Morning all,

Big day for you my American friends and as much so for the rest of the world
By day's end some will be thrilled and others not so..prayers are with you and your country!

On the cool side this morning, just getting ready to grab a jacket and het garbage to the roadside before the girls get here.

Still gathering ideas for my Santa Warren gift box

Gab in a bit

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mornings everyone.
I am enjoying my visit to Michigan. Dad is in a good mood. I am going to visit my uncle this afternoon.
Everyone here is getting to ready to vote.

Lyndonville, NY

So happy you are enjoying time with your family LInda Kay I know they love seeing you also.

A few busy days here Just getting caught up.

I had my cardio update yesterday. Well, it is not all in my head what I am feeling.
It showed up on the heart monitor that I am having some extra beats and at one point he thought gymnastic episode. "Overall" nothing to worry about at this time....but "Down the road" might need some intervention if it keeps up. Still thinks
it is tied into the virus or whatever is going on in the body.....and wants to find that out before adding more chaos to the system. "If not...may be looking at medication or mechanical intervention" (pacemaker) down the road. Egads....no

Have the little guy here today. He is in cartoon and cookie mode after school.

Very quiet here today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is good news/bad news Debbie, mat least you feel better about them thinking it's not in your head. Do you think you will be able to meet me at Cracker Barrel a week Sunday? Could give you your projects and I'd send something that you could do with the young fellows..let me know

I'm sure you are having a grand time Lindakay..bet dad is smiling from ear to ear..
Got your skives on?

Back to band saw

Lyndonville, NY

Yes already put it on the calendar we are meeting. All set!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great..

Got a box out, bought something to put in my Santa Warren box, how exciting it must be for Dianne knowing who has whose name

Verona, ON

It is Betty.. it is !!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish the Th didn't tell you who has which names. Lol

Lyndonville, NY

LOL Thundering heard can't keep secrets! HAHA

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I was too embarrassed to ask what TH was, now I KNOW! Thundering herd, I guessed it was a bunch of dogs but the TH wasn't coming to me, thanks for letting me in on that DebbiesDaisy!

Verona, ON

I'm sorry Pat I should have introduced the TH to you. I have 2 Rottis Diesel and Chaos plus Duke a rescue GS from Kentucky. He barks with a twang. Someone here on DG labelled them that and it is very fitting.

Debbie you are so right about the TH not being able to keep a secret. If 1 of them does something wrong 1 comes to tattle.

LK I am so glad you have been able to spend time with your family. Did your dad know you were coming ? I have no family - have 1 brother but we have not spoken since 2005, my sister died in 2005. My sis had 2 boys, both in their 50's who are basically agraphobics. I have 2 other nephews and 3 nieces that are my brother's from 2 marriages and I haven't seen or spoke to them in 20 years. yep we are a really close family.
I'm still diddling around about finding something for dinner. Think I will just have some crackers and make sure I have more than a banana for breakfast.
Dianne and her TH

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

GS?

Verona, ON

German Shepard Pat. I was just too lazy to type it all out.
Had my banana but I think I will have some cereal so I can keep up with Frank. This is when I miss having a pickup.
Rather gray here but it was great to have some light out there by6 - 6:30.
Dianne and her TH

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, my dad was not aware that I was coming to visit. He was very excited when I met him going down the hall.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Looks like it might rain here this morning so a quick trip to back shed for a Xmas tree and a tote, Lordy I'm flattening the grass making a pathway with so many trips

Barb, just made a template for the placemats you sent me, now to add the 1/4 inch around each piece and hope they fit together. Lol. It's the pattern with the moose applique'd

Lindakay, he will so miss you when you return home, bet it breaks your heart to leave him...did you manage to get to any fabric shops lol

Linda just called, I told them I wasn't taking my car shopping in Buffalo, just too small to fill with Christmas purchases, msuzanne a d Rita's vehicles aren't dependable and Linda's is small but she said her sh David will let us take his mini van..a shopping we can now do 😜

Victoria Harbour, ON

4 more totes, lights and outdoor pieces to set out and I'm ready for Christmas..no lights turned on inside/outside until Sarurday..checked weather network, look like we will be nearing 50 for next 2 weeks..

Kyle dropped in, he was excited..since Saturday he sold 3 vehicles valued at $135,000 so good commission

Victoria Harbour, ON

How did your day go Lindakay..what did you all get up to?
Not many more before you head home, is it Saturday?

Thea did look for the paper clip to add photo of the tree skirt top, couldn't find a paper clip so adding it here for you

We have been busy running around. Last night we went to the beach, lake Michigan to watch the sunset.

Linda Kay that is beautiful.....and looks relaxing.

Is it cold there? We heard blue words for Saturday!!! SNOW

Verona, ON

Oh LK that photo is just breath taking. Do you think there is a difference from your sunsets at home to the ones in Michigan? Of course sunsets over water anywhere are beautiful.

Went and got my new glasses this morning. What a difference. I have bifocals back and I can see to read both books and on the computer. I won't be spending a goodly part of my day looking for my specs.

Karen how are you doing ? Feeling better ?

Temp has really dropped today here. Like Debbie I actually have had to put socks on the last 2 days. I went out in my bare feet this morning to bring some wood in. Won't be doing that again today. Socks and shoes on for sure.

Betty how is Thea? I miss her posting here.

Saw something this morning that just horrified me. I know successful moose hunters do this but have never seen a buck displayed like this. Now don't get me wrong hunting is not a no no for me. In this area venison is a mainstay in people's diet as are fish, partridge and wild turkeys. As I was driving down #38 a truck was coming towards me with a huge buck strapped to the hood with the head facing me.

Good for Kyle Betty. Some people are just meant to be salesmen. My BIL was one.

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love that onto Lindakay, two gorgeous ladies.

Debbie, think weather will be ok for our trip, could change though.
As promised went to doc's..talked me into a flue shot at same time, last time I got flu shot I was extremely ill..anyway, going to try me on new meds for pain, more Tylenol 3, said marking on my neck wasn't something I have to worry about so all is well

Made a quick stop to Canadian tire, could have spent hours, Christmas area was so inviting but I stayed away, bought wire for workshop project and a roll of lovely blue ribbon for another..perhaps tomorrow when I go to town for wood I'll take time to go and look around,

Did manage to quilt the tree skirt I did but might not put the slit in it for tree skirt, it's the size that the finished piece is suppose to be but heck, think you would need a 10' tree as the skirt is so big..will wait till tomorrow to decide what to do

Girls come shortly best I get something to eat

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sunsets are much more beautiful here. It is supposed to be 30 here tonight but no snow predicted.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - went to Calgary today, for my pre-admission app't with two Drs - one re: my current health for the surgery in Jan, and the other to discuss my choice of anaesthetic - general anaesthesia, or spinal. As far as I'm concerned, I want to be totally unaware of what's going on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

With heavy heart and tears in my eyes I must tell you I had to euthanize Missy tonight.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh no. I never saw that coming. I am so sorry, I know you will miss her terribly. She was your quilt tester extraordinaire and constant companion.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - SO sorry to hear this. Missy was a family member here, and she will be missed by all of us. I wish I could just reach out and give you a hug - I can't begin to think how you must be feeling. She's gone over the rainbow bridge and she's playing like a kitten again.
Bless you, dear friend.

Pacifica, CA

betty,
oh no, so sorry for you loosing your missy,
so enjoyed her working with you in your craft room she will be missed.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So sorry for your loss, Betty. I always loved the photos of your crafts with her helping out, testing the materials for softness and comfort. I will miss that.

Deb

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Can't tell you sorry I am about Missy. She was such a love and always was involved in all you did.... She is with Sailor now and they are together once again......
Gentle hugs to you my friend....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry Betty. ((((((((HUGS))))))))

Verona, ON

Oh I am so sorry Betty. I enjoyed seeing your pics of Missy helping you with your work. (((Betty)))

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So very sorry Betty Hugs to you. We all enjoyed seeing Missy here and will miss her very much.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you all,
Headed downstairs this morning and started to cry, had to come back upstairs because I've never been without her asking her I was doing with a craft..she knew which was best because she coveted that piece

Everything in the house is a reminder..just put her things away

Lordy it's like losing a human

Lyndonville, NY

Yes I am still shocked from last night. Didn't sleep well. I was worried about Betty all night and that
empty feeling.

When Betty went to bed, while I was visiting, Missy and I shared some conversations.
And her little "Tap tap tap" When I wasn't petting her....we did not ignore the Princess!

Definitely saw her love of the craft room and assisting Betty and the girls with everything.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Yes, it is like loosing a member of the family....a best friend

Susan I am with you - knock me out completely. I think the sounds would drive me crazy.
Wind is picking up here this afternoon. But the sun is shining.
Need to stoke the fire.
Dianne and her TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, they told me that if I get a General, after the surgery I may feel more "discomfort" before the pain meds kick in, whereas with the Spinal I will feel no pain at all - it's 4 to 6 hours before the General totally kicks in, but I won't be in terrible pain, but some.....
I think I could take a bit more pain and not be aware during surgery.......
After I get home, she asked if I was ok giving myself needles - NO, Not Ever, Nyet, Nada........ cannot do it. Someone would have to give them to me. She's talking about blood thinners so I don't clot in my legs. I'll just have to take pills and maybe the needles, and be active (as much as I can be, in winter......)

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, so sorry about Missy. She was such a part of this thread. She has been part of us for a long time. Pets are such a blessing but when they cross over the rainbow bridge, our hearts are broken. I hope Missy finds our clan up there because there are so many of them and she will fit right in.

Susan, I am with your being completely out. But watch these medical individuals when they say "discomfort". Means something to you that is entirely different than what they are thinking.

Linda, so thrilled about your visit to see your family. I bet your father was surprised to see you walking down the hall.

So much has happened to all of you since I had back surgery and recovered. I have finally made the turn to near normal. I am still having some difficulty walking the dogs and gardening. With gardening, this is our busy time to get spring flowers planted. We are still in the low 80s and have tied records 3 days in a row. A change is moving down from the North so we will have lower temperatures soon.

I did have a real eye opener about withdrawal from Oxycontin. I was on 5mg 4 times a day. The milder form. When I got the shot for my bout with sciatica, I was finally pain free and quit taking the pain pills. I guess you do not do that. I, at first, thought I had food poisoning. My son-in-law finally cme up with drug withdrawal. My daughter called my pain doctor, who is her next door neighbor and he said to get right back on th pain pills. Then on Monday, call his office and he will arrange dosage that will serve to get me gradually off the pills. After the gradual reduction, I still had a 2 week battle with milder symptoms.

Daughter just showed up with dinner. I will return.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sharon, glad to read you got through the pain pill withdrawal. It can be a tough process and so many end up with addiction. Good for you and your daughter for making sure you were okay.....
