I still can't believe it here in SE Michigan Zone 6 I still have gerinums and Roses blooming.
Here in our little micro climate we have not had a killing frost yet let alone any snow.
Forecast for the coming week in for mid to uppper 40's.
Think I can make it to Christmas with flowers blooming?
Paul

Crestedchick - this is weird, still snowless here and the daisies are still going in spite of the hard freeze the other night. My cerinthe bloomed for the first time this week...
Scabiousa has started blooming again! I picked some to bring in the house. Pansys and my bacopia is beautiful. It is blooming better now then when it was warm.........
I LOVE THIS!
Kathleen, this is the weirdest winter so far.Almost all that nasty stuff is gone, some stuff still looks alive.Suppose to be in the upper 40's mid 50's the rest of the week and 55 on saturday .Why would the cerinthe wait till now???Did the snow you got before trigger it??
LOL, it didn't get planted until August and then it was an accident - I dropped a seed packet that I was taking out to the studio. I thought, ah well, some nice green for the fall, and now, it's blooming, silly stuff. Three hard frosts in a row - I'll see if anything is left when the sun comes up. Warm enough here yesterday to run around with just a heavy flannel shirt...and the other necessary coverings!!
well it's now December 23rd and I have the following
Marguerites
Osteospermums
Alstroemerias
hardy geraniums
passionflower - 1 bloom
Mark
Dec 23rd and my Geranium is still blooming like crazy.
The last daisies stick up above the snow and are glazed with ice from the rain yesterday. under the snow, the hellebores bloom on and there are pansies and johnny jump ups waiting for a sunny day to pop out. Christmas Eve is here and mostly white with the reminders of my winter flowers tucked up for now. Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Well, we finally got a killing freeze in the panhandle of Florida on Christmas night and last night. Still some few roses look decent. The princess flower isn't a total goner, but I don't know if it will bloom anymore. Mexican petunias about the same I think. Camillia okay. Everything else is shot for now. Two days ago everything was beautiful and blooming, now it's brown and ugly. Yuck!
Kathleen, did you get nailed by the lake effect??We got NOTHING!!I can't beleive it.But we did get the cold.On Christmas day I still had snapdragons blooming, but the cold snap ended that.We are suppose to get lake effect this weekend.I can do without it!We have 10 drivers stuck in Buffalo, they are hoping they can get them out of there, but the thruway has to open first.
We've missed it, too! Hard to believe - we've only had about 6 inches. It's supposed to slide down this way over the weekend, but so far only the lake plain is getting it. I will not hold my breath, but if it doesn't get here, that's fine by me! I have a friend in South Buffalo who's trapped in her house, but she says she has lots of food water and wine, so she's ok.
Snow - Yuck It's pretty in pictures, except the ones on TV with all the wrecks and people freezing to death. I just came in from planting 100 Crocus bulbs that I got for Christmas and almost dug up some with buds on them!! And the Hellebores is starting to bloom and would you believe I still have purple Scabiosa and pink yarrow blooming!!! We had a couple of freezing nights this week, but still they perserveer.
