Sharon, I spent part of a summer in Canada when I was a teen. I was used to 100-degree weather, so when the locals were "dying" of heat at 90, I was fine! I used to go swim in the lake 2x a day, (once was in the evening) & then sleep with a blanket! I have never heard of "chocolate covered hooks", that is PERFECT!!! LOL
Betty, you & Sharon need to discuss it and AGREE that you will REMIND each other that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will you cave to your mother's pleas to allow her to move in!!! I'm serious. You might even make an actual list of why it is a terrible idea. Goodness don't share it with her (she'll argue every point) but let it strengthen your resolve should you ever waiver even the tiniest bit! She is such a master manipulator; I can easily see her trying to wear you down. You are a good and kind person, don't let her snooker you! LOL
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Garden time, let’s sit and enjoy our gardens, decks and great company..all welcome!!
Oh Lordy Sharon 105f° in your neck of the woods and i had to wear a jacket outside today.
Sure hope you can get somewhere with HOA, Brian must be beside himself but I’m sure he is comfy staying at your house. There should be a big lawsuit, I’ve not heard anything like that happening. You must be so frustrated.
Kudos to your grandson, in a tournament at 12, amazing! Is it through school activities or he has availability of using courses.
Jeff plays about 5 times a week, he and Greg played Saturday , i gather Jeff won.
Nice to have the kids visit, how old are the babes?
Great way to try and talk to mom..getting trouble
Falling asleep, men sybsay prayer'
Good morning.
We were sent home yesterday afternoon. Local surgeon says he won't touch another surgeon patient. So we came home and called Todd's surgeon, sent him pictures of the scar and where it was bleeding.
He told us it's normal for surgery patients to do this sometimes. Sometimes something inside will leak, and form a pool of blood. Most of the time it will go away on its own. This time it was pooling in his lower abdomen next to his incision, and found a weak spot to release itself. So we were instructed to just cover it with gauze, keep it clean. He sent amoxicillan for him to take. We have to send more photos in a few days so he can keep an eye on it.
Oh goodness, that is scary. I had a tiny incision open & it scared me to death! I can't imagine how you & Todd must feel. How is his temperature? What else are they monitoring? I think I would be sending his surgeon pictures EVERY time I changed gauze & cleaned the wound.
He has no fever. I keep a close eye on the wound. No redness around the area. It scared both of us.
that really scares me Linda Kay
When I had my kidney operation and was ready to be released that morning I kept complaining that it was burning and that something was wrong and I was told nothing was wrong but as the morning progresses the circle of red kept getting bigger and bigger and I argued that I shouldn’t be going home that something was wrong finally when the doctor came in he was really mad at the nursing staff because he said had I taken the two hour trip home because it was done in Oshawa that I possibly could be dead so He got the knife made an incision without any kind of painkillers or freezing it and put tubes in it to drain it I was there two days afterwards to make sure there was no more infection
You’ll have to be vigilant which I know you are because that part really bothers me prayers coming your way
Woo hoo I'm back on DG. I just couldn't log on. I've missed you all.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers for Todd and yourself LK. At least he is home and with you keeping an eye on him if things go awry you will be right on top of it.
Betty there is a fellow - Drake Milligan who is competing on AGT. As a kid he did some Elvis competitions in Collingwood. Look him up on you tube. He's an accomplished musician now, a picnic for the eyes and presents himself as a well put together package.
Saw my GP this morning and I have to see a cardio doc plus I decided to have a cortisone shot in my left knee. The shot is in place of a knee replacement. I had so many problems with my right knee I'm not too keen on going through all of the that again. Although the doc was quick to point out that this have really changed in the last 20 years.
Susan you sound busy - good for you.
Sharon I wish I lived closer I would love some of your tomatoes.
Hope Karen's house hunting is going well.
Stay safe, well and happy.
Hey Dianne, glad you were able to log back on.
Take care if that knee.
I think I found who you were talking about.
He does nice county music too.
https://youtu.be/eLt9kdo0EBs
https://youtu.be/7VXeBlVgbMk
That's him LK. Howie Mandel called him the new Elvis of country.
Pat I come from a family of poor sleepers - well my dad's side. I sympathize with you. My mom could drop off almost as soon as her head hit the pillow. My sister was a poor sleeper and her oldest son is too. I always say when I come back in my next life I am going to come back as a sleeper.
Glad to see you back Dianne..
I’m sure things have gotten much better and easier in 20yrs, if injection does not help then it’s something to consider..Linda went to a specialist this morning and this is what he told her
“ Just left orthopaedic’s office.
Got some bad news but got shot in knee only. If he gives me a cortisone in in hip I would need a hip replacement. I have a large tear in a muscle can’t remember the name of muscle he said ethically he can’t do cortisone in the area with the tear it could make it so bad I would need a hip replacement right away.”
Dianne will you have a l9ng wait for cardio appt?
Drake Milligan is indeed eye candy, I likely would have heard him as i was at all the collingwood finals. He is great. collingwood I am sure have lost mega business seeing they are no longer having the Festival..the last year they ran it (before Covid) they couldn’t find enough volunteers so I think Niagara Falls is taking it over.
June was saying Kempenfest in Barrie is scheduled august long weekend..hope the rusted iron vendori is there.
Just had a visitor, Marlene Irish,Moshe is the oneI said I could me her medical clone, she saw that i wasn’t in the pain, couldn’t believe it..not sure which change caused it.
Pat are you improving at all?
Deb how are you doing?
Thanks for the link Linda, I enjoyed them, ESPECIALLY the country one. GREAT voice & cute face.
Dianne, "come back as a sleeper", I like it!!!
Yes, getting better, not 100% but getting there.
Thanks for the link Linda, I enjoyed them, ESPECIALLY the country one. GREAT voice & cute face. I know you said there was no fever or redness. I know we are ALL CONCERNED, & praying for you both.
Our longarm lesson just canceled today. Some staff members came down with Covid, an employee had a stroke & is in the hospital. Needless to say, they are VERY short handed right now.
Afternoon, I must be losing it, thought aI posted, know I went to look what our weatherman predicted weather to be so lost the post, add that I had one of my students come at 9am because school is out I plum forgot about it.
How is Todd doing today? Is the infection clearing? prayers being said for both off you and for those who lost their life being transported to USA.
Karen, how are you making out, hope not I’ll and pleased with different homes that are for sale.
sounds Pat that Covid is increasing in numbers, scary. With you not back to feeling yourself and what is happening at the long-arm store you are best to wait a few more weeks for classes.
We had a light rain, more a mist all morning and now the sun is trying to come out..should have lasted all day.
A woman brought me a big bag of god knows what, she spends a lot of t8me in India every year and brings clothing back, not sure I can use it for anything, any idea?
Some I will cut up and might do ok with a project.mill post photo’s what phoebe made this morning.
Sitting here working on the bevel glass dove..not liking it so i have to remind myself this is the ugly stage.
.
I can imagine an "ugly stage" but never an end finished product that is ugly if you made it!
Took a pic while I was thinking of it, in case I don't get another taken when it's in full bloom. The yellowish thing at the foot of it is a garden art rabbit. I first put it there when the hollyhocks were just an inch tall, hoping to deter the lawn mower from executing my baby flowers.
Betty, can you post photos of what your friend gave you? What type of fabric?
Pat, your plant is beautiful.
Sorry to hear about the staff not doing well. Praying they all recover quickly.
Ohhh hollyhocks, what i wouldn’t give to have them Pat, do they come up from last year or you planted this spring?I’ve one plant and the bugs like hollyhocks. What i do have though are a lot of ground roses in bloom, so pretty although they are invasive, at least in my gardens.
Lindakay I through almost all of it away, won’t tell her though..few pieces of yardage I can use and cut decorative glitter and lace pieces from them. Don’t want to keep what i won’t use.
How is Todd today?
Up later tonight, almos finishedthatdove piece, dont think i will be doing the other one I have.
Todd is doing much better, Thanks you.
I have done that. Someone years ago gave me a bunch of fabric, turned out to be yards of upholstery fabric. I took it to the quilting group, and a lady there had been looking for just what I had. I was glad to give it to her.
last year I bought a couple of tiny little plants and they never got bigger than a foot tall. THIS year I finally got it to grow & bloom. YES, bugs love hollyhocks!
Afternoon, having trouble with Roger’s, keep losing internet and of course it it had to happen after writing a long post, shaking my head, why I don’t copy from time to time so if it happens at least I’ve a good portion saved like Sharon does.
How is Todd today?
Love your hollyhocks Pat, am thinking I’ll look for pkgs of seed and sow them this fall and see if I’ve better luck..my one plant i am sure won’t give me but a few seeds.
Went into town and did groceries and supplies to make another stained glass piece, should give me something to do this weekend.
Light rain this morning but it’s sunshine and hot, best I turn the a/c in again.
Lily who usually come to sew at 4:30 on Thursday’s is coming at 3:00
Her mom will pick her up so we will arrange a morning appointment.
Think before my get up and go has gone I’ll go cut grass, should have enough time to
Get it done before Lily gets here
Gab after
Got my grass cut, going to look for my water sprinkler, the one i have been using isn’t working properly, seeing it’s an even day number I can water grass until it’s soaked.
Im sure there are a few somewhere..
I put some scrappy glass in the kiln, i will practice drilling holes on them before the leaves I’ve got ready.
Would take me about 1 1/2 hrs to put black patina on the Xmas tree stained glass then sit and paint the cane using a black finish, it’s just like nail polish..
Need Sharon to drop off the Inuk piece. I’d Sharon doesn’t drop of the pattern I will start this one
I had garlic sausages the other day, cooked them all, have 2 left with hash potatoes, should be having that for supper but I bought 1/2 doz corn, won’t taste like fresh but I’m sure i will enjoy, no shortcake anywhere so I bout a strawberry cake to go with my berries and whip cream.. talking about it is making hungrier..
That is about it for my day
Sounds like you had a bust day. Love the glass pieces. That corn looks good too.
Todd is doing good. Eating good, and moving around a bit more.
Wonderful news Lindakay stronger each day before you know it he will be chasing you around the house.
Told Sharon to come for supper, she brought pattern for Inukchuk. She is pre diabetic
And started no carbs diet but she couldn’t resist strawberry cream cake, topped with strawberries and whipped cream.
Heading to bed, eyes are so heavy..
I have been told I have been pre diabetic for years. Never had any problems.
Linda, I'm so glad to hear that Todd is back on the mend. It was scary to read about his incision getting infected and opening.
We are back in TN. Trip was great with all the visiting. The house hunting part was just awful. Houses that looked to be in good shape in photos were absolute wrecks in person. Very difficult to get an agent to help us. We have decided that a one story condo would suit us. We plan to explore in that direction.
Meanwhile we started back today bringing Amelia and Lorelei with us. They were so excited to be coming with us and were just great traveling. It turned into an extra long day on the road.
About 3:00 we got a message from our agent here that there was an offer coming in a couple hours. We got off the road so we would not be distracted while dealing with it. As it turned out, the offer was for our full asking price and the concessions they asked for were not unreasonable. So if all goes according to plan, our house is sold.
Not going to stress. If push comes to shove, we will pack up in PODS which can then be stored until we find a place that will suit us. We have 4 kids and they all have offered us a place to stay as long as needed. In fact one daughter wants us to live there and keeps talking about it. We of course are not going that route. We will take what ever time we have left and live on our own.
Had we known the sale was coming, we would have stayed up there a few more days and maybe would have had some luck house hunting. The people just looked at the house around noon today.
Good morning, light rain falling but we need more rain as the gardens are dying already…boo hoo..
Happy Canada Day Dianne and Susan, will you be attending any special events in your community?
What great news Karen about the upcoming sale of the house..how long before you know for sure and have they given you a closing date?..hope closing is before snow blows in.
Lindakay,mhowisTodd.
Susanbet you are busy with Canada day celebrations with your group,
I just traced out Sharon’s stained glass piece..i could have sworn I had more of the colours I needed but not
will have a high of 75, feel sorry for all the event planners for Canada Day Celebrations unless rain stops, around noon..so much effort goes into plannning.
One,of my little ones come today at 9, best,I go downstairs and get organized
With all well, enjoy your day..
Hope your house sale goes through. Good luck finding your new home in Michigan.
Todd is still doing good. Getting up, doing little things around the house, getting his own drinks now.
Happy 4th of July weekend everyone.
Happy Canada Day Betty and Susan. No big celebrations around here. I think there will be a fireworks display tonight. I'm not budging from down here.
Betty I'm waiting for your rain. My joints are telling me it is on its way.
Karen great news on the sale of your house. Hope you and Walt will be able to find a home in Michigan.
Happy to read Todd is getting better each day. How are you doing LK ?
I'm sleepy - I think I might have a nap.
Early Happy Fourth of July !!!
I am doing good. Getting into a normal routine for everything.
Hi - sorry I've been so lax in coming here.
LindaKay - saw about Todd's leaking. How scary is that? Glad to hear he's now doing better, eating better, and moving around more.
Betty - Don't let your mom manipulate you. The suggestion to keep a list between you & Sharon about why she Shouldn't move in with either of you is a good one.
Pat - LOVE hollyhocks. "he" never wanted them, said they spread. In some places that's a good thing LOL Just have to be judicious in pruning them back.
No Canada Day anything with my seniors. They only want one "big" thing per month, and July 21st is our yearly "picnic" inside the hall. Looking forward to that.
News on Bob - court date is Monday the 4th, and having to fill out some paperwork for Legal Aid for a divorce, they were asking for information on Court cases. I called the courthouse & found he has FOUR matters he's appearing for, on July 4th. I'm going to attend. I won't need to testify (that would be at a trial, date to be set this Monday), but I do need to know what he's being charged with. This will help with the divorce, I'm sure. I also found out that he blew up at the last lawyer, and I suppose that's why he'd fired Bob?!?! Not sure. Besides the assault charge I laid on him, he may still be dealing with the rape charge SHE laid on him. No idea what the other 2 are. The constable he blew up at when he returned here for some of his stuff will appear at the trial, should he be asked to, by the crown prosecutor.
This all doesn't look good for Bob. His current lawyer is telling him he's entitled to half of all the marital property. There is NO way I'm moving from here. Apparently he's borrowing $$ from his girlfriend (Naomi) that he can't pay back, so he gave her a laptop (and he could afford this, how?). He's digging himself in deep.
I'm heading to Calgary today, to attend a memorial for a friend. Looking forward to seeing all my friends, but isn't it always the way - see friends more at funerals & memorials than all the other years. I'm only 1 hour's drive, so hope I can convince them to come visit me..... As of today, I'll have been to Calgary 3x just this Spring/Summer, and would like them to see my new place.
Young man 2 doors down from me will come & look at my lawnmower to see why it's not working and regardless, he'll mow my lawn for me today. So, I'll come home to a nicely mown lawn. He's doing it for kindness, but I'm going to talk to him about hiring him for odd jobs like straightening out my shed, and yard work. Hope he has the time. He's nineteen, and as nice a young man as one could hope to know.
Karen, hoping it all goes WELL and quickly!!!
Linda, great news that Todd continues to improve.
Dianne, I hope you get some relief with the knee. My stepdaughter just had a shot in the knee. When she told the MD how surprised she was that it didn't hurt, he told her if they are done RIGHT, they don't hurt! He said he teaches the procedure at the Med school. She's had shots before, and they were very painful.
A/C guy is supposed to come today. Let's hope so as he already rescheduled once.
Susan, good luck in court. Sounds like Bob is in trouble if he has 4 different charges against him.
I get shots in my left knee every 3 months. I have never had one hurt. My doctor spray my knee first with liquid oxygen to numb it, and I never felt the needle.
Was Susan's post in facebook? I did not see what you are referring to Linda.
Scroll up. It's just above your previous post

Yep, that happens. I get to the site, right post and do not realize that someone had posted in between my arrival and post. THANKS all for helping me see that!
Susan, praying that you can be free from all connection to Bob soon. He is just digging himself deeper and deeper as you already noted.
The AC company was here & NOW they want to come back and do the deep clean that I asked for when scheduling. I am not really happy about it. I expressed that to the Tech, let him know that while I was pleased with HIS work, the office support staff really screwed things up. Oh well...
Evening everyone
Dianne you need not get excited Re rain, was a mist til about 1:00pm, sky is dark grey but nothing.. did you need rain?
Watched tv all day while playing with glass, they were saying major storms all over USA, hope they don’t affect you.
Susan, 4 charges, Lordy what became of the caring Bob you were married to? Don’t blame you for wanting to see what are charges are, likely for the no show at court.
Hope your neighbour was able to repair you lawnmower, it’s nice if he cuts it but unless he will do it every week you have to have a mower. Is a shame isn’t it that we just meet at funerals… talking of funerals, saw this posted today, photo attached’
Pat do you have more energy, while watching tv they were saying how Covid numbers are increasing at a face rate..it’s been a few weeks for you correct? How is Marie and her hubby?
Deb, you walking better?
Sharon, can’t believe how many tomatoes you got, my plants are extra large but no flowers, same for cucumbers.
Lindakay, just being able to do little things must make Todd feel better. Must be a changes from your regular routine.
Karen, hope the trip north didn’t tire you out too much?
Broadcasters were saying how many people were travelling this weekend, with storms /delays because of cancellations airports are quite a mess.
Our high today was 103 and not a cloud in the sky. So I didn't do much outside today. DD, DSIL and myself are going over to rental property to get a few last minute items completed. house was cleaned today and so interested to see if they got the grease off the backsplash and cook top. Everything we will be working on is outside so thank goodness we will be working in the back landscape that is in shade from very large trees.
Big weekend in Las Vegas. Town will be packed with a 3 day weekend. We do have amazing fireworks and only have to go upstairs to see them. The fireworks do not upset Emma, and that is good because once they start they go on forever.
Karen, that is wonderful news about the offer on your home. Pods are wonderful. My granddaughter moving here from Grand Rapids was going to use them but they would not receive delivery for 4 weeks after they got here so thy are heading this way driving an U-Haul and one car. They have two french bull dogs that are in crates in the car. They left this morning. They left here years ago, driving a U-Haul on the way to hubby's med school in Kansas City. They didn't want that experience again but had no choice.
Other DGD is here with her hubby and 2 children from St. Louis. Their condo has sold and hubby is leaving tomorrow to fly home, get his car and drive to Nashville for his first residency stop. He will be there for 7 weeks and then heads to Hanover for second rotation and then back to St. Louis for 3rd rotation. They will pack up everything in pods and when he is done and decides where he is doing his residency, then they will purchase a home. In the meantime DGD and her two babies will stay with my daughter.
I will try to check in later, I have to take Emma for her afternoon walk before I leave for a few hours.
Looks like kept busy today Betty. Love that glass tree.
It is a new routine for us, but we are doing pretty good. Amazing how fast we are adapting to the changes.
Betty - I doubt that the no-show at court on Apr 7th would be a charge?!?! I'll let you know when I know.
