Thanks for letting us know about Barb. Sorry to hear she is not doing well, but know she is in good hands. Sending lots of healing prayers for her.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?visit with friends old and new..come chat with us..
Betty, please have someone drive you, if you have to go out.
I echo LK Betty. Please have someone drive you.
Greg did come and get me and I visited with uncle Allan..my cousin Doug was there, sosick with flu, greg drove him home while I visited..uncle Allan’s woke, said there is my favourite girl, dozed then realized I was still there, said grandma has her family with her (referring to last aunt who died a few weeks ago). When his daughter Brenda got there I left and said I’d be back tomorrow
Vern was in extreme pain in his back several years ago. I told him to take two Motrin and go to bed. The next day he would not get out of bed because he had so much pain in his back. He was taken to the hospital by an ambulance and after many tests they discovered blood clots in both lungs and one in his right leg. Blood clots in back were caused by lung clots. He was put on a blood thinner and remained in the hospital until the clots disappeared.
Prayers going out to Barb.
And Betty, someone needs to sit on you.
Vern and I are getting over a cold. Our weather is still in the mid 60s but rain suppose to be here Tuesday.
Photos are succulents
Hugs, Sharon
((((Barb & Norm)))) Hugs and prayers for you. Yes, this is treatable, and praying she is going to show her fight.
I'll check in tomorrow. Everyone rest and feel better.
House is very quiet now. I know it's best for us and for them to get out on their own but oh my I so miss those girls. Dr. appt this A.M., just reg check up type visit. Then we can start cleaning up the room to get ready for it to be finally ours. I hate the thought of having to move all my clothes down stairs. Good time to go through and get rid of ones I don't wear.
Hoping to hear good news about Barb soon. I know it takes a few days to clear blood clots.
Morning all, stormy day here, not as cold but a stay inside kind of day..imagine them saying we might get rain mid week, what Koas that would make
Thoughts and prayers go out to Barb this morning, hoping treatment is working.
Karen, something to do on a winter day, purge clothing, did so when I had the flood, should do so again. It will be hard for you to adjust to being quiet but I’m sure it’s for the best all around, besides you can video with them and that is a bonus
Debbie are you snowed in, how is the special food menu coming? Feeling any better??
Sharon, nobody has to sit 9n me as I’m do8ng absolutely nothing, couch potato I’ve been..sorry to hear you are dealing with colds, hard to get rid of this time of year
didn’t get a call re uncle Allan so hoping meds they are treating him for pneumonia are helping, as doc said his lungs are finished so meds can only help for so long.
While I was typing got a call that aunt Muriel’s hubby Don passed away at 3:00 this morning.he has been unwell, remember he was in Toronto hospital and she wanted mom and I to take turns taking her to the hospital?
As I was telling Sharon on FB last night, my biggest problem is eating.
I am NOT hungry at all...ever. I might have something light about 1;00, and then eat dinner. But no hunger feelings. Doc and nutritionist said I MUST eat 3 meals of 30 to 45 grams carbs, and 2 snacks 15 gr. carbs every day. This feels to me like I am just going to put on more weight because not hungry.
So hard battling DH. Unless it is HIM that has the problem, he truly doesn't care. Just feed HIM what HE wants. This low carb low cal menu has him eating everything in the house. He goes the 25th for a physical, am thinking to go and see if I can get the doctor to put him on similar.
Betty, not snowed in, but we sure have enough. AND now saying today 20s, and on Wednesday up to 54!!! Back to teens on Friday and Saturday.
Barb, thoughts and prayers, hugs.....tell Norm bring you a Timmies Coffee!! I know you need that about right now!
By the way, we have a "new" family member. Betty, I opened the door and she waltzed right in. So Waltzing Matilda aka Tilly....is new gal. I think she is about a year or a bit more as she is rather full.....and just PRAY she is not filled out due to kittens. It was SOOOO cold in negatives I couldn';t leave her out. She is friendly as the others are very feral and they have beds in garage.
Odd thing is....other cats ...and THE DOG welcomed her now problem. REALLY odd for Sam who hates cats!!
Stay safe and warm all
Debbie
Where is everyone. What happened!
*Gentle Hugs* to Barb & Norm - blood clots are scary things. Glad it was caught & you're getting treatment.
Betty - please take care - worried about you. I agree, you should not be driving. Please take care.
Debbie - WHY aren't you eating? Have you gotten so "down" that you stopped, and can't start again? Slowly increase every day, is my suggestion. It can be difficult, but the only way, in my humble opinion.
Got home safe & sound, with an uneventful drive.
Debbie love the new house guests name.
Where is Betty?
I know she had family death, but not hearing from her is very odd.
Talked to Sharon
Betty is fine, just busy.
Thanks, Debbie. I was getting worried, too.
Almost evening,
Feeling a tad better, has been a busy day, haven’t stopped since early morning, girls came, just tidied up and Kyle came so just now I put my feet up but they are calling for inclement weather over next 4-5 days so trying to talk myself into going to town, could pick up something for supper at same time...think it will depend if doc sent my scripts to pharmacy today otherwise I’ll wait till tomorrow..almost think I’ve done enough for today!
Ahh debbie, had an aunt till, as crazy as can be lol. Where is the photo? Just what you needed right..a.m. sure other local kitties told her your house is the best in town so why wouldn’t she pick you.lol
Susan, great you made it to the memorial and back without mishap.
No news of Barb?
Deb how did you and your daughter do overchristmas, know it would have been a difficult one?
Karen was it today your new bed was to come?
Waving to all others
How is Barb?
Betty - must have missed about your uncle (? Allen?) passing away. My deepest condolences.
Debbie - same way we got our cat Smokey - cold temps & Bob just couldn't leave her outside, so brought her in.
Picture of Bob, son Adam, daughter-in-law Emily & grandson Marshall (3yo, and with a fractured collarbone). We visited with them, in Winnipeg, on Sunday. It was a great visit - Marshall took to his granddad Bob right away.
awwwwwww - what a sweetie!
Morning all, will hit 40 and rain today, what a mess that will be.
Waiting on news re Barb, no news is good news right?
Ahhh Debbie Tillie is adorable, let’s hooe someone didn’t dump her and a family is 8n search of her..unlikealy though as you don't have a high density of population where you live do you?
Susan, lovely photo, Marshall is adorable. No my uncle Allan is still with us and improving, aunt Muriel’s Beau Don passed away.
Fought vertigo last night so didn’t go to town, don’t know how Dianne deals with it on a regular basis.couch time this morning till I get my bearings..still need to go to town, we will see how things go.
Morning everyone.
Debbie, that cat is beautiful.
Susan. looks like you had a good trip, glad you are back home safe and sound. How did that little one get a broken collar bone.
Betty, sorry to hear of Muriels friend passing. 'Sure hope you get to feeling better soon. When is your next Dr. visit?
Tillie looks like she's just as happy to stay with you.
Betty - sorry to hear your Aunt Muriel's Beau Don passed away.
No one knows how Marshall fractured his collarbone. They noticed him favouring it and took him to the Dr. He's supposed to be using a sling, but he takes it off a lot.
Besides my mom's quilt (that she pieced the top of & I finished), I got her family ring (4 topaz for Nov siblings & 1 aguamarine for me, in the middle), I got her knitting bag. It's to hold the knitting needles, with room for her knitting project). She had the knitting counter that I used to have one of and it broke, now I have hers, in perfect condition. It's a Susan Bates "peg-it" Knitting Counter, and I'm ever so pleased to have it.
Things to cherish for sure Susan..
Girls called, not coming tonight..been on couch all day, hated the thought of having to get dressed. Lol
News from Norm. Barb has received 2 blood transfusions to help with her strength. Pulmonologist said the blood clots were small if Barb was in perfect health but considering her COPD things are serious The doc also put Barb on a low dose of blood thinner. Norm has yet to speak to the Endo doc (I am not even going to try and spell it (lol)) but will try and see him today. Both Barb and Norm are very thankful for the love and prayers.
Well here I was boasting to myself see you didn't get the flu and pneumonia shot and WHAM I woke up feeling terrible this morning. Raw throat, fever, feel like I've gone through a 12 round boxing match that I didn't win. Today is a curled up on the bed with a quilt and 3 dogs.
Stay safe, warm and well.
Dianne
Thanks for the update on Barb.
Sorry to hear you are feeling bad
Praying for a speedy recovery.
Thank you kindly Dianne giving us the update, am sure not feeling well yourself it was difficult typing out the information..seems they have everything under control, here is hoping now you get back on your feet, hear that flu is the worse ever..
Hugs
Sorry to hear Barb's not doing well, but glad to hear they're taking such good care of her.
oh Dianne - really sorry to hear you've gotten this nasty flu! Please do lots of resting! (was it the Endocrinologist?) Gotta love spell check (SOMETIMES lol)
Definition of Endocrinologist - "endocrinologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the endocrine system, such as diabetes and growth disorders. The glands of the endocrine system produce hormones, which are chemical substances that regulate many important body functions."
Here's a picture of the quilt I got - I'm going to "stitch in the ditch" then wash it.
Susan, that quilt is beautiful. I think the pattern is called, trip around the world?.
Yes, that's exactly what it's called, Linda. Thanks for the reminder, I'd forgotten!
How're you doing? Hope you're feeling better :-)
I am doing OK, just lots of mountain cedar in the air with the winds coming down from the north. Lots of us have allergies, and the flu is going around. So far we have avoided the flu.
Good morning,
Off and running. Dentist first then "new kitty" to the Vet.
I will check in later.
Have a good day Prayers for Barb & Norm and all who need
Debbie
Morning all, sump pump working overtime because of all this thaw, hard to believe we lost so much snow, temps are suppose to drop so am hoping is lessens water coming in...sure don’t want a flood.
Debbie drive safe, guess that kitty picked the right home, you sure look after your furries.
Susan, lovely quilt, I personally would keep it just as is keeping memories of the quilt came about and who did what on it.
Lindakay that flu is a dandy so yes I’d stay away from anywhere you might catch it
Got a call last night, family and uncle Allan met with doctor, he explained quality of life, how it will be another attack soon after he beats this one, if he does and all decided to take him off any/all life support, uncle Allan agreed so now the wait begins. I will go in later and visit with him...
Hi .. I'm on the fly as well .. wanted to thank Dianne for the info re Barb .. God bless her, and Dianne ..
Lorna is just about done her antibiotics for pneumonia .. starts the process for a NEW and IMPROVED socket next week with a NEW prosthetist who is just a delight .. she works with Kerry, but, I think Kerry may be thinking of leaving/selling the business, as his health is not good .
Her Mom is doing kinda ok .. but is forgetful at times (aren't we all). We may be going down that way in April .. however, DH is due for knee surgery, and my brother, Bob, has just diagnosed with a heart condition, he's 82 and super active .. surgery may be forthcoming either here or in Toronto .. AND .. I had blood work yesterday and the values reflecting my kidneys are 'off' ..
Susan, what a gorgeous quilt .. what's 'stitch in the ditch' .. my over active mind is curious :-)
Sending warm thoughts and best wishes to all of you lovely ladies ..
HUGS
~M~
Dianne, Thanks so much for update on Barb, she's in my thoughts often. I went through the blood clot thing several years ago and it's no picnic. I hope you will now take good care to not overdo. This flu is nothing to mess around with, call for help if you feel you need it.
We got all thawed here Betty, but it's starting all over again. I knew it would , just was hoping for a longer break.
Tomorrow was supposed to be my class for making a tuffet but thinking I will have to pass. I have everything all ready and prepped for the class but still have this old snotty cold. I refuse to share and also don't want to expose myself to anything. I'm sure I can make it at home easily, but I will miss the fun of going to a class.
"M", sorry to hear Lorna has pneumonia, praying for a speedy recovery. It sure makes it hard to visit when her Mom is so far way.
What's going on with your liver?
Betty, this is the quilt I mage for my son and daughter in law, she picked the fabrics and design. It is an easy pattern, but shoving king size quilts under my little machine was a pain!
I am working on a baby quilt for my niece, a sun bonnet sue in pink and purples.
Waving “M”,sounds as though your household is full of woes, here is hoping all goes well with Gords operation, that perhaps meds can help your brother vs operation and they find an answer for your recent results. Imagine it’s hard keeping Lorna down even with pneumonia..now is this the new prothesis you were so hoping to get approved? If so kudos to you for all the work you did getting it passed, I’d be concerned having work done by same as previously done...am sure her mom would love another visit before Lorna starts work, let’s hope weather in April is nice for travelling.
Lindakay that would indeed be a challenge doing a queen size quilt on a regular machine, is the throat on your machine wider than normal? Love the color scheme, it’s beautiful, did they get it yet?
Considerate of you Karen not wanting to spread germs, you were so looking forward to it.
Weather here is the pitz, stormy as can be, looks like I’ll not be going to town, big sigh
I sit here with tears running down my face. Time is short for Barb and they are moving her to a hospice. Norm will keep me posted.
Dianne
Please send our love and prayers!
I just didn’t ever want to read such a post Dianne, am sure it was difficult for you to write hugs
There are no words, I’m in shock, knew her breathing was getting worse and that she spoke of palliative care a few months ago but hope there would be improvement.. when you next talk to Norm please let him know how saddened we are by this news..tears as well
