Glad to see you have hummers. It will be another 2 months before we get them here.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?visit with friends old and new..come chat with us..
Mmmmmm betting you have a wonderful pot of chicken broth. Hubby made me some onion soup and it has sure helped my cold. I hate onions but I love onion soup. I like the flavor but I don't want the slimy things in my mouth. Sweet hubby strains mine then adds croutons & cheese.
Heaven has another angel
I've been going over quilt blocks that I got from 2012, during our Sistahs of the Heart block exchange, and found two that made me sad - Dorothy's & Barb's. Two angels that are no longer with us, and that I will treasure, and now must put them together into a lap quilt. Ah, memories.
Betty - I know that you enjoyed Tubby's jokes (wonder where Shirley is?), and found a joke I thought you'd enjoy, and one that Tubby might have sent if he were still here:
TEXT TO NEIGHBOUR
Hi, Fred, this is Alan next door. I have a confession to make. I have been riddled with guilt these past few months and have been trying to get up the courage to tell you face-to-face, but I am at least telling you in text as I cannot live with myself a moment longer without you knowing. The truth is I have been sharing your wife, day and night when you’re not around. In fact, probably more than you. I haven’t been getting it at home recently, but I know that’s no excuse. The temptation was just too great. I can no longer live with the guilt and hope that you will accept my sincerest apologies, and forgive me. It won’t happen again. Please suggest a fee for usage, and I’ll pay you. Regards, Alan.
NEIGHBOUR’S RESPONSE
Fred, feeling so angered and betrayed… grabbed his gun and shot his wife and neighbour dead.He returned home, poured himself a stiff drink and sat down on the sofa. Fred then took out his phone where he saw a second message from his neighbour, Alan:
SECOND MESSAGE
Hi, Fred, this is Alan next door, again. Sorry about the typo on my last text. I expected that you figured it out anyway, and noticed that darned Auto-Correct changed “wi-fi” to “wife.” That’s today’s technology for you, hey! Regards, Alan
Here's a cheers to Tubby & all those who love a good (clean) joke
Sorry to hear about your Uncle Betty. Sending our condolences and prayers.
Love that joke Susan.
Big smile Susan...
Dianne, how are you?
Thanks lindakay, restless night..giving up thoughts of sleeping
Condolences on the passing of your Uncle Allan.
My brother Bob is fighting a battle at present .. just diagnosed with a heart problem.
Dad of 6, DH to DSin law for over 60 years .. never smoked, drinks rarely and very active .. going to be a tough few weeks with testing etc.
He's 82, my last sibling as my other 2 brothers are deceased. Feel crummy.
~M~
So sorry to hear about your uncle, Betty. Prayers being sent.
Prayers for your brother, too, M. I hope his testing goes well.

Sending prayers for your brother "M".
33 this morning. 35 will be our high. Freezing rain in some areas.
Good morning,
Betty so sorry to hear of Uncle Allan's passing. As we said with the others, they are not suffering any more. Just leaves a hole in our hearts. I too loved your dream of Barb. Can just see that so much. One of our conversations was about her and her oxygen on wheels and trouble traveling.
I did go have a cup of Timmys in her memory yesterday. I had sent her a bag of Timmies in her Santa Warren box.
Woke up to about 2 or so inches fresh snow, and just saw it might be in 50s by weekend. There are flood warnings up too.
M - prayers for you and family. I am the "baby" too, but my brothers down share much with their health. Neither of us have anyone else really. Shoe has a young daughter (early 20s) and other has me. Really a family divided but they both know I am ready to help as needed.
Waving to all....Don't think there is enough coffee today. I was up at 4:30 with dog to go out and a "stranger" in the bed....Tilly found her way up and I wasn't sure how to take it. She just took my pillow and all was find. haha
Debbie
Betty - sorry to hear about your uncle Allan passing - so true, it leaves a hole in the heart....... I agree, Debbie
I'm missing my Mom, although I know she's better off now, I am remembering memories.......
You know, each day on FB it has "this day" and it looks at posts over the last years from post on this date through the years.
I have stumbled on some great memories, Messages from Barb, Herbie (Frank) and many others....including my family...that have passed. They make me sad....but also make me smile to think of them with love.
Did I mention that I found a stash of quilt blocks from 2012? I am going to put them together as a lap blanket, with some other blocks I have, within a month. Two of the blocks are from friends that have passed - Dorothy Mitchell (Lavonne) and Barb (Quilter5bdsr). Dorothy was so sick in March 2012 that she couldn't actually do hers, so she sent me the pattern and the colours she wanted, and her signature. I made it, but it was her choices that made it hers. She passed away shortly afterwards
Marilyn, so sorry about your brother. Praying the test will come back fixable and nothing major.
Betty, sorry about Uncle Allen. A lot of celebrating in heaven going on currently.
I have a board meeting tonight and Vern's nursing helper is taking him and his son Brian to Olive Garden for dinner. He is actually looking forward to it. We are both feeling better but I am still on the mend. I would rather stay home.
Weather was raining and cold this morning and now the sun is out and warming up. Suppose to get colder this weekend. Cold is OK for my succulents if they are not wet.
Susan, you have wonderful memories there. So special.
I just got on here to check on all of you. Take care.
First photo succulent bloom. Second sunset. (I was driving up the street, late for an appointment and saw the sunset. I pulled over and took the photo with my i phone. Stop and smell the roses.)
Wow - what a Sunset!! Looks like the sky's on fire!
Morning, snowy day out there and again frigid temps, can’t say cold as it’s muchmore than cold.
Great memories indeed Susan, I’ve several quilts with blocks done by Barb, shall cherish them..
Sharon what a sunset, sometimes you just have to take time late or not to capture such beauty..have one for you, it’s our Martyrs Shrine down the road for me..took Barb and Norm to tour it and do the Rosary walk, she soenjoyed it. Glad Vern got out, did he enjoy his meal?
Debbie are you getting spring weather this weekend..know I owemom a trip to buffalo but don’t want to take any chances...how are you doing, bet Tillie is filling a void.
Been a hard month, greg dropped in after work and said he was going up the lakes to see Doug (father passed) and I know he travels a lot on his own by skidoo but I freaked, have a doom and gloom feeling about me and didn’t want him to do and if
he did a call when he got there, when he left and and one when he got home, think he remembered when river died I had same, he was in 3 bad accidents in 2 months after Rogers death so he called and talked to dougvs going up. He will go up another day hoping it’s with someone.
Going to push myself today, need to be productive.
Beautiful arrangement, but watch Ziggy with those big leaves, they are poison.
It is supposed to be near 50 or so this weekend. RIght now is snowing and cold still.
I think tomorrow supposed to change and start rising a bit.
It's 28F here & going to 37F today
Beautiful flower arrangement, Betty - how very thoughtful of them to send it to you. Yes, Ziggy needs to stay away from a lot of plants. So many of them are poisonous.
Do you often get "feelings" about people getting hurt? If so, that's both a blessing & a curse......
Debbie - hope your weather improves & keeps on that way
Heading out to a Red Hatters lunch today - best get a move on!
Betty, that is a beautiful photo.
I understand them sending you flowers Betty, because you were there for them. A lot of individuals disappear when someone is dying.
No cooking today, leftovers. Vern decided at the last minute that he did not want to go out so I ordered food from Olive Garden and the nursing assistant picked it up for me. I went to the Board meeting and then stopped at Trader Jo's for my weekly stop. I have a hair cut appointment tomorrow and that just made one less place I need to go.
Betty, can people in the United States, send plants or cuttings to Canada. Can you bring plants back from the US when you go into New York? Questions for another DG member that lives in Canada.
We are suppose to be getting colder but sun is out. Deb, hope your weather warm up soon.
Dryer just sang my song so I need to go fold clothes while they are still warm.
Sharon - I've gotten seeds & plants (cuttings) from friends in the US. Just have to have cuttings wrapped up well, with a wet paper towel in a baggie
What about inspection?
I can't remember how it was labeled, but the seeds were just sent in a letter envelope.
The main thing is, as long as there's no soil involved, and a minimum of water, you're fine. So, "plant cuttings, No Soil" would be on the label, PLUS it has to be a labelled as a gift, and not an endangered plant or one from a Sensitive area.
I know Sharon when I’m stateside it’s one of the first things they ask, I’m not allowed to bring them across even if I got them from a nursery..maybe different where Susan is..I can get seeds though.
Ahhh Vern was so looking forward to going out.
Am appreciative of the flowers..jeff said he spoke with Paul and was told how thankful they were I was there 3 days so guess I wasn’t in the way.
Keep looking at the clock, guess not too early for a bath then bed is it? Lol
Years ago, we used to cross at Windsor and go for a Sunday drive to a large nursery called Collasantes. They had a small zoo and a place to eat, also Jack Miner's Bird Sanctuary was nearby. so it was a fun day. We always brought back plants with no problem. Perhaps it's changed. Probably as it's no longer an easy place to visit. Growing up in the Detroit area, going to Canada was like going to the neighboring city. We would drive over to favorite eating places, or to visit friends. We never thought anything of getting Canadian money as change. How sad it's all so restricted now.

I'm so very glad that they sent you flowers, Betty - it's a lovely memento of how they appreciate you.
re cuttings & plants: I suppose I may have been thinking about last May when I flew to Winnipeg and brought back a plant. They just wanted to make sure I didn't have a lot of fluid in it on the plane.
I remember someone telling me that bringing plants across the border that they had to be bare root, not with soil on them. It's in the soil where the bugs go & breed etc, and between countries they're very sensitive to anyone bringing "pests" over.
Morning, freezing rain on the way..
Know I so wanted to bring a few shrubs Susan that I fell in love with and asked about it amd was told it was a no go but thinks change so Sharon perhaps check it out with postal service.
Decided I would do a bit of quilting on the top an acquaintance dropped off before Christmas, would say I’ve got it 3/4’s done, here is hoping I don’t run out of aurafil light greythread so I can finish it then I will be able to move on to my Solstice quilt..
Debating wether or not I should book a flight to Florida in March, might do so, a get away would break up the winter.
Freezing rain on the way here too. It is very dismal looking out there. I went out early and did everything I needed except I forgot to mail a parcel to the USA Duh!! That was 1 of the reasons I went out.
Years ago 1 of the American cottagers had relatives up. The guy was so taken with the Scotch Thistles he went to great lengths to hide them so he could sneak them back. Olga told him he would regret taking them as did I. We were like they are invasive if you want to sneak something back go for the trilliums. A couple of years later he was ruing the day he transplanted hem.
Ah Karen you brought back some sweet memories about Jack Miner's Bird Sanctuary. We would visit it every summer. My sister lived in Windsor for a few years and we visited there a lot. I remember begging to go through the tunnel instead of the bridge. I was about 5 or 6 and I guess I thought I would see all the fish swimming around.
Stay safe, well and warm
Dianne and the TH

Here is hoping freezing rain misses us both Dianne. Doubtful for me though as rain is eminent, so heavy out there..snowmobiles won’t be happy..
I too loved going through the tunnel vs bridge.
Taking a break, jello yummy, then off downstairs to finish the quilt, WANT it offthe frame today
Somehow the tunnel seemed special, kind of silly as you couldn't see a thing. Always watched for the flags in the middle. Favorite place in Windsor was a tiny fish & chips place called The Heather Bell. Last we were over it was still there and still good.
For the life of me I’ve been somewhere in the past several years that I went through underground tunnel, can’t think where..perhaps down east or nyc?
Just took brenda’s Quilt off frame, tomorrow I will put the binding on for her but she will hand sew it.
Every summer my Mom and Dad would load us four kids in the back seat of their Imperial Chrysler and eave Nevada and head to Portland, Oregon. All the relatives were there. Somewhere on the way there was this very long tunnel. My father would get about half way through and then start honking the horn. Us kids would go wild with glee.
We are 67 degrees today and tomorrow. Then there is a cold front moving in from somewhere and our high will be 47 with a low of 30. Cold for us. Only a few days then we are back in the high 50s.
Betty, right now Florida is having a cold spell. March in Las Vegas is our windy time of year. Gardener is coming tomorrow to trim the roses. That time of year. New crew is coming Monday to spend the day for a total cleanup front and back.
Dianne, take care of yourself in that cold weather.
Vern's 85th birthday is in a couple of weeks. I have to get to planning something. He wants it low key.
I got my hair cut and colored today and went to the grocery store. Health care worker stayed over. As soon as I got home he wanted a Root beer float. Left overs for dinner tonight.
Karen, have the kids finished moving? You will not know what to do with all the quiet. Vern has ear phones for the TV sound and I can mute the TV and his ear phones can still pick it up. I love the quiet.
Susan, good seeing you on Facebook.
You all be good to yourself and stay healthy.
Wow - 85! That's a major milestone for him. So many men of any age want their birthdays to be low key.......... oh well, guess you go with the flow, eh?
See me on Facebook? I guess maybe I'm posting more? I don't know.........
Yum the root beer float sounds pretty good right about now Sharon. Now I will definitely have to get the makings tomorrow.
Duke is knocking on the door to come in. I had to lock it or he would have opened it up already. I was hoping to keep them for last call but think I will probably have to have another one.
Stay safe , well and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH
Sharon, my hubby has those earphones too, I got them for him because he loves all that war stuff and the noise made me crazy. We are all alone now, I'm getting back into sewing but oh how I miss those girls. I know my DS and DIL are enjoying them.
Morning all, we missed the freezing rain and irs back to normal winter temps.
Dianne, how is it in your neck of the woods, did the ice miss you as well?
Karen did you finish your tuffet? Sometimes they run a series of classes for same project, maybe you could join one of those if they have it. Am sure you are lonely without the girls amd that they miss you equally as well.
Root beer float, omg haven’t had one of those since I was a teen I’m sure. After teen dance we used to head to restaurant for root beer float.
Sharon 85is indeed a mile marker, maybe just having the kids over? Hard to find a gift for someone who has everything. Roger had those wireless headsets and like Karen I didn’t need the volume, he had his so loud but ask him and he didn’t have a hearing problem.
Hard to believe you are caring for roses while we peak out at our gardens hidden under 2’ of snow.
Just put binding on Brenda’s quilt, ready for her to pick it up this afternoon.
Read uncle Allen’s obit and she’d a tear
Beautiful life story for your uncle, Betty.
I haven't made my tuffet, The store was talking of doing another class and if they don't it's OK I'm sure I can finish it here. Funny thing is, my thought in making it was it would be a nice stool for the little girls to sit on.
My dad would make root beer floats in large mugs. He would pack in so much ice cream, it would take two cans of root beer to use up all the ice cream. Pre diabetes days.....
All this talk about a tuffet reminds me of the nursery rhyme Little Miss Buffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey.
That's exactly how I explain what I'm making.
