Omg Karen,
Surely upsets can be made right..
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chatting with friends old and new..
Betty, I have known several people who get "taped" and it has helped tremendously. I hope you get lots of benefit from it.
Linda, who is with her the kennel? Do you have a 2nd dog I forgot?
My son and daughter in law have 2 grown cane corsos and a miniature pincher. Lizzie is in the kennel with the miniature pincher. The cuddle all day long.
The tape Pat is working,it comes off Saturday, have to find someone to drop 8n and take it off..not sure if it’s done as a routine procedure but how to heck could I do it, not a one person job
Not hard to see Lindakay that you are a dog family, beautiful animals..miss my Sailor girl, wish I could have another border collie but I’m too old, would mean someone else might have to look after it. How is your sister?
Was a grand day here, although I did not go out, now that is a fib, wind got so strong the blew my 4” fall sign over, it landed on my pot of flowers and soil all over, i picked most off but decided to leave the rest until tomorrow so it can dry up and likely able to sweep it off carpet
Mary who gave me all that beautiful fabric and machine had messaged me asking if I could make a frog for her grandson who is turning 6, he has autism and she thought he would love it, she just dropped in for it, i surprised her with a regular size frog..
Didn’t buy bakery goods yesterday NOT spending $7.99 & 8.99 for six muffins so while waiting for Mason to come and help me clean 7nder back deck I made some and didn’t even burn them
Peighton’s mom send me photos showing how excited she was with bowl caddies she made last night
I have always loved dogs.
Love those frogs. I think I have a pattern for them. Need to make some to heat in the microwave for neck warmers.
Kathy is increasing her meds almost daily. They had a hospital bed delivered yesterday, and she says it's easier get in and out of with the railings to help her. Hospital will be there tomorrow for her checkup. I will wait to hear what's going on before I fly back up to Michigan.
Good plan Linda.
Betty, those baked goods look YUMMY! Peighton does look proud. THAT is what makes the sewing classes worth your time & effort. I am glad to hear the tape is helping.
Karen, I am hoping you are finding some relief either thru meds or PT, or prayer.
Marie & I met with architect, and it will be 3 weeks before he has the plans drafted. UGH. We loaded up more puzzles for my house and we dressed about 12 more 18 inch dolls and got them all boxed up for delivery. Stuffed animals, games & dolls are loaded in my car for donation today at SARC, Support, Advocacy, and Resource Center. They are a kind of program that deals with any & all kinds of family crisis. Sexual , physical and emotional abuse as well as other social ills.
Another sunshine day in my neck of the woods.
Lindakay, puppies/kitties help with healing of the heart..it’s great that the health system provide such aids to those who need them at home. Yes, being able to adjust the bed to ease the pain will be a help. I believe i sent you copy of the frog pattern, small and large frog?? Mary who picked up the frogs yesterday afternoon messaged me, said she used hers and love it.
That it does Pat, these kids are so happy leaving with their finished pieces..i am amazed a lot of time at what they can accomplish. I didn’t think Mason in his 2nd year of high school would come back but he did. The newspaper that included all the store flyers went bankrupt so his job in delivery since he was 4 is no longer, he told me he had to earn $$$ as he needed his investments to continue..for the life of me i can’t remember how much he has but it is substantial, planning for university..been nice having him come after school thursday evenings, back shed and under the closed deck has been done, told him on the 12th after Thanksgiving we will put all the garden decor away, he said tomorrow he has 3 hrs to put in for an elderly couple doing outdoor cleaning so I am sure in the long run he will make up the $$$ he made delivering the paper.
Tape did help a bit but it means the pulsing of Dr.Ho can’t go through the tape and i can’t add cbd salve so although it helps I will go for the alternative. I will look at the pharmacy for the wide tape and maybe when at its worse i can get someone to tape my back.
This morning I cut grass and rounded up leaves and mulched until I ran out of gas, trying to talk myself 8nto going to get gas but think i will wait until I go do my shopping.
Mom would not let anyone pick her up, she is driving up in the morning.she said she has a cement fountain she thought I’d like and is bring it up for me, here i am cleaning out things and I am getting more, guess I could just say no lol
The SARC organization sounds as though it does great work, bet they appreciate your dolls and toys…that reminds me someone donated a few to me, must find a shelter and donate them.
3 weeks isn’t long to get the plans Pat, think municipalities building department tend to pass plans that have been designed and builders vs anyone taking on the job.
Have that arm rest pillow i use to keep the blankets up at end of bed so blankets don’t touch my feet so I put it on the couch and pushing my back into it, feels good. I should be doing something though.
My thoughts was to bring a rotary cutter and Matt upstairs and cut out fabric for that seasonal pillow, once cut i might from time to time broader a piece but then it means being hunched over and using upper body movement in the cutting.p so what can I do?
Beautiful pillow Betty.
Sure does suck, getting older. We all have aches and pains that can't be helped by anything.
Lindakay, Sharon was just telling me the fabric store in Cookstown has the most beautiful Christmas fabrics, think she said $23.99 meter..I’ve 2 shelves full, about 8 Christmas panels and there they sit, big sigh… you are right, it sucks
Not giving up though, I’ll pay the price and continue sewing but a problem is I’ve made everyone so many quilts. And in every corner i have quilts so what to do?? Think i will do one and donate for a raffle, always a good cause
Had roast beef left, didn’t want another meal of it but didn’t want it to go bad, i took out my electric chopper, did onions, half a dill, good chunk of roast beach, mulched it til it was almost mulch then added mayo to it, talk about yummy sandwiches.
Had my bath, climbed into bed, just got comfy in bed and wouldn’t you know it, i could hear the ice cream truck come down the road, wouldn’t a banana split be yummy?
Glad the tape is helping, Betty. Is that like KT tape? I use that on my knees when I'm going to be running at dog shows. It does make a difference.
Got a text message from the guy with the puppy in Colorado. He's not turning out to be show quality, and he doesn't want to wait for him to mature. Currently he has an underbite. His mother had an underbite at this age, too, and by the time her adult teeth came in, it was fine. I told him, but, he wants him gone. I was asked to come and get him asap. So, all my plans for the weekend are shot, and, I'm leaving Saturday morning for Colorado to get my puppy back. This is the bad part of, "if for any reason, at any age, you don't want, or can't keep him, I will come and get him." No one's ever taken me up on that before!
Wrote this yesterday, and forgot to hit send!!
Sunshine morning, best time of the year…
I have a full day with young ones then shopping in Midland, by then good lord willing mom will be here, hate her driving that entire way on her own and she will not let us pick her up
Oh Deb, that is one heck of a long drive..Sharon has something similar in her contracts, will ask her if she has had that problem. Poor dog will be confused.
He says not show quality, can you tell that early? Drive safe and let us know when you get back please
Waving to all, Evan just called my name from downstairs.
Don't over do it today Betty.
Not going to Colorado this weekend after all. Got a call around 8pm last night, telling me they decided they want to wait a little longer. They were saying that he has an under bite. Usually the lower jaw is the last to grow, and his lower teeth are a little in front of his uppers, but, they're still mostly baby teeth, some adult ones are starting to come in. I told him that I can't come out there until Nov, so they'll have to wait if they want to send him back. I have plans for the next 4 weekends that I can't/won't change. At least this gives me a chance to catch up on everything that didn't get done because I was driving to PA last weekend. Didn't even go to training class this morning, just taking it easy.
Deb, when a buyer returns the dog, do they get a refund of their money? For everyone's (the dog's) sake, I hope the time for maturing will cure the problem and he develop into what they want.
I have my young helper back - he & his parents reconcilled, and he did a wonderful job of clearing my garden yesterday. Wyatt's such a nice young man. Turned 16 last week. All that's left in my garden is 3 tomato plants, 4 jalepeno pepper plants, 4 asparagus plants, and 1 strawberry plant. We put some cement slabs where the raspberry canes were cut down. I'm thinking about putting RoundUp on them. Not sure if this will cure my overage of them running through all my garden, but we'll see.
There is a Brush Killer that probably would be more effective. Raspberry & Blackberry are a little more "hardy" that your average weed!!
Pat, if a puppy comes back not too long after they got him, I would refund their money. I've never had a puppy come back, except as a 3 year old adult. No refund on him. She didn't ask for one either, just wanted him gone. He lived out his life with me. I think if one of mine ended up in a bad situation and they wanted their money back, I would, just to get the dog. My puppies generally go to people I already know, so it's easy to keep track of how they're doing.
You have to wonder why after 3 years someone would surrender a dog. I had to surrender my cat when I lived in Othello and it nearly killed me! She tripped my husband twice and it was not safe for her or him. She was such an amazing cat. I would have had no trouble rehoming her, but I signed an agreement that if the cat could ONLY be returned, never rehomed.
Marie met with my realtor about a market analysis and we have appointments to look at homes on Tuesday.. I laughed and told Marie "Well, our current plan as of 7PM Sunday is that we will get my house listed ASAP & yours as well." The uncertainty of cost of the remodeling & worse, the length of time until we can even START is so unpredictable, the stress was eating her alive. She just wants to move on with this next stage in her life. If my house sells, Marie will have no trouble coming up with the remainder of the money necessary to buy our "together house", we won't have to wait until her house sells to have the money.
Pat is there a reason she isn't moving in with you, or you in with her?
Beautiful morning here in texas.Texas. 66, high of 82 today.
I splurged and bought a husqvarna longarm machine this past weekend.
Now my son is scrambling, trying to rearrange his home, trying to figure out the best place for it.
Hi everyone, I’m new here. Been on Dave’s garden for about a year. I’m a new gardener, grew up with my mom gardening and decided to take up the hobby for myself with her guidance. I have learned LOTS in the last two years mostly from my mistakes. I’m gone much of the summer so I owe all the success to the automatic water system and some really great neighbors. Will have more time this fall and winter to do some studying and planning for next year. I live in Zone 6b and mostly grow vegetables to can and freeze but would like to grow more flowers in the coming years as well.
There is a Brush Killer that probably would be more effective. Raspberry & Blackberry are a little more "hardy" that your average weed!!
I'll check to see if my local fertilizer place has Brush Killer.
Everything's closed today because of our new Federal observance Sept 30th (which was a Saturday, so it's officially closing places on Monday) - "National Day for Truth & Reconciliation" about the history of residential schools and to recognize the survivors and honor the victims of these institutions.
Dropping in with a quick hi
Weather has been great
Suzanne fell in Friday, 216/94 I believe, waiting for heart doctor, not sure why they wouldn’t send her to the one who did surgery on her heart about 4 years ago?
Had a great birthday for mom and my brother Bernie yesterday, mom drive up on her own, talking about going home Wednesday or Thursday.
I go to get results Re hip and shoulder tomorrow afternoon, hope something shows why pain is increasing.
The meds they gave me for blood pressure is keeping it from go8ng sky high then bottom out. I saw when i visited Suzanne yesterday they gave her same med..hooe it helps her
Deb, so hoping they become attached to the dog..Sharon has a bit to wait to find out if her dog she just bred in Tennessee has taken
Lindakay how are you doing?
Thinking of you Karen
Susan, can see you are doing mega outside work before that white stuff comes..
Dianne, how is the wood piling going? This is our Thanksgiving weekend and of course they are calling for rain.
Sharon, bet it’s hot in your neck of the woods.
I think it's natural in the human when new friends come the human forget the old one ..
Sounds like you have been busy with your mom being there. Glad she had a safe trip.
I will be flying back to Michigan Thursday. My sister isn't doing well. She is so weak she stays in bed most of the day uses a wheelchair when she has to use the restroom. Her pain is increasing and she takes her pain meds hourly. Her breathing has slowed way down.
Beautiful beautiful day..
Sorry to hear about your sister getting worse Lindakay, will you stay until the end or back to look after your medical needs.
Mom just left to spend a few hours with Sharon
I’m just about ready to vacuum as i brought the fabric i had upstairs to cut for those seasonal pillows then off at 1:30 to see Dr.Jones.
Mom’s plan is to leave tomorrow for home, i will try to talk her into staying until Thursday.
Well Betty, your weather is warmer than ours but we will catch up and pass you in a few days. I have done some clean up in the front garden. I tried to fix a landscape light but no go. So I am going to study some videos to try and determine what I did wrong. It may take me awhile but that is how you learn. Our high today will be 74 and low of 54. We even had snow in the mountains.
Betty, so pleased you are enjoying your mother's visit. I cannot believe she is driving that far at 92. My daughter would not allow me to do it even now. I think I could but you never know. Wishing good luck for Sharon's dog getting with puppies.
Linda, so sorry about your sister. May she be peaceful and not know how much pain she is in. Having you there will be a great comfort for her. My sister just had a best friend die and it was so comforting when she died because she was so sick. The family and friends was thankful she was now in heaven and no longer in pain.
Susan, where are you. So pleased the young man's family got back together. Now you can slowly counsel the young man on how his problems might lead to his parents problems and he should try to make it easier on them by being a good example. Maybe you can find him other jobs to keep him busy. Help him make a budget. Some money to spend, some money to save. What are his goals are and how to save some of the money and what is he going to save for. Majority of the young children today do not even know about budgets. You could change this young man's life.
Dianne, Hope you got all of your wood in and into place. My two brothers are working on their supply. But they have younger lads to help them. There is also a honor camp just out of town and the State has the inmates help the elderly in the surrounding towns with their snow removal and placing the wood. How is your herd.
Betty, I am waiting with my fingers crossed your got good news on your Dr. visit.
Later.
’s but soon the cold will be here,
It basically is what I’ve been told
Hip is full of sore arthritis
Shoulder
Torn rotor cuff and in upper shoulder a thickness with liquid it it putting pressure on nerve
So injection in hip and shoulder every 3 months and therapy and be watchful not to aggravate
Says wouldn’t recommend surgery, recovery a long time and could end up with frozen shoulder and worse
I will be staying for 2 weeks. As fast as she is going downhill, I don't think it will be much longer.
Betty, praying those injections work. Arthritis sucks.
Going to call this month “hotober”
We broke a record yesterday to high temps and same for today..record for in the 50’s
Such long trips for you to make Lindakay, May the Lord do best and release her of her pain. So overwhelming to watch them suffer like that. Hugs and prayers.
I’ve went to therapy this morning, got a sheet of exercise for the week, bout an attachment for the door to use for pulling, should look for a large beach ball for other
Things i must do… you are right that arthritis is annoying.
I’m waiting on a call from Rita who will be passing here at some point, thought we would make a visit to Suzanne’s, seeing i got home about 2 hrs ago and i was at therapy she might have passed by.
Juju embroidered posted other designs for the pillow I am doing, although I’ve got what I need cut out i haven’t sewn nor applique’d sections so why i thought it necessary to buy next series is beyond me 😜
This morning when backing. out of the yard i have a certain spot i turn my car around, didn’t see mom had parked there, saw a little scratch on her wheel well, on mine a little so hip of black missing but no dents..have to pay more attention.
She has an appointment for X-ray Friday, was suppose to leave today (her decision) when I got in from therapy she asked if I minded her staying an extra day??
I was not happy with her, yesterday when she was at Sharon’s she mentioned that i didn’t lo9k like i wanted her to stay any longer so when she asked about the extra day i told her i was very annoyed, she is right at home here, i cook good meals, go about my business with the little ones in the evening then go to bed early and at no point have i ever given her indication I’d like her to leave grrrrr
I read to catch up & know I'll miss commenting on the many things, sorry!
Linda, for everyone's sake, ESPECIALLY your sister, I hope she is out of pain soon. the end can be such a blessing.
Betty, don't you just HATE that? Sorry your mom plans that game.
ahvccenter, do you think so? I continue to reach out to my old friends. I try to stay in touch with former co-workers that became friends as well
Sharon, unfortunately the young man may have also been acting out BECAUSE of the tension at home. While I would not want him to ADD to the tension in the family, I sure would NOT want him to take the blame for it. Too many kids think THEY CAUSED the problem when the kid's behavior was the reflection of their parents's problems, not the other way around.
Hungryhotshot, Welcome, we hope to see you frequently!
We went house hunting yesterday. I am more concerned about the difficulty Marie is showing with working memory. After looking at 5 houses she frequently got them mixed up, the features etc.
We had considered moving into Marie's house together but the length of time it will take to make the remodeling changes to make that comfortable will likely take too long and be too expensive. We are trying to find something closer to meeting our needs without all the extra remodeling. When we realized that what we needed would be within our budget WITHOUT as many renovations, we decided to do more looking! Part of the issue is the county she lives in. They DRAG their feet & find every reason in the book to reject your building permit.
Betty - MORE pain? Not good. You mom is an argumentative person, for sure
:Linda - Pat's right, the end will be a blessing with the pain she's in.
Pat - yes, buying move-in ready would be cheaper than reno, and the waiting time to get it ready. Here's hoping you can find one sooner rather than later.
Going to be 74F this weekend. No snow in the forcast, but it has recently dropped to below zero. Yes, this is Alberta lol
Bowling starts on Thurs. Oct 26th we've been asked to cater again, this time for 100 people, just desserts, and sandwiches for 15 (organizers, who are there all day). This Saturday I'm going to a Blanket Exercise, which has nothing to do with exercise, but is The blanket exercise is an interactive educational program that teaches the history of colonization in Canada. The program was created in response to the 1996 report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples, and is used as a teaching tool across Canada.
I do have a lot going on - too much to mention here, cuz that would be hijacking this chat lol
Ohhh didn’t scroll up far enough, missed our newcomers, welcome?
Susan that Blanket exercise sounds very interesting. This week there are many Aboriginal events going on, my kids have VH been participating. You will definitely have to tell us more. You love bowling but didn’t you have trouble with your knee last year, a fall.
Pat will take you both a lot of house hunting to find something that meets both your needs, wish you luck, are your houses gone sky hi? Kyle was looking to rent a house, here is what many are contending with in our region * couldn’t find the advertisements..they go for 2500.-3600. A month plus utilities..little falling down homes with no land to buy are over $500k
Bet Sharon our weather past few days equal yours but on the downswing starting this weekend.next week if body permits i am doing fall clean up. Actually shut the pond water feature down this week.
Welcome to our newcomers!
Betty - that fall was just a tiny hiccup. I'm fine for bowling.
Getting ready for our first Friday Night Games at Silver Willow. I "bombed" the hall with insect killer, and they've been dropping all over lol
When a group we catered for finally gave us their donation cheque for it last Wed, they also gave us a gift basket of cheeses, pate, crackers, etc, (likely worth $100). We're using it for any time we have people in - games, crib, coffeetime, etc. It's nice not having to bake or bring anything from home :)
A neighbour cut the legs down on 3 bar stools, and delivered them today. He even put furniture pads on the bottom. I was going to do that, as I have a lot of them, and he only charged me $25 total! Now, I need to condition & stain the table to match the seats of the chairs.
Bett, do NOT agree to anything that has the least chance of a frozen shoulder. Worst pain I've ever had for the longest time. It still goes on with no hope of ever ending.
No Karen, although I am i mega pain won’t do anything that has any chance of increasing pain. is that what you have Karen? Did they do any procedure on you?
Susan that was a nice thank you gift and so was cutting down the legs on the stool for $25.00, hope you can post a photo of the finished project.
Mom left this morning, apparently there was construction work and she got lost, took her an hour longer to get home but she did and is safe enjoying her home.
I decided that the project i wanted to do for Christmas gifts is very time consuming so brought my embroidery upstairs and put it on the coffee table,That way i can enjoy the sunshine which I did today, but, storm she moved in, thunder and lightening, I have 3,000 stitches to do part 1 of 2 on the fall piece, I did a set of fall earlier and thought as I will not be doing these as Christmas gifts, way too expensive and time consuming that seeing I cut out 3 pillows I might as well do the fall sets 3 times..Just need to trim and sew 2 panels to make insert..sure don’t want to lose power at this moment.
Never got ou t of my nightie..i washed all the bedding on the bed in mom’s room and draped the blankets outside to dry, when I made the bed it smelled so fresh that i am almost tempted to sleep in that room tonight. Miss my clothes line, must get another!
Betty, my frozen shoulder was from two weeks in a cast. I believe the cast was on wrong as it was painfil from the get go. I removed it my self after two weeks because of the pain and have suffered ever since and most likely will. Plus lost range of motion in my arm. Will most likely never get it back. It makes sewing difficult but not impossible. I cannot dress my self. Great fun if I have to use public restroom, can't even pull my own pants up. I do as much as I can and then Walt helps.
Oh my goodness Karen that is a lot to contend with, here we take the knowledge without question think they know bedt…scary stuff, the frozen shoulder from oak of use to arm ?
And yes, you are so lucky to have your Walt
Dud my exercises but think they aggravate it
I had shoulder pain for several months, thinking it as from straining it gardening. After resting it for a while I would garden again and it came back. Finally got myself to a great dr ( he was affiliated with our college football team) testing and found out I had bone spurs that were tearing my rotator cuff muscle. Surgery then weeks of physical therapy. The physical therapy was actually more painful than the surgery but I kept at it with the nagging and support of my husband. I regained complete motion after about 6 months. Then a couple of years later, the exact same pain on the other side. The same diagnosis, surgery and PT. According to the dr some people are born with the tendency to develop the spurs which then tear into the muscle over time. So I sympathize with anyone who suffers from shoulder or arm pain. It’s miserable and I was lucky to have found the dr the physical therapist who helped me regain pain free motion.
