I used my serger a lot when my focus was clothing, in fact I have two just the same because I worried about losing my first one and I liked it so much. Only took it for service once and then it was a simple adjustment. Repairman was quite snotty because it was such an old machine. I almost never use it anymore unless for a repair...they are awesome for shortening pants.
It costs nothing to keep and probably has no sale value to speak of so...…
I'd really like to find an embroidery machine. I don't need an expensive one, I mainly want to make quilt labels. The one I have only has a 4 x 4 hoop so not big enough, other than that it works good.

Well (blush) I have 2 extra that are mine, 1 of my sisters. I have an OLD Juki serger that I love but it is SERIOUSLY NASTY to rethread. I mean I set it on my lap, turn it on side and swear a LOT. Then I have a Singer that is "OK" but when I got talked into my Ovation, it is not necessary. My sister has 1 serger (Singer identical to mine) here she is not using! ONE extra is OK, but I don't need 2 extra here!
I also have an old Viking sewing machine that is wore out. The feed dogs are wore out and that is over $300 to replace! I would like to replace it with a HEAVY duty something for when I sew something I don't want to sew on my Designer 1 embroidery machine.
Beautiful design Betty.
Pat, maybe you can find a quilting group, or someone at. A church that can use them.
That's a good idea, Linda Kay! Surely there's a church that could use it, or a quilting group!
Betty - that design is so sweet!
I'm finished doing prayer shawls for the moment.
I got our house all un-decorated, now to put all the stuff in boxes! Right now, I'm taking a break, and it's all over our coffe table, dining table, and a long counter. Put the large stuff away, like the 2 trees and a lot of garlands/wall stuff & baskets, but the tiny stuff, and the delicate stuff still needs packing away. I'm sitting because my hee's acting up.
Really Pat? that is excessive for replacing the feed dogs. My Bernina repair person charged $15, plus $20 for the part. It's really a quick process.
My old sergers are Singers and are dead simple to thread. The pathways are color coded for each thread. You can also cut the thread at the top, loosen the tension, tie the new thread to the old thread and run the machine until the thread is at the needles. Reset the tension and you are ready to go.
Morning all, cool but spring like, more like a march day.
Was proud of myself Friday, spent $40 groceries..yikes $100 today but that included 2 pillows and apkgog space bags for Xmas quilts, ran out.hadto take Valentine’s Day pieces out just to have enough.
That is cheap Karen, think they charge a base fee omg $50 just to go over the machine then fees thereafter.
Bad day for me re this old hip, woke up paining so using chair lift.
Shopping done, housework done, stew cooked from yesterday so nothing to do but play or rest, not sure which today.
