Best/worse and what did I learn today…a place for all, come join in
Finally..Lordy internet is slow moving, perhaps the weather?
Have someone here so will come back to chat but when I saw we were in 300’s decided the move us over..thus the error
Debbie, I understand about taking in the rescue dog. Also understand sometimes you just have to go with the dealer, like it or lump it. Sounds like you did due diligence on your choice.
Dianne, have you seen the meme about cats & dogs after being caught being naughty? It shows a dog with shame & remorse all over its face. The cat's look is pride and achievement! Stanley's look is more like "I warned you I needed attention!"
The silk flowers have started to arrive, some are winners, others not so much & will be returned. My case of vases arrived in a partially crushed box. Only 1 of the vases is broken due to superb packing & I will contact the company. Fortunately it was set of 12 & I only needed 10.
My nephew's Celebration of Life is scheduled on the Saturday before Kevin's Monday wedding. I volunteered to help with the prep & I am making hearts on a twine out of David's flannel shirts. Another family member is making fabric pumpkins for centerpieces out of parts of his shirts, they are so cute.
I have a lead on a different contractor for the door. My first choice apologized, he has just been too busy, and it doesn't look like it will slow down. I bought a bigger microwave to replace my smaller under-powered one. I probably will just donate my old one.
I leave for Sumner to see oldest son Dana & wife Carrie this Friday morning. I am REALLY looking forward to giving her the turquoise & red quilt I made for their guest room. Carrie has a list of "projects" she wants help with. I should start MY list of help I need with technology. Like learning how to put photos into "albums" so I can find them faster on my phone. Same with the computer photos.
Thanks for the new room Betty.
Pat, sounds like you will be busy.
Hi Everyone :)
11 more sleeps :))
Busy week ahead of me - today, Crib, tomorrow a Celebration of Life for my good friend Dianne's son, Brian, Monday of course it's Coffeetime, then Tues decorating for a friend's birthday - she's 93 - in the Wellness Centre, Wed crib, then bowling starts on the 6th, and a colonoscopy in the city on the 7th, On the 8th take my budgie Pixie to Dianne's for her to look after it, then leave for GA on the 9th :)
I'm buying a water cooler from a friend today. They're really strapped for cash, having just moved to Torrington & bought a house that was in severe need of renovations. In Alberta they have a Seniors Home Adaptation & Repair Program (SHARP) that I hope they can get. Have to make less than $75,000/year. Not repayable, unless you sell your home. 2.7% interest. They will send you $$ retroactively for 12 months. For a mobile home (like mine, where I don't own the property) you get a grant. For a home like theirs where they own the property they get a none-repayable loan. Gosh I hope they can get some of their $$ back. She says it's iffy for her to come for coffee on Mondays cuz it costs $2, and same for Crib - $4. When it comes down to that, it's terrible for elderly seniors.
Lordy Susan, when do you have time to sleep? Don’t overdo..yes it’s sad when one doesn’t even $2 for a coffee and outing but am sure there are many.
Going to go back later and read the last post..sorry I made a mess of it.
Mel came with Grayson for a few hours, Marie next door, then Bethany this morning and Peighton just left and messaging a lot
Darlene’s park in Fort Myers
We have been watching the storm on tv. Everything is flooded. Praying for all in Florida.
Sleep, Betty? Surely you jest LOL Well, I sleep well most nights, but every once in awhile I wake up & can't get back to sleep after 3 or 4 hours. Usually it's 7, 8 or 9 hours.
Oh, almost forgot - I have to make up a contract for someone to clean the library twice a month. Yes, this is what a secretary does lol I've been making all kinds of documents lately. Made one for the "expectations of a consultant" who used to be the Chairperson, and she's the soon-to-be-93 yo, and is trying to step back and take it easy.
Checking in on everybody sure hope all are fine and your family members are safe.
It’s just so mind-boggling you can’t even wrap your head around what’s happening. I am sure that the good Lord is giving us a warning, we haven’t been good looking after each other and living the good life so best we make sure we start following his rules
Went and got After working on the costume almost finished my injections now I’m supposed to rest for a few days and let them do their job so already I’m in bed watching TV and playing games on the iPad.
Tomorrow I will work on finishing the costume which there isn’t much to do and not do what I shouldn’t be doing.
I have been a good Girl today, went and picked up bevels in beautiful Platt’s for the next piece I’m doing, Diane you’d be shocked of what you’re paying per square foot but the sky and water I couldn’t resist paying more to get it. Don’t know when I’ll start it but it won’t be soon
I am going to go to the last thread and read up so I can comment on your posts
This old mine isn’t retaining anything.
Glad you finally got your injection Betty. Praying they work for you.
Todd has finished his 2nd round of chemo. He now weighs 140 pounds. Still losing weight. Side effect of the pills.
Goodness Linda, I hope they get the weight loss under control soon.
I spent the late afternoon until 10.30 at Marie's. I thought she was to want to get her quilt on the longarm before I left tomorrow. didn't work out that way. She got a killer deal on 108 inch backing. Hobby Lobby had it on sale & 40% off. We got several colors at $7.77 per yard. I HATE to piece backs so this will be especially nice.
I hope you get lot of relief with your injections Betty.
We watched the movie Seabiscuit. I saw it almost 20 years ago and enjoyed it every bit as much today. The movie stayed pretty close to the truth according to what I saw on the documentary and the book I had read. Amazing story.
I leave tomorrow morning & will return Monday.
Safe travels Pat.
Afternoon, sun is shining, real fall day..went outside a few times and it’s cool. Best i not complain after what is going on stateside with weather. Told Linda Ian must have gotten one of my trip logs as he is following all cities we visited.
Pat, don’t like putting batting piecing together either, that is a good deal.
Was going
Betty, how is Linda's place in Florida. Hope damage was minimum.
Safe travels, Pat :)
9 more sleeps for me to go to the US & see Susan :))
Got company so decided to press “send”
Lindakay, it was Darlene’s place..structurally from photo’s she has seen she thinks ok just all water damage, from pictures she can see couches thrown against lanai window so who knows what is inside..Ed who looks after the place and lives 4 doors down left when they had to evacuate so when he gets back and takes photo’s she will know better. Her neighbours home is down and Darlene said she had given neighbours their old bbq and it sits right in bbq pad ..hard to figure it out.
Lindakay, what weight was Todd before his illness? Is there no other med he can get that would help put on weight? Know meds I take sure puts on weight.
Pat in my previous post I was saying that I also do not like piecing batting. Yesterday when I was at Marilyn’s to pick up some fabric she had for me and she gave me enough warm and natural batting for 2 quilts..i will be sure to hide it so we don’t cut into it. There was a beautiful bouquet of flowers on her table, i said I was admiring the bouquet, she said it was for her birthday yesterday and went on to say she turned 72…know she is very handicapped but I thought she was way older than I
As for the injections I’m resting today, shoulder not bad but Fanny is paining big time, guess no complaining. as he said it had severe arthritis
Pat, safe travel.
Steve, Darlene’s BIL dropped in with an older machine, basically never used, thought it would help me with the kids sewing class.
Then Ray came and did the ditches out front and around trees, said it wont belong before he comes back and start leaves.
Trying to figure out how to put the wings on the penguin costume then it’s done..sat here this morning and did the feet and hat, as much as I’d like to sit best i try and figure it out as Mel will pick it up in the morning.
Susan just dropped in, we had a nice visit.
Busy day tomorrow and then Sharon and I leave to meet Linda at Mandarin in Barrie for all you can eat Chinese and seafood, will be nice.
If I finish the costume by 4 I will have Melanie meet me at their park entrance and go into town, after injections came home and didn’t get 1/2 done so would be nice to go
Forgot to press send. Just finished costume..hurrah
Another glorious Autumn day here. In the 60'sF.
Betty is Meaford this weekend ? When I was at Foodland earlier this week I bought 2 Honey Crisp apples - yum. I first tasted one in Meaford at Grandma Lambe's. Made me think about how much we enjoyed doing that show. On Sunday morning Warren and I used to wander around looking at all the displays in people's yards. Oh and the parade on Friday night. Loved it !! It was mainly children groups with a couple of bands and oh yes a bagpiper. All of the workers flown in for the harvest used to swarm the grocery stores plus the local pizza place. A lot of them bought dozens of eggs - I should have asked them why.
Deb this is the week you were going to a dog show, right ?
Sharon how are things in your gardens ? I still have begonias and sedum blooming but everything else is toast.
LK how are you and Todd doing ? When does he see the doctor again?
I've pulled out my pink ball cap to wear. A friend who had been in remission from breast cancer did not do well at her checkup. A group of friends I was part of in Toronto all have the pink ball cap. She lives in Toronto so is close for treatment.
Stay safe everyone.
Dianne, same kind of day here as well…Medford is weekend before thanksgiving ..omg this is the weekend before thanksgiving..should have known that because I bought all I needed for Thanksgiving pies.
Don’t know if you would enjoy it anymore as so much of its attraction to tourist is no longer..the candle factory that was so much more than just candles is no longer, the big factory that sold absolutely everything you could think of is no longer and someone told me the fabric shop closed as did a few more..really sad but still would be fun to go just for grandma lambs..drats could have gone and picked up all my pies (frozen) and saved myself mega work. You have great memories of the area..do you miss stained glass at all? Yikes bought 5” x22 for both sky and water for Georgian bay piece and around $40.00 ..imagine , but they sure will make breathtaking blues with movement in the glass.. can’t wait to use it, here is hoping I don’t break it when cutting it, as you know 1 wrong break and I’ll be back buying more.
Stopped at the park to deliver the costume and who was there?? Melanie walking the dog so saved me going into the park..couple with her tried to talk me into going in and visit with a lot of the kids I taught crafts to and teen dances etc but I was too sore..they said they remember me going to it dancing with Roger and maybe I could dance with them, Friday night you know..Lordy that would kil me
I’ve been hungry for a nice stew and didn’t have it last week I will make it Sunday as tomorrow is Mandarin supper at 5pm..nice ride to Barrie in the fall.
Just took a small break after carrying in all the groceries now it’s time to find a place for them, goodness I don’t have a lot of cupboard place for one person but have no idea where I will put it all.
Forgot to say, picked up cane about 3 times today and just couldn’t buy it..stupid I know…should often be using one
I'll be in GA for my Canadian Thanksgiving! Susan's promised a turkey dinner :)
It Would have been my anniversary on the same day - another reason why I'm not staying home. I'd rather not be alone, thank you very much!!
Betty, Todd was 215 before he got sick. Now 140.
Dianne, Don't know when he sees the doctor again. Still can't find one in our insurance network without driving 3 hours each way. He isn't up to that. He has some good days, others are not so good. He gets tired easily. That's the side effects of the chemo pills. He still has his appetite. He cooked ribeye steak for dinner. Yummy!
Betty, I lovebthat costume. What is the orange thing?
Linda, our insurance sent me a book with all local in network Drs. Came in very handy. Maybe ask if yours has such a book.
Morning, will be a sunshine day here..prayers for all in USA, hope facility and friends you have on east coast are all ok.
love the fall..must find time in my schedule to get the grass cut..now that ditches are done it’s a sin not to have the rest cut..usually cut til end of October then the rider gets serviced, batteries out and covered for winter.
My goodness Lindakay, Todd must resemble a skeleton..sure hope now that 2nd round of chemo is done he will start putting weight back on. Do the boys come to help you so you are not overdoing? Guess there is no grass to cut? But other chores need doing. Those orange pieces are the slip on feet.
When I listen about all the plans of medical options Karen I am so confused.. too many plans. So what are the plans now for moving, bet your head is just spinning with all details needing to be done.
I’d be excited Susan, will be a lot of fun for you. Bet Susan will find
Debbie is this weekend one of your dog shows?
Dianne, what will you do on this nice fall day
Sharon, what are your temps, bet they are enjoyable
Liz, checking up on you
Just finished curling my hair as I’m going out this afternoon shopping with Sharon and Linda and then out to the Mandarin for supper but before that I have three kids coming over for sewing lessons one young one would like to do a project so I was thinking wine cork pumpkin he hasn’t been except for workshops and his brothers away doing fun things so his mom thought maybe coming here would make him happy
Enjoy the day
That costume is adorable Betty. I look forward to seeing photos of Grayson wearing it!
I'm leaving on Monday for the show, it runs Tuesday through Friday, with our big annual awards dinner on Friday night. I really look forward to this week, seminars, meetings, lots of dogs, from all over the country, and some foreign. It's a chance to see friends I only talk to via facebook, and catch up on everything. My daughter and neighbor will watch the dogs left at home.
This weekend is going to be lots of cleaning, laundry, packing. Still waiting to get my car back, too. The dealer called yesterday and said today, late morning/early afternoon it will be ready.
Have a great time on your trip, Susan!
LindaKay, I second the idea of contacting your insurance about doctors in your area. Maybe if there isn't someone who is appropriate for the care he needs, they will approve using someone "out of network".
We have been told in network oncologist are in San Antonio. There are out of network ones, but that means mega money every 3 weeks out if our pockets. He will be on chemo treatments till February, every 3 weeks we have lab work and see doc for follow-up. Lab work cost us $225.00 and the out of network doctor is $425.00. We just can't afford that every 3 weeks from now till after the new year. Insurance company says they will let us know if one comes available.
Hard to believe, less than two weeks to closing if all goes according to plan. Our mortgage company in MI is whipping right along and the one for buyers down here are crawling. Crazy.
Praying everything goes quickly and smoothly for you..
Another sunshine day in my neighbourhood, will do this morning’s class then it’s grass cutting time..promising myself after that I’ll rest, smiling as i am looking at the stained glass piece that needs touch ups before finishing..that counts as resting, sitting on couch relaxing to do it..
Oh Karen, you must be bitting your nails, once it’s over you can take a deep breath and start enjoying life.
I am sure Lindakay with charges like that there are many who go without medical care, sad it it…best I don’t complain about my $100. Yearly for meds as all else is covered. Sure hope they find an answer to help Todd, enough going through what he is going through without having to worry about finances to cover it.
Deb sure hope your vehicle was repaired on time for your travels. You will so enjoy your show, meeting up with old friends is always a highlight. Is your show in Indiana?
Sharon was to have gone but she is having troubles with one of the pups, with socializing and now doing mega training..she is sorry she missed it..here is hoping mega points and ribbons will come home with you
It’s that time, kids will be here in a few minutes, I’m ready for them but need a coffee
Enjoy your day Betty.
Stew is seeking so good
Went to Foodland, they sell the frozen rolls the bake themselves so much easier than making rolls on thanksgiving.
Decided cleaning craft room and cutting grass can wait.
All is good here everyone. 93 today but gradually cooling off. We will finally be in the high 80s next week. My winter veg garden is doing good and I am helping GD that is living in one of my rentals with her's. This is her first.
Betty that costume was adorable. My children and grandchildren were never much into Halloween. Betty, that cork decoration is perfect.
All is well here. Vern's son is still living with me and will probably be here for another 6 months, if not longer. It was a year Sept. 26th. Total mismanagement by the HOA Board but we are taking them to the state.
I have a weeding here at my property on the 14th. My pool guy's daughter is getting married to anther female and I have know this young lady since she was about 8. They were having difficulties finding places to get married that they could afford. So I offer my beautiful back landscape and they grabbed it. I have warned them I will be doing nothing but make the landscape look good. The rest is on them. They want to buy me something i told them please do not. There is not a thing I want.
Linda, you need to contact the Insurance Commissioner. I am sure there are rules, if they have no one approved then they need to step up. It is unreasonable to expect a cancer patient to travel 3 hours one way for treatment. Also contact the Cancer Association.
Pat, I am hoping you are having a wonderful trip.
Liz, good luck at the dog show.
Susan, have a great trip.
Karen, I am holding my breath for your closings to go smoothly.
Dianne, how are the herd. I have one and she weighs 20 lbs. You are one brave woman.
I need to walk Emma because on Sunday I have dinner with my daughter and her family. I take Emma so she need her walk before we go and I have to be there before 5 because the 2 year old has a low sugar meltdown if she does not eat at the right time. You can just about set your clock to it.
Hugs to you all from sunny Las Vegas. Flash flooding going on right now just east of us in Arizona.
Evening Sharon, so nice to see you post..(as with everyone)
Enjoy your heat, read on Midland Times I get daily they are called for frost tonight, big sigh, much too soon I think.
Lordy it’s taking so long your Vern’s son to get back into his apartment..he will have forgotten how to live alone soon.
So nice to hear about Sunday meal, am sure there is lots to gab about..
How very kind of you offering up your beautiful gardens, the couple couldn’t find a livelier place. A beautiful plant for your garden in memory of them getting married would be a nice gift.
How is flash flooding in Arizona come about? Surge from Florida’s Ian
Dog’s have a schedule, am sure Emma asks for her leash lol
Mom is on a schedule, every 3 or is it 4 hours up until 11pm… am sure if something happened to mom and I am in care of Bella the 11pm outing will have to change.
Got a lazy on, had my stew and now off to close lights downstairs and make sure all glue guns are unplugged then to bed I go along with my chocolate cream eclair 🥱
Enjoy your garden Sharon
Betty, you have had a busy day. Know the kids were all happy with their projects. That penguin outfit is precious.
Sharon, Nice to hear from you. How Nice of you to offer your beautiful yard for a wedding. Hope we can get photos.
Sharon a wedding in your garden sounds lovely. A nephew used our yard for his wedding. It was raining buckets as everyone arrived. We did have a large tent for reception and had a gazebo for the wedding. Plans had to change. As soon as we has the tent rearranged and chairs set up for wedding of course the rain stopped. After everone left, we had a large collection of umbrellas. Tried to find owners but most just stayed with us.
Betty, The kids all look so proud of their projects. So good of you to have the classes. They will long remember. I had a neighbor who taught me many hand crafts. A lovely Polish woman. She also taught me a lot about gardening. I don't believe she had any family so I gained another grandmother.
Plans are falling into place. We have our moving truck reserved. Grandson is flying down and driving it up for us. Unloaders are lined up for up there. I think we have our loaders lined up for here.
My sister came today an took my birdhouse collection home. She's going to put them on top of her kitchen cabinets. I enjoyed them and glad she will now. I had my quilts hung on the railing around our balcony here and the bird houses sat on them. Surprisingly the cats never bothered them. I'll miss the things I'm eliminating but they will be enjoyed elsewhere. More will go away after our move. All my Emmet Kelly Jrs. will go to a granddaughter I was surprised to learn loved clowns too. Those awful scary movies ruined that for so many.
Morning, well we had frost overnight but the sunshine will soon get rid of the heavy white on the lawns, giving us a preview of white lol
Ziggy wanted out but that was short lived, doesn’t like the cold, now beside me purring and kneading my leg, needs his nails cut.
Dianne did you get frost? Bet the TH will like their fall walks.
Deb, best of luck at the dog show, look forward to hearing all about it.
So glad to hear things are falling into place, take pictures of all your pretties and put them in an album for you to from time to town can browse, that way you will still have them with you. Wonderful you have so much help and heartwarming your grandson will fly down and drive you north. If I remember correctly is closing end of month?
Didn’t sleep well, where to heck do dreams come from, why to heck did I dream I got raped, talked him in to leaving, left his wallet..i nailed shut all the doors etc..Lordy Lordy
Just put on a light short sleeveless dress in hopes it will help leg to heal having no pant leg rubbing against the gouge.
Lenny, Suzanne’s husband just dropped in with a few pants to sew buttons on, he was on the way to the dump so got them done so he can pick them up on his way back from town.
Had some changes in my sewing times, for the life of me i can’t think if I have a class tonight..will go back in conversations with Sharon and see, almost sure I do, wish I didn’t as last week tired me out with having nightly class, shopping for fabric in Barrie, making costume, having sewing Saturday and workshop Sunday.
Have to rest as Friday will be pie day and you know me with my pies..promised a few to my niece so will be close to a dozen
got some terrile news this morning. Susan passed away last ight. Her son phoned me this morning to tell me.
Oh no. I am so sorry to hear that Susan. Sending our condolences and prayers.
Betty, what did you do to your leg?
Hard to believe you are not make list and time of all your classes. You love to make list.
Oh Susan sincerest condolences on the passing of your friend. This was the Susan you were going to meet up with - yes?
Betty Grayson looked quite cute in his penguin suit.
Lovely Fall day here but cool enough I needed a jacket and gloves when we walked. I haven't had a fire yet and probably could have but I play this crazy game with myself. I like to see how late in the year I can go without a fire.
No Betty I don't miss working on SG at all. After doing it for over 20 years almost on a daily basis for usually 12 hours a day I don't miss it at all. Working on that grinder really took a toll on my fingers. I honestly think that all of the soldering I did cauterized my nose as I can't smell anything.
Feel like a nap but think I will go for another walk.
Karen it sounds like everything is falling into place for your move. I am so happy for you and Walt. Safe travels.
Stay safe
