Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chateith friends old& new, join us!
Is it bed time yet???
Slept till about 8:30, looked out and saw it was clear out, oh happy days
Checked Michaels sales flyers to best take advantage ofthe sales using the giftcards grands gave me and last day of mega sale tomorrow so threw some clothes on and to Barrie I went..no sooner got there that the weather took a turn for the worse Grrr
Quickest shopping I did
They had a door attachment organizer, another rotating unit, piece to hold ribbon and another metal drawer piece..they were $59.99, buy one get one free, a deal for sure, some blades for my cutter and a few odds/ends..didn't take long to spend those gift cards 😜
Storm all the way home..
Said to self, the next 2-3 days are going to be productive, putting Christmas to bed, doing a good cleaning and then really give craft room an organizing
So I started....living room is done, just need to put tree away but I'm getting tired so telling myself tomorrow is another day but I will try to push myself one more time and go get the tree box, I'd feel better about my day I'd it was put away.
Likely you are shaking your heads, saying"why can't that girl just sit??!
But you will be proud of me, always overdoing putting 20-25 totes away , still heavier than I should be carrying way back there, so today I splurged, bought a sleigh to pull them to the back shed, aren't behaving..
That ziggy has been helping me, isn't that great? NOT
What are you all up to?
This message was edited Dec 30, 2016 5:24 PM
Thanks for the new thread Betty, amazing how quickly the old one fills up.
Nice idea to put the totes on the sled, but you still have to lift to put them on and off again. Please be carefull.
Our house is all cleaned from the Christmas tree and decorations as well. We don't do half you do, but still a chore to set up the miniature village.
I've got them stacked one. Top of the other in the kitchen Lindakay, who knows, maybe an able man or two might drop in tomorrow and they can use the sleigh..not quite 1/2 way but did great..managed to get the Christmas tree in living room and cafe boxed us then wrapped in plastic, now that one I'll leave for someone to carry.
Ziggy is not sure what is happening, no tree to pull ornaments off of
Tomorrow I'll finish the decorations, put all the Christmas quilts in space bags then I can play at organizing craft room..lots to fill 😛
You always have a list of to do's.
Think that is why I manage to get so much done..going to read up on the mondo bag pattern while I lay here, won't be sewing for a tad but I can see if I've everything I need
I have one of those patterns Betty. Cher gave it to me a while ago and it was hidden but I found it when I moved here. Might make a fun New Year's project.
Saw Ben at the hospital but didn't stay long today. He is doing better physically but mentally I have not seen much change in the last few days. Social worker has been unable to find a skilled nursing facility that will take him, so he continues to stay at the hospital. 2nd daughter left today.
Discovered "someone" (99% certain MY nephew Derek) used Ben's debit card while we at the hospital. I have asked for my key back and he has not given it to me. I gave up and spent almost $100 changing the locks on the house. I am FURIOUS at both Ben & Derek. Ben had allowed Derek to use his debit card and run errands for him. Now we are being stolen from!! Key back or not, I would not be comfortable until I changed the locks.
I'm trying to clean house and organize, put away Christmas. Of course I could NOT pass up a turn or two thru the Thrift stores and came home dragging more Christmas stuff.
REALLY scrubbed in the kitchen, cabinets etc. Ben is so hard on all of it, dirties it up FAST. I boxed up most of Ben's cook books. I'm going to sort thru the bookcase in the office. If Ben hasn't used something in a whole year, it's time to re- think the contents. LOTS more cookbooks in the office that are not being used so should be donated. Moving furniture in the office. Looking for a more user friendly layout.
I'm seriously considering ripping out the carpet in the hall & living room this weekend, (Master bedroom another weekend) The carpets icky and I KNOW there is hardwood floors under that carpet. I am sure I can sweet talk my sons & friends to help me when they are done gaming. They meet at our house every Sunday afternoon.
Life is very rough right now. Dealing with too much and I know the work on the house is serving as a distraction from my fears & stress over Ben's condition. I've discovered several "financial irregularities" that have me angry and resentful. The timing sucks but there is nothing I can do about it but deal with it. Ben cannot answer my questions with accuracy, most of the time he does not even know where he is, how can I expect him to answer for bad choices prior?
Oh well.... cope, deal, pray and hope for the best. Do all I can to protect us from further lack of good judgement on Ben's part. How can someone who has been treated so well and generously by Ben take advantage of him like this? I would file a report with Adult Protective Service if I thought it would do any good.
Roflol, Betty sure hope bloomers are always on top of the list!!! Nope I did not miss that....hehee snort that was pretty funny.
Anyways! Please don't overload that sled...love the idea tho.
Glad you got home safely, lol did ya rest a half a minute?
I am so bummed something really wrong with my laptop...think I'm going to asked Brandon or David to fix it for me, I'll even pay.
I hope all of you who are ill and or achy from falling are feeling better gentle Armwraps my friends.
Big time Armwraps Pat, oh my goodness, just know Your in my prayers.
Pat, tummy is just churning as I read your post, what you are going through is beyond words that can comfort you. Think you should indeed report ben's nephew if for no other reason than gpfor piece of mind..
Before you mentioned you were working on nerves I thought the same...please please maybe it's time for you to rest, you cannot keeps going or you will have a breakdown. Hugs coming your way.
Debbie what kind of weather are they calling for ..hope you can change your appts if it's bad
Deb how have you been feeling? No dog shows planned for this time of year?
Barb, never worked with the printed 2 1/2" square base, looks interesting, bought some lovely fabrics in yellows/black/white, perfect for trying it..how come you put it away, didn't like it?
Judy, here is hoping boys can repair it..what is the the first project you plan on doing with your new sewing machine?
Lindakay you will have to email asking for photo's of the kids and their quilts..need a baby quilt, saw a design with teddy bears done same way, thought squares should be more child related than using just left overs..your thoughts?
Karen, how did your day go?
This no sleeping when you know you are tired is for the birds
Everyone is sick. As soon as they feel better they will get pictures sent.
As far as the baby quilt, I think it would look nice in scrappy blues or pinks.
Poor kids, likely want to be playing with their Xmas gifts and here they are sick in bed..
Have to look what scrappies I have
Would be sleeping if a kitty wasn't jumping from headboard onto my tummy
I had put it away because I was in the middle of a quilt. I "didn't want to lose it"!!!!!! Then out of sight - out of mind! /this getting older is for the birds.......
Afternoon everyone..
Didn't sleep in, was in town because who forgot jpkittie food yesterday when she went in to town primarily for that. Grrr you are right Barb, old age for the birds..
Stormy here today, took my time but glad I got home without mishap..thought with going to town and cleaning the house I'd wait to cook turkey tomorrow and invite Greg for his birthday, was just about to call when Mel called, Their best friends Larry and Jaet are having a New Years celebration tomorrow, big outdoor fire, bbq'ing and the works and asked if I'd like to join them..Mel said why not cook it next weekend so that is the plan..know won't spend all aft and evening there but will jointly in for the bbq'ing..Mel will drop off a snowmobile suit for me.
While in town bought 10 rolls of duct tape..just put a sheet of fleecy in each bin and taped lid on so critters will be deterred should they be in the shed..was going to go and get more totes to fill but not sure I want to brave the weather, we will see.
Hungry, so put tortierre's in the oven, cooking potatoes to mash and carrots..can't wait till it's cooked lol
Don't you find the house so dull looking after all the red/green/white is put away..was laughing to myself, so bare, hid things so I could put out Christmas but what to heck did I hide and where did I hide it 😂
We will have to compare notes barb, several ways of doing it, I looked for the metal circles so I could loop the straps through, couldn't find ones big enough..knowing I want to make some for gifts think next week I'll call the fabric shop on Coral island and get the name of where I can order, will order some and have them shipped to Darlene.
Ziggy after being into everything during the night decided to fall asleep on the back of the couch...hmm maybe I should wake him every time he falls asleep so he will sleep through the night.
Pat it's so hard when the snake turns & bites you. I'll bet he's counting on you not reporting him because of Ben. Theft is theft, relative or no. So sorry, warm hugs.
Betty we have 15 here for the week-end. For the most part they have taken over doing for me. Now They've taken a thermos jug of hot chocolate and headed over to the sledding hill. Also gives me a chance to just veg a while.
I've made several of the Mondo bags, they are really big. I bought the pattern at a quilt show but when I saw it had a printed iron on section. I made a copy on my interfacing first. Good thing too as the design penciled on makes it much easier. Takes a wee bit of time but saves you having to get another pattern.
We have a monsterous standing rib roast, Hubby & DGSs are cooking it on the rotisserie outside. Hubby also has a bunch of jerky going. The kids just seem to think it always has to be here. Even the little ones, first thing they ask in the door. Bumpa did you make jerky?
I know this is the gathering place and if by some miracle we do manage to sell, they will be very sad. There are 12 sleeping up stairs in the big loft and all just think it's the normal thing to do.
Today and tomorrow to enjoy and then slowly they will all leave probably until Memorial week-end.
Thanks for suggesting copying the design lines of the 2 1/2" blocks Karen..can you buy preprinted? The fabric shop had a mini and a maxi, think the supplies I have are for the large one..worth doing?
Your gatherings so remind me of the ones Roger and I had at the lake, all the kids would sleep in upper floor of the boathouse, house had people sleeping on air mattresses..great memories..seemed everyone drifted apart, wether it was Roger dying or my selling the waterfront.
Enjoy every minute of it..great that they all realize you need some down time..snowing heavily, hmmm just maybe I'll mAke a hot chocolate...any marshmallows?
Time to eat, guess I missed breakfast and lunch and I'm early for supper lol
Just finished a nice bowl of Norm's homemade chicken soup. Delicious.
Want to be sure to wish everyone a most Happy New Year. May it be a great one for all of us filled with love and peace and joy....
Hugs to you all
Barb
Happy New Year everyone.
*Hugs* Pat - it is indeed sad when someone who has been treated generously turns on you and does something like this. Yes, change the locks. Even if he gives a key back, who's to say he hasn't copied it?
Our decorations & tree got taken down 3 days ago - Wed. It really was taking up too much space. Next year it will be better. Still planning on having Christmas celebration when Susan comes to visit. We're looking at July - summer will truly be here then, and shouldn't be into the windy season. We're wanting to do two things - celebrate Christmas and go camping :-)
Bob's busy insulating the den, now that the electrical is hooked up thanks to the electrician who came on Thurs.
Here's hoping everyone's 2017 is blessed, healthy, and peaceful.
Love & hugs to all of you
I did change the locks, the same day I asked for the key back. Like you, I figured he could have had a duplicate made so it was worth my peace of mind to pay the $100.
With everything that has happened over last couple of weeks, my sister barely got ANY tree up. She settled for Dad's little 2 footer! LOL
Good for you, Pat! Smart move
Happy New Year, Everyone!
I wish for you a Peaceful, Happy, and Healthy 2017
Happy New Year everyone !!
Fireworks started across the lake early last night. Duke handled it fairly well ...... he has come a long way since he came to me.
Wishing everyone peace, health, happiness and love in 2017.
Dianne and the TH
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone,
Must call Greg, it's his birthday today, anniversary of Roger's death so always a bitter sweet day.
Although I'm invited out this afternoon/evening I will see how I feel, this old weather is playing havoc with my bones, I will though spend the day organizing my craft room and take inventory, have to take mom to Buffalo in the next few weeks so can purchase what I need then..will make a 'project to do list' so I know how much backing I need to buy..
Other than that it will be a quiet day..
How about all of you?
Know Karen is smiling earth ear with her family by her side
Dianne, are you snowed in? You don't do snowblowingdo you?
Deb, what kind of weather in your neighbourhood?
Liz, how did your visitwithfamily go?
Know Debbie is exhausted after her travels yesterday, hope good news Tuesday from doc's...how is Paul faring at work
Barb, how is Norm doing working in this weather?
Pat, how is Ben? Any idea how long it will take to get him into a facility? Until then they will keep him in the hospital?
Lindakay, how did the service go for your day?
"m" Lorna spending the day out plowing? How is the granddaughter?
Susan, you had all the materials for the inner construction right? Lucky Bob usable to do the work, renovations are so expensive
Know I'm forgetting someone..no purposely
Good Morning.
Wishing you all Healthy and Happy New Year!
Dads memorial service went very well. I posted the memorial video on my facebook page that my nephew made.
Today is our 18th anniversary, hard to believe we have been married 18 years.
We stayed up till midnight last night and shot off a bunch a fireworks. The whole neighborhood was full of fireworks. A beautiful display!
happy new year all..
visit we had fun! the things that come out of my moms mouth lol
we just shake our head and laugh.
I saw joanns was having 60% off xmas fabric so like I need any more!
had to stock pile a few yards,
now the dreaded put things back in bins till next year its so hard to find homes for some decorations we don't have a lot of storage space so I have to sit and think if it will fit always a chore!
Kenny wants to go to Walmart later and of coarse they have fabric too hope I can behave there.
happy anniversary linda
Happy New Year, ladies! Happy Anniversary, LindaKay!
Went to bed by 10pm last night, but the dogs woke me up barking at the fireworks outside. Quiet day here, doing laundry, cleaning up. Tree is still up and lit, probably will be for a few more weeks. It always looks dark and dreary once it's down, so I'll enjoy it as long as I can.
Happy New Year!
Happy Anniversary to those celebrating......and Betty know how hard this day is for you. Sending big hugs!!!
Was no way I could cancel that appointment. If I waited another day...would have to pay $3,000 as new insurance deductible as of Jan. 1st. BUT doc had "1st avail appointment on it" so they wanted it done. As it is....got there and Insurance still did not approve it...so we had to sign a form saying we would pay if Ins. did not. Grrrrr!!!!
DH is doing Ok. He said he is "pointing and instructing" and work...I don't believe it. Has had ice on hand a couple times.
Going slow here....body aches. Have to give a messy cat a bath as she stinks to high heavens. Not going to go well. She is the only one that is long haired and can't reach the delicate areas to clean well.
And my outside kitty still has not had babies. Dh scratched his head and....maybe we are just feeding her too much and she is fat? Hmmm. She is getting a bit friendlier....so if I can catch her...she will be spayed!!!
I need to put Christmas away. My Mom always said was bad luck to take tree down before New Years.....and blamed her bad years on that! Not to mention she had to have Black eyed peas New Years day! I was just too dang tired to do it any other time. haha
Pat....you might also change the pin number on that card also. Usually you can do it at any ATM machine or sometimes on line if account set up. I am sure someone at bank can help you with it also. Have had a similar issue here....so sure understand. We changed our locks 2 years ago for same reason.
Hugs to all....I need more coffee.
Debbie
Took a break and Lordy so many friends posting, did I ever tell you all how much you mean to me, on difficult days a press and open key and there you all are, cari mg and friendly chatter, don't know what I'd do without you all..all have a special place in my heart..
Everyone is either busy and /or resting..nice to see the resting group..because my Mind seems to drift back in time to manyyearsago and yet seems like yesterday New Years is always a day I keep extremely busy and a day when I make my plans for 2017..something I enjoy doing as I review the year fore and see what I didn't get done..last year was a pretty good year!
I'm hungry so meat pie and taters it is
Kids all came in from playing on the ice & sledding, First hot chocolate, then ice cream for lunch. Grammy rules.
I went to the hospital yesterday, I think Ben is worse. He was "checked out" barely making eye contact and delusional. He is no longer following commands with physical therapist.
The hospital will not have any choice but to keep him until he is 1. Accepted in SNF or 2. Well enough to go home. There is NO where local and they are reaching out to other areas.
I do not think he is coming home in the future and I am trying to prepare for that. Any changes I make in the house will not hinder but enhance him ability to come home. I am also moving out things that are unlikely to be used again. His huge pressure cooker etc.
I missed church this morning, my alarm didn't go off in time. When I did get up it was to SEVERAL inches of snow and falling hard. I'm not sleeping well, I wake up EARLY and then stay up an hour or more, sometimes can then go back to sleep. I'll get more done at home today. .
Hugs to you Betty, anniversary of events can be so hard, especially when then fall on a holiday and you can't avoid them.
Sorry to hear about Ben, Pat. Keeping you in our prayers.
Betty, I agree with Pat. My Mom passed away, day after Mother's day, and it is always so hard to get through.
oh Pat - such a lot of stress. I hope & pray that Ben is comfortable, and this isn't causing him stress (which would cause you more stress). It's all in God's hands, not ours, but we can pray for a good result.
Betty - This is a mixed day for you. Greg's birthday, and the anniversary You have my *Hugs* and prayers.
We went to church today, and really glad we did - there were only about 10 of us in the congregation - love small churches. Afterwards one of the ladies (Audrey) suggested I go to the hospital for the dry socket in my mouth. Dr gave me some antibiotics and a prescription to fill tomorrow. Told me to call my dentist tomorrow, when they're open. I am SO grateful to the Audrey. Never thought of going to the hospital, and of course Dr's offices are closed during the hospitals, so thought I was TSOL. I am SO grateful. It would then look like I can have my surgery - the emerg Dr said that my mouth would have stopped my knee surgery. I'm glad I was right, and even more glad that it looks like things will be a "go" for my knee surgery.
Hooray for 2017, our year of healing!!
Oh Pat, it's the hardest thing to accept when one knows deep inside they are losing the battle..you will not sleep well, you will be exhausted and still won't sleep, a battle between body and mind..you will have unbelievable energy, then none..go with the flow, best you can do is grab what minutes you can, mega cat naps.
Is there a program at your work that would allow you to take a paid leave?
So wish I lived closer.
Karen does the family leave tomorrow? You will find it so quiet
Susan, with hospital care today you will not have to pay dentist fees..here is hoping nothing changes re your surgery
Lindakay lived the memorial piece done for both your mom and your dad.lhe did a great job
Was suppose to go out but I'm just too comfy..hot bath and early night is in order..
As I cleaned found projects that need done, think we'd best make 2017 a 24 month year just so I can get 1/2 of them done
Some left today, the rest tomorrow. Bless their hearts, my big strong grandsons moved my furniture in. I haven't had my bedroom furniture in 7 years.
It was getting messed up in the garage. I think most of it can be repaired. I so appreciate having grands who are so ready to help out..They've taken over for me this week-end.
Would you believe the thief nephew Derek & his SO went to the hospital today and told them he would take Ben home and be his caregiver! THAT is not going to happen and the Social worker got a lot more than what she bargained for when she called me to tell me that Dr. wants a family meeting tomorrow at 10.
I've called Ben's daughters, one is going to get restraining order stuff in order against Derek.
Karen, those grands want you around for a long time so the help they give is a big 'I love you' gesture.
UNBELIEVEABLE is the only thing I can say, what I could have said would surely get me kicked off DG....how can any of them make decisions on Ben's health? Likely he is looking for financial gain..shaking my head, blood pressure went up 10 degrees, can't imagine what yours is.just beyond words..glad Ben's daughter will take action.😡😡😱🤐
Hoping he doesn't show up for the meeting..

I am eager to hear what MD says, I can assure you Derek is not going to get his hooks again into Ben. I can't believe it! Of course Ben said "OK... ya... I want Derek as my caregiver."
Karen I loved the photos of your family sledding on FB. They all looked like they were having a blast.
Oh Pat my heart aches for you. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.
Happy Anniversary LK.
Guess someone across the lake is having their New Year's party tonight. Fireworks have been going off since 7 pm. Poor little Duke has put himself into his crate.
I need to do a big move of wood into the car port tomorrow. It sounds like Tues could be freezing rain here so I want to get it done.
Is it just banks and government offices that are closed tomorrow ?
