Best/Worse/What I’d I learn Today..Pull Up a Chair,come chat with friends, everyone welcome!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I hope there is something there in Linda's research that will help you.

I did make it to Marie's & we marked the alterations. Marie loaned me a pair of sandals that are black with some silver almost like mirage. . Got most of my projects done yesterday and hope to catch up today.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have a beautiful shade I wish could be repaired. It seemed to be in harms way in TN and was knocked over several times. It didn't break byt a few pieces got cracked and shade itself is now misshapen. We tried to have it repaired once but person had it a long time, charged a bunch and fixed nothing. I didn't mind paying but nothing was done to fix it. If there was a way to get it back in round, I would be happy. Maybe I'll start searching around here, might have better luck. Gee I think of you when auction here will have a box full of glass and other supplies and it goes so cheap. I'm surprised how often it comes up available.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Linda, the first link costs $500, and the 2nd one $40............ lol hmmmmm
I'll check them both out, thank you very much

Victoria Harbour, ON

Certainly isn’t cheap for glass here IF one can find what they want. Most stained glass studios and 8m sure Dianne being a pro will tell you that likely it could be repaired with different glass but the cost would be so much they might make you a new one that looks much like the other..I think Gayle has a nice lamp in her studio for sale and she want $450 for one and $650 for other.

Susan, I’d be leaving th8mgs as is Re divorce..

It so wants to snow, sky is heavy and dark.

Linda did video call, she went to 3 dollar tree’s for the dust shams, found 22 which does 11 hats, I have enough for 14 so still short..still have 2 weeks, if I don’t find anymore I’ll go to Lens mills and get an alternative.

Still not sure we are going to Markham for big craft show Friday ,,if we go i can look at a few other Dollar Tree stores. along the way as I would like about 40 more..

Very quiet here this afternoon, just going to have soup then back to the kayak..I’ve about 5 pieces left the tidy up the solder. Girgi’s mother called awhile ago and said there is Covid in her house so she won’t take a chance of coming here and giving it to me..she will come next week for her Lexington lesson. I am rather glad.

Since the girls left at noon I’ve made the bags of different supply pieces so I know I have everything..just need to buy another bag of painters floor cloth.

I’d best get up because this couch looks to comfy, don’t want to waste the afternoon.

Dianne, is the sandman still at your home..

Morning, it’s a winter wonderland out there!

Have to send a message thanking that young man Joe who is here goodness knows when and did my steps did the back of the house cleaned off my car and all I have left to do is wait for the plough guy to come

Just would not have been able to go out and do it absolutely not, I’ve been snowed in till spring.

How about you guys in the north any of you get snowed in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No snow yet, but 43 this morning.
Glad you have help.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I took shovel and shovelled to back shed, like keeping it clear till after Christmas so I can get totes back there..some snow had blown in through the deck screens so i got all the panels, a stepping stool, really watched it as my left leg was giving up, i know, going to pay for it but I’d rather do it in low 30’s than -30..

Should have waited for my hot bath til after I did the work, fill it with muscle Epson salts but no, now i think of it.

I did message Greg and asked when he and Noah were coming home after work could they do it then I thought they would have a lot of snow blowing and shovelling so I’d do it.. broke my shovel so need to go shopping for another.

Sharon giving me the what for, she said she could have helped, the way her back is, no way. Hate to hear what Greg will say.

Off to get Dr. Ho

Victoria Harbour, ON

The tote I just brought in was filled with goodies..first thing I saw was this beautiful Christmas mouse that Liz send me one Christmas..always love setting her on the living room chair

You are right, Greg is going to skin you alive Betty!!

I got the alterations done but should go and serge everything. That was NOT a pleasant task. All the open lace made it a nightmare to work on. All the pins kept catching on other portions of the dress.

I ordered fabric and was very disappointed that the fabric I bought for a final border & backing is the wrong blue. DRATS, the risk of ordering, rather than IN person purchase. I still have ONE more fabric to arrive. I hope THAT one works for the backing for the quilt that it was bought for!

Did I mention that Kevin's fiancée's car was stolen? Kev just told me the police found it but they don't have any other details, like if it's in one piece & "ok".

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Alterations are always a pain...
Glad the car was found. Praying it's not damaged.
Betty, listen to your own advice, and wait for someone else to get it done.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat, sometimes a car is stolen for joy riding, and sometimes to be a "party car".
Hope it was neither of those things, because there can be hidden damage in that case.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat I sew a lot but I would NOT shorten my clothing to a seamstress it would go, especially a wedding outfit. Let’s hope the car doesn’t have damage and that they needed it to get from point A to B.
Dianne not sure about Susan’s province but ours approved assisted dying to include those with severe mental issues?? Sharon told me about it, will have to go research

Greg and Noah came, had nothing for them to do except have Greg get the piece of drywall over the stained glass and turn it over so I could give the back a touch up solder.

Sharon came and spent a few hours working on a Christmas project for her coffee table, I’ve sparkles all over, then Peighton came for her sewing class, she was so moody, I told her if she didn’t want to sew to tell her mom as there are more children wanting to learn how.. she did finish her Xmas stocking which will be her grandmother’s Christmas gift.

It’s that time of night, bedtime.trying to talk myself into having a hot soak..isn’t it funny getting old, you need to bathe, then you need special salve for feet, another for hip, another for neck, pain meds, get yourself comfy in bed, right position o comfy, heck I forgot bucket for my teeth, do process again Re getting settled in,drats I forgot the charger and see if door are locked etc.. .big sigh

If weather is nice tomorrow i just might if I finish last few wee pieces of kayak done bring it for came at Gayle’s..

Hooe you all enjoyed your day, tomorrow is another God willing..

Beautiful project she made. Praying you get some rest tonight Betty.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I think I would tell Peighton's mother that she doesn't seem to enjoy the classes and maybe she should wait a year or so and try again if interested. Might be it's mama pushing her. My girls weren't at all interested and then later they were. The grands on the other hand were ready and raring to go.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Good point Karen

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, it’s a winter wonderland out there, if the wind picks up like they’ve predicted I’ll be house bound for the winter.

Of course today was going to be our girls trip to Markham craft show, over 200 vendors I think, well didn’t happen big sigh. Saw the add for one on outskirts of Midland at a nursery, 55 vendors..as I look around the house I DONT think there is any Christmas decoration I need or can’t do without.

Sharon picked me up yesterday, brought my stained glass saw in to Gayle’s for servicing and, let the drums roll, that Sg kayak piece..won’t be as nice as I wanted but it will have to do. Got to Gayle’s and it said CLOSED,.. thought maybe Ken got his appointment for his hip or her Aunt that lives with them might be ill, was neither of them, she left a message apologizing that she wasn’t open, had Covid poor thing.

Was the oddest thing, we went to lunch and shopping and I lost feeling in my hands, what’s with that?? Well this morning after I did my jar chores i sat for coffee and hands went numb again.

Am watching hallmark Christmas movies, took grandma’s quilt out, made a matter for a mitt and will make as many as I can and give to family… sooo while I cut them I have memories of when we would sew and quilt together. Probably a sin to cut it up

Victoria Harbour, ON

Marie came and did my steps and came in for a few minutes..I have to make or find something special for her this Christmas

Betty, it sounds like you have pinched nerves. Please get a 2nd opinion. Lots of people have very successful surgery for it.
I think those mitts wil be awesome memory pieces for the family.
Watching the weather Chanel, northeast states have up to 4 feet of snow on the ground, more expected.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hasn’t stopped snowing since yesterday..laying here watching the wind grab a tad of puff of white, so pretty.. i said likely will go to a midland craft sale Sunday but I’m thinking this is where i will be all weekend. Think they are predicting snow every day for next 2 weeks. Big sigh. The 2 artificial trees, 7 and 6 feet trees look so pretty outside, 3 smaller ones and the 4’santa can barely be seen.

Lindakay, I’ve been telling doctor I’m sure it’s a pinched nerve but he says not. They are closed Friday so Monday first thing I’ll call for appt which will take a month to get appt and it will be a phone assessment.

Made a lively supper, ate at 2, if i can keep awake just maybe i will have another feast of it.

If nothing else the snow is beautiful!

We dropped off Marie car for repairs late Wednesday and no word on it yet. I should go out to her house now, so I have the eggs boiled and ready to make deviled eggs for my nephew's Celebration of Life tomorrow. They are having more like an open house with sandwiches etc & I thought I'd bring the eggs to contribute. David was an EMT and the sweetest man, he died of cancer a couple of months ago.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cancer, you would think by now they would have found a cure..so many losing loved ones. So is Marie without wheels then? Was it a major repair?

i See the neighbour has Christmas lights on, looks so pretty..will have to get Greg or Kyle to drop 8n over the weekend to put a timer for mine.

Might go shovel my steps as Joe won’t be here until morning.

Wasn’t hungry til I took the rolls out of the oven, best I get the butter out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nothing like a hot rolls on a blustery day

Betty, Mittens made from grandma's quilt will be an awesome keepsake and a practical one too. My grandmother made the most awesome mitts for us. we all had many pair and new every year. She always used two strands of yarn so your hands never got cold or wet.. My youngest daughter lords it over everyone every year as she still has a pair left. I'd so love to still have a pair. They were always a hodge-podge of colors as she used up her odd and ends of leftovers from making afghans. I have several of those too.

I go next monday for blood typing and then Tues to have an infusion. I figured I was low but was surprised at just how low it is. I should have known the way I'm so unbalanced.
Will feel good to feel good again. Lots to do to get ready for two Thanksgiving feasts.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sorry hit send twice....stuttering.

Betty, can you go to the emergency room, tell them your hands are going numb?
Those rolls look good.
Pat, praying she gets her car back soon.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I agree with Linda. Numbness could be a serious circulation problem and should be seen right away.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

OHhhhhh ... fresh warm dinner rolls, slathered with real butter. I think I gained 5# just thinking about it!
Marie won't get her car back until Tuesday. She can borrow a car from her son. I offered mine, said I'd drive my truck, but she said no, Her repairs are NOT going to be cheap.
We sorted thru some of the toys & bagged up what her grandkids were now too old for. I have them in my car to donate tomorrow. We were trying to free up room & bins to work on dolls. Between Tuesday and Saturday, we will focus on getting the dolls ready to donate, we are late this year. Our family always gathers on Saturday for dinner, not Thursday.

Verona, ON

It snowed overnight. Just a dusting really but everyone has lost their minds. I had to go out the lane to the village. The lane was the safest route I took...lol

Betty I understand why everyone is encouraging you to go to the ER but I also know you will be there for hours and hours. I understand you staying home where you are warm and comfy. My sweet dad always used to say "this getting old is for the birds". When I was much younger I used to shake my head now I totally agree.

So what is everybody up to this weekend - getting ready for Thanksgiving ?

Need to liberate 1 of my slippers from Zeke.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, wind is up, weather warning still on..feels cold so time for fireplace to be turned on, thinking of a hot bath, turn fireplace on, get a piece of pie for beside my bedside.

Glad you are getting your infusion Karen, always makes such a difference. Will it get you through to the New Year? Nothing like thick mitts, especially if grandma made them. I remember coming home from school, mitts were wet, they would go near the wood stove, another pair for outside after supper…grandpa made a stand that would hold a half dozen of them so always felt so nice to put them on when hands were cold. Maybe your daughter would share 🫢

Lindakay, our hospitals are so understaffed right now that many are closing floors so it would be a waste of my time regardless how sick i was. How did the quilt show go?a

Dianne and Deb are you getting this storm..think Buffalo getting the worse.

Pat is Marie’s vehicle fairly new? You will be relieved to have those dolls and outfits delivered so you can move on to your other projects.

Had Mason and Evan this morning, before they left i asked them if they would bring in the 3. Tree parts as well as to rotating base for it. Not up to trying to put it together.
Sharon was going shopping around 1, michaels was one stop but no could do.i am rather discouraged, cut the pieces for the mitts yesterday, this afternoon i sewed 6 together and after turning thumbs out well mega pain, just that aggravated the heck out of everywhere grrr

those 36 kids on Dec 4th ought to do me in.p, will have to find someone to come and help and I’m getting too many projects ahead of myself.. but then aren’t we all the same.

Laying on the couch I’m watching stained glass moving in the wind, they sooo need to come down.y

Verona, ON

Weather warning here too. Don't you go out there and shovel Betty !!!

With that number of kids Betty you definitely need at least 1 helper preferably 2 or 3. You are going to be exhausted afterwards.

Karen what a lovely gift you are making for your loved ones.

Time to stoke the fire, read for a bit and hope the sandman finds me.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes her Pacifica is just a few years old and bought brand new. That' a LOT of kids for a craft class!

I finished modifying 2 dollar store dolls and made some quick & dirty (unfinished hems etc) for the dolls as part of the package I am putting together for Kevin's soon to be daughter. She is 6 and this will help her occupy herself while traveling. Gloria is Hispanic and my son Caucasian. The only way to get 2 different dolls was to get1 1 brown & 1 white so I changed up the hair & made the white one a boy. Added a loop to attach barrettes. I

Morning, clear one minute and can’t see the next, keeps this up our plow guys won’t be able to keep up with the snow..can get anywhere between 30-60cm of snow…guess it will be a white Christmas..

How thoughtful you are Pat, your family is lucky to have you caring for them.
Those outfits are so adorable..sooo much work!

Big sigh, so wanted to go find me a Christmas piece at the craft show and no go..
I’ll get Sharon to come with me to Angus garden center, the always have such beautiful things..what I don’t need is more Christmas things but I think I am yearning for what was before Covid, all the outings, looking at everyone’s handmade goodies..

All this siting has brought memories of christmases past at home so I best go back into Santa’s workshop and get some of his projects done. Asked Greg to come over today and setup the tree so i can decorate it but doubtful with this weather.

Hooe you are all enjoying your Sunday

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Betty, I wish I could have taken the time to make them more finished but truly thought quantity over quality on this one! So many raw edges etc but Karina will not care.

David Celebration of life was truly beautiful. So many sweet stories shared and good music. I got to visit with lots of members of my Ex's family that I love and miss. I was able to stay and help clean up so they got OUT of the building in time.

Verona, ON

Waiting for Betty's storm to hit me. It's coming - the winds are screaming around the house.

I'm getting warmed up by the fire. I spent a couple of hours outside and managed to get the wood pile conquered. It is not stacked and unless I get bored it won't be. It is inside the carport and the TH have lots of room to play around it. I started off wheelbarrowing the blocks into the carport and stacking it. After a couple of hours I just thought to heck with this I'll still be doing this in March. Stacking wood is highly over rated. lol

It's been years since I did Markham Betty. It used to be a great show then there were marital problems between the promoters. Things sort of went down for a couple of years and manufactured goods were being allowed. Finally a BIL stepped in and took over. Back to a highly juried show.

Deb are you getting blasted with show ? Geography was never my best suit.

LK how is Todd doing ?

Stay safe and well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying you don't get the 6 feet of snow that new york got, they are still shoveling snow.
Todd is about the same. Still not gaining weight. Supposed to see the surgmidfle of Dec. Hopefully he can get his surgery reversed and get rid of this colostomy bag.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Warning still on Dianne and calling for a lot more snow, that being said I checked radar and it looks like by nightfall you will have the snow. Dianne, next year you will have to look for someone out of work that needs $$ who will be willing to pile it.we are on same latitude(?) as Deb. Can picture you enjoyed the heat of wood stone and TH laying on the floor next to you, content as can be.

I was so looking forward to the Markham show Dianne..you sure were in a lot of shows, don’t you miss doing stained glass at all? Would be a good winter project.

Hidden deep under the basement staircase was a pizza box with SG stars, don’t think I had them displayed in years. Seeing as Greg is coming over later I will have him put hook in dining room window, i have a list for him and seeing as i just made him a chocolate pie how can he refuse to do so.

Goodness Pat, Karina will be on top of the moon when she sees her presents..glad you got to spend time with your es’s family. I’ve stayed close to 1/2 of them, the other 1/2 were young and we didn’t see them much except for Christmas and special events..the week before Christmas Roger and I would visit each family and drop off gifts, I cherished that..one brother we never went to again, he we were in the entrance of an apartment building, hands full of gifts, called on the,p.a. And we’re told we didn’t make arrangement for a visit so come back not her day when we did..never happened.

I’m a “if you are in the neighbourhood pop on in” kind of person and likely would be upset if you didn’t and I heard you were nearby.

Lindakay, how are you guys, you are awfully quiet, sure hope you are ok..
Susan, are you snowed in

I have 13 of 20 mitts ready to decorate, I’ll finish them tomorrow if not tonight then pick another snowy day to decorate them

Just put a roll in micro, covered it with butter, yummy
Don’t want to eat a lot as Greg is bringing me lasagna

sure hope that Buffalo gets a lull in the storm so they can get street cleaned out..am sure there will be people having heartaches from shovelling and no way to get to the hospital. The were showing a hotel where those who booked rooms wanting to get home were out shovelling, imagine.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

"shoveling" at the motel, guess they were motivated!! LOL

I hope Karina enjoys the activities, hard to know for sure when I don't get to see her very frequently due to distance, Covid and no guest room at my house or their apartment. My last visit, between motel and gas cost me about $350 for 2 nights, not counting any meals.

I hope Todd's appointment goes well and the reversal is possible.

Dianne, a fire sounds delightful.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am very worried about Todd. He still hasn't gained any weight, doesn't want to leave the house for anything. He sleeps a lot. Praying he will start feeling better, once he gets his surgery done.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

You have good reason to be concerned Linda. I hope that he is able to get the surgery and it is the ticket to improved mental and physical health.
