Cala, Jo and Carol's excellent adventure begins soon

We will begin our journey on July 25th in the beautiful state of Tennessee. We will be stopping in Virginia then on to Md to stay the night with SgtDot and Ginlyn. Then it's on to New York to see Crestedchick. We hope to stop in NH to see Snowhermit and then on to Maine to see Poppysue. I think we are stopping in Pensylvania and somewhere else too, will have to check with Jo. Carol7 assures us that she's been to the east coast before and we won't get lost with her along. Jo is the navigator. Lauren tried to talk me into driving into NYC to shop at Bloomingdales, but it's not gonna happen, lol. Callabilly has promised to put together a route that includes lots of 2 lane roads thru the country instead of the busy interstate. He and Jo were conspiring before the round up. Should I trust them? I have promised not to drive off and leave Jo anywhere, especially if she gets out in the middle of the interstate or if she's in the bathroom or gets out to take a picture of a flower(HA!! I can just see Jo photographing flowers) or some handsome fellow along the way. I think that's why she convinced Carol to come along.
Lisa, don't be telling any tall tales to Jo or Carol and scaring them.

BTW...I've resigned as navigator...Carol has more experience Up NAWTH than I do....so I will keep the log. And Lauren will keep an eye out for food places,,and maybe ice cream parlors. Jo

Good luck - I'd love to see how that van is packed on the return trip!! How long do you expect to be gone?? Within a day or 2 of course, allowing for road construction, Lol! It will be a great adventure for all!! We'll be looking for daily updates too!

We are planning on about 10 days, give or take a day or two. Jo, I can't believe you are giving up navigating!! Carol, I was just kidding about shopping at Bloomingdales, I DO NOT want to go thru NYC unless someone else is driving their own car and I've taken several valiums.
As for plants, I don't know if Jo and Carol will be as willing as you were Azalea to hold plants on their laps, lol. Guess we will have to stop and mail them home from time to time.

Hey, my birthday's July 25 - what a send-off! :) How big you want the sign, guys? And when will you roll through Ohio?

We should try to get the Ohio crew rounded up at our place for an afternoon when we know the day you'll be through. It'll be just like during marathons - we'll stand by the road and shove paper cups full of tepid water in your hands. ;)

Hey Y'all, I'm more than happy to share food and lodging with you,but in the plant department,picken's are SLIM.I'm not what you'd call one of your better gardners,LOL.As a matter of fact,you'll probably laugh when you see my stuff.
But since Carol is a master gardner,maybe she'll have some tips.

Carol, maybe we should take plants to Ginlyn. I may have an extra plant or two that I could bring, lol.

Hey, if you head for Ohio on the way back, I'm still on the route - south western corner Of New York STATE- about as far from that city as you can get. I'd LOVE to have you three stay for a rest on the way. Get out your maps go along the NY PA border just about as far west as it goes and you'll see us. 90 runs along the lake, but it's no trick to get here. I have food, lodging and plants! hehe

I sure wish you guy's could stop in southern NJ even if it were just for a few hour's!!!!! It is not too far from MD and I would just love to see you guy's!!!!!

I am in awe of all of the generosity and hospitality from everyone! After the round-up you think I would have learned by now.... :o)

Hmmmm, now I am three hours from the Ohio crew and two hours from Mystic. Where do I fit in on this wild ride?? LOL You guys still planning to stay the night, stop by or do I need to catch you somewhere else?? Are you strapping Jo's rocker on the roof?? :)

Michele - Howie and I are planning to have a cold-cuts/sandwichy lunch here on whatever day the gals will be rolling through. We don't know the date yet, but any DG subscribers in the area are welcome to drop by. We'll need hard numbers closer to the date.

If I had to answer right now, I would say there is no way I can make the three hour drive. My butt is barely unpuckered from the last trip.

Just let me know in time and I'll be there. I don't know about the plants, I am still planting seeds trying to fill up naked spots in the garden but I will show up with bells on my toes lol. I can't wait to meet you all. I will be keeping my eye's open for the date.
I was looking under the Ohio Roundup, and just got a clue from Carol that the tread was here...I amost missed it.

Do you have a guesstimated date you'll arrive in Maine?

OK...Kathleen...sorry I put you in PA instead of NY...might have missed out on the nice green bench!! Ruby42...I looked at the map, and you had told me that you were 150 miles from Baltimore...is there anyway that you and Jody (where is she by the way?) and anyone else near them, could meet us near Ginlyns and Sgtdots...maybe a wee bag lunch in a park or something. We will probably have to stick rather close to I-95 going up.

Zeb, It doesn't look like our route is going to take us through Arlington....but that isn't that far from Forest Hill, Md....can you meet us there too?

If anyone wants to meet us in Forest Hill area...then we will need to infringe on my dear cousin's hospitality an extra night...to have a wee round up in the park.

GW it is so nice of you to offer your home as a meeting place and that's where I will be meeting everyone, don't have the funds to do all of the other cities.
