I am here an doing well. Cough is just about gone. I slept well last night and that is a blessing. Neighborhood gardeners dropped me off bags of leaves. Probably have close to 15 large bags of leaves. Some gardeners from Las Vegas are dropping by tomorrow to pick up some bags of leaves. The rest we will mow and add to my compost pile.

We are going to PF Chang's for dinner and then to the Giving Machine after dinner. This is a machine that is in a nearby mall and you can choose how much you want to give and to which charity.

We have a high today of 54 and a low of 42. Feels cold to us. Also cloudy.

Susan, sounds like you have some really special friends. God bless them. Take care of yourself. Also you should create a chain of friends that can contact each other daily so everyone knows everyone is OK.

Karen, I am 80 and I plan on making 90.

Betty that photo is awful. That is cold.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Betty.
Just what you needed, to be exposed to covid. Praying you don't get it.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Arrghhh Stanley just "helped me" lose my post. I'll write tomorrow

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, imagine 45f here

Deb, 58 is a spring day for winter rime right?

Sharon, i have never heard of a giving machine, what a novel way of doing donations.
PF Changs is Chinese correct? You will have a full day. Glad your cough is nearly gone, just don’t overdo. Your compost must love you..i have several pots of flowers over Christmas so when i was a norms garden gallery I bought some earth, i worked a few pots that weren’t looking to healthy and made 2 containers vs 4, now i hope I don’t kill them.

Karen, Ziggy has done that to me a few times, not on iPad but laptop, loves walking on the keys.

Karen, how was your supper?

Susan, feeling a tad better.

Lindakay have you put your sweaters away?

i worked an hour forging my way to back deck to put the Xmas trip and put out 5 more totes in under the deck storage area. As I’d make a load out back I’d bring 8n empty totes for the basement Christmas things..guess I’ll take it down after New Years wether or not the kids come..upstairs looks so big with everything boxed up.

Had an e mail last night, Linda had to take Dave to emerge again, 5 hour wait.end results is call you doctor Tuesday..

Suzanne had told me about Lenny’s cancer but they didn’t want anyone knowing as with 10 siblings it would be too much. Was surprised when Lenny called this morning to tell me about it, he went to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto yesterday for PET scan to see if it’s only in his lungs or spread into other areas, results January 6th.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
I still have my sweaters out, I know Temps will drop again before it warms up in March.
Sorry to hear of everyone sick. Keeping them in our prayers.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

"Call your Dr Tues"? That's not a result - it's a "we don't know what it is, or what to do" My goodness! I hope Lenny gets good results. Nice that he called you personally.
Yeah, when you take own decorations, it leaves the home looking so empty!
I'm glad you're feeling better, Betty.
Sharon - glad the cough is FINALLY almost gone. It's hung on for quite awhile.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

How is Luca doing??
I am hoping all are safe & warm, thank goodness it sounds like most of us have temperatures that have become more moderate. Although, like Linda, I know there will be colder weather again before it's gone!

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Garden worker is here and we got the total area by the compost area cleaned. I have more than 15 bags of leaves that need to be mowed and then spread all over the garden. We are going to spread the leaves, then cover them with soil and then let nature take it's course.

My Christmas decorations are still out but will be put away sometime next week. I will not be doing it. I will hire someone to do it.

PF Chang's is a fine dining Chinese franchise. It was a fun evening. Oldest granddaughter and her husband announced they are expecting a baby mid July. I really blew my eating plan. But I will just get immediately back to it. We had the two babies with us last night. Eloise will be 3 in March and George just turned 1. You could see the people seated around us were not happy. They were absolutely quiet and happy and enjoyed eating and laughing. Only George cried one time when mommy left to take Eloise to go potty. It could have been terrible because you never know when they are going to be angels and when little terrors. We were blessed last night.

Betty, the giving machine is a product of the Mormon Church. We went last night and bought a goat, some chickens, some glasses for eyesight and meals for the homeless children. Each family group bought their own.

Tuesday is my daughter's 61st birthday so our next celebration will be Tuesday.

Pat, losing a post is so frustrating. I have done it often. I am so looking forward to a new year for you and you getting your home back. And your gardening without all of the dogs. They will find it difficult to rent with a dog. My son who lives in Spokane is not to happy with the rain on top of the snow.

Susan, how are you feeling today?

Kids are on their way over with my Costco order. Each week my order gets less and less. Garden helper is walking the dog, so just about time for me to head to my bedroom, sit in my overstuffed chair and chill for the rest of the day.

I spoke with my sister and her Covid is getting better. My sister-in-law has cancer of her esophagus. The doctors in Provo, Utah think they caught it soon enough. She is getting chemo and radiation. Being a down-winder, she will also get $50,000 from the government. My brother has already got his stipend from the government because he had a kidney removed due to cancer. For you that do not know, a down winder is an individual that lived in an area that the clouds from the above ground atomic bomb testing drifted over and contaminated the area. Not all cancers are eligible.

Linda, your area is like mine. February is always windy and cold. But I have already ordered my coleus for next year and getting ready to order my tomatoes. It was 57 degrees here today and when it got cloudy, I got cold. We have thinner blood, so we get cold easier.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I talked to Adam last night, they have submitted their papers to get prequalified so will be home hunting in earnst soon.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks for asking, Sharon - I'm feeling better thanks. I still "bounce back" even at my age lol Partly due to hard & fast care that I recover pretty quickly. I won't be out dancing tonight, but at least I can walk straight again with just a tiny "hitch" in my step.
Yes, time to chill out and relax, Sharon. Lovely that the kids are bringing your order to you. Wow -- a new baby! How wonderful :) A down-winder - that makes sense. Good that they probably caught it soon enough and that she's eligible.
Hurray Pat, that they can finally look for a home in earnest!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone,

Sharon, congratulations, nothing like seeing little ones running around..PF Chang sounds like our Chinese food chain of Mandarin, every king of food imaginable, expensive but if you have a big appetite then it’s worth it.
Not a wonder you are resting, look at the amount of work you’ve done I’m always so happy to get leaves picked up that i best do some leaf layering in the gardens.
My kids are in mid 50’s and sometimes I feel old, mom always says to think of her, she will soon have a 75 year old..very interesting about being a down-winder..i keep seeing adds that say to contact them and they fight for you to get funds if you’ve been in certain areas..glad they think they caught it on time.

Pat, how long does it take to find out if you qualify or not..you will have to throw a party when they leave.

Kyle, Destiny and Grayson are coming for a visit this afternoon once Grayson has had his nap…i haven’t seen him walk yet..Jeff will drop in for a short visit, he and Greg have 2 hrs left of their drive, the Jeff 2 more to his house so he will also drop in for 1/2 hour, fog will make hard driving..

Imagine, blizzard of the decade and now spring thaw… big sigh

I haven’t told anyone except Sharon who invited me for supper that i cannot move, back/hip are gone..have sweets on coffee table and can’t even turn to reach the, better for my weight..don’t ask what happened..i deserve it…

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

OH NO, Betty......... so sorry to hear that you're not moving! What are you taking for this - muscle relaxer, or pain meds? No, you Don't deserve this, no one does.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeff dropped in, gave me SOFT talking to, even with his help to get up i had the hardest time, even teary eyes..got to say had he not come I’d have wet myself.there was 5-6 totes left on back deck so he put them away..i won’t get off so easy with Greg😜

Kyle,Destiny and Grayson came shortly after Jeff left, they stayed an 1 1/2 hrs...he helped me up a couple of times. I had to roll myself off couch, lift myself on coffee table the hold Kyle’s hands. Grrr

I am now in bed, bed is high, i have it set in a “u” position taking some of the pressure off my back.

What are you all doing this New Year’s Eve?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you're hurting so bad. Praying the pain is better tomorrow.

Happy new year everyone.
Not doing much here. Probably be in bed in an hour.

Victoria Harbour, ON

happy New Year everyone.

Overcast today, snow later this afternoon but it will not be a great amount, then rain in a few days, weird weather.

Greg’s 54th birthday today and anniversary of Roger’s death, 32nd year..some days seems like yesterday.

I managed to get out of bed, not easiest thing to do but made it…walking around i am sure helps. I will make a coffee, put my feet on dr Ho pad and hope it helps a bit.

There is knitting on the coffee table, doing washcloths ,am hoping to find an easy toque pattern and make toques for the homeless.

Don’t dare lay down 8n fear of not being able to get myself up.

Any plans for today??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning. Glad to hear you are taking it easy today. Happy birthday to Greg.
Not doing much today.
Today is our anniversary. 24 years.

Verona, ON

Happy New Year everyone !!

Betty you know your body but sometimes you don't listen to it. Be careful for the next too days. What do you have for pain and are you using it ?

For some reason I was I was able to say up till midnight. I was watching the Nashville New Year's so the entertainment was great.

Wishing you all a happy , healthy New Year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy 24th anniversary Todd & Lindakay..

Happy New Years to you Dianne, never thought of Nashville New Year’s Eve celebrations..i would never have made it to watch the new year come in.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I didn't even turn on the TV. Emma and I sat here and watched a series on Netflix. We had a nice rain last night. Woke me up at 4am it was raining so hard. This afternoon it spit a little bit of rain. My daughter has a cold and did not go to church today so I begged off from dinner. She has her hands full. Emma and I had two nice walks today but that was about it. I just had a tamale my friend made for me with some Costco chili and sour cream. Very tasty. At my age, a small can of chili from Costco, and it is good, is all I need. i left over half of it for Brian.

I already had one guy come by and pick up 5 large bags of leaves. Another gardener, female, is coming Wednesday to pick up some more.

So Betty, where did you fall or pull your back out. Doing something you were not suppose to do.

Someone is at my door, I will return.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Congrats Linda & Todd, that is very sweet.
sharon, wise decision on skipping dinner.
Betty... sometimes we just can't help ourselves!
Good to hear from you Dianne.
Susan, I am happy to hear you are feeling better already.
Karen?? Where are you?
I went to Yakima to have dinner with Ben's daughter & her son, his niece Heather, & a few others. Heather I got to spend several hours together before others arrived and I got some private time with Ben's brother Mark. Mark's wife went home earlier. There is still alot I don't know about their upbringing etc.
I had a wonderful visit but drove home in thick fog & didn't get home until 3AM.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you made that trip ok. I can't see to drive at night.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thanks, I don't like to drive at night and will not in unfamiliar places. My coping technique for the highway is to find a car or truck that is driving a speed that is comfortable for me, stay a good distance behind them & follow. I can then use THEIR headlights & taillights to assist with lighting. I give them PLENTY of space.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, know i wrote a post but who knows what i did with it..

Sharon, almost everyone you talk to is either sick or has family that are sick, best not take a chance.rain here as well, not looking forward to the freezing rain later in the week. Isn’t tamale really spicy?

Pat, bet it was nice meeting up with Ben’s family..do you think they had a hard upbringing?

been on couch all day, heat on my back, got up a few minutes ago to see my ‘Merci’ chocolate bar melted in the couch..guess I fell asleep with it.

I too am poor at driving at night, glare of the lights get to me so day driving it is.

Joanne and Henri were here fora few hours visit, was nice of them..brought me roses, I just love getting flowers.

Days are long just laying on the couch. Am trying to talk myself into making something for supper.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Today is my daughter's 61st birthday. We are going to her favorite taco place for dinner and then back to her house for cake. We have to go to dinner early because Eloise, 3 in March, does not do well on an empty stomach. So I am going over to my daughter's and then riding with them.

I also do not do well at night unless I know where I am. My housekeeper is here an my house looks so nice. I have an appointment tomorrow for my annual blood draw to see how I am doing. I have a virtual Dr. appointment next week.

Betty, these tamales were mild. Home made and delicious.

My back landscape in the greenbelt has been invaded by a large group of different birds. All taking to each other and driving my tuxedo cat crazy. I am getting ready to talk Emma for her afternoon walk, a little early so I can head over to Tracy's.

Pat, that is a good way to travel at night. So nice you could visit with Ben's family members.

Betty, I knew you did something you were not suppose to do. But I would do the same thing. But now I do not carry heavy things but I have many devices in my garage that help as long as I can lift them on to which ever one I am using. But I also do not have snow to deal with. I am so sorry you are in pain but that type of pain will only go away with rest.

I was going to go shopping today to try and find me some new dresses or skirts and tops for church. I decided to do it on line. But the time got away from me.

My brother, that lives in Reno, just got their power back on after 2 days off. Biggest problem was the water well didn't work without power so the chickens were not getting water so he carried many gallons out there this morning and as soon as he was finished, the power came back on.

I will check in tomorrow after my blood draw.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

There definitely. was major dysfunction in the family complicated by chaotic financial history.
ALL that work to provide water! Been there, done that. I am so sorry for your brother! Happy to hear he has water now

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

When I used to travel to TN often by my self, I would leave about 9 at night. I'm not good at night usually but it is because of the other cars glaring lights. By going at night and on the express way, they was much less traffic so not as much glare, I also liked to travel with the semis in bad weather. They can see better than I as the are up higher, they can't stop too fast, and best of all if anything is in the road they will clear it away. Followed one through a hurricane once.
I usually stop around 3 A.M. and sleep a while and go on in the morning.
My sewing room is about 75% ready. I have a few more totes to empty tomorrow but all the machines, cutting table, wall racks, and shelves are in place. It's smaller but I have everything I need where I need it. Maybe I can start sewing next week.
I am trying to get some of my medical records sent to present Oncologist. Problem is I need the ones from doctors where we lived up north. My leukemia is so well controll now that it doesn't show up in my blood work. Dr. here hasn't ever seen signs of it so he is uncomfortable prescribing my Chemo drug. I can understand that. My choices are to go off the drug and wait to see if it shows back up or if I have had by some miracle a cure. So far they are not calling remissions like mine a cure. Oncologist up north was the last to see it in my blood so I need her records.
Aslo need records from Gastroenterologist up there because he was the one hwo discovered the bleeding in my stomach and Dr. here wants Colonoscopy to see if it's in colon. At my age they should know better as a colonoscopy is more dangerous. I could easily have a tear and end up having to wear a bag....not going there. I can understand his side of it but I have to prove my side of it. I have no problem with going off the Chemo drug as long as he would be willing to keep testing to see if it gets bad again. I am no longer willing to just sit and nod my head just because a Dr. wants me to.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stick to your decisions Karen, you know your body better than anyone.

Betty, praying you are feeling better today.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, that is exciting about your sewing room. I am praying all records come for you

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, was up at 7 and asked myself why i was getting up, be more comfy in bed, nodded off a few times, tummy said it was hungry so toast and honey for me.

Sharon, happy birthday to your daughter. So wish I had birdies singing, don’t Understand why there are so few in my backyard yet neighbours across the street have many..Darlene was telling me that John bought her a heated birdbath for Christmas and read up that they need baths even in wintertime. Might have to order one and put it out front so i can watch from front window.

Send your housekeeper here please, between being sick those few weeks and now not being able to move it sure needs a going over. Maybe once Jeff and the boys come this weekend for Christmas and help me back up all that is downstairs i should call a girl i know and have her clean, all except craft room, that i would have to do.

I know someone that during winter months they keep their tub full of water so that they had water to flush toilet as their hydro went out often. Your brother had a long haul with hydro out for 2 days.

Wow Karen that would be quite a hike for you travelling to Tennessee on your own with most of driving being done during night..Sharon does a lot of driving and straight through, not I, I’m an up at 4am and drive til 6pm.remember the year Joanne came to florida, we flew but then drove Darlene’s car back? Joanne offered to come with me to help me with the drive then told me she didn’t drive highways, had a phobia lol

Karen, hard getting documents during Christmas and New Years, maybe now that offices will be back to semi normal they can get your documents to you.
How exciting that you will have a sewing room again, just knowing you can sew when you are up to it must make you smile.

My plan had been to go to Barrie and see what Lens Mill and Fabricland had on sale, that or a day across the border, spend, some,of my Christmas $$$ but seeing it’s a big ordeal getting up so no can do..am disappointed.

Best I can do is knit some dishcloths, that is boring

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you have your sewing area set up.
Betty, sorry to hear that you are still hurting. Wish there was more the doctors could do to help you.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I was a good girl and got up, didn't drink anything, walked my sweet dog and then took off for my blood draw. Got there in plenty of time and of course, they had nothing from the doctor's office. So I pleasantly left, was thanked by the tech for being so nice about it, and made my way to Trader Jo's for some eggs. Spent $66 and found gift cards that covered all of it. Some of those gift cards are over 3 years old.

I have another Vegas gardener coming over to pick up some bags of leaves tomorrow. And my garden helper is going to help me put away Christmas decorations.

Had fish tacos last night for daughter's birthday and more chips that I should have eaten but I do not do that very often.

Karen, you will probably feel better without the medicine for your cancer. Maybe it is all gone. That would be a blessing. So pleased your sewing room is close to being finished.

Betty, your back will fix itself but it does take time. I see your weather has not warmed up much. Ours is in a cool down. Barely in the mid 50s. Suppose to have rain on Thursday. Love all of the rain and snow in the mountains we are getting.

Hugs to all of you.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Went for a much needed haircut. It only takes a few minutes as I have so little left.
Went into sewing room when we got back and dia bit of fall back and regroup. My narrower shelving unit would fit in the closet if the closet shelf was removed. Freed up so much space in my room.Everything is pretty well where it goes now with the exception of what I have on my cutting table. Tomorrow I will tackle that and will be done.
My aunt who is 93 is coming to visit this weekend. Her SIL will bring her. Pondering what to make for lunch. Maybe a nice chicken salad on croissants. Add some fruits and cheese and a dessert. I know others will be dropping in also.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, that sounds like a very yummy, elegant lunch!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Went to say good morning, looked up and just missed it sooo good afternoon everyone.

Sharon it’s been a morning of rain, freezing rain and now rain…my bread expired yesterday, the best before and I hadn’t even opened it, even if I could get off the couch don’t think I’d try it.

Annoying though that you will have to make the appointment again. I’ve only been at Trader Joe’s once, quite a grocery store.

Karen, glad you are feeling up to getting haircut, one always feel better when hair looks good…bet as you open boxes and see your pretties wether it be fabric or sewing tools you get excited. I went downstairs this morning and thought i might do a few light things, went to move a big jar holding spools of thread, made a turn and pain moved up the hip, dropped the jar, glass all over, so that is it for today, back on couch for the day, 5 days, tired of this but this has nothing to do with my regular pain, it’s my stupidity, wanting Christmas away and heavy totes stored.

What will be your 1st project be Karen.
Your luncheon sounds yummy..when was the last time you saw your Aunt?

Wonder if i can use 2 slices of that day old bread, I’d like to have salmon sandwhich which i love but there is usually so little salmon left after I take all that yucky skin and bones off that there is barely enough for a sandwich… somebody once told me you can buy skinless and no bone salmon in a can but I’ve not found it yet

Best I go and make one..tummy is hungry

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, even Walmart here has skinless Salmon & pretty much every other store. I went with Marie yesterday to help her with Costco. I pushed a cart with 4, cases of water, 5 cases of Premier Protein and a few "other things" that Marie could not get in her cart. She only had a few things that were perishable, so I encouraged her to take out ONLY the perishables & have her grandkids move the rest the next day. We were both really aching all over by the time we were done.

Because my hair is so short and thick, I get a haircut every 4 weeks. My next appointment is booked before I even leave.

My sister in law Sharon had knee surgery before Christmas. I dropped off homemade soup and visited yesterday. We are going to try to make it a weekly habit to get together to craft. She just has not cultivated outside friendships and feeling that loneliness. Her daughter went back to work & they just don't have the time together like they did. Sharon is wonderful and we share a LOT of interests and always have a good time together. She babysits her grandson before and after school so that will give us boundaries on time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain Betty.
Pat, sounds like you will enjoy your time with your sister in law.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you and Todd doing Lindakay?

Pat, it’s salmon in can, i made out with this can I opened and enjoyed 2 sandwiches, gave some to Ziggy but not his thing. Shopping is the hardest thing for me to do, does me in, not a wonder you were aching. Glad you will meet with Sharon for some quality time.

Another wasted day, only positive thing I’ve done today is a load of wash. Will go get it out id dryer then bedtime.
