Keeping you close in prayer Pat that this is the last of the nephew. His shenanigans have gone on long enough. Sounds to me like he had plenty of help too in what he was doing systematically doing. Is there any way Ben can change anything that has the nephew's name on it? The greed of some people really baffles my mind.....

Omg Pat, does it never end..shaking my head, it's not a wonder you haven't totally broken. How on earth did they get 'he died'? That is a lot of $$ to come up with on such short notice. Now is this for rehabilitation or will it be his permanent home, guess they don't know as yet.

An hour away will make it difficult visit other than your days off,mthat alone will add extra stress. How are you coping at work, bet you just want to scream...prayers and hugs coming your way..

We got jus shy of a foot of snow yesterday, was clear a few moments ago but it's snowing to beat the dickens right now..think I will go out and shovel walkway because if I don't and it snows same I'll never be able to lift the shovel up.

I hung a sign on my office door with an update how Ben is doing etc and requested people not ask me as I was trying hard to "compartmentalize" so I could function.

Oh gosh, that is one thing I didn't think of. Ben does not have will (heck, what do I know?) and I don't THINK Ben put Derek's name on anything! I think the only life insurance he has I bought and designated so....

Smart pat putting an update, people are caring but they don't know how much energy it takes to give updates and how it repeatedly brings feelings to the surface..

Something you should look into asap..I'm thinking maybe that is what Derek was up to..mark 'will' as a priority.

I do not think Derek was intentionally malicious. He is not the brightest crayon in the box and Ben was soft touch. I find out that Ben had been asking Kevin to go get fast food and Kevin would not. Offered to bring in some canned soup etc out of the storage room.... but Derek would! Derek LOVES fast food and Ben encouraged me to think that the fast food stuff I saw was all Derek's and Derek was paying for it himself. THAT was not true based on credit card and debit account that I have found access to.
Derek is not evil, he is stupid, drama queen & embellishes the truth (lies, HE believes).
I will make sure that when his daughter is in town week from Friday we get a will written up and notarized etc.

Pat, you might want to check the bank account, and make sure he is not added to the account.

Pat holding you close to my heart as you go through all of this. Lots of good advice given here. This is such a stressful time for you so know we are all here supporting you.

Well I called the oil company I use and they sent out a guy to check why the infloor heating downstairs wasn't working. It's working now but the guy was here almost 2 hours... a second guy had to be sent out to bring a part. Actually it was a good thing the guy was here as he noticed there was a small leak of oil from 1 of the hoses. Could have turned out very wrong if it had been left go ...... I never go into the boiler room except to put salt in the water softener.

The TH are exhausted. They raced around playing outside while the work man was here. Hopefully they won't get a second wind around 11 pm. Diesel is snoring quite loudly so I know he is in a deep sleep.

Betty when is it you were planning to go stateside again ?

Very cold here and the rain yesterday has made for a very slippery lane. The work truck that came here had trouble getting up 1 of the hills. He was not happy about the condition of the lane. It should be sanded but some of the people on the lane don't want to pay for the sanding.

Not snowing yet but WLs say it will overnight.

She just beams when she speaks of them..of course their being born just after Mike died gave her a new lease on life, that is once the year of not knowing if they would live or not had passed.

A whole year of life & death, goodness, the stress!

No transfer. They called me after I was almost to the hospital. He has to have some kind of virus check and the results won't be ready until late Friday at earliest. This facility does take admissions on Saturdays so he MIGHT go then. You'll understand if I don't hold my breath.

I stopped at Joann's to get the product I needed for a custom American Girl outfit for a coworker. Got out to my car and it would NOT unlock on drivers side. I ended up having to open passenger side, LEAN WAY over with butt in air and trip the unlock lever inside the door. Cherokee is 4 wheel drive with pretty big console, I couldn't just slip over like a bench front seat.

Had a friend over to fix the HUGE draft in the laundry area. Ben had opened up the floor & wall to move the venting and didn't finish the job. I didn't realize what the problem was until I saw the venting stuff just laying out in the garage and put 2 & 2 together. Stop gap measure but it should be easier to keep house warm.

Pat I bet they are doing a swab or blood check for MRSA. They usually swab nose but are otber ways. It goes rapid if an outbreak at rehab centers. Even in kids ward here at hospital they check for it.

Pat - you did not need to be heating the outside!! my oh my, could see the heating bill! If Derek is not the brightest bulb, etc, he's smart enough to be using someone else's card - my goodness, he'd know that much! Yes, check the bank account and a will. My brother had taken my mom to the bank a couple of years ago and had her close out her bank account (with Evelyn as the secondary signatory on it) and opened another one with him as the secondary signatory. Now, the will is in the bank safety deposit and no one has access to it, or her bank account but Stan. Even my other 2 sisters Alice (now passed away) and Ruth who are the executors can see the will. Mom thinks Stan (as the only son) is the golden boy (they did live together for 20 years, and split the bills between them - is he now paying his bills with them "splitting the cost"? She is in a care home and paying rent there!)
You just never know what another person will do, when they're hard up for funds, or think they are.......

what can I say, Ben gave him the card and sent him to the store MANY times. I talked to Ben a little bit about the financial stuff today. It just seem like it's not a subject that is worth discussing because I'm not sure how much he remembers and how much he will retain so not worth the pain.

We do need to pick our battles Pat and you seem to have this problem under control. But if there is an angle you haven't checked I would check again. It could be someone else pulling Derek's strings! Keeping you all in my prayers.

I'm with Barb, one has to pick battles they can win but be on guard..any news re the move?

Just took something for headache,am sure I've a mild concussion, just have to take things easier for a bit. Talked to Judith, told her if it's not storming this agpfternoon that I would take a ride and pick up my goodies, if not likely tomorrow so here is hoping the weather cooperates..

I was up and down twice this morning and just got up and dressed. It all started at 4:30!

Shovelled, cleared my car off and will call a few places in Barrie to see if they have a quilting foot for my janome ac, mine broke as I was doing last quilt for Christmas..most of the shops have been closed all week, not back till Monday so we will see.

Going to have turkey dinner ( about 2 meals left) then off to finally get dressed..call me lazy bones

Quiet day today. Maybe I'll go over to Adrianna's today, and get some knitting done. It's a nice, short walk to her place - she's in the Park and only about 5 house away, but it's not too bad out. minus 15celcius and sunny

Would doubt they could do anything, just have to run its course...Drats was already to go out and storm brewing, maybe I will put off going to town, always tomorrow

Decided a quick trip to foodland, craving sweets after Debbie started talking about goodies Shane made her so dropped into post office

So exciting, was a box from Deb, she had my name in Santa Warren exchange..sure love EVERYTHING in it..to start with, omg when I opened the box my entire house had the nicest scent, bar of goat milk soap, eucalyptus, a gorgeous scarf, very light weight and lacy, find it difficult to wear scarves because of weight but this one is perfect..then the most beautiful hand painted vase, winter scene painted on it, just Sooo pretty, going to put it in plain view..that should have been enough but also included was a sparkling Christmas hanging towel with knitted hanging section to it...so sparkly in the light...

Thank you thank you Deb, big hugs..love it...

I'll take a photo when I find a home for the vase..

Betty, those are beautiful pressies from Deb.

Been to San Antonio and back home. Had to go for my yearly mammogram. Had lunch with Andy and the kids at chick filet. It was a nice but cold day. 30 here in Texas.

They did not move Ben and there are snow warnings for tomorrow and they can't tell me WHEN I'll know about the time for transfer. he can't be transferred until his lab results come back for virus testing they are supposed to have the results "today" but it's 8 here and I called at 6, still don't have them.
I am tired, I am cold and my eyes feel like sandpaper from crying so much. The good news is that I can take something to help me sleep tonight and I'm going to! When I'm overly emotional, I am cold. My sister said she would go with me to Sunnyside whenever the transfer is.

Got up early this morning, dizzy as can be, tried to get mobile a few times but right back into bed..going to have a coffee and sweet and see if the feeling has gone away. It's a sunshine day and I so wanted to go to Barrie, will have to see

They announced they are doing the annual audits this month. I am fortunate to only have ONE account being audited. When I checked on it for accuracy and all forms I noticed that ALL of the forms I sent to the state having not yet been scanned so I have documented them but they cannot be verified. The Lead just said to not sweat it, nothing we can do about it. Grrrrrrrrrr
