I grew up in the Dairy Capital of Canada so curds and whey made sense to me even as a toddler.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?visit with friends old and new..come chat with us..
And how this woman loves curd.
Wind and lower temperatures started this afternoon. Roses got trimmed and got nice bouquet for the kitchen. Now the landscape cleanup guys come Monday to trim back and rake up a lot of grasses. I will also have them thin them out.
I picked some oranges ths afternoon. Going to make hot orange juice tomorrow for breakfast.
I woke up with a red rash over the majority of my face. There is a lot around my left eye.
Had my hair cut and dyed and that is the only thing different in my life. Kinda looks like measles.
Anyway, Vern is having a problem with his stomach so I came on here to check that out an dropped over to say high. Hugs.
Morning everyone, 39 here today with no snow forecasted so I think I might take a run to cookstown, maybe even drop in to the garden gallery, always a fun spring thing to do.
Curds and whey..lol. Not a fan of cheese so never tasted curds
Nor have I sharon ever tasted hot orange juice???
Love curd. You can still get it before it is chilled at the local cheese factory. The Ont gov't in all of its wisdom has legislated curd must be kept chilled. That takes away the squeak which is half the fun of eating curd.
Like Betty I have never heard or tasted hot orange juice. Need to look that up.
Have the radio on listening for the weather. I rarely use the radio as I love my tunes so much but sometimes I need to hear local news and weather. Usually the news I watch on TV is from Boston or TO and that's no help with my weather forecast.
Stay safe, well and warm everyone. Sharon your sleep angels found me for about 4 straight hours last night. Send them my way again tonight please.

Didn't sleep very well last night. We had a list full of running around to do, many stops a bit here and a bit there. Spent most of the afternoon and actually got a lot accomplished. Made our last stop Red Lobster as we had a gift Cert. Thinking it's why I didn't sleep we as we did over indulge and still brought enough home for today.
Betty - what a wonderful tribute to your Uncle Allan. How lovely they put in that he spent his last moments saying goodbye in such a loving way, and that he went peacefully.
I have fresh oranges still on the tree. So they are room temperature. I squeeze them with a lemon squeezer, just cut them into smaller pieces, and when cup is 85 percent full I add boiling water. Doesn't take much water to heat it up.
It was 71 degrees yesterday and the high today will be in the low 50s. We are suppose to get rain but looks like snow clouds. A little windy but not has bad as they predicted. Our low is now projected for 36 degrees. Moved up from 30.
Gardener came by yesterday and pruned back all of my roses. Time of year in the desert to trim, spray with dormant spray and then feed in mid February.
Vern and I are finally over whatever we had.
Karen, I try to do everything I need to do on my one trip out a week. I buy some things on Amazon because it is easier than leaving the house. My daughter makes my Costco run. Saves me a lot of money because I do not buy any instant gratification items.
Karen and Dianne, I am sending sleep angels your way.
Betty, how are you feeling?
The rash on my face was really bad this morning. Started when I got the cold. Yesterday you could see it under the skin, very lightly. This morning it had surfaced and looked red and mad. It doesn't hurt or itch but does not look good.
First and third photos are of my face on each side near the cheek bone. Middle photo is the last bouquet of roses left in the garden before trimming.
No help on Saturday night so Vern gets to stay up late. I am going to make asparagus soup for dinner. Maybe cornbread or biscuits.
Sharon - I know you said it doesn't hurt or itch, but it sure looks like it would! Is there swelling with it too?
Those roses look gorgeous! Yes, in your end of the world you would be still pruning and trimming - very nice!!
No swelling. My son was skiing today and he go my photos and text when he got off the mountain. His first question was it on both sides of my face. He thought shingles but it is only on one side of the body. He said probably a virus left over from what ever Vern and I had.
Susan, you guys can give me a bad time when we are 115 degrees and you guys are in the 80s.
ah - we don't normally get in the 80's here - maybe mid 70's is the best. We're in the shaddow of the mountains (sort of) but we certainly don't have the hot sun I was used to in the prairies. Once the sun goes down it gets cool, very cool, at night.
Oh my Sharon, I don't know how the rash can look so angry and not be painful, glad it's not.
My great Uncle in Orlando had an orange tree in his yard that had the ugliest gnarly oranges on it. They had a gazillion seeds but made great gobs of the sweetest juice you ever tasted. I asked what kind they were and he said just an old juice orange. Probably like a lot of our fruits they were an heirloom variety that has had the best part bred away. He had a grapefruit tree too, not something I like but hubby said they were very good.
Morning all, another milder day, overcast though
Calling for freezing rain next few days..yuk
Omg Sharon, get yourself to the doctor, that looks terrible, lucky you aren’t in mega pain.
Stayed in bed til 9:30 this morning, there goes 1/2 of my day lol
Will stay in my Jammie’s but will try to make my way downstairs.
Morning everyone.
Sharon, I agree, go to urgent care and get it looked after please. Love your roses.
My neighbor has orange trees, but they are so sour.
Sharon I echo everyone get your self to urgent care. I had the shingles shot... it was only $40 and well worth it. So do you have a Tele Medical Line you can call ? We have something like that here and don't have to venture out
Someone went through the ice yesterday. He was spudding a hole. The good thing was he was close to shore so people were able to get him out quickly. No one should have been on that ice yesterday but there was a fishing derby on.
The TH are full of P and V today having a grand time racing around I'm trying to purge and clean closets and they have another idea.
Stay safe, warm and well everyone.
Dianne and her TH
Dianne, they never seem to learn do they???
I’m more concerned about the heroes who go out to save them and put themselves in harms way.
You are ambitious Dianne, please send me some of your energy, I’m still on the couch..
Sun was out earlier and it was so toasty but temps are dropp8ng so had to turn furnace back on..will be interesting how much my hydro and gas bill will be this month.
Ziggy is full of vim and vinegar as well, perhaps they know nicer weather on its way.
Oh Betty I am not making too much progress. I am trying to follow the idea if I haven't used it in a few months it goes. I keep thinking well I might need that. Have 2 bread makers - have never used 1 of them. What to do, what to do ? I expended my energy for today about an hour again. Might throw in some laundry ....
The TH are fed and have settled down. Guess they are tuckered out.Peace 'resounds' through the house.
Saw an online news article that 2 guys out on their sleds went through the ice - Sturgeon Lake way.... 1 missing, 1 taken to hospital. I too always worry about the first responders. We are a volunteer fire department and all of these guys have families to go home to. A big thing here is the guys try and jump open water. Of course there are some who don't make the jump. A lot of them get together after dark to have their fun. Idiots!!!
I'll be looking for your sleep angels Sharon.

Pretty much a lazy day today. Moved the rest of my stuff downstairs and figured out where to put it all. When I got that done and the Sunday paper read, I took a shower but just got into a clean pair of jammies instead of dressing, had no plans to leave the house. We even got pizza for dinner. Local place I didn't used to like their pizza because the sauce was too spicy for me. They have a new one on the menu called Windy City. No sauce..It has garlic butter, a layer of Mozzarella, tow toppings of choice, topped off with more mozzarella, diced tomatoes, italian spices and parmesan. It has become our new favorite plus just around the corner. Much better than having to run to town.
Back to sewing tomorrow, supposed to be a rainy day.
Sharon, that looks ever so much better. Yes, more like a bruise and not so wicked looking.
lol crazy Amaryllis - in January?
I made a "MacKenzie" calendar today. My printer (Brother) has a Creative website, and there's all kinds of crafts I can do on it, including making my own calendar. Put all kinds of Scottish pictures on it, including our crests & tartans, plus some RB pics. I like it. Now, to find our stapler.........
Morning all.
I've been up for about an hour making sure I am ready for the loss of power. Everything is charged up and the generator is ready to be fired up if needed. Maybe we will luck out and it will be rain rather then the freezing type.
Keep sending those sleep angels Sharon. I slept straight through from 2:30 to 5 am. Missed ABC's News for Insomniacs .... will have to figured out how record it. The 2 anchors are off the charts bizzare and have me in stitches yet they can be serious when necessary.
Thinking of moving some furniture around today. I have 2 HUGE dog crates in the LR but might move them to the den.. Maybe then I will sit out there more.... I need lots of space and don't do well with cramped spaces.
Sharon your face does look better, Will be interested to hear how it looks and feels today
Make sure you do something nice for yourself today ladies.

Morning, mild out there but they say freezing rain today, like Dianne hoping it misses me.
Think I will follow suit likedianne and see if I can get the compressor going just incase loss of power as noted in the weather warning.
Sharon what an improvement, still it’s best to get checked out so you have an idea what may have caused it.
Susan it sounds like you had fun making your calendar, I had a computer program that did same and I’d make a calendar showing eventsmappts, birthdays etc but I haven’t made one since I have my iPad calendar.
Karen that pizza sounds yummy, don’t think we have it around here..likely I’d not order one as I like the sauce as long as not too much..they make an excellent pizza at the corner pizzeria, haven’t ordered one for a bit seeing as I’ve been getting Walmart Hawaiian and quite like it
What has happened to our debbie and Deb, hope all o.k.
Sharon, please ask sleep fairy to drop in here on her way to Dianne’s, spending half the night up makes for long night

~M~
Thank you Marilynne for posting Barb's obit.
Thanks for that link M.
I'm still here, lurking mostly. Just busy, and tired, and ended up with a really bad cold that I think is finally gone. Not up to doing much of anything, other than just work and dogs. The dog that I picked up in Colorado in Dec is doing fine, but she is so high energy, and in to everything. The others think she's great fun, but she's now spending my work hours crated, after she jumped through a window to get out in the yard with the other dogs. Broken glass everywhere, but not a scratch on her. It was on one of our below zero days, too. Still checking in, and following everyone's postings.
Deb
Sharon, You need to keep a close eye on that bite. My DH got bit by a spider years
ago, and the initial wound looked similar. Never hurt. But within a few days, the skin was a mess and he ended up with a drain in his arm and a big mess, out of work for 2 weeks. Docs looked at it and knew right away it was a spider bite (brown reculse) and took action.
I had a really nice weekend. DH and I celebrated Anniversary. Went to the Fighter Lakes/Ithaca area and saw a few waterfalls. Love taking pictures but there was just too much ice and lack of color for me to get happy about that aspect. BUT over all day was great.
Rain and heavy fog here. Mid 30s I think
Have a safe day
Debbie
Thanks for posting info for Barb "M". How are things going for all of you?
Oh Deb, I bet you freaked when the dog went through the window! I would keep him in the crate too!
Thanks “M” for the Barb’s obit link, will makenmy way there shortly..
Deb, you did so much travelling to,so likely take you a bit to recoup energy. Lordy, that is 7nusual to jump through pane of glass isn’t it?
Debbie pouring rain here, snowmobilers aren’t happy I’m sure..sure hope when nightfall’s and temps drop we won’t have a skating rink.
did look at your photo’s, breathtaking..sure can tell you love taking them..you should make up a seasonal package into cards and sell them, know,I’d buy some. Told our Bev that is what she should have done with her floral photo’s but she didn’t.
Happy anniversary, glad you got to do something you enjoy.. I love the finger lakes, beautiful area..took side ride heading to Florida one Christmas, ended up in mountains in a blizzard, thank god I had a co-pilot or I’d still be there.
Almost have block 1 done, will work on 2nd tomorrow then get them jilted..block 3 won’t be ready till end of February.
Freezing rain here... sure glad I don't have to go out. Will stay in tomorrow too as it is calling for more of the same through the night and into tomorrow.
We were going to have our widow's turkey dinner today but moved it to Wed. There is only 3 of us - I am the youngest by far and the one who has been widowed the longest.
Deb my Duke would do the same thing - boom right through the window. Thank goodness she wasn't hurt. I hope you DD made it through the holiday season without too much angst. Hard on her for sure.
Geeze Betty you end up in the mountains in a blizzard and in a corn field with Debbie.
So glad you got out to take some photos Debbie. You really should consider setting up a small business selling your photos. I always buy cards that photographers put their photos on. I tend to really load up when I find cards I like.
Have no idea what to have for dinner. Slim pickings in the fridge.
Stay safe, well and warm everyone
Dianne
We also had freezing rain today, good day to stay in and sew. I have two quilt tops done now and will finish a third tomorrow. Then I'll have to do more cutting. Our road was a sheet of ice.
Same here Karen. I didn't think to bring the ash bucket in from outside. I keep it quite a distance from the house. I stepped out the door and slid 2 ft. Ashes in the stove will be fine tonight . I couldn't get it back out with hot ashes in it even if I wanted to.
Morning all, freezing rain missed us, be careful out there Dianne and Karen...
Girls didn’t come today so it’s a sew sew day for me, on to block #2 ogbthe monthly solstice quilt project. Looked at weather, seems like half decent weather this weekend, unless long range forecast changes I’ll take mom stateside, get that commitment behind me.
Guess I should call and book room today, can always cancel if things change.
The lane is 1 long skating rink. The guy who sands has been called in..Problem with that his sanding machine has gone kaput so his nephew sits in the back of the truck and tosses out sand with a shovel. Oh well at least there is some sand on the lane.
Dull, dreary day and that's how I feel. I hope I can get out tomorrow. Don't want to miss a turkey dinner.
Stay safe, well and warm
Dianne
Can visualizenthat scene Dianne
Dozed of for no more than 1/2 hour, woke to quite a storm..
My DD made it through the holiday season and my son in law's birthday, Dec 20th, OK. But, she is just working so much to keep herself busy. Wish I was able to spend more time with her, but she's working 10-12 hour shifts most days. Primary contact I have with her is a text message asking me to go and walk her dog!
Dark day here, too. Rain yesterday, snow overnight. It all looks pretty, just hoping the ground is frozen, yesterday it was all mud in my backyard, which became all mud in my kitchen!
Does anyone talk to Judy? Haven't seen her posting for a while.
Deb
Am sure she is keeping busy so she doesn’t have to think, hard place to be in because eventually she will have to deal with it, must be heart wrenching for you...
my yard was muddy as well, luckily Ziggy didn’t want out so no muddy paws but talk about him shedding, fur all over.
Talked to Judy just after Christmas, Computer acting up, as always lots going on in her life thus no posts.
Was doing good on block. 2 of the Solstice quilt, just too bad I layer on couch this afternoon.
Guess Andrew will be here plowing in the morning
Dianne & Betty - take care out there, on that ice. We have icy conditions here, too - melting, then freezing overnight. It was crazy, crazy, walking outside today. So many of us went to the arena and the parking lot was a skating rink.
I'm ok walking, but know a lot of my friends here are elderly, and with health problems.
We had our RB tea & it was lovely. One of the ladies (75yo) took really sick - headachey, room spinning, dry heaves, and we called an ambulance for her. They're still accessing her, so I'll call back in 1/2 hour
Morning, the news say there were many accidents last night due to weather, snow and ice, yes Susan, we will have to be extra cautious walking.
Been laying here, no reason to get out of bed at 5:00 so been watching a movie but getting restless so might as well get up.
Uncle allan’s Nephew passed on Sunday, we had thought he might go before uncle Allan but not, passed within the week..brain cancer , only 25
So sorry to hear that Betty. Way to young.
Yes, then Paul cousin to this lad sent me this..
“Yes and I don’t know if u know bob Elsmer he passed on Monday. Had a brick layer fall of a building yesterday and was killed on one of my sites. Enough already”
