Best/Worse/What did I learn today?visit with friends old and new..come chat with us..

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Wow, 2 feet of snow in two days is a lot of snow. We are 67 degrees today and I took the dogs for heir walk and another one is in about 30 minutes. Right now they are both sleeping behind me on the back of the couch. One cat is sleeping on Vern's lap and the other is seeping on the cat tower over by the fireplace. Gas fireplace and I have it on today just for New Year's eve.

Betty I am so sorry you fell. I fell about 3 weeks ago on the back patio. I got one foot tangled up in a garden hose, just walking by it, and down I went. I hit on one knee and then bounced my head. I am always trying to be so careful but this one snuck up on me. I use a ski pole when I am in the garden because some areas I get into I have a difficult time getting out.

Vegas is having a big bash tonight and many individuals in town to bring in the new Year. They will be having great weather.

Happy New Year to all you friends. See you next year.

Photos I took right after dog walk. Third photo is called sour grass and considered a week in California. It must have come in a plant I purchased from a nursery. It only comes up in the cooler weather and blooms all winter. So as it starts to warm up, it disappears.

Sharon, I imagine Las Vegas outdo put on quite a New Year’s Eve celebration. Love the garden photo’s

Many local outdoor celebrations were cancelled because of the extreme cold conditions..barrie puts on quite a do but not last night..would be a lot of disappointed families.

Mixed emotion day today, add in that bones are aching more than yesterday.should prove interesting..

Guess first on my list is,a,hot bath, good soaking in Epson salts

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, cold weather/snow warning issued yet again today, so for those having same stay warm, stay safe..

Glad you are feeling up to having company lindakay...know you enjoy having a house full, just don’t overdo.

Not sure if the girls are coming this morning so I’ll have a coffee and wait and see.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Finally having our family Christmas today before Brandon heads back to school tomorrow. It will be fun to see everyone. They are all coming here as I can't go out.
Feeling a bit stronger each day but still I want answers as to what to do about all this. Between anemia,COPD and the colitis I'm at my wits end.... Doctor on Thursday snow storm or not......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying you get answers soon Barb.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can understand how frustrated you must be Barb, let everyone do the work and just enjoy the family.

Have furnace at 73, feeling coldso best I turn it up to 75

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Please take it easy Barb, do let the rest pamper you. It's rough when multiple problems hit at once and sometimes it makes it harder to figure out what's going on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat came but had to leave, storm getting worse..we’ve blizzard conditions. Uggg

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Brrr even with furnace at 75 it feels cold..pushed myself off the couch and working on mom’s blanket..trying to finish mom’s quilt, seems never ending.not much to do other than keep warm or patch up to Florida but then weather is just a tad warmer than here right

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

22 here in Texas!

Lyndonville, NY

It is so cold here, I have opened the back porch door to let the strays come in the little utility room to eat and warm a bit. Thought for sure I would catch heck from DH....so I closed it at bed time. Woke up this morning...it was ajar again and 2 were snoozing on the blanket. DH said "don't know what your talking about". haha

Yes we have had quite a bit snow also, and today the "feels like" is now up to a whopping -17 f. Might hit 23 today....but I am not holding my breath.

We haven't done much of anything since Christmas. DH came down with a bug, and shared where I started with symptoms on Saturday. SO taking some meds and laying low. Doing basics.

So worried about the kids driving back and forth to work. THe blizzard yesterday was up in Amherst near their work. DD is closer ...they sent her home at 3:00 thankfully BUT DS had to work til 8:00 and had long drive home to here.
So far is clear skies out there but more snow moving in this afternoon.

Barb, I wish I had advice on the Crons, I think oldest DD has that, but not sure. She eats gluten free, dairy free and very bland. I hope doctors have answer for you.

LindaKay, stay warm! That is just chilly for all of you.

Betty park it on the couch with Ziggy. Totes will wait.

Hugs to all of you, be safe and warm.....travel safely also
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope Debbie that you don’t catch that flu virus that is rampant here..homemade soup amd couch for you as well.

Paul is really a.m. old softy at heart.,hard thinking people are living outside, can’t bear to think of it..have blankets in area underneath back verandah, hoping whatever critters are out there they will find shelter..suppose to be -28tomorrow with wind chill factor.

Debbie, Ziggy is right beside me, when I go downstairs he is close behind..think he misses to humans who are usually here as well as being outside with other furries.,he’s getting bored lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy New Year to all
Sorry you ladies have been falling - please take care. I feel I should get some bubble wrap for you!!

Hi - still in Winnipeg. Will be leaving Monday morning and will be a 12 hour drive, too. Had mom's service today, and got the chance to stand up and talk about remembrances. It was well received and we gave mom a good send-off.
It was nice to see all the cousins, and my auntie Ethel (my mom's last surviving sibling). We all say it "why must it take a funeral for us to see each other?" Ah well, I did see a lot of people that I grew up with and it was nice.
My great-niece sang my mom's favourite song "Whispering Hope" and did it beautifully, to the accompaniment by her mom (my niece) on the piano. What a beautiful rendition.

Dianne - the saint of safe travels is St. Christopher

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunsgphine day for next 3days but sub zero temps..tomorrow think it’s -29f with wind chill factor thenthe snow begins.

Susan, yesterday must have been difficult for you and I’m sure your words were comforting...safe travels, in the meantime enjoy being with friends and family.

Not sure what I will get into today but has to be something off the couch..Brenda an old acquaintance had brought me her granddaughters quilt to do before Christmas, only outstanding thing I have left that belongs to someone else so just might start it.

What are you up to today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am resting today. Family left yesterday. We had a wonderful delayed Christmas.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great lindakay, sometimes delaying it and having entire family is well worth it.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We're sometimes eating vegan at Michelle & Lonnie's and sometimes we eat our own food lol
It's an interesting mix

Victoria Harbour, ON

-37 with wind chill factor, warning frostbite can occur within minutes so I’m staying in for sure.

Will be a quiet day here, had lots planned yesterday but then couch called my name again lol

Maybe it’s not just the fall but January blues..

What is it like in your neck of the woods..I imagine Dianne,Karen and debbieare getting much the same weather as I.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! That is cold! Glad to hear you are staying inside. It is 44 right now, supposed to be 69 this afternoon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

69 is perfect weather for me, wish I were there!

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Betty Temps are at -2f with a "feels like" -29f with the wind blowing. Had about 8 inches snow last night. It is so pretty out, but except to take Sam out, I will be planted inside. Did my groceries last night and here I sit!

Nothing much planned today but to clean, and take the little tree down.

Roads are so bad and DS just left for work. He left bit late to give roads a chance to be plowed and all. Worried about him...but I just have to realize he is grown "man" of 24 and I need put it in Gods hands. And 2 guardian angels....and anyone who can look after that boy! LOL He needs bubble wrap and bumper pads still. hahaha

Going to get some breakfast and stay on my schedule with this diet. I had some coffee and now...1 egg, and a crumpet!!!

Stay warm all.....
Debbie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty we need to head to Denver as a friend there has just that temp. today. Says she's wearing t-shirt & sandles.
I'm going out a bit later, our local quilt shop is having a class in making a tuffet next week Sat. and I've always wanted to make one. I need to get the supply list.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, another cold cold day brrr
-24 with feel like -42
Sharon wants to meet up in Barrie at 9,do some fabric shopping, do breakfast so although I am quite ok with not going out I’m have to..a.m. sure once I’m out I’ll be ok.

Might even go look for wallpaper/border for spare room, maybe a quilt top for my bed, bought one at Christmas but bought one with Christmas design, also need space bags so that being said guess I do need to go out.

Isit a cold one in your neck of the woods?

41 this morning.
Please bundle up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got in, was -28without wind factored in, bitter bitter cold, did some shopping with Sharon and Linda, went for breakfast, ate 2bites and that was that..will have a tea and see if it settles my tummy

Sharon bought mega fabric, I didn’t buy any

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Today a lot of our family got together at my sisters, to talk about Mom, etc. They found a quilt that Mom & I made together, ie: Mom picked out the fabric, machine stitched the top & I found it about 35 years later & put it together. I machine stitched (stitch in the ditch) and tied it together. Gave it to her for Christmas 2012. It was nice to get it back today.
