Thanks for the new room Betty.
Praying you are feeling better soon.
Pat, I hope you get your room organized soon.
About every 6 months, I organize my room. Anything less than a yard of fabric I donate to other quilters that love scraps.
The local quilt show starts Monday. I need to get my quilts dropped off tomorrow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sharon, I did hear back. Was told I have to go by what the insurance rules are. Was told there are other places to look at, but they have told us, because we have insurance, we don't qualify for any assistance.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

In counselling I did some deep breathing relaxing, and fell asleep for a few moments lol The counsellor said that it's common when you "crash" after being busy & stressed. I didn't list all I did this week, but you got a "taste" of what I did. Got up 2 hours ago, and could go back to sleep. I have to get everything ready for the Silent Auction, and set it up.
The pharmacist that did the Flu Clinic said he'd like to come back & do a BBQ for us - just the seniors. We normally have one in July. He'll bring a crew to do it for us. That's wonderful thing for him to do for us!

Verona, ON

Sunny but cold out there today. I still haven't started up the wood stove - I'm thinking if it keeps like this Nov 1 will be the start up date.

Leaf blower and I tangoed again today but I still have many more hours to do.

Sharon I am having liver and onions tonight. My mom used to put peas in the gravy when we had liver.

Deb thanks for jogging my memory about the child proof locks. Zeke loves the drawer that the toilet paper is stored in.

Betty how is Sharon feeling after her fall ?

Just received news that a friend of ours a retired RCMP has passed. I'll offer to polish their shoes. He too was a heavy smoker. Cancer grabbed him too.

I have a bite that looks like a tick bite. I do remember scratching myself in the night. Actually there are 2 bites that I don't like the look of ...... I'll watch them over the weekend and see if I can get into the Doc if need be.

Betty I hope you feel better as the day progresses.

Pat glad you got some help. Oh to be young and strong again when we could do it all. To quote my sweet dad 'this getting old is for the birds.'

Has anyone heard from Judy or Liz ?

Stay safe and well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I talked to Judy a few days ago. She is slowly improving. Still hard to walk after getting surgery on her veins, but slowly improving.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving,

Karen so glad to hear you are settling in..how far from where you once lived? Is it a two bedroom condo? Yard? Place for you to sew? How wonderful and what a surprise for youbothhavinggrandson and his wife not only visit but help with technology, i am useless with technology.
Am sure same here, neighbours wonder why no lights after 6 lol

Wow, Dianne, no fire yet? We have had some cold weather to not have heat on. You must be able to endure cold weather..my bones would get to me.think the baby closures area good idea. This morning they said rain for Halloween, 40 percent, let’s hope if it does rain in the evening.

Judy sure has had a time of it..trying to remember, is her MIL still living with her and Steve?

Sharon, sure wish I could have taken some of your pretties home when I visited but flight attendant and border patrol would have been upset. We can wait patiently for photo’s of the wedding. Is your gardens all back in order since the storm?

Susan, that is so nice being offered a bbq day..seniors will like that. Meant to tell you when I was in town for my flu shot i stopped into $$ store for tape and tarps, there on the shelf were boxes of roach killer, smiled and thought of you.

Deb, Chicago would be a lovely place for a dog show and not far from you, Chicago can have some pretty bad storms though at that time of year.Sharon asked if I’d be interested in going to Darien Lake ( only miles from Debbie) 1st week of November, says I can use car while she is at dog show but I don’t think I am up to it.

Lucky Sharon didn’t break anything, bruised and back is sore.

Should get up and make a hot chocolate

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, yes. Mother in law is still with Judy.
Chicago is not a safe place to be. Tell Sharon to be careful.
Got my rye exam today. Cataracts are growing, but not bad enough for surgery yet. Need another new pair of glasses. That makes my 3rd pair this year.
Getting old sucks, is my motto.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

3rd pair THIS YEAR Linda??? WOW.... has your MD said there is anything else going on that could be causing these rapid changes? New meds? I know when my niece had a change of diabetic medication, she was told to NOT change her glasses for a few months as the new meds could affect her RX.

Dianne, our pets can be worse than 2 year olds! I know my Stanley is! If I am on the phone, he sits next to me and taps me on the shoulder until I pick him up.

Karen, so glad you checked in. Yep, it will be a while before everything finds it's new home & a few things will get eliminated,

Susan, that would be so nice to have BBQ and not have all the work involved! What a lovely offer!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No new meds. Just getting older. Cataracts have just decided to get worse.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am just stunned at 3x in one year and yet the MD said not bad enough to operate. Oh my.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, frost is on the pumpkin this morning, am sure that Dianne will start her fire this morning even for an hour or so to get the dampness out of the house.

Holy wah Lindakay, can’t believe after changing glasses 3 times they wouldn’t book you in for cataract surgery….glasses are cheap! Do you find sewing for a few hours difficult?

Dianne, there was a little sale last Friday at the seniors complex, Gayle’s daughter went with pieces no more than $40..sold only $200 worth..lots looking, few buying from vendors.

Just made coffee, time to clean craft room as the boys will be here for 9 then I am hoping out to cut down in gardens couple hours this afternoon and in between keep working on that kayak.

Karen, doesn’t all have to be unpacked in one day, rest, will all come together.

Enjoy your day..

Insurance won't pay for surgery, until the cataracts to a certain point. As long as new glasses help, they won't pay. When it gets to the point where I am almost blind, then they will cover it.
Yes, sewing bothers my eyes. Threading the needle is hard sometimes. I can't drive at night because of the strong glare from the lights. Even daytime driving is hard sometimes.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LindaKay - that sounds like my friend here, Dianne. She can't handle the glare of night driving, and won't be getting her cataract surgery yet. She doesn't wear glasses.
Have you tried the self-threading needles? Just draw the thread across the top of the needle & hey-presto, threaded.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh my.... my glasses are at least $450 each time and this is with frames that are well under $100. guess I can look forward to those same problems and restrictions from my insurance. YUK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Darlene and quite a few others have their eyes checked then glasses ordered online by using your face features, says less than 1/4 of the cost and great choice of frames.

Think batteries on my chairlift aren’t need replacing. Greg came over and did a few things, will charge overnight a and if not fully charged guess he and the help of video maintenance will replace them

Unless it would be an emergency i don’t drive at night either..enough idiots night driving at night without my being one..also, so many have hit deer and other.

Joys of getting older..Greg couldn’t believe I was in bed, kept knocking til i got up..every lousy bone is aching.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I do very little hand sewing. It's the sewing machine needle that's hard to thread.
Betty, hope he can get your batteries working again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sunshine morning but it’s cold out there..have a few more things to winterized, might try and get one or two done and other that’s that it’s upstairs to work on that kayak piece..if the chair isn’t charged enough to use I’ll bring the grinder upstairs, save the steps.

Maybe Lindakay you might have to upgrade to another machine that self threads..or very least the one with pull down arms that threads the needle.i know you likely know about putting a white piece of paper behind the needle, so much easier to see.

Hoping this being Sunday everyone will be enjoying their day and Karen, today is your day to sit and enjoy your new home.

Kyle came this morning and gab he can lol..helped me do a few things..
Cleaned refrigerator and the freezer part of it was so full so decided to take the pre stuffed turkey roll out that way I’ll have leftover for a few days..

Sharon will come over and have supper and bring Nikki a plate..

Arms are difficult to mash, pushed so hard look what happened..

Sharon is here, be back

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear Kyle helped out.
Betty. You don't know your own strength.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Couldn’t hold the bowl so anchored it on my hip and secured it a tad with arm close to hip..couldn’t feel what strength i was using to mash..

Sharon came as she wanted to drop of red fabric, said she would do potatoes and veggies once the were cooked so i didn’t burn myself, HELLO, i should have spoon fed her, she was shaking worse i saw her..getting worse.

Off to bed I go

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LindaKay - isn't there a needle threader on your sewing machine?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We had beautiful weather today. No wind, high of 76 and low of 52. Cold front moving in Wednesday so I will try to get my plumerias into the garage Tuesday and Wednesday.

Betty, garden is back in shape but another wind storm coming this way and colder temps which will hit some of the plants. They will be cut back and appear again next year.

I bought candy for Halloween and th price was shocking. Always do full size candy bars but this may be the last time. I picked my hot peppers today and have them bagged up for neighbors. I grow them but do not eat them. Peppers also fail in colder temps. My green beans are blooming but snap peas are growing but no blooms. I need to make some kind of protection tomorrow for the green beans or they will also wilt.

Linda, that does not sound right that your glasses need to e changed 3 x a year. Hopefully you have insurance and do not need to pay for them.

Pat, my cat and my dog both pat me on the shoulder when they want something. Emma usually wants ice and Peanut, the cat, just wants me to move out of her way.

My power usage went down and my power bill went up. I am not going to my daughter's home for dinner because two individuals have colds. No sense exposing myself to that.

Need to get Emma walked before it gets dark. Hugs to all of you.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

When I was a teen, my neighbor had emphysema and was on oxygen 24 x 7. She was pretty much confined to her home. Her whole life was what she could see out her window. She would ask me "who is the man driving the white pickup?" I would tell her that it was my friend Ken, and I would introduce her the next time EVERYBODY was well to avoid any exposure. I got married on my parents back deck, she phoned over "Move the pickup, I can't see!" LOL She was a lovely English woman and I loved her dearly. It's coming full circle, isn't it? NOW we are ones having to be careful of exposure.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda new glasses three times a year is twice too many. Maybe time for a new eye doctor.

I had three days of sleeping and out of it. Woke up this morning nearly back to what for me is normal. Even was hungry. Only thing I ate those days was one banana.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Halloween…

Morning, light rain, hope it stops so the children have fun.p tonight.

So glad to hear you are feeling yourself, now let’s hope you rest today, take it easy and enjoy the day..maybe even think about a piece to sew, even if it’s hand sewing. When you are rested please tell us more about your new home, what town it’s in, close to kids and grandkids and fabric stores lol

Sharon, know how you enjoy those Sunday dinners but not worth catching something going around. Re power bill, I’ve come to conclusion to do my to do’s any time of day, washing and dishwasher etc and bill not higher than when I go with usage times.

Guess Pat nobody got away with anything on the street “community watch dog” 🥹
When mom visits she can tell me who goes for walks, what dogs the have etc..she just loves my windows.

Bear in my yard this morning..crossed the road into my drive walk, walked down to the wooded area in back.. glad Ziggy wasn’t out.

Went and got my 5th shot this morning then bought 6 dust mops from $$ store, quite fluffy, 60 bells tat I am rusting in the zinc, making a batch of coffee stain solution, going to put it in large jar so I can keep it in refrigerator, going to see how energetic I am and might make the stocking and mitts to see how the kids would make out doing it in a Santa workshop and still work on kayak piece..always something to do.

Called Acorn chairlift and talked about my chairlift, he believes it’s the 2 batteries needing to be replaced..$400 standard call and parts additional. We spoke for some time and end result, will take the metal top body off the lift and should be able to replace the 2-12volt batteries himself..if it still doesn’t work properly then I will call them in.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, I have a lever to push to supposedly thread my machine, but doesn't work very well.
With anyone that has cataracts, all they will do is change your glasses as needed. Once your eyes get really cloudy, then insurance will pay for cataract surgery. I have had cataracts for several years, it's just this year they have decided to grow. As they grow, my visits worse.
No, I don't have insurance for glasses. Money comes out of my pocket.

Having a bear in your yard is scary. Please be careful as you open your door.
Is Sharon seeing a doctor for her hands shaking?
Batteries are going up in price, like everything else.

Victoria Harbour, ON

So sad about health care system, ours is better than yours but going down hill

Sometimes Lindakay you can get magnifying glass, put needle into highest position then look a the little little threader that goes into the hole then try the needle.

They so easily get off to the side.

There are bears apparently all over this area
Think the 2 batteries for chairlift will be about $100 for both..Greg will check.

Rain is almost stopped, couple next door put one of those overhead tent where their door is so kids don’t have to stand in rain.

Just had turkey dinner and spaghetti sauce is simmering, thought I would cook it for the next few days eats.

I’m glad I had about 8 cute teddies, forgot Grayson will likely come trick or treating, pop won’t anything he wants so a teddy he gets

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We are having beautiful weather today. Wednesday cold front is blowing in and temps will drop big time. Going to move frost sensitive plants under the patio cover, nearer to the house. Plumerias will be moved into the garage.

I am starting my embroidery project today. First I need to find a container to put everything in and organize.

Oldest great granddaughter nw has a cold so they are coming for trick or treating tonight.

Vern's son is still here and will probably be here for another year. They have not started rebuilding yet but they did put up a plywood wall around the burnt area so the homeless could not get back in to his condo. The homeless destroyed his and the other two condos that were only effected by the smoke and water. Still waiting for the State Real Estate division to make an appointment for arbitration. Have to do that before you can sue. Been over two months since we filed.

I still have three hummers trying t chase each other off the back landscape feeder. There are two more in the front. Have no idea why they fight over this one.

Cannot believe the US is going to run out of diesel fuel. This would be a lousy movie if it wasn't true.

Betty, you have not had that chair that long for the batteries to be worn out. I bet if your son goes on line, they will show exactly how to change out the batteries. A bear on your property would get my attention. There are bears up North in Nevada but I do not think we have any down here.

So sorry to hear Sharon's shaking is getting worse. I saw a recipe on instagram where they baked the potatoes, scooped out the cooked potatoes and mixed them with butter, heavy cream and made them like mashed potatoes. Then baked the empty potato skins to make them crispy. took them out of the over, put mashed potatoes in the a pastry bag and filled the potatoes, topped that mixture with grated cheddar cheese, place back into the oven to heat potatoes and melt cheese. Brought them out, added a blob of sour cream, salt and pepper and dive in and they looked so good.

My battery is telling me it is low, so I will sign off.

Betty, get well and have fun with the kids tonight. Hugs to everyone.

Karen, sleeping for 3 days in part being tired, part stressed and part relief. You body and brain needed it so your brain just shut you down. Brain is very smart.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope the storm and cold weather doesn’t get more of your pretties Sharon..as when kids aren’t well and can’t trick or treat, such a fun time for them. I’ve has about 12 kids so far. I put light on dim and all the lights for Halloween are on and watching Christmas hallmark movies.

Dark so had to quit the stained glass piece.. worse than a puzzle

Linda has been messaging me, David is doing poorly and is in emerge being seen..problems with heart
Prayers please

Sending prayers for David.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Your kayak piece is so cool!!

Limited computer for a while, going in for repair.

Victoria Harbour, ON

‘‘Twas a long day, just came to bed, had 92 kids
So many from my sewing and craft workshops, Greg and Mel came and couldn’t believe most knew me and I them, others kept s@y8ng “i know we get pop here”

Told Greg not to come tonight because it was Halloween but the did, knew Grayson was coming… while he waited he took main cover off chairlift and took the 2 batteries out of chairlift and Mel ordered them on Amazon and they likely will be here Wednesday. ..i wanted to pay the $94 but they said their treat.

They are keeping a watchful eye on David, he keeps blacking out..they will monitor him for a few days.. hope Linda gets some rest.

Sorry to hear your computer is down Pat..hope it’s an easy fix

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well Phooey...I had hoped to get some kids here but I guess the neighbors are all old fuddy duddies. I did buy a bag of candy. Some of the great grands came so I gave them nearly all. That made my night.I told them to go to the next sub over as it was really hopping, lots of houses close together.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Had over 100 children but that included parents. Mostly neighbors and most of the little ones know Peanut, my cat, and Emma, my schnauzer. And I am the flower lady.
I did get a cranium plant cut back and a few castor beans. Trimmed some ivy and did all of that in 2 hours. Tomorrow is garbage day so I have all of the two large container full. The leaves are starting to turn yellow so I need to get my compost area ready because the gardeners around here bring me many bags of leaves that they have mowed through to shred. My worms take a pile of leaves about 8' wide and 5' tall and reduce it, by the end of winter, to a level bed of beautiful worm castings.

I will start moving the smaller plumerias into the garage tomorrow. I need to vote and water softener people coming from noon to 2.

Good morning Betty and please have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Karen. Maybe you can change the old fuddy duddies into a happier group for next year.

Good Morning Pat. Have a great Day.

Good Morning Linda, Have a wonderful day in Texas. .

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
We live about 5 miles out from town. All the kids go by truck loads into town, to get more candy. I have been here for 24 years, and have had 6 kids in costume.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sun is shining, perfect fall day.

Always nice to see little ones, maybe next year..Lindakay, you will have to stay at roadside and as the vehicles pass by throw some candies.

You’ve got quite a day planned Sharon, best of luck .. you will be tired when your head hi ts the pillow.. is it not already a year that Vern’s son has been staying with you?can’t believe such things happen.

Pat, computer fixed?

I’ve been working on getting halloween into back shed, have 3 totes more i guess and that is it.. was asked how many Christmas came in, none

June and Pat just left, drats we showed pictures of grandchildren in their costumes, i did a bit of work on a workshop project..trimming each step, changed few things..e will see how they turn out..house smells like cinnamon, likely not finished today..have a young one coming to sew at 4 and want to have a little nap in between.

Make a large pot of spaghetti sauce yesterday, Greg took some home, i dishes out a lot, to me enough for all of them and some, he told me not to be stingy so I kept enough for few meals and gave him the pot lol

Waiting for update on David..chatted with Linda during the night and this morning..she is frightened.

Best I not stop, need to put all of halloween to bed.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

"Not to be stingy", I love it!

I take computer into today. Hopefully will need just a good cleaning. I hear the fan running on it today. I only use it for a couple of minutes and shut it down.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think he likes your spaghetti sauce.
Can't wait to see this afternoon's craft projects.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Where did the day go
After the girls left i went to put bins out and Marie saw me so being good neighbour she is took them to back shed..she noticed a bag and a large box filled with outdoor lights so decided to go through them to see which worked, 1/2 went into recycle, then we went through 3 totes of misc Xmas craft supplies, burn lots and ended up with 1 tote.

We hung the lights on front deck, no worrying about frozen finger next month when i would have put them up.

We sat on front deck listening to Xmas music while the Lights flickered to the tune of the Christmas carols.

Darlene called, they had to euthanize John’s dog, was still gabbing with her when Giorgia came for her sewing class. Didn’t even eat till few minutes ago. Wanted to take a bath but don’t think i could safely lift my leg to get into the tub.
