My son has 2 Maine Coon cats and has for several years now. The personality of a MC is very different than many cats. They have an interesting vocal, the breed is known for liking water and yes, they get BIG. Typically bond well with "their person" but not overly friendly to others. They NEED to be brushed like many long hair cats. The hair is VERY thick. They get a great looking "mane" like a lion.
Your little guy is very likely a mixed,

Thanks Pat, yes not pure bred...very torn between getting it or staying without one.did your dad get to come home? Your extra day off is Friday right, how are you doing with the longer days?

We had a Maine coon cat too Betty and he was the best cat we ever had. He was Norm's buddy but was wonderful with everyone. He was born in a cabinet in Stacy's bedroom along with three others. We kept him and one sister. He was such a love and even when Brandon was a toddler he would let him pull his hair and such without a single mishap. We found him to be a most gentle cat that loved to be on your lap or the back of your chair or just nearby. We loved him so much.

Well Barb, said I would go and see him tonight, almost feel I'm being uncaring to Missy, am sure you know what I mean, not yet a week

LeeAnn (niece) says same about hers as does Paul, hard decision

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning, still battling a bug here. I have been down and out since Saturday.

Betty, Missy would want you to be happy.....and supervised. That little guy looks like he can do the job!!! AND Yes, he does look like my Huck a bit. I LOVE Maine Coons!!! Such purrsonality.....loving...and really are good company.

My friend Bonnie in Florida has 3 of them....and when I went to visit her....I was in heaven! They are so fun. I think just a tad bigger than Missy.....all depends on their bone structure. But Missy was a well built girl herself! I think Bonines kitties are about 18 to 20 lbs. I just love the Coon ear tufts and vocals.

My stamina to sit up is not good. First time I have been on the actual computer since Saturday. Going to take a break

I hope you are feeling better soon Debbie.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The MDs will not make rounds for another few hours. I told my sister I think the doctors are waiting for Dad to say he is ready and he is waiting for them to say it. Really nothing more they doig now that cannot be done at home.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Perhaps Pat he will be released this afternoon,,know it makes it easier for you and your sister, maor got (old age) lol but how far from you does your sister live? She is the one you sew with.

Going to town this afternoon, need supplies to finish off the Christmas workshop project..need a bpnew sander belts as well..don't want to wait to finish off the kits.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

So exciting, contemplating a new member of your house, Betty. Coon cats look adorable! And if (he?)'s good company, all the better! Love of a furry in our lives is never a bad thing :-) *Hugs* Betty

Building Inspector is on his way - hooray - Bob's nervous, anxious & excited. Need to know that everything's a "go" for him to continue and that there's no tearing out of anything. Have the ice shield up, so the den stays dry, now to see what the Inspector says........
My knees are doing better - stronger. It's all that exercising I'm doing, plus the fact that (aside from my knees) my legs are pretty darned strong. It was all that walking that I've been used to doing all my life, and once I knew what exercises I could do, I've been working on doing them. They're working well :-)

The MRI I thought I was having today was put off until Friday because they're still waiting for approval from my insurance. Since I was counting on the day off work, and Sissy had a 1pm vet appt, I decided to just take the whole day off. I probably should have gone in for the morning, but it was fun playing hookey! Not that I did anything much at home, but it was nice being home. I'll end up taking a long lunch hour on Friday to fit it in, but that should work. Sissy's fine, got some antibiotics for her ear infection, and have an appt for a teeth cleaning for her next Tuesday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got back from my niece's house, the kitties are just too adorable, didn't come home with one, guess it's just to soon..she said she would keep it till Monday for me to think about it..think June will take it if I don't...another thing is you see these kitties all playing together and how lonesome it would be to take it away from the others ..big sigh

Deb, glad you enjoyed your day, you are always so busy with dogs and dog shows that a day for you was welcomed I'm sure. Sharon has a show I think in Syracuse n.y. She also goes to Orlando Florida first week in December, so much involved in these shows. Let's hope they get insurance approval and you can have the MRI

Susan, did Bob get approval?

Morning all.

Light mist and a high of 50 today, beautiful weather for this time of year.

Not much happening today, morning to finish up the dg workshop projects today so I can get them packed tomorrow.

Making a list for Buffalo Christmas list...hard when I'm really done.. Guess I'll have to shop a bit at Joanns. Lol

What are you up to today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You will get another cat when you are ready.

We are getting ready to go to town for a few groceries, and I have to stop and do my 6 month lab work.
50 here this morning as well, and a little foggy.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Dad discharged yesterday. Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers.

Update us on inspection, MRI and all the other stuff going on with our DG friends!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, something to think about also. My "mama kitty" who lives in my garage is due to have another little soon I think. If my estimate is right....Thanksgiving time. That will give you until probably January to be ready......and you can take two siblings.
I will deliver personally if you decide you want one. I have not been able to pet Mama yet....but she is getting more friendly and now sits about 2 ft from me and eats. She let me care for the last litter along with her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat, glad your dad. Home, let's hope that is the end of hospital for a bit.

Debbie, wouldn't that be something, would it be possible to bring them across the border?

Ate my Kentucky fried dinner last night, for lunch I'm having Missy's.

Had a friend drop in this morning, I often talked about getting a can crusher and lo and behold she remembered and got me one..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I will check it all out. I believe if they are under 6 months in age I just need maybe a vet certificate they are healthy

That way you will be back from your Florida trip....and home for a bit to bond with kitties.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Timing on the litter of kittens at Debbie's sounds perfect. I know when I got my last, the rescue group insisted, since I didn't have any cats at home, that if I wanted a kitten, I should get two. With dogs, all you need is a health and rabies certificate, but the kittens will be too young for rabies. You may have to tell them at the border that they are just coming with you for your trip, and not mention that they are immigrating to Canada!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great idea Deb, yes Debbie, I could even go to Buffalo and pick them up, likely by then I'd be more settled and my Christmas travelling over

Been putting kits together, tired so think I will take a nap

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, the last litter was so cute. 2 orange marmalade & white ones, a black and white chested and a little gray multi like the mama. The father is around here too, a long haired black male and beautiful. My intentions is to catch them both and get fixed....even if they live outside permanent. BUT they both evade the trap like crazy.
I am hoping will be easier when she has kittens.

Omg Debbie, here I am ohh'ing and ahh'ing
They are just too,adorable

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That little gray one looks like he is ready to take on the world!!!! So cute.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm partial to black cats - grew up with one called Boxer, cuz she always boxed at the coats in the hallway, as they were hanging from the hooks lol

The Building Inspector came by yesterday @ 2pm
Turned out Bob'd built the addition beautifully, BUT what it was on needs to be adjusted. He was supposed to put 10mm poly on the ground before the cement pads & pressure treated lumber, and the beams were supposed to be 2 x 10s (we need 9 of them), not just silent floor joists.
Bob went to our hardware store (Leo's), and they'll give us the supplies we need, and we'll pay them when our pension comes in at the end of the month hurray . They'll deliver the supplies tomorrow sigh Snow's coming......
Bob will have to jack up the whole den (emptying it of tools & ladders) and put the poly down first, then add the beams beside the current joists, and lower everything back. He'll have to do it one side at a time....... sigh Guess we'll have to call Ken back to help......

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's sure quiet around here today..........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,
Busy busy Susan, tomorrow I leave at noon for Buffalo, doing 2 kits per participant, means 20 lanterns to cut, drill and get supplies for each ready so don't want to start until I'm finished packaging. Girls come tonight and I have to sweep, vacuum and get wood to fire pit. Always a big undertaking but well worth it when the gals get them done..imagine this is our 10th Dg Christmas workshop..we can always blame it on Liz and Judy as they so wNted the vopictorian sleighs or was it the Victorian Santa's 😜

Drats that is not good about extra work you need done but a pain so close to sun and $$$ shortage.

Sorry to hear you have to do more work Susan.

Betty, that is a lot of kits. Your car will be full when you go to Buffalo!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, always lots to mail..take over almost as much as I bring back lol

Greg had to make a decision re his job, deadline was Monday...he had
S worked for the company he is with for 30 years, last day is Wednesday...I m just sick to my tummy over it..had hoped he would have stayed where he is

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Why did he have to make a decision? Will he get a retirement package?

Victoria Harbour, ON

A company in Barrie, worldwide clients want to start a new division same as Greg manages, offered him 45k more than he makes now, anything over 40 hrs he will get compensated..present job offered him 25k more plus a few other things, truck same as now etc etc. I believed after 30 years he would have stayed with his firm but not!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! Hard to leave a company you have been with for so long, but the pay raise is something to consider as well. I hope it works out for him.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hoping so..he is a go getter but as a mom you always worry?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

wow - leaving a company after 30 years...... don't know many people nowadays who stay 10 years, let alone 30! It sure is a big decision for him.
That is a lot of kits - so happy to hear you have the energy to do them! Not so very long ago you absolutely wouldn't have had this energy.

Today we got the delivery of the materials Bob needs to redo the supports.
We went to the Senior's Silver Willows meeting. They have it on the 3rd Thurs of every month.and today their speaker was talking about Elder Abuse. After the meeting I went and privately spoke to the 2 presenters about what Bob & I went through this past year, and that one of the Torrington residents (Margaret) approached me asking if we knew Bud & Norma (our neighbours in Midfield who are now the friends of Marcel & Carolyn, and I told Margaret that Bud & Norma do Not know where we are - we chose not to tell them. I hope she understood what I was saying.........
The two presenters told me that I should tell Bill & Linda (owners of the Park here) about our concerns with Marcel & Carolyn stalking us and emotionally abusing us.
Oh boy.......really thought we'd left this behind us. I really did not want to go to Bill & Linda about this......

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure you will make the right decision, don't think I'd be going to them, many take offence to be drawn in however little to drama that isn't their own. Will bob have help raising the edition? Sure hope so

You are so right, could never undertook it, took me eons to get this one done, seems I tire so easily. Next Thursday I go for a monitor for blood pressure once again..need to be there at 11:30 am and have to return it Friday by 11:30..always something.

Got the craft room swept, in the morning I've a few pieces to cut, look or cut something for the two little boys Debbie keeps after school..thought maybe the same as our project but small mason jars..will see how Mapuche time I have but will include something for sure.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I agree, Betty - bringing our landlords into this drama is not something I want to do.
The presenters also mentioned that I should talk to the RCMP about it - forewarned is forearmed, they said. I still have the police report where the Calgary Police advised our tenants that "this is not the way to deliver documents" and that we didn't press charges. I just hope that Margaret doesn't go blabbing to Norma & Bud where we are, and if she does, that they don't mention to Marcel & Carolyn where we are.
I'm going to just keep my head down and enjoy the area we now live in.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I hope your current home stays drama free and others mind their own business.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks, Pat - I don't want drama here, just peace & quiet

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, what a sunshine day calling for a high of 61, can you tell me how they are calling for snow Sunday? Hope not.

Was up extremely early and got the woodcutting room cleaned/vacuumed, wood out to burning pit...packages eyed to be put in my car then I can sit and relax.

Going to do my hair, pack for the weekend, have upstairs vacuumed but now need to dust, amazing how the sawdust filters through the air.

Susan, best to keep low key and out it in the past otherwise it will open pandora's box....front windshield is large so we can see the road ahead of us, the backup mirror tiny as we are leaving the road travelled behind us..think that is the route to take..you wouldn't want drama where you are..enjoy it!

Pat, glad you are making your thanksgiving a lot easier with a gathering of finger foods only, with your dad's health failing it's for the best. Meow long do you think it will take you to finish washing and curling dolls hair then making packages with outfits? Sure is a lot of work, with this project you should have earned your angel wings.

Well, best not sit too long as I'll fall asleep, about 3-3 1/2 hr drive once I pick Linda and Suzanne up then Rita in the city..likely more like 4 hrs so about 4pm arrival

Gab later

Lyndonville, NY

Oooo excited! Today is the day you are on the way!

I am still set to meet up Sunday morning....what time? I know you are all early risers.

I have to go to Rochester tomorrow afternoon but I sure hope this snow storm goes far far the other way! Don't want any part of it, not even flurries....til I can get home and settle on Tuesday from all my running the next few days.

Waving to all....
Debbie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Point well taken, Betty

oh........ memory is so bad...... I was supposed to bring 5 doz cookies to our church for today & tomorrow's Cookie Walk, and completely forgot which days it was for, so was going to bake tonight and bring on Sunday........ *blush*
Trying to install a script on Bob's computer - I can add it to mine, but not his - oh well
I sent a msg to the developers, and hope they can help

I'm making some Christmas dishcloths - never knitted with cotton before, but hey - Christmas IS coming, right?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Settled in for the night, gorgeous weather..went to post office and mailed all the kits..when we got to hotel the girls had cards for me

They gave me a $90 Joanns gist card for arranging summer trip..the Linda gave me a $60 Joanns card as an early Christmas gift, sales are great at Joanns so thought I could buy something now vs later
