11th Annual DG Christmas workshop..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well here we are, first snowfall..decided between watching paint dry I'll make a few more trips to back shed andbring in trees lol

This year's project..

STEP 1

I had mega grays so didn't mix black with white to get a mid color of grey..needs to be dark as the 2nd step real lightens it..

Looking forward to get my kits. How big are these?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not big, they are downstairs, perhaps 10-12 inches high and bases are about 6-8" wide at bottom..will see how close I am when I go downstairs and measure lol
Nice battery piece you can put anywhere..think the lights have a timer, not sure about that.

STEP 2

Prefer this brush not to be a sponge one if that is what you used as we want the bristle part of the brush to make streaks.

With brush I dipped into white paint, lightly brushed it on a paper towel and dragged it along the surface going from top to bottom, if it isn't streaky enough the pick up hits paint again and add in a few places (to your liking)

STEP 3

Once your piece is totally dry with sander or sandpaper (provided) sand edges a a bit of the surface (again to your liking)

Lindakay I measured..

12" high, base is 9" wide..because of the work done on the wide I,e, playning it is very light.

Now to find the greenery bought last year

Thanks for the measurements.

Step 4

- Test the lights out..surely new lights will work..

- Using the 2 plastic ties I sent attach the battery box to the 2 wooden supports in back, remember to place off/on switch so it's easily accessible

- I then tighten the ties but not so much so that I won't be able to pull the battery box out next time I need to replace the batteries.

- cut ends off ties

Step 5

What you don't want to do is try to stuff the inner section completely with greenery

Pull the lights from back to towards the front, don't unravel yet.

Here and there where wire or greenery touches the wood I tack with glue gun, remember it's hot and it hurts, just burnt my finger lol

You may need to fold some of the greenery wire so it fits in comfortably

This is about as much as you will want to fill in.

Add your decorative piece by gluing it in the centre, you may have to hold it down for a bit while it's securing itself to base.

I sent 3 pieces of different greenery, 2 will be used to fill in on each side of the snowman/Santa, not sure which you have, randomly set them in the boxes.

Now you can gently uncoil the lights and set them in where desired, would be nice if you could set them in keeping some of the coil showing, good luck as I've not been able to lol

Step 6

TYou will find another branch of greenery (one of the 3) and will decorate It to your liking
Lay flat and decorate middle, don't overdo

I've included berries,bells pine cone
Set them on greenery with glue gun, again you don't want any ouches, watch your fingers. You may want to use something to push the decorations into the glue.

Now time to place on the very front of wood piece..done with a good glob of hot glue

When dry and secure I pull the edges down a bit.

Step 7

Optional,

I had some spray adhesive but you could brush on a tad of clear drying glues to areas, ie in middle of top branch and/or around base of figurine and a tad here and there with different snow and glitter I sent..

Think this was an easy project, I enjoyed it and hope you will as well.
