Sorry to hear that "M". Sending lots of (((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

The guy I hired to do leaves just got here, well 3:30pm
Hard to even imagine how much he can do in such a short while, said he would work till dark but hoped it would be done, at least a full sweep before he leaves.

Impressed with the right equipment just how much you can get done

I want me some of those toys

Our tenant - what a maroon! (I know, moron, but he's both LOL)
We found a "notice of objection" to our notice to vacate, on the outside of our door just now.
It referres to section 26 (1) and section 29 (1) and when I researched it, I found it refers to BRITISH COLUMBIA law, not ALBERTA law, which is where the rental is, and where we live LOL For instance, it says (in his document) that a landlord must be given permission by the tenant to enter the premises. In actual fact, the tenant cannot refuse entry of property or building (in Alberta law). He's saying our reasons for the notice "are not material. He thinks he's quoting AB law (as he says in his notice of objection) and he's not!!
Guess we're going to court!! Bob's gone upstairs to let our landlords know.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well said Barb, sometimes things are so overwhelming you just can't share

Adding prayers

Omg Susan, now how did I know they wouldn't go easy..what a time of it you will have

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

We haven't packed or done anything to move, because we knew we couldn't trust them to do the right thing. I'll call Residential Tenancy tomorrow and see what they suggest. I know we'll be going to Court - that's a given.

btw - Marcel to Grace & Robert that if we were to leave our suite, he would go into it to check the electrical. I told Bob No Way do we want him in our home. If they want to take advantage of the offer AFTER we move out, they can. I don't want him in our home EVER.

Grace & Robert said they're happy to let us continue to live here. We really can't afford it, but.... what the heck - it's home for now. ........I just wish our landlords weren't so Noisy!!! It's tough living in a home where there's no sound barrier between them above us (kitchen above the living room, and living room above our bedroom, and they're major night owls - eat dinner at 10pm, and don't go to sleep until 2 / 3 / 4am) Ah well, it's home for the moment, and beggars can't be choosers.

Betty, when I saw some of them with knitted scarfs, I thought of Barb. All you talented ladies could make some adorable ones.

Marilyn, I am so sad the news is not good. Please keep us informed and let us know if there is anything we can do. You and Gord are in our prayers.

Diane, this week was a bad week. Two appointments, two days in a row. But today's appointment was a check on his pace maker. He had his shower, I cut his hair, especially the ones that grown behind his ears and his eye brows. Then I gave him a flashlight and a mirror so he would realize what he was missing with his electric razor. Only way you can convince him is to show him and I do it nicely and like it is his idea. I always make his appointments in the early afternoon. The blood draw was early because he needed to fast. And I usually try to have only one appointment a week. That did not work this week. He and I do fine as long as we do not need to leave the house. He is getting physically weaker everyday. But so far we get it done together, just slowly.

Susan, so sorry about the sinful people you have as tenants. Such an evil man.

I have an appointment with a neighbor tomorrow. Last week she got a water bill for $4303. Has had two experts trying to find the leak. She is new to the neighborhood and told by a neighbor if any one could find the leak, it would be me. So I have volunteered to go down the street and look around. I am taking a supervisor from the HOA landscape. I did find a very large leak on my property a few years back but it was totally by accident. But I do know where to look.

So I am going to go clean up the kitchen. Vern wanted a milk shake for dinner. So not much to do. I have done two loads of wash this evening and have one more to do. Just easier to do it at night and fold it in the morning.I also have some ironing that needs to be done.

Hugs to you all.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - your saying they're evil is so true, and a thought that I've thought so many times. She says she's Christian (he doesn't), but no Christian treats another this way.

Sorry to hear your appointments aren't coinciding as well as they might.
Only a milk shake? He's not doing very well then.
Good that your neighbours have the confidence in you that they do. Nice to have such positive reinforcement :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Woke with Gord and "M" on my mind so said a prayers..hugs "M"

Sharon, do hope Vern knows what a gem he has in you..what great care he is being given!
Guess after all these years you've come up with a strategy not to make him feel he is a burden, God bless you Earth Angel.

Susan, no words, let's hope the courts act quickly..did you respond re not B.C. law he was quoting?

Think I am going to take a quick run to Walmart..they open at 7
Maria is coming at 10am to do her 3 snowmen blocks, shouldn't take more than 2-3 hrs then I'm free into 6:30 when the gals come
Busy day, just how I like them

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We will be leaving in a bit to see my surgeon. Please pray I get an answer today.

Thoughts and prayers coming your way LindaK

Travel safe, and, good luck ..

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Are you home "M"?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OK .. even though I am still in a state of shock, I am going to try and fill you in on 'the trip' to Toronto to the most incredibly GIGANTIC facility I have ever been to .. and, happily, filled with bright and knowledgeable people heel bent on helping, AND, carrying out their jobs with a SMILE !!!!
From our first cab driver from the airport, to the last cabbie dropping us off .. we interacted with wonderful human beings.
Unfortunately, even with all their education and brain power, they could not change Gordon's situation with his eyes without surgery .. this will take place on January 12, and, we will be in Toronto for 4 days as he will need to be monitored in her office 2 or 3 tines after the surgery.
I am still assimilating all this news .. and so much happened above and beyond the eye apt .. some funny, some not ..
Suffice it to say we are boonswoggeled ..

Sharon .. you need a hug .. bless you for your care of Vern,
Lorna's Mom is also just a power house (at 86) and looks after Lorna's Dad like he is a KING .. sometimes she smothers him .. he is totally dependant on her.

Will write more later .. have to get ready for today ..

HUGS and thanks

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update, at least now it looks like they have a plan to take care of it. Will keep you all in our prayers till it is complete.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Although overwhelming "M" they do have a plan of action and one that can help Gord, thank the Lord and a special thanks that you encountered wonderful people..knowing is always better than not! Now Gord can get the carpeltunnel surgery and be healed ready to take on the eye surgery. I would say January is fairly soon to be booked in based on surgery track record..in some ways I'm sure you are relieved.

Best of luck Lindakay, may you also get a booking date, know you are beyond angry with the situation..we are there holding your hands as well.

Maria called, still has a bit of nausea since last chemo and with moving in a few weeks think she is overdoing. LeVes me all on my own today, been getting used to people around so tad lonely. Lol..am sure tonight gals will make up for it. Lol

Poor young lad, got here and started to rain but he is well dressed and bound the yard will be finished..likely 1/2 he left then he is on to another location.

I made muffins, brought him out one and coffee to warm him up..I wanted to pay him but he said his boss would be around to collect. Best I minus my Joanns shopping list😝

Brought in the little Xmas tree for downstairs, I'll make him into a snowman, will give me something to play with today..almost used up all the scraps on the table that Rita brought, likely put these sets away for next year, or is it for the year following..Rita told me to put a name and year on them so if I pass on they can be given out, too funny, almost makes sense

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

M, sending tight armwraps and prayers continue.

it's a rainy kind of day...I'm putting off running to the store. Have a baby shower to attend.
Glad you got the yard work done, Betty. Jake did ours the other day. Couldn't believe how much work it was, lol.

going to get something to eat.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Marilynne - so glad you have wonderful people helping you through this. I agree with Betty - Jan 12 is short order, and that's a blessing. It certainly is a shorter time frame than I may have expected.

We're filing for a court order to have our tenants vacate.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sending good thoughts for a surgery date LK. Glad Todd is going with. Have a safe trip.

Marilynne, I know it was quite upsetting to hear surgery, but looking for a silver lining...Gord has a positive solution to the problem. Got to think that is a much better answer than to have had the doc say nothing would help. Small consolation and does little to reduce the stress, but I have learned that sometimes even a small positive thing it worthwhile. Sending you big hugs and positive thoughts.

Betty, take advantage of the break today and treat yourself. How are your Mom and Aunt Muriel doing?

Heading back out...got MIL's laundry done and need to take it back to her. Hope you all have a pleasant, calm day.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Spoke to Residential Tenancy and:
1. Even with impending winter, and a baby, we can still evict our tenants
2. Tenants quoted BC law, and tried to Object to our "breach of tenancy", but this is Alberta
3. We could have filed for a court hearing even though we'd served them with an eviction notice. We did not have to wait until they had not vacated on the date of eviction.......... Nov 15th. Damn..... this could have been over by now - oh well, we're moving forward now.

We'll file for the court hearing today, and it will be heard in 2 to 3 weeks, then WE have to follow up with the eviction as per Court Order.
If they don't vacate, the WE have to follow up with the bailiff who will evict within 1 to 2 days.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well guys I am no angel. Just been at it a while and read some books about care giving, especially with someone with dementia. After I got in my routine, I m doing fine but when I was trying to get Vern to fit in my schedule it was a disaster. So now I just work around him and if he wants to stay in bed until 11am, I just let him. But we do go to bed at the same time and I have control of the remote. I have the remote because he messes it up. But I record his programs and we watch his programs. I watch over the top of my laptop and half way watch TV.

Marilyn, I am totally relieved his problem can be helped with surgery. Vern had a detached retina and nothing could be done. He is blind in one eye. It is absolutely what they can do today that thy could not do just a few years ago.

I just fed Vern and my garden helper. I now have to straighten up the kitchen, take the dogs for their first walk and then straightened up our bedroom and also try to do some gardening. The weather is beautiful but my coleus got froze last night.

I will return later in the evening. Linda, keeping good thought about your appointment.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - I could not do what you do, dealing with Vern with dementia. You're a strong woman, bless you.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Ended up with a 'free day' today .. Lorna's Dad wasn't feeling well and he opted to stay in bed, so, her Mom wouldn't leave him (good idea) so Lorna and I went to town and did some shopping ..
I bought a roast for the slow cooker for Saturday .. a 5lb blade roast, the butcher wants to know how the recipe turns out ..
SO .. I put the roast in the crock pot .. sprinkle it with a packet of Au Jus and dry ranch dressing, and, I/2 cup of butter .. cook it on 'high' for 8 hours?
Want to make sure I have it right ..
And .. if I put carrots/potatoes in they should be put in an hour before it's done ?
It'll be the last meal I will cook before the parents leave on Sunday morning ...

LindaK .. how'd things turn out for ya ?

Sharon .. being a caregiver is T O U G H .. when Lorna first had her amp, I basically became her 'runner' .. she was amazing, never had ONE bad day .. woke up after her SIX surgeries .. left legless .. and, she pushed forward , never looked back ..but .. you, and Lorna's Mom are in a league of your own ..

Betty .. that fella sure put a HUGE dentin those leaves !!

Jean .. you're another one of those 'earth angels' .. hope the MinL is holding her own .. thanks for the comments re Gord .. we are very fortunate to have a date that quickly, and, access to all kinds of new innovations ..

Susan .. good luck with all this eviction stuff .. I just cannot help thinking that these people are somehow 'deranged' !

supper is done .. ate at 1:30 .. starting to like this .. :-)

Did someone say their was a thread with Santa Warrens 'likes' on it ..as in what your buddy would appreciate or want ..??

Kinda miss Karen .. hope she's having a good time ..

BBL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.
Cooked it yesterday for dinner, for us, and our landlords upstairs (we ate at 5pm, and they ate at 10pm). All declared tasty :-)

yeah, Marcel is deranged, and he's dragged Carolyn into his nightmare, but won't drag us too..... We live in the world of mental health!!

We will be in our home before Christmas, just not sure the week or day.
We have to serve the Court notice 3 days before the court date, and have to make sure they vacate as per the Court document. If they don't, WE have to arrange for a bailiff.... dammit

Evening all,

Checking in, wondering how Lindakay made out, don't like that she didn't post, big sigh

Busy day, just tidied the craft room, girls come at 6:30 to 9:30 so I've an entire hour to sit and I need it!

Went to the post office, only thing there was the Stokes Seed catalogue..glad I got all the gardens and property done, looks so nice

Darlene dropped in to say bye, I leave tomorrow and she leaves Saturday morning, wish her well..will be different for her for sure. He will stay 2 weeks then fly home and return mid January for the rest of the season.

It's not a wonder "M" that Lorna is tired, having a rest today will give him more energy for me pat few days..

Yes that is the recipe, I don't do my potatoes or vefpggies in it, says up all the gravey..doesn't take long for vefpggies on the stove..think Sharon tried it though.

Sharon did you find where the break in the water was??

Karen must be really enjoying herself not to be posting..know she was going to have a hectic few weeks.

Thunder is likely sewing up a storm

Susan, I so do hope you can be home by Christmas, my instincts tell me it won't be that easy to evict them regardless of what is on the books

Deb, when do you leave with the dog?

Sharon ads was telling me yesterday that her puppies will soon go to their homes..think she is going to keep 1 or 2 for a bit and watch to see if there are any champion in them

Pouring rain here

Need legs and arms for my snowman, tomorrow is another day. Lol

SNOWING here .. might stay, but, not for long, just a bit messy .. ..

Kind of worrying re LK too .. hoping the news is good ..

Thanks for the recipe update Susan .. I woulda used HIGH .. likely caught it, but ya never know.
Lorna's Mom has a 'touchy tummy' .. should I worry .. as in, is it spicy ??

Getting weary, have forms to fill out for the trip down to Toronto .. put a huge amount on my Visa for airfare !!

Enjoy your evening

~M~

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

How about using a scarf with gloves attached to the ends and wrapping it around the tree like the snowman is hugging the tree?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I may have misread, but thought LK said her appointment was at 1PM? I know it is a 3 hour drive from her home to the doctor's office and think they were going to have lunch also. So she may not be home until well after dark.

I ran across this set of free patterns to knit slippers for folks with diabetes. Just in case any of you are interested.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - Residential Tenancy of Alberta said any of the 3 reasons for eviction are enforceable and it will only take 2 to 3 weeks to get a hearing with a judge (clerk of the court?), and then once it's enforced with a court order, the tenants have to leave when we say. We don't have to give any further notice. We can direct a bailiff to remove them forcibly, if they don't leave when we say. A bailiff has a 1 to 2 day turnaround from the time we call them, to when they physically move the tenants out. I'll ask the court what they say is a reasonable time for the tenants to be out. I think it can be 24 hours..........
We will be in before Christmas

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Still don't know when I need to take the dog back to NJ. Heard from his owner, she was in the ER a couple of times and now her husband is in the hospital with pneumonia. She said she'd call after the big Philly show (which is this weekend). So, I'm hoping by early next week, I'll have an idea of when he goes home. Once he goes home, I'm hoping to bring my boy in Colorado home. Right now, just too many boys in the house.

Deb

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Lucky for you, Susan, that it is so easy to evict a tenant in Alberta. Here it can take 6 months to a year! Anything going through the court system here takes forever!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, had hoped to see a posting from Lindakay
Hope it doesn't means that the meeting with doctor did not go well!

Was hoping Deb you would have gone while weather is cooperating.

Let's hope it works that easy for you Susan.

Well, I'm really tired, fun night, glad it's bed time

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, meant to thank you for the slipper pattern and for suggestions for my snowman tree.
How often do you have to do mil's wash?

Janice who was here tonight and whom I know for forever brought her cousin, they were gabbing away, seems her cousin Nancy is thought to have a cancerous tumor, will get results these week, hard seeing her husband Gary just got out of the hospital and has to have air, hard times

Hey wait, my cousin Gary and his wife Nancy are undergoing same

Wouldn't you know they are the same people..what a small world

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am home . Hip replacement surgery is 22 Deviations.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hurrah, now who would say hurrah for hopping replacement but it is great news, soon you will be minus the pain.

22nd of November? Or did the iPad change December to the word deviations?if it's December, yuk, just days before Xmas

You must be exhausted

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

22 February is what LK just posted on another thread. A bit of a wait, but at least you have a date and something to work toward. Did Dr give you anything to help with the pain in the meantime?

Do MIL's laundry 2 to 3 times a week depending, sometimes more, sometimes less. The NH has laundry, but MIL is very particular about how her clothes are taken care of.

What a "small world" coincidence, that you both were talking about the same couple

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Crud, had a huge post &lost it.
Trip home from TN was brutal, 15 hours
I've been feeling well for quite some time. I've been short of breath and unable to walk more than a few feet. I was steadily getting worse day by day. I called my dr. from TN and made an appointment for this morning. I also realized I was very pale. When I got to dr. she immediately said I needed to go to hospital. So here I am again. My heart is fine, it has been thoroughly tested. What has been going on is I am losing blood....more than half of it in fact. For the next few days, I will be poked & prodded to see where I sprung a leak. Meanwhile they are adding back what I have lost. Already I feel a bit better and I no longer blend in with the sheets.
I have to miss a QOV presentation next Sunday and that is very upsetting. I realize there is no way I could have made it. I was mostly unaware of the trip home.
