diggers, after I find all the lost ones. Sure glad they are cheap.
The second thing I lose a lot of is groceries. I have teenagers that live away from home, but close enough to "grocery shop" here. We don't mind though, at least we know they are eating.
Well I got up this morning and yesssss the keys were still there!! no more hiking!!!
mind you the day is still young so Im bound to lose something else!!!! LOL
Aimee..
Yes, that I was wondering...I´m very youn and still I have bad memory......Well, doesn`t all scientist`s have bad memory? LOL!...My chemistry was 9...And pfysics 8...
Or maybe my memory space in my head goes to plant names and I dont have more space to other things..HehHeh..
psilo, this has been a good thread, and a good ending for you. The large reward must have done it. I have many pair of glasses (4) in the house. As anyone knows, it takes glasses to find the lost glasses. Although at times, I have been down to no glasses, as I have looked for them all. So now, it's 1 pair in the car, 1 pair in the workshop, and 4 pair in the house (2 at the computer). Maybe we should paint the 'losable' items red for easy finding. Or attach a tiny monitor with a beeper, like the new clickers for the TV sets.
yes golddog. Our cordless phones at home have pagers built into them so we can find them when we lose them. Maybe they should put them in keys too!LOL and glasses and pens.....
Great idea, and I totally need that feature. Since I have had the cordless phone with the locator feature, I have wished many times there was some way I could have the same thing for my keys, lists, whatever I might pick up, because I, too, am subject to lose anything I pick up. When I misplace my cell phone, it's such a help to be able to call it from the cordless regular phone.
So all's well that ends well. I'm so happy you got good results, because when something like that is lost, you just can't stop yourself from looking for it, over and over in the same places. BTW, did you note where they hid them? It might be handy to know for future wayward items.
LOL Aimee they are two smart for that. This time I looked in all the usual hiding places and came up with nothing!! they keep changing them.
Talking about things having different pagers on them leads though to another problem - remote controls!! aarrgghhh
I dont know about you folks but we have a remote for the tv, the video, the dvd, the stereo. They are supposed to make life easier, but can I ever find the right one!!!!!!!????????????? LOL
I went through a phase where I kept losing gas caps. Not only did I lose the car gas caps, but I left the gas cap off a brand new mower once and mowed over it! Since then, I have decided that when gassing up, I cannot put down the gas cap. It has worked. I have only lost one gas cap in the last three years!
omg, gas caps! I used to lose those all the time. I even used to keep spares in my car. The car I have now, the cap is on a leash, so I haven't lost it yet. (knocking on wood)
psilo, I lost the remote to my back room tv years ago, and have never found it. where do they hide??????? I guess when the tv itself dies, the remote will turn up ...
I don't even want to talk about cell phones ... *sigh*
Cheri'
Did you ever take the cap off to add oil to your engine and forget to put it back on? Recently, I did that, and when I went to check the oil in the ancient chariot, I was horrified to see an open hole where the cap should be. I walked all around the house on the road I take to and from the highway, then back through the pasture along the one I sometimes take to go to the county road along the back. No cap, and I was certain Lincoln would charge me a king's ransom for a replacement. I concluded I would have to ask DS to check some salvage yards for me, and replace it with a used one. Upset with myself, I went back to the car, checked the oil and added a quart, and prepared to lower the hood. I glanced at the bottle containing windshield wiper fluid, and was overjoyed to spy the cap lodged between that bottle and part of the engine block. Right there, in the middle of the pasture in mid-morning, I cried with relief and thanked my Creator for whatever lesson I was supposed to learn, which wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.
I lose my reading specs all of the time, I have many different ones now spread all over the house and office, but strangely enough, I always seem to have them all in one place at least once a week, then I go around placing my "Gregory Pecks" in strategic, easy to see and remember positions.
I knew a guy once who was always losing his temper, and whadya know, I've lost his telephone number.
Wintermoor
Well Wintermoor you will be glad to know that yesterday I did not lose my temper. Thanks for the laugh!!!
Talking glasses I once told the kids off for hiding my sunglasses only to have them laughing at me (kids have no respect for their parents these days!!)
No wonder I was wearing them on top of my head!!:O
I am also a note taker and unless I plant that note on the floor by the bathroom I lose it. Sometimes though my DH moves the note and I forget that important appointment or thing that I was supposed to buy at the store. I usually remember that I had something important to do but not the specifics.
My Doctor says that I should send my mother back to her last home town to live and my brain (and blood pressure) might return to normal once again. sigh
My glasses are not a problem to me since they are the first things on in the morning and the last things off at night. I put them directly into my drawer in my nightstand each night. I have worn them since 3rd grade so they are just part of my face.
I lose my gardening tools also and usually find them where DH has put them after he got done with them. They are usually down in a hole where I can't get them or too high up on a roof or in a crotch of a tree. :>)
I lost my drivers license this year for the first time and had to get a duplicate of it. Still hasn't turned up for me.
Maybe I am losing my mind but I don't know where I will put it.
I lost my drivers licence once but didnt know until I got home and found that some kind soul had pushed it through the letter box!! deeds like that really boost your faith in human nature.
LOL My drivers license is lost somewhere in my house or my truck. I wish I could say that I had lost it on the street as it would make it more dramatic but alas that would not be the truth. sigh I think it may show up in my winter clothes.
I tend to take it out and put it in my pocket so I don't have to carry my purse because the weight of my purse bothers my fibromyalgia.
My DD bought me one of those back-saver bags, which distributes the weight better and is supposed to be easier for us to carry. But I find that it only increases the amount of stuff I can carry, so it's still a burden.
You know, for all the times I have lost my temper, I never recall finding it, yet can always lose it again with the greatest of ease. I think I must be sort of like a lizard, I regenerate lost temper parts.
I'm wondering if those kids who found the keys for the reward will decide to hide them somewhere to possibly generate another reward. It could be a quite profitable as well as entertaining game......
This thread made my day. I laughed a lot and is funny to know we are all in the same boat. Smile, Smile, Smile Donna,
OK so Donna fess up and tell us what you have lost.
Today I lost my shovel once again. I looked and looked for the darned thing and finally found it... in my DH's hands where he was working on the trench for our new pond electricity. When asked why he took MY shovel when he has his own which is identical sans the tape to identify it he replied "I saw yours and didn't see mine" LOL I need to paint my stuff flourescent pink to see if he will leave that alone. LOLOL (doubt it)
what a good start to my week.it all rings true,I have garden tools all over the garden, can never find one so buy yet more, then these too dissapear into the realms of the unknown.
But my bigest..biggest bug is when the other half looses stuff!!...it's never their fault is it! it's always 'where have you put it?'no matter how many times you say that you've not touched/seen it, they always can't take the blame for loosing their own items. At least when I loose things I know it's me, I think!..
Odd socks, are another bug-bear.I have a bottom drawer full of them.Where do the other ones go?last time I counted I had 56 odd socks in their, not to mention odd gloves,I've evn mislaid the odd shoe. Now how on earth can one shoe vanish?
but at least it's comforting to know that's there's a whole army of us out there wandering aimlessly around ,looking lost or bewildered.
sue lol! socks are a nightmare in our house! One husband and two boys and not a match in sight! I have resigned myself to only buying black socks in future!!
Sock problem here too. Maybe we should all get together with our socks and throw them all in a pile and see if we can make some pairs. LOL I'm about to throw the ones I have out. It's obvious that where ever they go, they never come back.
not so much losing but forgetting to label plants I get when I swap and having to wait a year to see what they are.
What a cool thread. I tend to lose gardening gloves and gardening tools but if I were answering this for my dh, it would be glasses. He has at least 4 pair and who knows how many at places we've visited. He only uses them for reading and tends to sit them down and walk away. Once I had to fedex his glasses to him. That was before he had so many pairs. The keys story brought back a memory for me. It's been over 20 years ago, I had come home from the grocery and was putting food away, etc. Later that day, I was missing my car keys. I looked everywhere and couldn't find them. It was winter and we had a wood burning stove. I had thrown a paper sack in the wood burner and the keys were inside it. How or why, I don't know. Anyway, when I pulled the ash drawer out, there they were. Sheesh, what an idiot. I would also have to say that I keep St. Anthony pretty busy finding things for me. He's the patron saint of lost things and he hasn't let me down yet.
I found my extra key set today. It was in the freezer with the roast that I bought for the bar-b-que for July 4.
I lost car keys 60 miles away from my house while out in a country estate doing a bat survey.
So what did you do Mark?
had to beg someone who was going to Belfast to drive me home and I would fill their tank with petrol. next day to get someone else to drive me back with a spare key. On the keyring I lost were house and window keys, work keys, shed key ....
ooops bet you were popular then!! :)
my hubby took the kids onto dartmoor once when they were younger ,to go letterboxing. He managed to loose the keys on top of a tor, didn't realise until they got back down to the car!!...so up they trialed again, had half of the ramblers up there scouting for the keys. The kids were in tears 'cos they thought that they would be forever stuck on Dartmoor, never to see home again.Luckily someone found them, he didn't offer to take them out for the day again for a very very long time !...And to this day they still rib him about it.
ugh, just lost my favorite credit card (again).
Now I do leave home without it. OK, bad bad bad pun, I know. But it's true, I did lose it again. When I garden shop, I travel with the card in my back pocket,(a bad habit I must change) but then, you must see my office, another spot where I plunk down my card. I have piles of papers, books & catalogs...... and it is time to clean. Ugh...........where oh where is my favorite credit card? LOL........
I lost my favorite toe ring today. I wore it to work, but I changed out of my work clothes and sandles to go tree shopping after work. I don't like to wear it with tennis shoes because it pinches, so I slipped it into the pocket of my shorts. Tonight when I got home, it's gone. I think while I was dragging money, keys and such in and out of my pocket it must have fallen out. :( I really liked it too. DH isn't upset at all though. He thought it was funky. LOL
I take it funky in the US means kinda weird? it means cool here in the UK
mark, it seems to have both meanings here. Isn't the English language confusing?
.....way out cool though man, LOL
heavy, yeah...Language is changing more so now,my daughter said someone was 'bad' which I took to mean naughty bad, nope, wrong it means good!!...how on earth do we converse with these kids? LOL
ah but bad is spelt baad
