I am going daft here!! I have lost 2 pairs of car keys in 5 days. This morning I had to walk the kids 2 miles there and back from school because I cant find them!!aarrgghhhhhh
Im sure the kids are hiding them as dh says that for a fact they were hung up last night! this is doing my head in!!:((
What are you always losing?
What do you lose?
My hand shovel or pruners! :-D
I am forever hunting for my pruners. I have about 6 pair of the things, and when I need them,,,they are no where to be found. Usually by the time I find a pair I've forgotten why I wanted them in the first place. Which comes to the next thing I'm always losing....my memory! I walk from one room to another...stand there with a blank look...trying to remember what I'm doing and what I'm looking for. There's just no end to this Old Timers Disease!
hand shovel or pruners, but I tend to lose everything. We hang our keys by the front door, but I used to lose them before we started that.
I've been complaining all week about missing tops/bottom of plastic containers for leftovers. I have lids with no bowls and bowls with no lids. I don't know where they go and DH says he doesn't either. I no longer buy the expensive tupperware for that reason. It's very aggrivating to grab a bowl for something only to find there is no lid to fit.
lol - cordless phone, hand shovel or pruners!!
hehe, what don't I lose??? I have been absent minded since I was a child. My mother said it was only God's intervention that I ever got to church when I was little as there was always one shoe that had vanished between putting on one and reaching for the other. Lately it's things that really need to be mailed out, checks, insurance papers, I sit at the table, do the paper work and go to get the stamps and everything disappears. I also misplace garden scissors, the manufacturers of which are making a good living off this bad habit of mine.
lol Kathleen. I forgot to mention my worst sin. I write things down on scraps of paper and can never, never find them. I swear there must be some little critter in my home that loves to eat paper!!
Im losing my mind!!!:((( still cant find them! arrgghhh dont fancy another 2 mile hike in this heat!:(
I too lose seceteurs and trowels. Goodness knows how many trowels I have but they are never anywhere to be found. My husband says I would lose my head if it was not screwed on!!:D
and pens.....!!! I do not even want to go there!! LOL
Could the kids have hidden them in the hopes of not having to go to school? Or maybe a dog? My daughters dog always goes through her purse and scatters credit cards, etc. all over the house.
I , too am good at writing things on scraps of paper and loosing them, plus trowels, clippers, keys, medicine, etc.
Generally I first lose my reading glasses and my patience, followed by post-it notes with important information, and in the garden, my pruners and hand trowel. I no longer (usually, anyway) lose my keys since I made a special hook for them.
I don't even bother to look for my mind, as it went away a long time ago, LOL.
37 years ago, when we first got married, it was always the checkbook. We finally started referring to "checkbook heaven" as the place where all lost things went. Now I lose just about everything. I finally go buy a replacement and then it shows up. Sure is nice to have 2 of everything! (except when I lose both)
I dont "lose" things, only misplace them! And then I find things in the strangest places.....The other day I found the bathroomn cleaner tucked behind a gallon of milk in the fridge!!! I haven't any kids at home so my DH must be playing tricks on me, even though he denies it , lol
I keep losing the fingernail clippers and keep buying more so sometimes there are about 6 pair laying around but when you need a pair, they are nowhere to be found. I've made it a point to start carrying a purse and throw my keys in it "all" the time because I was a really bad one as far as losing keys. Garden gloves, can never find them when I need them but when I'm done, there they are..........lol
I can never find my Sharpie when I "need" it either.......only when I don't need it does it show it's face :)
why is it that you always find what you are looking for in the last place that you look?
and...
Why is it that when you stop looking you find it! :O
Still no keys :( gosh I dont fancy having to do that journey again tomorrow! :((
djm you could be right there. I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the kids has lifted them and are not saying!! grrrrr
flowox what is a sharpie?
A black permanent marker that I use to mark things or use to write addresses on my packages but never seem to find it when I need it :)
Sharpie is just a brand name
LOL, I'm like flowox... I lose sharpies all the time (small fine tipped magic markers). I use them to address packages to send, and can never find one when I need it. I must buy 12 a year, or maybe even more.
Right now, we are packing up all the stuff we can do without, in preparing the house to sell. I bought a box of 4 large permanent markers to mark the boxes, and we have managed to lose all but one!
right I am with you now. I have the same problem. The children used to take them all the time!! Now I have a box that I always put them back in and the kids are under pain of death if they touch them!! LOL up to now it seems to be working :)
psilo, try to remember the last time you had your keys and totally retrace your steps, calm down (very important) and don't think so much of finding them rather than what you did and where you were in the house that you can remember and then start to search those places. It sometimes helps me but if I'm in a frantic to find something, I "never" find it............only when I take my time does it show up :)
I have done that Flowox and I have run out of places to look!! I am usually very good with keys. They are either in my pocket or hung up on the key rack. For the last 3 years I have never lost them. Now I have lost 2 sets in 5 days!! Im sure something else is going on here! :((
Have you checked inside the car?
good idea djm.........in the car, in the door, heck in the fridge (maybe you got something out while you still had the keys in your hand)......in the bathroom, in the blankets on the bed, under a stack of papers.......heck, check the trash, maybe they fell in there.......lol
just thinking of different places :)
Yep, those kids hid them. Have you thought of offering a reward to the one who locates them?
It's reassuring to know others make out the checks, go to locate the stamps and then misplace whatever else it was, I already forgot. And tape! I believe I hold the world's record for misplacing rolls of sealing tape. Along with everything else mentioned above.
I think the most frustrating lost items for me is my clothes! My old house has weird closet space, and there is absolutely no place for things in off-seasons. So I pack away a season's clothes, find a space for the boxes and bags, then can never recall where my clothes are when the season rolls back around. Several years ago, I decided to floor part of the attic and put a rod there for the bags. I kept a few things in a bedroom closet in case of sudden weather changes. When it was time to put the bulk of my clothes back into use, I couldn't remember where I put them. I searched every closet, every drawer, under every bed, in suitcases. To no avail. So I bought a skimpy supply to tide me over, and added to it from time to time. Next changeover, I packed those and stashed them in various closets. Forgot where they were. I did this for about three years, then decided I was too stupid to pack my clothes away. When I had to go into the attic to let the propane supplier check the furnace, there sat and hung a ton of clothes. Raincoats, sweaters, long dresses, you name it. For someone who always prided herself on knowing exactly where every single thing was, this was just too much. I now keep an impossible clutter of stuff on tables and every available surface, because I'm afraid I won't recall where I put it if I put it away. Of course, I can't find anything because of the clutter.
lol Aimee, reminds me of a tank top that I bought at my moms when I was there a couple of months ago. I thought for sure I left it at her house and asked her but she said I didn't. I looked for that darn tank top all over the place for weeks and then I found it a couple of days ago in a pile of blankets that are too heavy to use now due to the weather change and just never got around to washing them and putting away yet.............lol
I thought I was losing my mind and my shirt of course.....lol :)
My mom lost her keys once when I was young,,,and two months later found them in the refrigerator....so Psilo...go look in the frig!!!!
LOL Mossrose! but no they are not in the fridge and as far as I can see they are not in the car. Unfortunatly the car is locked so....!:(
I like the idea of offering a reward though. Ill try that when they all come in :)
I can remember the last time I had them I was juggling many things at once so maybe they fell down somewhere? but it still doesnt explain where the other set has gone to?
Right Flo, even the trash! If it was the kids, the trash would be a good spot! Maybe in an outside flower pot or dropped in the garden if you paused to look at some flowers before going in the house?
When my DD was two, my keys disappeared. Now, I used to be really bad about losing my keys, but since I got this huge brass hook key ring, I had never lost 'em. I searched, and questioned everyone, and searched some more. I was really upset about losing the big brass hook. Finally, I had to chalk it up to my endless goofy-ness and replaced all the keys.
Two years later we cleared out DD's bedroom, emptied the closets even, to redo the room. Guess what I found on the floor of the closet, in the corner, under the shelves????? Yup, my big brass hook key ring and all my keys. hmmmmmmmmmmm, how do you s'pose that could have happened?
15 years later I still use that key ring.
Good luck, psilo. I hope you find yours sooner than I found mine.
Insanity is hereditary. You get it from your kids
I lose thing all the time....Because of bad memory.
I put my camera on to my table, then I took few steps, and I dont remember where my camera is......Lol.
Mitjo, you are much too young for that! But it's reassuring to think young people do it. Maybe senility isn't the culprit.
Aimee I owe you one!!!
When all three came home I said I would offer a large reward to anyone who found my keys!
It took precisely 50 seconds!! for both sets!!:O
now why couldnt I have thought of that this morning. It would have saved a 4 mile trek in blistering heat!:(
Thanks to everyone for your help. I thought I was going quite mad :))
LOL...........Aimee to the rescue :)
Way to go for that tip!!! Glad to hear that you got your keys back :)
so am I flowox!! I really didnt fancy that walk tomorrow!! LOL
I bet, I would die if I had to walk anywhere in this heat. Tried to take a walk yesterday with Jim and thought I was going to have a heat stroke or something........lol
I did get a really bad migraine from the heat though :(
I have a habit of loosing ONE earring....the missing one usually turns up, but if anyone sees my red one.......Jo
oohhhh so it was yours roadrunner!!LOLOL
sorry it went up the vaccuum cleaner !;) :(
Psilo I'm so glad you found your keys. Last time I couldn't find my keys, they were in the front door. I'm always walking to another room and wondering why I'm there. I write myself countless notes, I don't lose them, but I forget to read them. There is a really good reason I don't have a cell or cordless phone.
When I locked my keys in my car - only once, I had a new key made and keep it in the change section of my wallet.
One time I was at the grocery store; put all the groceries in the trunk, then climbed in. No keys. I searched my purse, pockets, everywhere. Climbed out of the car, looked under the seat, inside the cushions, no keys. I knew that I did have them, or I couldn't have driven to the store in the first place.
I decided to go back into the store to ask at the Lost and Found, then realized that I needed to get my keys from the trunk lock before I left it! (still embarrassed about that episode!).
In my defense, that happened when I was on so much pain med. that I was in la-la land most of the time.
psilo, I'm sorry but. . . I'm sooo glad you lost your keys!
I haven't laughed so good for awhile! I'm with Mossrose's first comment OT disease--forever walking around trying to figure where I was going, what I was supposed to be doing, and why I was there. . . at least I haven't forgotten who I am yet :)
Thanks!
Vi
