Thanks for the new room.
I have been in bed since yesterday. My diverticulitis is flaring up, not able to eat much, other that toast or soup.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, sorry to hear you are under the weather..these ailments always seem to act up on festive times of the year.

Verona, ON

My sincerest condolences Susan. Safe travels.

dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks all, for the condolences

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, my condolences also. So so hard any time in life, but the holidays so much.
Hugs

Betty, snowing non stop since 4;00 this morning and still going strong. Is forecast all week for snow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Praise the Lord, mom called to say she didn’t want to go to Buffalo this week, too cold and doesn’t want to drive in snow..I’m ok with that

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Just checking in and hoping all needs are being met. It seems all I want to do is huddle under the covers and sleep. If I didn't need to go now and then I wouldn't get out of bed at all.....
Thinking of all of you and grateful for your prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry you have no energy Barb, your body is telling you that rest is what is needed right now.

Linda is in emerge so I’m here waiting on updates.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Oh no, we are all getting old and all have ailments. May you all be blessed with a wonderful, healthy 2018.

I made a pot of 11 bean soup with a ham shank. We just ate the last drops.

Our weather will be in the mid sixties all week. Big weekend for New Years Eve celebration. All we do is stay in and stay warm.

Barb, after I had my back surgery, all I wanted to do was stay and cuddle in bed. But I soon got over that. I had a lot of relatives here to keep an eye on me and take care of Vern.

I have some gardening that needs to be done, clean-up but just can't seem to get in the mood.

Susan, I am so sorry for your loss.

Karen, I am pleased you are doing better.

I am going onto Netflix and watch a movie while Vern is watching football.

Hugs to you all.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh, SO sorry to hear Linda's in the hospital!!
Barb - take care and get some rest.\
You too, Betty - hope you're doing some relaxing
Thank you Sharon, for your condolences. Mom was just so worn out, and ready to go. She was having some discomfort & pain on Christmas night, so they gave her some morphine (normally Tylenol, but this was worse) and she apparently didn't wake up on the 26th. Nicest way to go, I think.

I found out today when my mom's service is - Wed Jan 3rd, so we will be driving to Winnipeg on Saturday & won't be back until Jan 10th or maybe before - not sure. We have a few friends, and many family to see. Flights are SO expensive, and our car's got new winter tires and new ice wiper blades. We'll take the car to a service station and make sure it's long distance winter road worthy. My DH's an excellent driver, and I'm very comfortable with his driving that distance. He's done it before. May stay in Moose Jaw overnight and arrive Sunday morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, -26 with a feels like -45. Sun shinning right now.

Susan economical to drive is your travels in a blizzard area, likely be driv8ng in storms? Yes, your mom’s passing was as good as they get, thankfully no longer in pain.

lindakay how are you?

Sharon, soup sounds delicious, likely was if you’ve eaten it all up lol imagine, you get to go out and work in your Gardens, lucky you..

Must clarify, Linda is my sili travel, haven’t heard from her so will wait until 9am to call and get update.she also wants an answer on a singer sewing machine her friend inherited, barely used and wants $80, keep think8ng I’d like to do a children’s sewing class on Saturday mornings and these older machines would be perfect for kids to use, likely I’ll never do it vpbut having older machines for that purpose would be great.

Will have to check wether or not my car will start this morning as I was thinking of going to cookstown and pick up my Soltice monthly Soltice sewing kit as the sun is shinning, Best I check weather along the way before leav8ng, could be storming in Barrie..also so need hair cut..would be just as comfy staying home in my Jammie’s but I should push myself and get supplies before another storm is upon us.

I am doing better today. This stuff flares up every so often, and boy does it hurt when it does.
Betty, please be careful if you have to go out today.
Happy birthday Dianne. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday, Dianne!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Weather is so crazy, we took visitors on a tour yesterday. Blue sky and no wind here, by the time we were 20 miles up the road it was white out conditions. We turned around, couldn't see anything at all.

Happy birthday Dianne, that cake looks yummy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Birthday wishes Dianne, hope the TH are lavishing kisses on you.

Did go to barrie, even the windshield washer was freezing it was so cold.

Can’t trust local weather forecasts, ok at home and as you say Karen, mstorming 5 milesnfrom home

Got a hair cut inmidland, not much left but it will grow.lol

Picked up what I needed and now ready for hot bath to warm myself up..

Verona, ON

Just got off the phone with Barb. She is home and it is very cold there as well. She can only eat :white things ... white rice, bread and so on for now. She meets with the specialist in early Jan... Sure was good to hear her laugh.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It is a very low key day here.

Dianne and her TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you - we'll be driving through some mighty cold weather, that much is certain. As for blizzards, we'll have to see. We may stop in Moose Jaw at a motel - not expensive at all. Bob checked and found they're about $65. Still less expensive than flying.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How many hours driving Susan?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We were 66 degrees today and suppose to be 67 tomorrow. Beautiful day and I did take Vern outside in his wheelchair and he sat in the sun while I dead headed some star flowers.

I took a few photos of blooming succulents. Enjoy

Happy Birthday Dianne.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the photos Sharon, good to see anything blooming this time of year.

DGS called me tonight to tell me they have found a place downstate to rent. We had a mutual laugh as I told him at that moment we were buying our new bed to go into the room they had been using. I know I've done a lot of complaining about him and his wife, but I truly do love them very much and will miss the babies terribly. We are just at a place & time where it was difficult for us to care for the babies, I need my sewing time & hubby has things of his own to accomplish. This has been a maturing process for him too, he now has a real, support his family job. It just took us a while to get him here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Look at the color of those succulents, simply beautiful Sharon

Karen, did you hear me shout, know you love the kiddies but you can visit and do on-line video..right time it’s your time.

Contemplating going out to backshed, tread through 2feet of snow then shovel so I can open the doors, want to put Christmas away and need totes..young man I had hoped couldhelpisaway so ifits toget done it’s up to me but first I got to get out of my nighty lol

Verona, ON

Good morning everyone. It is a bright sunny day here but very cold.

It is just pristine looking except for our tracks. Very quiet too.We have a huge jack rabbit making his way in the snow. Not only does he leave huge paw prints he comes very close to the house. That's just what the TH needs.Duke asked for his meds this morning. He went right to the spot where I pill him and sat there looking up at the pill bottle. What a guy !!

Forgot to share Barb's card that came with my parcel. The caption says
They Who Are
Wise Women ......(.with 3 women with no faces (that was done on purpose) and in some what of a hippie dress. One has curly hair so that's me, Barb is there too so there is a third lady so come join us Inside I got a big kick out of the story
If there had been
three wise women,
they would have arrived
three days early,
swept the stable,
gathered fresh linens,
and had a hot meal ready and waiting
when the Christ child arrived
Yet they come today
bearing three priceless gifts.....
love, laughter and friendship!!

I loved the card made me tear up a bit.

Karen it must be a relief somewhat about DGS and family moving but you said it - both your DH and yourself need some time for yourselves.

Stay safe, warm and well.
Dianne and her TH

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear he found an apartment. When will they be moving?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hopefully they are making their plans for soon. I'm pretty sure if they are getting that house their landlord will be wanting to be able to collect rent. Our new bed will be here on the 9th so I want them, out of the room by then. GD and kids will be back here by the 3rd. so will get her into gear then.

Pacifica, CA

happy birthday diane..

linda kay how are you feeling?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

♫♪Happy Birthday, Dianne!!♪♫

About 12 hours, Betty. We are having snow tonight, and snow flurries tomorrow (70% each time, so definite). Tonight we had our cold water freeze, but thawed it out in 10 min. Pat & Glenn will be looking after the place while we're gone (watering plants, etc). Pat's SO worried that something will go wrong with our place. Poor lady...........

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

btw - finished the quilt I was working on, for Bob's 3yo grandson Marshall

Morning all, snow day here, need to go to town for silver tape for the totes before setting in back shed, precaution should there be mice looking to find a home, wondering if I should brave the weather this morning and get it over with. Brave the elements before the craziest are out lol

I’m excited re your bed Karen, you will sleep so much better..

Dianne, big smile here on how precious your card and gift was, barb put mega thought into it.

Living room sure looks void of color now that Christmas has been put in totes..
Guess I best get dressed, make a trip to back shed for more totes then head 8nto town.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful quilt Susan.
Please drive safely Betty. How is Linda doing?

I am feeling better, still sore tummy, but on the mend.

Verona, ON

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. The 28th is also our anniversary.

Betty it is absolutely frigid here. Just to give you an idea of how cold it is I have a sweat shirt on over my T and socks. The wood fire is blazing away and eating up blocks of wood as if they were toothpicks.

I went out early this morning and there was hardly any traffic on Hwy 38. The Escape even though it was plugged in did not want to start. A few blue words later it started up. Wouldn't have gone out but I knew Amazon had delivered to the PO a book by Robert Crais I have been waiting for - it was finally released. While I was out I figured I had better go to Foodland and top up some supplies so I am in for several days now.

Safe travels Susan and Bob.A friend used to have a saint with a prayer for those traveling. I'll be darned if I can remember it.

Glad your home LK.

Sassy my cat has been turning up her nose at her favourite canned food so I tried something different today. I cut a wee piece off of the Prime Rib bone..... she sure gobbled that down.

Wood stove is calling my name...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I got to town, only to run in n out as quickly as I could seeing I took a fall down the steps on the way to my car so hurtingbig time..my fault, yep entirely my fault and don’t I know it..going to put a sign on door from inside reminding me to use downstairs door as the steps are undercover.

Greg called to invite me to a New Year’s Day birthday party, having pizza done in his pizza oven for everyone and games on the lake..told him it all depends on how I’m feeling and likely not.

Frigid here as well Dianne, snow again tomorrow
Glad you have supplies to keep you till there is a sunny day.

Lindakay Linda said she had never been so sick, Dave now has it as well and her neighbor, not go8ng around her house, we were to have met up tomorrow but that is a no no.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are snowed in, nearly 2 feet in 24 hours. All is fine here we have plenty for us and animals for several days. Might run out of milk but can manage. We can get out in emergency as we have 4 wheel drive vehicle, but as of now no need.

Verona, ON

Oh Karen that is a not so good New Year's gift. Do you have help getting your driveway cleaned off ? Are you like me - the township leaves the road my lane leads up to lower on their priority list ?

I did not get the flu shot nor the pneumonia shot this year. I go out so rarely during the winter I thought I would chance it. I get quite ill after I have the shots.

Happy New Year to my DG family ... just in case I don't get back.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, bitter cold, warnings posted to stay inside, not to worry, inside I will be...

Karenthat is about what we got Christmas Day, calling for 3 days of snow starting tomorrow.

Dianne,I don’t usually get the shots but decided to this year, hope with not being in general public you won’t likely get a bug that will put you down.

Achy today but thankful I didn’t break anything so I’ll take it easy for yet another day.

As I sit here on the chesterfield ebpverything is so blah..Christmas is put away so no color, won’t be until I decorate for vakent8nes day then the reds come out again.

So what will you all do over the next few days to celebrate the coming of 2018?
Tomorrow is greg’s 49th birthday and 27year anniversary of Roger’sdeath, always a mixed emotion k8nd of day.

Only thing I do on New Year’s Day is go around the house and pick a few projects , write them down and see if I can do them through the year..usually pretty good and reaching my goals..kind of boring isn’t it but best I can do 😏

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are past the end of the county road. Deal with them is, they can turn around on our circle but they have to plow us out too. Otherwise plow would have to back up nearly a mile. Sometimes we have to wait a bit longer but they do get to us and are better than in town.

We had planned to buy a new TV that is on sale, have to hope the sale will last a few more days.

Verona, ON

Karen call the store and see if you can pay with a CC at today's price. They will hold it for you then.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was going to,say same thing Dianne , only a few times at thefurniture store that they wouldn’t do it. Maybe because of weather they just might extend sale.

Laying on couch, sun beaming through, if I close my eyes I can imagine I’m on a Florida beach lol
