Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

The thread is getting too long. Yup, I ride from Spring back into Winter now. My seeds are sprouting alraeady, but I have so many, I am only crossing fingers and hoping these cardinals leave them alone! More green Ju, chuckl. Plant potted, good roots, sights along route 6 to Waco

Robin , No not yet , But it will be if the seeds fail ,,
wondering What it is ? are you ? he , he ,, It's Chlorophyll ,,
Part of the formula the seeds are filled with ,,
7days to get the lemon seeds to sink , and fill ,,

Above and these are not good pics , and only two of three seeds look to be Viable
If the largest above , does not pop a root out in a couple days it probably won't grow either , I consider it at myself to be a good try though ,
I am trying for a general use formula ,,
Kitt a cross post there ,, Hey !!! ,, neat !!! ,,, Sprouts , Feeders ,, Flowers , Big Rigs , old Barn scenery , and Go Aggies !!! Who could Ask For More !!!
You get a drive in the Country too ,, WOW !!!

Robin I wanted to thank you for replying also , I am Giddy today , lol
When I get nearer What all is in the mix I will post it as a process if I can ,
I got a mix of 50 Bamboo seeds of a few different types .
I am trying those also ,,
Mostly the one process of letting the seeds soak until they sink I needed to remember , Most of the Time , in the formulas given , if they don't sink , they never do , and info says then the still floating seeds are no good ,, ( ??? Questioning that I am )
If and When I get the Germinating part correct , That I have not remembered since 2009 or so , Then The Fun Begins ,,, I get to try to make the bamboo make seeds before it 100 Yrs old ,, Yikes ,,,
Thank you and all for teaching me that ,,

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Yeah, your teasing me Ju with your secret formulas. If you don't tease, why would I stay tuned or come back for next week's episode?

I can't buy 'the floaters aren't good' either, one little air bubble will prevent a seed from sinking.

Oh my Kitt, you've got lots of room for plants (blooms to enjoy already too)...nice!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Robin, My thought ,, lol ,, Goes like this .. The Chlorophyll . replaces the Bubbles , inside and outside of the seed ,. The seed will fill puff , and sink eventually (patience required) The when placed , the seed begins processing light ,
The cells of the seed are activated by the Chlorophyll to elongate , Whether (IAA) is there or not ,
I have a small amount of Homebrew IAA (Indole-Acetic Acid ) Auxin for cell elongation that I mix into the planting mix ,

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I'm TRYIN to understand all this talk of clorphil, but you know if I can't spell it, I sure can't understand it LOL I agree, Kitt, you gotta nice ride and good scenery... do you need plants? let me know when you want some.. :)

Ju, do you have 50 kinds of bamboo? golly, here I thought there were only about 3 kinds LOL
Jen, this house hasn't seen progress yet. Just had him out for a whole two hours today.. got the frame up for the back patio, steps and side steps. *sigh* Ibeams are still scattered on the floor down there.. it is a mess, and my joy of gardening seems diminished atm.. Are you still freezing up there? I am anxious to start sending stuffs out..
Robin, thanks for the floaters not being viable, I have proved that wrong many times.
Gypsy, I want a POND!!!! you need some EE's to go around that area..

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra ,, You could actually make Chlorophyll , you know , when wet grass turns your hands or gloves green from cleaning a mower ,,
Green in plants and leaves is Chlorophyll . I am using purchased though , liquid in a bottle , it leaked in a bag case a little from the bottle getting here ,, Messy ,, green for two day if you touch any ,
I have a couple of other things in the mix ,
I have some Giant Timber Bamboo , (can't spell the biological name )
Green Panda (Fargesia Rufa )
And a mixed bag of 50 seeds that are suppose to be Hardy , But I have no idea of what they all are (Suppose to be at least five different ) Black bamboo , Golden Bamboo ( Golden being the invasive your way ) But I don't know , some I will be able to tell what they are Others not ,,
Many times though as far as floaters , as with Bamboo , I had a floater germinate once years ago ,, Unless they sink ,, no grow ,, However ,,Sometimes you have to soak them a long time to get them to sink , so they will grow ,, Nobody says that ,,,

As before , 5or 6 days soaking to sink , this in 3 days ,, Baby Rhizome ,, Giant Moso .

oops ,,, Debra still freezing here this week at night ,,

Fort Worth, TX

I am afraid the chlorophyll went over my head. I think we should all pull up a chair out by the pond, listen to the waterfall and sip iced tea and discuss the details.

I am cooking chili with bison, best get back to the kitchen and complete my experiment. Have rain coming in and a cold rainy day tomorrow, will be nice to have my clean kitchen and a pot on the stove on simmer.

Good night all.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

I agree Gypsi. We can even put some chlorophyll into the glasses and sip some iced green tea.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Goodness you all are up late tonight. Not sure of your time zone, but it is almost 10 o'clock here. JU, is that bamboo the one you started last fall? If so, it has done real well. So, what do you use the chlorophyll for JU? In the soil, fertilizer, or ??
Whoops, forgot to tell my daughter something and she hits the sack at 10. ttyl, jen

Fort Worth, TX

I was up til 1. clean kitchen, finished cooking dinner at 11 pm. I am paying for it today

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Jen the Bamboo in the Bag came from a rhizome a very tiny start , The seeds are just now beginning to grow again ,

I am "Chlorophyll popping " seeds .. The process is like this
Chlorophyll Some "Special water "
Chlorophyll soak the seeds until they sink in a small container
The water is uncorrelated so far as to parts per ,
but is as or contains
Vitamin C
Half Capful of Hydrogen Peroxide
Two Capfuls Cider Vinegar
Filtered water
Small amount of Ammonia

This in quart garden spray bottle garden
Seeds are soaked entirely in Chlorophyll to begin with ,
When planted in Half starter mix
Half used Coffee Grounds The seedling are watered with the Special Water ..

You know I use to pay a dime for booklets that taught this in the 60's .. lol
seedling today

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

awwww.. I feel like a godparent looking at your babies, JU..
Gypsy, I'll be right over.. bison is really good in chili, Joe makes it a lot, also lamb chili, buffalo, and pork chili. He hasn't done a chicken chili yet.
gray, cloudy and cooler today, in the 50's. Wish the foundation was done and covered, if it rains, we are in BIG TROUBLE.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra Hey Thank you ,, How about using the transporter and Beaming some over that chili this way ,, lol

And Gypsi and Jen ,, I fell asleep last night saying good night , lol

Fort Worth, TX

it is good chili! I am pleased with my clean kitchen and my experiment now that I am awake. I have fed chickens and the chicks in the greenhouse. I gave the bigger chicks plenty of food yesterday to save myself a trip to their pen. The greenhouse is so cheerful on a rainy day, for all it is small

Plenty to propagate with. I think I have 2 cuttings of the Marguerite Daisy and one Blue Daze rooted so far.

now more flowers and chicks. The Brazilian Buttonflower, center pic up above, came as a seedling in a pot of hummingbird salvia that I paid 50 cents for at Ace Hardware, the gal working in the nursery pointed it out to me and told me the salvia had been near their mature plants, so I marked it. Not a bad looking flower but it is tropical so without my little greenhouse would have lost it for sure. Not sure how to propagate geraniums but I have a lot to work with, and verbena too. ajuga is reproducing itself, it LOVES the lavarock tray above the fish (yes there are fish under a lot of those plants, old windows make great lids and there is owens corning pink wrapped around their tank under black contractors trash bags)

and now for some fairly bad chick shots. It is dark under the plant shelf on a cloudy day before the lights kick on. these are the January 14th babies, plus 3 buff orpingtons from the feed store. I had wanted to try buffs, and they should be hens.

Gypsi That all is wonderfully Pleasant to see , This time of year here , is sort of ,sort of ,,lol Very nice the Flowers and Chick Birds

Fort Worth, TX

I grew up in the midwest Juhur - there are a Lot of things about Texas I hate, but winter isn't one of them.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Thanks for naming the Buttonflower Gypsi, I was going to ask because I love it. There's nothing like a greenhouse to be in when it's a little too chilly outside. Can you handle the Chicks?

Makes me wonder about what is hate worthy about Texas other than the hot dry summers. I'll be looking for a warmer climate when I retire and have thought about Texas.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

With me in Texas Gypsi ,, Black widows were everywhere ,, I was not fond of those ,, Use to have a Beautiful Tarantula that lived under the porch , Sigh , Texas ,,
A sea of Horned toads back then ,

Much better the goings so far ,, I am sitting here thinking of all the seeds I have wasted , now that I remember how to pop germinate seeds .. Wow ,, memory loss and such is mind boggling ,,

Horned toads are gone now, fire ants and toxic poisons. Frack wells all over, open brine ponds near them, injection wells for used frackwater causing earthquakes.
Mineral rights trump land rights, fortunately I own both of mine. Denton tried to ban fracking in city limits, Texas legislature passed a law making illegal for cities to ban fracking.

Most of what is wrong with Texas are dirty politicians and the oil/gas industry. Funny what was right with it was oil and gas til they learned to frack and make a mess. Our economy is somewhat diversified, which is good.

But there is not much wilderness left and more disappears under mcmansions and shopping malls every year.

What's right with Texas, gonna be 60 tomorrow, and fairly solid people. (except city hall and state government, absolute power corrupts absolutely).

Can't handle chicks in the greenhouse pen. It is 7 ft long and too much run room to catch them. when I move them out I will be able to handle them again.

Gypsi That last was my sisters favorite reply to about everything for years and years ,
My family history is River industrial , All the old transportation routes

I would like to live in a concrete pole house in a flood plain , but I won't ever make it , one of those oh well unacheivable want things lol

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Texas. There is NOWHERE like Texas. We have our own special poem. We can have all 4 seasons in one day. It may not be necessarily the bigger and better, but it is definitely full unadulterated whole dunks of everything. Winter is decent, but rain cimes in gullywashers, if it snows, it can be full whiteout then gone. I saw hail fall from a clear blue sky once- when the floods hit, they pump water downstream for days to keep the floods below the house roofs. Houses turn green and rot in 5 yrs in sTx, turn dry and burn in wTx. The east Tx pines have enough pines to chew that they forget and chew on wooden parts of houses...
Not surprised abt the fracking- tho I was under the impression the area near DFW was more gas than oil wells. Such as out in W Tx its the mineral deposits in the ground that taint the land.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Lol Gypsy, I'm pretty sure absolute power corrupts absolutely and runs rampant all of over these United States.

Fort Worth, TX

it is mostly gas, but Azle and Irving are having a lot of earthquakes from fracking. I am looking at property outside of DFW

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Think Robin is right, just some are worse than others. Love all the pictures you guys.

Fort Worth, TX

I will go with the whole dunks. And if Texans look up from working all the time (a luxury of a decent job market) Austin could get a bit of a house-cleaning, which it needs. We have had some Texas size crooks. But yes, absolute power corrupts absolutely and I think it is all over the world, not even just the US.

now we have a beautiful spring like day and I am through all of the olympus files and found the pics I need to do my bids. Too wet to work outdoors at all, going out to feed the chicks though.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Texas always elected its officials on the theory that if the liars were smart enough not to get caught and furthered Texas interests, they'd last til nex sundown.
No green, looks like snow, but Windy City is in full gale.

Kitt - that makes sense! Don't know if it's gonna work for the AG. Can I quote you on that and share it with my daughters, best explanation of texas politics I have ever seen?

Lol Kitt, that's a good one!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes Kitt ,, all that is ,, Texans play to win , and they think of tomorrow ,, A good cheat or lie that lasts to a purpose ,, if a good purpose ? .. then the old ,, Well we will find out in a while ,, comes to mind ,,

I have another Black Bamboo sprout it looks like , The two I have are not true growing sprouts yet , only a green tag with a hair root hanging out ,
A few weeks will tell ,, 2 Fargesia rufa two Moso ,, so far ,,
I posted that to much ,, not many are interested ,,
Chlorophyll popping these are much better results than Zero !!!
