Best/Worse/What did you learn today? Everyone welcome, a thread where all are welcomed..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, yes they estimate if 80% of people get both Covid shots we likely can start leading a regular life but we are not just talking an area, would include all of Canada and mega restrictions re travelling..I see our government agencies are working on having an icon to show if you’ve had both vaccinations, a lot of places just might want to see it at some establishments and travel.

Picked up Bernie and drove to moms.. she had said she had things she couldn’t do but would tackle them a bit at time..left here at 7am, called Bernie and asked if he would come with me.. I transplanted some of her flowers, moved shrubs/rocks to where she wanted to change her garden design .. edged her gardens ..Bernie cut the grass , did trimming, filled potholes near curb while I edged the gardens

Bernie changed lightbulbs, furnace filter..we looked at her water feature she wanted working but it needed supplies so we didn’t do that.

She gave me a really big metal mirror, I will hang it on fence behind pond, am sure after a winter it will be rusted like all my other pieces.

There was a dwarf lilac tree, she didn’t like it where it was, dug it up and she told me to take it home so I added to the lilac secret garden area in hopes it helps fill in where the 50year+ lilacs are and some dying off..have to ask greg to come and cut a lot of dead limbs, was told if you cut down some lilacs down to ground they just might come back..will have to research that.

She said best Mother’s Day ever

We had no contact with anyone else, didn’t stop for gas or something to eat. But I did
stopped on my way to Bernie’s at a nursery I usually buy from..they were closed but saw their door open, I climbed under ropes and asked her if I could buy a plant for mom, she was obliging, she put it out, told her to add the $50 plant I usually buy each year when I used interact and left, couldn’t resist..

Tired and sore, but beyond glad we did it, come Mother’s Day I’ll have no regrets of her being alone..

Before we left she was joking about if something happened to her what we would do with the $$$, I’m sure it will come back to bite me lol she said Bernie would use it on house, that I would buy an rev and travel, I jokingly said “well mom, you lived too long, I’m too old now to travel around!’ Let’s hope she took it jokingly..

Had hot bath, lots of food left over from last night so will warm one of the pieces for supper, rub myself down with ointment, take a sleeping pill and call it a day but not before I sweep what earth I dragged in from the gardens

Linda Kay you feeling better?
Dianne, how did the tests go?
Waving to all others

With my good chances of getting blood clots, I really don't like the odds of the vaccine.

Today was a good day - not too hot or cool, a bit of a breeze - so went out & did some planting & watering.

Betty, you and your brother did a lot for your mom. I know she appreciated it so much.
Hope your not hurting today.
Yes, I am feeling much better. Going to the quilt shop today. Just to see what's going on, and get out of the house.

Morning, been up since 5:30am,

Well that is a plus lindakay that you are feeling well enough to go to the fabric shop, just do not stay too long..

sore but not terribly, sun is shinning so I will take advantage of the day..hoping I can get the battery in the lawnmower without having the charge it, if so I will attach the trailer and try and clean a few spots under the cedars and cut dead branches from lilac trees..a man is coming at 9:30am to bring me a few samples of flooring to I can maybe pick from them..they deliver if I order.

Just finished dusting so will make a to go coffee, grab a jacket/gloves and start my day.. what are you up to today?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, so glad you are feeling better, please don't over do. I tried again to get you a banana plant but not having much luck. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, need to check into it more.

My goodness. And you tell me not to overdo.
I took it easy today, and enjoyed the day out.
Karen, don't worry about the plants.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do what I say not what I do...isn’t that an old adage?

Just have to move my wheelbarrel, don’t want it walking away, not that anything has ever gone missing then heading to bed but not before I cut a nice slice of cherry cheese cake to take with me..

Today I learned that alpaca manure doesn't need to mature. It can be used right away. Last year I saw a greenhouse with 10 ft tomato plants, and they were Producing! the owner of the alpaca farm attributes the manure. So, today I got a huge box of it and a large bag as well. I've got a rototiller, and will do my garden tomorrow (watching out for the onions that are coming back from last year).
I bought some tomato plants (they're 1 1/2ft tall! Early Girl, my favs) and 2 jalapeno & 2 bell pepper plants. Got some flowers too.
On Monday it's our friend Pat's 75 birthday, so we gals are getting together in my yard for cake & ice cream. It's only about 8 of the "regulars" that don't go much of anywhere, but we'll still "social distance" etc. I have about 15 chairs, benches, and a few tables, along with a gazebo (only covered on the top, no side, but it's hollow legs) and a 10ft umbrella. So if it's hot & sunny, they'll have somewhere to sit in the shade.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Your gazebo sounds wonderful!

Lately I've been waking up in my recliner about midnight to move myself to bed. Guess I had been find a way to get up and go to bedroom BEFORE I fall asleep!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I decided when I started getting tired early evening that I was far better to crawl into a comfy bed play scrabble on iPad and other games so that when I did fall asleep I was already in bed. Prior to that I would does off on the couch wake up and by the time I turned tv/lights off /washroom I was wide awake then couldn’t sleep

Susan, sure hope you have warm weather for your gathering And if it rains it sounds like you have things set up and the gazebo that they could still attend, if your garden not all planted I’m attaching a photo I thought was interesting for you

Interesting gardening idea.

Betty, I forgot to ask. Is the gray item your flooring? It's very pretty.

Everyone have a great day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone..sunshine day in my neighbourhood..

Missing Dianne, sure hope after getting her scan they didn’t keep her?? Glad if it’s what she needed though..prayers

Yes Lindakay, looking forward to getting it done..Jamie emailed me yesterday afternoon to say it will be in Monday and he will deliver.

Greg dropped over, knocked and knocked, woke me up,was 8am..he was starting to get worried when I hadnt answered the door.. Asked me if I was sick but I told him no I had worked outside for nine hours yesterday and was just so tired..got the speech of overdoing and hurting lol

Before taking my bath decided to get into the pond and put the spray unit back on, took the water pump to storage and turned water on..likely be filled by noon

Decided today id hoe The hosta gardens and maybe just Oreo by board that will go on easel ready to paint and do some sketching.. an easy day

See because of mother’s day there are 3 major stores with planters on sale..am sure not the greatest at $8-$10 and 2 for $25...will look if I go to town

Good morning everyone. dull gray here.

I have a concussion and was admonished by the NP for not doing something sooner. I could see her shaking her finger the way my sweet dad did when I did something wrong. I've been ordered to take it very easy for the next couple of weeks. Most of the bruising has disappeared but not the huge knot on my eyebrow. We'll have another virtual meeting next week.

My rhubarb has taken a hit but I hope it will rally. We had frost 1 night last week.

No wonder you slept in Betty.

The drug store I was going to go to get my vaccine has ran out of the first dose and don't know when they will get another lot. Sigh. I am basically house bound for another week so will worry about getting the vaccine then.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow Dianne, concussion is nothing to play with, so glad you went..a couple of weeks, my opinion and I have no medical experience but did have brain blood bleed and concussion when in Florida and fell off bike, still paying for it..like you didn’t go to hospital when I should have, so find a nice chair and rest, looking at the lake is so peaceful it’s all you need...hoping you can get vaccination soon.

I’m puttering in the gardens, few things need fixing and I’m trying..tummy says it’s hungry, decided I worked hard all week that maybe I’d get fish chips for supper because I serve it.
