Sun is rising, will be a gorgeous day, can you imagine Wednesday we will almost be at 50..
Pat, those poor kids, seems they can’t catch a break.grrr have had window chips before, remember one vehicle I only had a few months, insurance (without a claim) had me go for repair, they did a plug and other repairs and you couldn’t find it. We cannot pick anything out of the dump site location here..they feel too many would in search of treasure.
Sharon, Cookstown had an entire community roadside treasures day, I’ve never been..it seems here that a lot of people put articles to roadside and they are picked up quickly, even articles .
I wish I could grow plants from seeds, plants here are so expensive. A friend Ann grows inside all year round, her hubby makes art out of driftwood and tree limbs, last year I bought the A frame out of twigs, never year he comes up with new projects..last year almost all was sold, think I’ll call her and ask she put me on a call list,
Pretty soon Sharon you will be able to sit and enjoy
Plumera’s are annuals?
Darlene and John are have Pettie groomed by Wanneta at 9 so they will come and visit while Pettie get done.
I was up at 5, housework’s done and made cookies..Sharon is dropping off her penguin quilt, she dreads hand sewing the border as her hands shake so much so I told her to have binding sewn on and I’ll do it for her..
Also want to go town, have a few errands, so my day will be a busy one
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Spring is on its way, come sit awhile and chat..newcomers always welcome!
Cookie baking would be beyond my control right now!! When I worked with the girls on the cake decorating class, washing my hands over and over. I was afraid one little lick of my fingers and that would be all she wrote!! I want so badly to kick the sugar addiction. The cravings are not so bad now. I know I should also go to drinking just fruit infused water rather than any artificial sweetener in diet pop or drink mixes. My compromise is to mix ONE drink packet that is meant to flavor 16f oz & instead use it to flavor over 36 ozs. I also mix in my soluble fiber.
Adam and Andrea have had some tough breaks. Sometimes a deer fatality is also a human fatality as they go thru the windshield. So, it could have been sooooo much worse. Adam picked up the deer and processed the meat last night. Made for a long night, loss of wages and the cost of repairs AGAIN.
77 and help in the garden? How could life be better than that!!! You rock Sharon!
Sharon wins the energizer bunny award..also envy her her re weather..
Speaking if weather, what are your temps in California Liz??
Just 5pm and I have the tub filled and ready for hot bath, then bed...so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open.
Was up extremely early, Darlene and John came., lovely visit.,gave me a card wIth $100 us and note saying it will help me out on my first trip to Joann’s..two cards in the mail, Linda had $50 in it, told me to hit a fabric shop..the other from Ann had $50.00, spoilt lady.
Went to midland and exchanged the iPad cover for another that fit.hard covered.. when I left I thought I’d get Chinese food for supper, as it turns out town was crazy so decided I would just pick up McDonald cheeseburgers, filled the tummy..had a few errands at the far end of town and thought I’d save them for another day. Also wanted baby wool to knit a baby set, nope, no wool.
Off for my bath and likely beddy byes
Betty, Plumeria grow is high humidity areas, like Hawaii. Crazy gardener like me, grow them during the summer and when the nights get below 45 degrees, they go into the garage for winter. Usually planted into the ground in a pot. They do well in California near the ocean but Las Vegas and Phoenix have many crazy gardeners that attempt to grow them. They call it zone pushing.
I did get my turnips and lettuce planted today. Gave the dogs their weekly bath and had a Face time first birthday celebration for Eloise Grace's first birthday. All she wanted to do with the cake was throw it on the floor. Eloise Grace does not eat many sweets, her parents rule, so she looked like she thought it was a strange taste.
Pat,I have given up sugar for Keto but I have not given up diet soda. And it has nt seemed to cause a problem. I may have lost weight slower, but I wasn't in hurry anyway. And thanks for the 77, I am 78 and will be 79 in August. But I do not think I am 78 and that is what matters. My sister went on Keto, after I lost weight. She kept saying it doesn't taste like whatever. I told her, it will taste like what your mind thinks it will taste like.
No Susan again. Hoping for the best. Karen, how are you doing.
You all have a great evening and a good Sunday morning. Hugs, Sharon
I worry about Susan. I am concerned that if she made choices that she thinks we will not "approve" of, she will withdraw. I hope that is not the case. It is her life, she needs to make her own decisions. Friends do not always agree, but the choices remain HER's to make. I have lived thru this personally AND professionally. It's never a good idea to get too excited about someone's choice, it can change, leaving someone embarrassed or disappointed. I hope Susan knows we love her and support her, whatever choices she makes.
My neighbor boys moved the "new" teacher desk into place in my sewing room. Something definitely needs to be moved. The layout I have currently won't work. The desk is so wide, it makes the walk way too narrow. The desk looks so funny. I lowered it by about 4 inches to make it comfortable for me work at with the embroidery machine. Here's this HUGE desk, squatting on the floor! 60 x 30 and only about 26 inches tall.
Pat, that about how I feel about my hill. But I am just hiding and watching it grow. But yours will not get any bigger. LOL.
I feel the same about Susan. Don't hide from us if you go back to Bob. That would be great news. Just concerned because we do not want him to hurt you again. But it is your life and we are only hear to listen.
Hugs, Sharon
Morning everyone, -17c this morning, best place to be is inside..
Sharon and Pat, you both have a way with words, as well I would hate to think any of my words would stop Susan from posting..we get so protective of our family here..am sure Susan has chosen the bath she thinks is best for her..looking for you to post and tell us about your day.. I should buy some of those packets that go in water and see if it would encourage me to drink water, as you know if I drank a couple of glasses a year that would be exaggerating..been trying to reach doctors office, recording says a death 8n family so will try again Tuesday, the sulfur rotten egg smell after I’ve been to washroom smell up the house, need to start drinking water so that will be my next purchases, hmm do they sell in aisle where coolade is found or do they even sell coolade?
Sharon bet there is no room for your car when weather is below 45f
Joanne went on Leto diet and lost over 40 lbs, since Covid hit she gained some back but has decided to go back on it..I’m 20lbs overweight, charts say I should be 105 but when I’m at that weight (haven’t been so in decades) I look like I was deadly ill.
I was thinking of looking for the cabbage soup diet, maybe I could try that,,wIth spring and garden work coming up that usually helps shed a few pounds. Smiled when you said you didn’t feel your age, as long as I’m not near a mirror I think 8m young, however bones don’t think so..right now no hip or much shoulder pain..those needles do work and with not shovelling much these past weeks it has helped, likely need another set before gardening season.. at night you must totally be exhausted, but a good exhausted. Bet you and your sister are anxious to finally be able to travel.
Ready to make a coffee and head downstairs, with having a normal birthday week with visitors in and out , few trips to town, the quietness today makes me was..perhaps if I clean downstairs and get into some project it will pass the day, Sunday’s are always the hardest to get through.
Pat I was thinking of changing my craft room back to the way it was a few years ago but if I remember correctly it meant like you that I had less speace in some areas and was bumping into tables a lot..I always said I’d like to have built in narrow counter areas basically just fitting machines on them what I have now is 6 tables 4’x6’ then the area for the quilting frame... think the more we have the more we want..am sure the desk will shortly come out and something more efficient to your needs replacing it.
Good morning everyone.
Pat, sorry to hear about the vehicle damage. Glad to hear no one was hurt.
Betty, those quilts are beautiful.
Sharon, I envy your gardens. Wish we had decent soil for gardens. I have no choice but to grow things in pots or raised beds. Growing in pots is almost impossible, because they need constant watering in this heat.
Praying we get an update from Susan today. We all worry when one of us doesn't post for awhile.
Linda, if I had to rely on pots I would I get one of those automated pot waterers. Since 1981 I have not been without some kind of flowers! Even in an apartment I had a couple of whiskey barrel planters. We get temperatures over a 100 for stretches at a time so I know what you mean about watering constantly.
I am praying Susan is Ok and will be posting soon.
We'd like to plant more here but with this darned ole red clay, it's like digging in bricks. We had a lot of mulch put in for a front flower bed and I guess that will have to do us. We tried a veggie garden here first summer and it was a bust for all it was so costy to do. We do have nice farm markets near by so will shop there for less. Definitely less work. It's enough to keep the bed out front reasonably weed free.
Well Linda Kay your raised rose gardens are beautiful.
Karen, remember when a took the seniors to Nashville in rv and were in Tennessee and stopped at a restaurant enroute and it was raining, had to have the rugs cleaned 2-3 times because of clay colour.,don’t even think they ever came clean..isn’t your soil great for potatoes.
Pat hard to think of you without flowers..
Glad we don’t get all of your temps
SIL fell downstairs last night, 6 stitches on back of head, arm in cast, going to surgeon on Tuesday to see if it needs surgery
Spoke with her then mom, mom has a terrible cold but she still pushes herself to do things.
I’m already in bed, keep thinking a knock at door from neighbour shortly complaining about how loud my tv is..can’t stand amber alert play8mg in my head, tv so loud helps
I doubt you could get the potatoes out if they did grow here. That clay really does get as hard as a brick. Walt had to have help digging a place for Molly.
Wow,know irs Georgia clay, didn’t realize your ground was as bad
Betty, I have a three car garage, so the third garage area is where all of the zone pushing plants stay during the winter. I will take a photo so you can see the winter mess.
My DGS called me today from Hawaii. He is in his Jr. year of college. Tough place to go to college. His birthday is tomorrow. He will be 23. He is a tall, handsome, sweet young man. He goes to BYU Hawaii. He was dating, his description, a very beautiful young lady. After 5 dates, he decided she was beautiful but not to smart. He said he could not see talking to her for the rest of his life because he had to carry the conversation. Then I talked to him a few weeks ago about adopting a nerd/dweeb. He lives in a house with 16 other young men, including the owner of the home. I asked him if he had any young men in the group that just didn't fit in. He said, yes two. I told him it was his duty to bring those two guys into the group and become friends. I told him, you will change those young men's life by doing that. So he has been working on that plan for two weeks and he said he is totally amazed how the two guys have changed, happier and joins the group regularly now. I told him I was proud that he was attempting and he said it was his and my secret but some of the other roommates are also joining in and inviting the two to participate. Then he told me how smart I was and so kind. I told him those things come with age.
Karen, that ground sounds terrible. Unless you want to make some bricks. But you can grow potatoes in a whiskey barrel or grow bag. Sounds like you need to make a few raised beds. My son lives in Spokane and his soil is like slate. I tried to dig a hole and it was just layers of slate.
Linda, I either have raised beds or pots. All of my pots are on automatic irrigation. If not, loss of watering one day is an invitation to a disaster. Many of my flower areas in the front are just beds, surrounded by very large boulders and then filled in with compost and soil. Just another very large pot. Some of the boulders are buried over 2 feet. Fell sorry for anyone that buys my home when I decide to sell and they want to change the front landscape. Many of those boulders were moved from the flatbed by a crane.
I wanted to send that so I didn't lose it. My week has me doing many different things. Monday, gardening, Tuesday, second vaccine, Wednesday, manicure and pedicure, Thursday walk with property management and landscape crew on the greenbelt gardening and Friday, Dr. appointment on my blood test results. They all bunched up, not planned. But it is going to be windy and cooler temps, in the 50s, so not a big deal.
Betty, hope your SIL is OK with her fall.
Hugs to you all. Have a great evening and a wonderful Monday morning.
The photos are two flowering plants that transferred to my property, probably by 4" potted plants propagated in California. First one is a bulb that smells like onion/garlic bulb. Second is sour grass. Oxalis. They both only show up and bloom during the winter. As soon as the heat hits, they totally disappear. I have pink oxalis that bloom all winter. They stay above the ground during the winter but do not bloom like these two. They are both invasive, but I feel because hey totally disappear during the spring and summer, no big deal.
I actually have a half barrel that I usually plant grape tomatoes in. It's on the upper deck just outside the kitchen door so a handy place to grab a handful for dinner or a snack.
Jess and Bryan are thinking maybe we should move it to under Sammi's window and plant the Prickly pear cactus in it. Thinking that would discourage any would be hanky panky. Since she's pretty and a freshman in high school this year. LOLOL

Boy, I remember trying to dig out all the cactus at a house we rented right after my Ex graduated and we returned to Tri-Cities. Nasty stuff. We do have native cactus in my area. It's VERY low growing and quite a hazard horse backing riding (or 4-wheeling) because it is not obvious.
Was going to say good morning but it’s afternoon already..just going to eat, didn’t have breakfast so I imagine it will be supper as well.
Don’t know why I pressed ‘send’ 😉
Susan, drop in even if it’s with a ‘hi’ so we know you are ok..
Guess we all have our own problems with weather and gardening..
I remember in the flower bed facing the lake I had 3 yucca plants, Lordy they not only grew quickly but had to empty the flower bed in order to get them out and still somehow each spring they showed their little heads
Sharon bought a 3’ extension for her quilting frame so I went with her and picked it up, couldn’t come home with nothing so I bought 2 yds 118cm wide white/grey brocade, for backing of a wedding quilt $39.98 + tax and baby wool, a container of crazy clips (50) , pkgs of quality t-towels white with pink stripes so I can embroider something Easter on it, a few other household supplies and there went $200..would have been cheaper not to go for a ride.
Now to decide if I want to crochet or knit something for the baby
Need a nap, sun coming through the window in making me tired
"Cheaper not to go for the ride", BOY DO I HEAR YOU!! Lol. Ooooo the pink striped t-towels are calling my name. Only I want a big PINK rose embroidered on it.
So, I finally started working on my BOM embroidery blocks last night. First 3 blocks (a sample practice one & 2 out of the 4 I needed for the exchange). THEN, I was well into the 3rd one and something went haywire and it stitched in crazy location. Thank goodness it was not one of the colors that had 10,000 stitches. I have picked them out and Marie & I are going to see if I can salvage the block.
I had listed a free standing cabinet on Buy Nothing and was stood up twice. Last night I put it for SALE on Marketplace. It is sold and is GONE. Sad that it was easier to sell than it was to get rid of FREE!!!
Still no Susan, big sigh
Isn’t that the craziest thing, maybe they think the only thing someone would give for free is garbage, is that the cupboard, Drats if I lived closer it would find a home with me.
Yep, these come for a ride and keep me company ends up costing $$$
Lordy almost 8 and I am still up sat all aft/eve and hand sewed binding on Sharons quilt,
Grrr amber alert is doing me in
I had a good day in the garden. I got to one spider plant even though I planned on doing all four. I discovered it was not the cold that bit the plant. The irrigation line had been moved. It was bone dry. So the entire bed was dry, so I worked on the irrigation and cleaned the bed. Then I raked the crushed granite that is in the area where the sumac trees were. Tomorrow I will place some mulch in the bed. I have an appointment for my second vaccine at 2pm. Had my window cleaned today and tipped the worker and gave him my cutters and he trimmed some vine growing close to some of my windows.
Weather today was reasonable but breezy. My glass patio tables in the back were covered with green pollen. I got my battery operated blower and aimed it toward the furniture and was amazed how much dust blew off.
Pat, at least your machine did not jump off the material and sew you onto the wall. Amazing you couldn't give it away so you had to sell it. Show you how strange our lives are right now.
Betty I am with you on that. My daughter doing my Costco shopping probably saves me $100 a week from compulsive purchases.
I had to put my garbage out and park my car in the street. But I had to wait until the irrigation system was done with it's cycle. Then I had to feed the dogs, take my shower and put a load of clothes in the washer.
Betty is probably already asleep. Good morning everyone. I will check in tomorrow after my second vaccine shot.
Susan, check in and let us know you are OK
Yes, that was a picture of the cabinet. First person who actually showed up bought it. GONE and now I have a little money in my pocket for my trouble.
I am constantly amazed that people will say "Interested, or "pick me!" when giving something away and then not show up to get it. I honestly try to GO as soon as someone tells me if I am offered a donated item.
when I gift thru "Buy Nothing", I generally get a whole table of stuff ready, let people know it's available and let them come when they want, donate what does not get taken.
I got the green "wild stitches" picked out and was able to get the pattern back on track and finish the block. I now have 4 for 4 done until our next meeting.
Sharon, sounds like you had full glorious day of gardening again!!! Lucky you!
Pat, just remind me when it is August and 114 degrees.
Hi - sorry that I haven't been checking in - been SO busy being with Bob.
Things are better now. He's being very attentive, and we go everywhere together. The other day he tried to register the gar she gave him "in lieu of payment" for the work he'd done for her, and had gotten the car about a month ago. The bill of sale wasn't properly filled out. and had to be redone & witnessed. She came to our yard, I witnessed than told her "No more Contact". She tried to go on about how she was our friend in the beginning, but I told her "you two gave me an STD in the Fall. Goodbye!" I wouldn't be nasty, just wouldn't let her say anything, but kept repeating "goodbye".
Bob & I are re-discovering that we used to enjoy being together all the time, and I've stepped away from the computer a lot.
Again, sorry that I haven't been online much, but things are going well. btw - we are Not getting eggs for her. Told him - she knows where the farm is, has her own car, and is capable of getting them herself.
😉
Good morning everyone.
Betty, sorry to hear about your SIL. Praying she is doing ok.
Susan, thanks for checking in. Glad to hear you are standing your ground, and working things out with Bob.
I went to San Antonio yesterday for doctors appointments. Heart doctor visit went well. I don't need to go back unless I need too. Then I had my mammogram. I hate getting that done. I have never had one hurt, as bad as yesterday's test.
Good morning. I keep losing this thread. Even though I have Watch it doesn't come up and I have to seek and find.
Oh Betty I hope your SIL is doing well.
Great news from the heart doc LK.
(((Susan))) I'm glad you checked in - we all miss you and worry.
The TH and I have had limited walks as it is still icy. The sun melts some of the ice but then it is cold overnight and the lane freezes back up.
Kai is driving Chaos and I crazy. He's a handful. He's like the old saying "when he is good he is very very good but when he is bad he is awful. It's a bonus that we have so much land to walk on. But sometimes when I bring the TH back from a walk Kai is all wired up.
All those aches and pains I had have settled in my right shoulder. At times rather than ache the shoulder feels like an electrical pulse is throbbing through it. If it is no better by next week I will call my doctor. She has well over 500 patients under her care so I hate to bother her.
Pat I think you could give Lara on GMA a run for her money when it comes to but things and fix them up. I think she has her own show about flea marketing.
Betty like you I will go out only when necessary. You have your crafts and I have the woods - the only 2 things that are keeping us sane.
Stay safe and well.
thank you all, for caring. Bob & I are being loving & attentive to each other. After 22 years, I was not giving up on the man I love. He's realized that too. We have history together & as he wants to work on it, I will let him but I will too - together. I guess it's easy to fall into getting caught up in our other parts of our lives, and this year hasn't been easy on anyone. That's not to say I'm at fault here - I am definitely the victim, but won't be re-victimized. I have a counselling session on Fri March 26th. "whatever doesn't kill us, makes us stronger" and I feel stronger. God has my back.
Susan, I’m glad you posted, was a worry..glad that you’ve set out boundaries, setting them up so that you both can live with them will make for a happy home.
Oh happy days, made it in before noon, did type a post early early this morning but I must have dosed off and forgot to press send...what a gorgeous day out there(45F) and in the 50’s for a bit but with rain, will be watching for flooding..have front door open, what a difference in light in the living room.
Like you Dianne not the t8me to be out walking, glare ice, next few days should fix that..Ziffy is in and out, loving listening the the birds sing, ok as long as he doesn’t catch one.
Good new Lindakay on your heart results, takes a weight off your shoulders. Yes, must have been a man that developed mammograms, think a woman should redesign a new method but pain is worth it if they catch something in early stages.
As for Kim she is disappointed, today she was to go to specialist but they changed it until tomorrow, she is anxious to find out if she need surgery. Mike my brother and 2 of their neighbour are having some sort of metal gate that matches the railing, 14 steps and she fell down each has them all thinking a gate would take some of the worry away.
I sure if I mentioned, I completed hand sewing bind8mg on sharon’s Penguin quilt last night, thought I’d be right at a project of my own this morning but not..got the recycle to the roadside, peeled and cooked apples and thinking of making something for tonight desert, liking Tuesday’s knowing greg/Mel will come for supper..
Did measuring of living room, dining room, hallway, going to have the floors redone while Brian sharon’s Son is up, he has work that likely will last for a month then will do a few things here, I’ve been checking and see a few sales on flooring so maybe friday I’ll go have a look
Yes Dianne it’s a blessing we have something to occupy ourselves, soon it will be gardens then I’ll be happy
Am sure I posted Pat, could be on the post I screwed up that wish I had had the opportunity to get that cupboard, was in great shape
Best I check on my apples cooking before I burn them
Good to see you back Susan.
Sharon, when it's 114 you won't be OUTSIDE working in the garden LOL but your work now in this glorious weather will still be evident!
I don't know who Lara on GMA is.
I am behind in getting my mammogram, I have had nothing but a mess with my health insurance so have been reluctant to have any services. Hopefully will have it all straightened out soon.
Marie & I are headed to Costco today, she needs new tires.
Haven't had any problems with DG.
Maybe just a glitch
I got them all Betty and for the first time in over a week I didn't have to seek and find this thread.
Pat for the life of me I can't remember Lara's last name. She does entertainment reporting along with her dog Reba. I watch GMA from 7 am - 9 am most days. I enjoy George Stephanopolus' quick wit .
Happy to read your post Susan.
Betty when I first saw your photo I thought it was a rack of ribs....lol
I just checked in before I leave for my second vaccine.
Susan, glad you and Bob are working things out. 20+ years is something to fight for. We do have a tendency to get lazy with our relationships and someone is always there to pick up the slack.
Pat, I thought of you when I was walking the dogs this morning. Today is bulk day and there is a very large walnut headboard two houses down that would make a beautiful indoor bench. Right up your alley. I love to go to Costco. They have a new mixed sprouted seeds. Watermelon, pumpkin and third seed I cannot remember. It is so good and low in carbs.
Dummy me, I had my windows cleaned yesterday and today they are here to power wash and reseal the driveway and patio. They will probably get the french door windows all dirty that are on the patio. Grrrrr.
I have cancelled my garden helper for this week. Suppose to rain tomorrow and with guys here sealing concrete, it will be difficult to get around them to garden. I told him we would do two days next week. After this week, I have no appointments for 3 weeks. That is like a vacation to me.
I have not received that notice Betty.
Dianne, I do not know how you do it My two 20 pound dogs wear me out. We have a new dog in the neighborhood. A dark brown giant Schnauzer. Born in Sweden, trained in Germany, speaks German and 3 years old and a beautiful and very well behaved dog.
I used to out off my mammogram until I had a friend in her 80s get breast cancer. I thought after a certain age we would be exempt but I guess not.
Betty, so sorry about your SIL. 14 stairs is a lot of stairs. How is a gate going to help with falling? I do not go upstairs except when there is someone here.
I will check in this evening to see how you all did today. Hugs, Sharon
Prayers please,
My girlfriend Helene who used to sew with me every week is in hospital on ventilator..she had her 2 girls, father in law (90) mother in law (88) over for a celebration for his 90th
Only 2 girls didn’t get it..thankfully
I never got that notice either. Maybe it was a temporary outage on DG.
