This past 6 months have thrown up 3 plant surprises in the garden. First it was a proliferation on Calendula Greenheart, the Ranunculus ficaria has several new seedlings, 3 with quite stark leaf colouration and pattern. Today I spotted a seedling of Primula veris - Cowslip, with a brownish flower. None of these genetic variations are rare but they are unexpected. For 2 years I tried to grow Cowslips from seed. I gave up and bought a plant instead, in the past 4 years it's heirs have populated quite an area but this is the first brown I've seen in the group.
Anybody else have any plant variations appear?
A Garden of Surprises
Jeeze.........Baa....took me a couple of seconds to recognize your hand as a human form...I need more coffee!!
"eyes"
Don't worry "eyes", all that hair on the back of her hand's enough to fool anyone. Don't have werewolf blood in the family as well as welsh do you Baa? LOL :*)
Beautiful cowslip Baa.
Baa - that is a neat one. You'll have to get another picture when the plant is full size. I can't say I've had any great variations appear.
Oh good heavens, first it's hairy feet and now it's hairy hands!!
I have had odd things show up, but in my case it's more a fit of forgetfullness. Right now everything is under a new foot of snow - gads, this gets to be a bore!!!
Oh Baa...I would love to visit your garden. The only surprizes I get are weeds :-( Keep showing pictures of your beautiful flowers - thanks, vic
I'm with you, Kathleen. I'm just a garden voyeur these days. The only thing growing around here is under lights in the basement.
Baa: What a beauty! You will collect seeds, I hope! Don't let these gals give you grief about your photo. Give 'em a little artistic editing such as your "fade to hand", and they give you grief about it! It's the artist's cross to bear!
Waht are you talking about? Hairy hands are in fashion right now. Tsk tsk ;)
Poppysue, I hope this one clumps up. I only have a kiddies digital camera, I'm going to have to invest in a proper one soon so I can take some decent photos.
LOL Kathleen poor you, the snow will be gone soon to allow your violets to run amok :)
Vic
Thanks! LOL if you came to visit (you are always welcome) you'd see an awful lot of weeds here too :)
WZ
When I get the time I must learn how to use the camaera software properly! I will try and collect the seeds but they are likely to come out as yellow plants with the possibility of producing a brownish flower somewhere along the line. I couldn't isolate it in time.
