Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Garden time, let’s sit and enjoy our gardens, decks and great company..all welcome!!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

That's wonderful news LindaKay!! I bet it felt good getting home after all that, and all the sweeter with those reports from the doctor!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sunshine day here but wind is up, would have loved to put fire to the pit but too windy.

Drats, i spent most of the day trying to get on DG to not avail, drove me crazy, finally got an email from DG Melody admin and sent me a link..was sure if membership was done, hadn’t received notification, tried to join again, wouldn’t let me as I wanted to to use Same email address..anyway here I am.

Will go back and read posts once i get outdoor chores done

I’m thrilled at your news Lindakay, but you both were smiling all the way home..positive news is what we were praying for. You will have to get his weight and let us know how much he puts on this month.

Guess Karen is on her way north

How are you doing Deb?

For all others I will be back in a bit

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I don't know how this thread got "unwatched" but I've reset it now.
Glad to hear that Todd's doing well at home. My goodness, "what can go wrong did go wrong" for sure, but now he's on the mend, with the tube being removed tomorrow.

Betty - lovely gardens, as usual :)

My secretary at the Senior's Centre has quit. She didn't like my "micro-management". Well, when a dinner is at 5, and setup is at 4, saying in the minutes that it's 6 & 5 o'clock needs to be corrected. Saying (in the minutes) that our insurance is $28 for the year, when it's actually $2,831.35, needs to be corrected. Putting in the Phone List that someone's email is "miller@gmail.com" when it actually has their personal names in the email as well, needs to be corrected. Yup, that's me, the micromanager........... Her scolding the Treasurer saying she was reporting on stuff that belongs somewhere else in the meeting, and scolding the membership for not making motions.......... Things like that could be said outside of the meeting, in an Executive meeting afterwards, not stopping the meeting in the middle of it, to scold us. Ah well, I'm working with someone to find us another secretary (and the secretary does NOT have to be a member).

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She's not a good secretary. I agree, time for a new one.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

WOW, those are some stellar mistakes! PRASIE in public but scold in private is generally the best idea. I bet she did the same as a mother & her kids hated it! Hopefully you will find a positive upbeat, ACCURATE recording person to fill her spot soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Fought all afternoon to get on again..sure not liking it..normally I never close DG so no need to open it again with user name and password..oh well, managed to get on, now that everyone is ready for bed.

Yes Susan those are indeed major error..isn’t that an awful amount lot of $$$ for insurance..yikes, how can any small club survive..think what happens at little, organizations such as this everyone wants the social part but don’t like the running like a business..these days a lot of people tape the minutes. Good luck with find8ng a new secretary.

How is Todd tonight, he must be loving having the tube out, far more comfy.

How are you feeling today Pat?

Dianne, you must have any bugs at your place as they are all here..hate those micro mini bugs, always get a mouth full. Is your community celebrating Canada Day this weekend or next.

Deb, are you able to get around better.

Sharon,so much going on in your family, update please

Liz, are their mega fires in your region yet?

i had kids here sewing from 2-6:30pm, guess is bushed..having toast for supper, really wanted to order poutine but thought I’d wait till tomorrow night.

Finished the Xmas tree piece, well almost, need to buy half size green alleys for small areas. It is at the ugly stage right now.. trying to use up supplies I already have.Already have another started, Sharon gave me 2 kits for small dove..if I do those 2 this month I’ll be happy camper..where to put them all?

Melanie dropped 8n with Noah for a shower, the are having their main washroom redone so no shower or tub..today they were putting in floor heating..figure it will be another 1 1/2 weeks of the mess so both showered here and said ‘see you tomorrow’

Melanie is on 2 weeks holidays, she gets 6, she is taking Cathy to Barrie hospital for tests to confirm if her cancer is back..big sigh.

DG isn't very friendly lately. It takes forever to load a page, a week or two ago, I couldn't get logged in.
Sounds like you are keeping busy Betty. Please don't over do it.
Todd is very glad to be tube free. He gets tired easily, but refuses to nap during the day. Because he has had his nights and days mixed up. Doctor told him to sleep when he feels the need. He needs good rest to heal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, calling for another beautiful day, sure hope the next 2 days or like today..so many events planned for Canada Day I’d hate to see them rained out.

I’m with the doctor, more rest the better for Todd, do you have a lounger outside he could enjoy a nap while getting fresh air?

Had my coffee, time to put clothes in dryer then out to cut grass..i would like to leaves here around noon, have to pick up supplies at Gayle Stained glass, pick up a box of jewellery pieces Darlene wants to give me, groceries and be home before the fun starts.

Am hoping wind settles down so I can have a bonfire and listen to the bands play..think they start at 4pm

Enjoy your day

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I've struggled with getting to sleep, had to resort to meds & then get woke up by telemarker at 630 in the morning!!! I am trying to get to bed at a decent hour & GET sleep. I've had the whole "mixed up night & day" and don't want that! I understand Todd's reluctance to nap. Maybe you can get him agree to compromise of "just an hour" and agree to be sure to do it by 2PM.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

He like your idea Pat.
Betty, I hope your festivities don't get rained out.
We desperately need rain here. These 100+ days aren't helping any of the vegetation in the area. Supposed to ve 103 again this afternoon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

At one time I think the telephone companies had a number you coded in you phone and prevented call..you should really as an individual be able to block those calls. Nothing worse than having your days and nights mixed up..i find when i am up around 5 that it only takes a few days and My days and night are off track.

Lindakay, we get about 3 nice days than 2 with rain and luckily those days lately have been early morning or late evening.

think the festival hit it dead on weather wise because it’s gorgeous out there and music just a pounding..sounds like those cars that have base too loud, a boom a boom but I’m sure when a different band comes on that will change.

Brought the Xmas tree window hanging to Gayle for camping and picked up the big blue one..I’m sure the one I stated this morning will be done to drop off on Friday..

Dropped into Darlene’s, she had a big box of bees and jewellery fixings for me, likely won’t ever use them but then if i do need them I’ll have them right.

She had bed skirts still in package (3). Pretty fabric so I will cut the fabric of gauze and it will be fabric kids can use.

Ran into my cousin Doug from Cognashene Lake, it’s their monthly trip into town, price you pay when you live on an island. Later I went to pharmacy and met my 2nd cousin who is a pharmacist, she was transferred from Wasaga Beach to Midland..Lordy her hair is going gray, guess just not just I age, everyone ages 😂

Still more goodies in the car, best I go get them and then wash my lawnmower and put it away..

Likely a long night..once at one time I would have had my dancing shoes on and joining in the fun but now I just enjoy those who can participate in these events.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Seems like everyone I know is aging. My kids included.

I talked to Judy awhile ago. She has to has 2nd surgery on her carotid arteries again. She had both done last year, and they are both forming scar tissue that has to be cleared out.
Please keep her in your prayers

Victoria Harbour, ON

I must call her..is that normal to have so many procedures on the arteries?

I’ve been staying away from mirrors..today i wore one of what my travelling buds call “my pretty outfits”. it was hot enough i didn’t wear the light coverall that goes with them, i look down while pushing the cart and saw the look of my arms all bruised, one would think someone beat me up..i must remember to put one in the car.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She told me, the doctor told her it's not common, but does happen.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Another hot day here. Not a cloud in the sky. Redo on rental is moving forward. New garage doors were installed today. They had to be replaced because old tenant damaged them. Probably hit them with their cars. They power washed the house yesterday to paint tomorrow or Monday. Grass is looking normal. Shades have been removed and cleaned and only three need to be replaced. And because we are the original owners, they are guaranteed for life so they are sending new ones. My smart daughter tracked that one down.

Linda, I am with you in your no moisture for 100+ days. We had about 5 minutes of rain Wednesday. Most of it evaporated before it hit the ground. I am so pleased that Todd is improving. How is his eating going.

Betty, good weather is a blessing for your Canada Days celebration. You could you that jewelry and beads in some projects. Look it up on Pinterest. You will be trapped in a new set of project. And You have the talent to do it all.

I cleaned my back landscape yesterday like a mad woman. My garden helper hut hs back and the mow and blow guys were here today. I took my pruners, rake and digging hand tool and went wild on everything. Cleaned, pruned and made large piles. I cleaned weeds out of the rose bed and finally had to quit because it got to dark to determine if it was a plant or weed. Well the mow and blow guys showed up and spent some extra time cleaning up my mess. They knew I found out where they were blowing the leaves in their favorite hiding spots.

Tomatoes are doing great and I have delivered to many neighbors. Best part of growing tomatoes is sharing.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Todd is still eating good. Just not large portions till Jo's stomach tries to return to normal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunshine day however radar show rain starting at 3-5, wouldn’t you know it, that is the time scheduled for Elvis, they do have a cover ent tent over the outdoor rink and as long as the thunderstorm doesn’t last long it should be ok.
Wish I could share my rain..
I’m sure Lindakay with Todd not eating for so long and bowels not working his stomach has shrunk and takes little food to fill him up, slow but sure, glad he is on the mend. Did you find someone to cut grass?

Sharon, sounds like you are nearing completion of the rental property..did you take before and after photo’s? Can you go after tenant for cost of major repair items like garage door? Still too early for tomato’s here..Ted has about 12 large plants, i keep asking him if i can test his first tomato to see if it tastes good enough..am sure i won’t get 1st but will get some..sharing garden goods my tomato plants are nice and big bu no flowers..yellow beans doing ok, cucumbers i think are in an area too shaded..next year i will find a sunny location.

Sitting here typing and falling asleep, parade that comes down Park st, the corner of my house is at 11 so don’t know it boys will come sew this morning..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope you get to see elvis perform.
My neighbor has a guy that can cut the grass. But like everyone else, it's brown and crunchy. It got tall while we were in San Antonio, but it still needs to be cut.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I went to Marie's yesterday & cut Phil's hair. We were also going to do some sewing & longarm but Marie was still kind of "unclear mentally" from the after effects of Covid. Just NOT her usual self. After making one big cutting error, I suggested we bag it and look at pictures and discuss some potential projects. I did not think she needed to be operating expensive dangerous equipment & she agreed.

I got to bed before Midnight & got woke up out of sound sleep at 7 by another telemakerer. I did do some research and found I had NOT put myself on the national do not call list for this cellphone. I have taken care of that now. It is supposed to take up to 31 days for that to filter thru effectively. However, when you read the list of exclusions, it makes me wonder if it will be of any use!!! And really, how do you report a company that is using a fraudulently displayed phone number??? *sigh*

It's going to be a hot one here again.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We have been on that list for years and those companies keep calling anyways. I can click on each number and report them, but they just call back with another number.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would be nice to have their personal numbers and all them back..wonder what would happen if you left your phone on?

The Covid fog as the call it lingers on they say sometimes for months..yep, sure don’t want to play with expensive equipment when you are not up to it

I can hardly keep my eyes open, was going to have a nap earlier when Melanie came to get me for the parade, Lordy it was like an oven. Was Grayson’s 1st parade, the had Canada Day a week early because it is Victoria Harbour’s 200th anniversary of amalgamation.

I posted video’s on my Facebook page

Nice parade for such a little town..eats were free

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

EXACTLY!!! And the number they display is not even a good number. Try to call them back and it's not a working number. It is VERY frustrating, illegal and largely they get it away with it. I have so many sleep problems, it REALLY makes me mad when they wake me up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess Pat you will just have to put your phone in another room so you can get some unbroken sleep, sounds as though you aren’t improving..have you called a doctor?

Wonder how Karen is making out house hunting?

How is Todd doing today Lindakay?

No more work in the yard now except looking for a growing weed, I’d be outside on a lounge chair listening to the music but it’s so muggy you can’t breathe.. don’t know you gals take the heat.

4:20pm and I would so love to go to bed!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I can't handle this heat. I stay inside with sir conditioner on. My heart problems don't agree with the heat.
Todd is doing good..still eating normal food. Just waiting for therapy to show up next week.
Grayson sure is growing.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sweet pics Betty!! I am getting better. I have had sleep problems forever. Sometimes worse than others. I'll get it back on track before long. Marie says she feels "much clearer, less muddled" today.

Yep, eager to hear how the house showing/ selling/ buying expedition is going Karen.

Linda, so good to hear that things are continuing to go positive for you & Todd.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I for one Lindakay like my 4 seasons, most snow days you can be out and oats so beautiful to look out.you have about 6 months of extreme heat..

Pat, glad Marie is feeling better..I’d be so disappointed to have that beautiful machine sitting there and not being able to use it.

Maybe if you are better you can put a few quilts on and have fun.

It would be so nice for Karen to be around her family..think she misses them far more than she thought.
What a mush mash kind offaybut i am loving it..

Multi tasking, working on 4 “to do’s” at once

. Burned the wood in large pit
. Cleaned about 3/4 of back shed, now to get a broom and sweep it out
. Going through all the jewellery supplies Darlene sent me and now trying to find a
Place for it
. Working on the baby dove
. Cleaning craft rooms and wondering where I could put more shelving

Then June just came over for a visit, she is cleaning things out so she brought me a box of machine knitting books, hmmm haven’t used my machines in forever

Going to have lunch and hope I don’t loose my energy

They are calling for rain

Saying weather will change in a bit to thunderstorms so glad I’ve got so much done outside..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hard to believe you have so much energy, as much pain you are in most of the time.
Sounds like everyone is try to clean and sort, and giving you all thier extras. Now you need to find room for it all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, other than my being I’ll for 2 weeks with cold/flu a few weeks ago I’ve actually been in a lot less pain, likely for 3 reasons, gardening almost done and I’ve been watching myself, been sitting in living room doing stained glass rather than sewing and the doctor gave me different meds and different injection meds..

Instead of taking 5 Tylenol 3’s I’ve been taking one in morning, one in evening
And Darlene’s BIL bought me that seat belt helper and so when i drive the seat belt doesn’t sit on my shoulder

Drats, my mom called me with a mean voice and told me that I hadn’t spoken to her in one week what the heck has she done for me not to call, I was talking to her two days ago well two days and a night but that’s OK what do we have to talk about so fast I put that on my calendar with an alarm to remind me that I have to call her

Grrrr

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I wish your mother would just get over herself!!! I hope you reminded her that you talked to her just 2 days ago. AND she proved that SHE could call YOU! lol.

Better you than me. I have been actively trying to ward off more stuff trying to find ways into my house! If I have not used the knitting machine "in forever" I don't think I would even PEEK at those books!!!

We are scheduled to have more training on the longarm this coming Wednesday. I am looking forward to it. I am still VERY HOPFUL that we will MASTER it and really get some lovely quilts made up. We are making progress, it's just slower than I hoped.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sounds like she has dementia or something.
Hubby still has a little confusion now and then, and I gently remind him what's is correct, and what isn't.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

At least it sounds like Todd is willing to hear & accept that not everything is as it seems to him. THAT's big help!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes it is.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, wind out there, high of 60 today, good weather for working in the gardens.

Lindakay it’s a blessing that Todd doesn’t anger when you correct him, with being so sick and meds he is on its very easy for him to remember things differently, are you seeing him gaining strength?

Deb, are you getting around better than last week.

Paare you feeling better?t

My mom has a meanness to her, Dr, Jekyl and Mr, Hyde, to the family she has a meanness problem her, always wanting to pit one against the other, emotionally hurtful, then come to others..she is the sweetest thing, thoughtful, caring, loving and so giving.. all I can say is thank goodness my grandparents raised me, god blessed me there.

So much badness in her you that I know that i really could hit back with but won’t.
Have my time alert on to call her.

Sharon has her appointment for her tremors this morning, hope she can get some answers but likely will just get tests booked.

Bernie goes tomorrow, he has lost another 15lbs, nothing left to him, afraid of this answers.
Pat, I keep saying I’d like to work with the knitting machines bu just don’t..a couple books are manuals, think it’s for my heavy duty knitter i do all the Neck warmers with.

Have a friend dropping in at 1:30pm for a short visit as she is on afternoon shift, then at 7:30 as a woman who has an embroidery machine and uses it all the time will drop in, wants to talk about lessons on her sewing machine,9odd isn’t it that you can do embroidery machine but not know how to sew.

My goal for today if patina the big window hanging and divide a few hostas to the back

That ought to tire me out

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

As one who sewed like crazy and did not start to do the embroidery part, it really is 2 different skills, even if you are using the same machine!

getting better, I just tire easy and am short of breath quicker than normal. I am trying to take it slow and not give myself a setback.

Betty, as long as you know, even if you call every 2 days, it won't shut down her abuse. It will ALWAYS be something, real or imagined. Thank goodness you & Sharon have each other because your mother is one sick puppy!! Can you imagine if there wasn't one other person who knew the truth about your mother? YIKES.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am asking for continued prayers please? Todd woke up this morning, said his belly was hot and sore. Just as I went to look at it, the incision in his lower abdomen opened up and started draining lots of nasty stuff. So we are back at the ER, in our home town. Doctors said he has an infection that will need surgery to clean out. CT scan also shows a small tumor on his pancreas. They are waiting on MRI results, as well as lab reports.
Thank you all so much.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh goodness, you are in my prayers

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I am so sorry, LinkaKay. Prayers for Todd, and for you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank you

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending prayers Lindakay, hard enough to to regain strength but to be fighting internal infection, Lordy impossible. Now why on earth after spending a month in a big city hospital why would they have not seen the tumour ? So they will keep him til they do surgery.

There just aren’t any words Lindakay. How you both must be feeling seeing you were so hoping Todd was on the right healing track..roller coaster ride, no fun!

Dianne Debbie says can’t get on DG, i sent a message to dg

Sharon was at the specialist, they sent her home with different meds, she mentioned that operation where the take 2 nodules off or near the brain to stop it, specialist said they have to exhaust all meds available..she was very disappointed.

Yes Pat, no way any of us sibblings will ever make her happy.i just pray i have the fortitude to keep saying no, she cannot move in with me..she keeps telling me her friends children have or will take their parents in.
Your body is telling you that you still need to recuperate, thank god you had your shots.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am so sorry Linda. That news is not good. A small tumor on the pancreatitis can be removed. Especially if it is on a certain end. I will keep you and Todd in my prayers.

Betty, what you mother does is throwing you chocolate covered hooks. She throw one of her nasty remarks and you try to defend yourself or explain yourself and all along she is reeling you in. That is where she gets the pleasure. You just need to avoid those hooks and change the subject. It is like when someone deep sighs and you ask what the problem is. They say nothing. You ask, then why did you sigh, then they return, you wouldn't change anyway and then the battle is on. I had this in my lie, and I finally ignored the deep sighs and it was actually fun to watch them trying to get my attention. FINALLY, they give up and quit throwing the hook or deep sighing.

Saw my DGD and her family last night. Babies are adorable. They left with a bag full of fresh tomatoes and basil. Going to make delicious items for dinner.

I have a meeting with Brian, step-son at his HOA tonight. Wednesday is a meeting with an attorney on same item.

House is just about done for the other DGD and her hubby. They will be here the 4th so going to be close.

Pat, so pleased you are getting back to normal. My grandson is playing in a golf tournament today in Spokane. He is 12 and this is his first tournament. Temps were 90. Our temp today will be 105. Clouds are moving in from the North but probably will not make it here. Arizona is having rain and our mountains stop it from coming over into our valley.
