Welcome Carole, Happy to see you on this thread too. Lots of cat lovers here but that doesn't define us, Always ready to chat about anything and everything. We prop each other up when needed, and if we are the one who needs to lean, this is a good place for it.
Suite 313. Sweet Interruptions.
Kathy and Karen, I hope you both are doing well.
I definitely need to lean right now - in more ways than one. My doctor gave me a blood pressure med that makes me so dizzy I can hardly stand up, nauseated, staggering around like a drunk. The thing that makes me a little angry is that he gave me that same thing before and I couldn't tolerate it then, so why would it be much different now? Isn't that the definition of "insanity" (doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome). Well, I have to drive and do chores, take care of myself and so forth, not to mention the simple fact that I'd also like to feel good for the upcoming holidays. I know there are other bp meds. I'm going back to see him Tuesday. The receptionist wan't very helpful about giving me another appointment so soon. I finally had to threaten to go off the med altogether. That finally got me an appointment on Tuesday. Grrrr. Usually my doctor is very good but he really messed up this time.
Okay, that's my gripe for the day. :)
Good for you Carole, You have to be proactive in your health care. We know our bodies better than anyone else. If you've taken a med that worked, tell him, if not tell him you need different ingredients that don't send you reeling & rocking. Before you leave his office make another appointment for a few days away, just in case you are still having problems. If the new med is better, fine you can cancel the appt. but if not, you can get right back in.
Glad to see you here Carole. I hope you get your meds adjusted soon.
Hi Carole! Glad you've joined our little group!
Wish I'd known earlier as I just got back from a trip to Nashville and I would have come by to give you a hug!!
Please feel comfortable here.
The med I was taking isn't working well anymore. :( I am very unhappy because I'd had a bad reaction before so why risk it again Sometimes doctors have their own plan and, by golly, that's what they are going to do because they are the professionals.
Karen, you are so right that you have to be proactive. I had to constantly fight doctors on my hubby's behalf. And who is that good-looking child in you avatar?
Linda. Always happy to see you too. :)
Thank you very much, Joyce. Seems like a great group.
That's my gdg in law Stephanie. I post the grands and greats who have the next upcoming b'day. I started using the adults pictures when they were kids as it was confusing when I used a now pic and they are on FB too. She's actually going to be 31 on her b'day.
I have chronic runs and kept telling my Dr. that one of my meds got flushed away within an hour of taking it. Argued with me every time saying it was impossible for anything to go through my system that fast. Nurses at the hosp. finally recorded it as they were keeping track of all my ins and outs. Dr. cancelled that drug.
Awwwwww. I think if I had one, I'd have to name it Popeye.
A friend of mine named her Pekingese, Duck for the Chinese recipe.
Oh that made me chuckle out loud!
I could have sworn you told me you got a Pomeranian! Autumn sure is adorable. I hope she adjusts soon and starts eating and drinking like a big girl.
So far I have my Australian tree fern in the house. The dwarf tree fern is repotted and will come in as soon as I make a place for it. Only about a dozen more to take care of! It's a wonderful day to be outside.
Good you had some objective observers. When I go back Tuesday I will tell him I'm not going to take that particular med anymore. This is the first time I've known him to be so stubborn.
What an adorable dog, Kathy. Autumn is a great name ... and my favorite season of the year. :)
It's a beautiful day here too. 70* and sunny,
Autumn is so cute!! Great name for her.
NOT a beautiful day here, it has been in the high 90's and got to 103 yesterday. I want to go out and get some clean up done, but just too hot to even attempt it. I wish we would get some autumn temps. Our summer wasn't this hot. Always glad to hear cooler weather is coming, but I need it now.
Kathy, she is so precious. But be careful. You those puppies love to chew things.
Hey Jean. Nice to see you pop in too.
Lurking as usual. LK...but am keeping your sons and you in my daily thoughts. Hoping for a quick and gentle resolution.
Hello Everyone,
Carole so sorry for your loss. I was widowed 10 yrs ago and to this day it's still hard. I miss him more and more everyday...All we can do is take one day at a time

You're Welcome Carole
I hope they do look as pretty as their pictures come Spring..............
Welcome, Carole!! Lean all you like :-)
I am so sorry for your loss.
I was taking meds for my arthritic knees, and when one stopped working the Dr stepped it up to the stronger one. When I ran out, he put me on the 1st one which stopped working. The pharmacist checked the records, and walked over to his office to get it changed (thank goodness they're just across the hall from each other, and our Dr is very easy to see and approachable).
Cindy I am impressed the way you know the names of your flowers. I have lots of flowers but just know what I like. I keep telling myself to put a stake down with the names on them but don't seem to get that done.
Its 3am and I am awake I guess it is time to watch Bonanza a little Loran Green and I will be back to sleep.
My garden is sleeping only rhubarb is left. I miss the fresh veggies already. I am perusing the seed catalogs and will buy some soon.
A blurb just came on the tv some guy grew a 1500 lb and another pumpkin just over 2000 pounds wow. Makes our 400 pounder seem like a baby lol.. I buy good seed from big pumpkins but can't seem to get over 500 pounds boo hiss.
Susan, that's great that you have such easy access. And thank you for the welcome and condolences. Medications can be very problematic. I'm fairly sensitive to meds because I haven't taken very many over the course of the years. I'd like to go to our local Community Center for the senior exercise sessions so I've got to have a different med. Hard to exercise if I can hardly walk. The center is only about a mile away.
Ernie, when we lived in Norcal we drove to the Tahoe area and toured the Ponderosa. It was a tourist attraction back then. I remember what a big kick my mother got out of that trip. It's being developed into something else now.

Carole - I know what you mean about walking - for longer distances I now use a walker because of my arthritic knees
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian neighbours! We will be having Turkey Day today :-)
Just the two of us, but guess that's ok, too :-)
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day to all our neighbors to the north.
See that short grey hair Asian across your screen waving??
Hello Family!! Hello Jean.. Carole!!! So good to see you both here.
Ai yi yi!!! Peking Duck? Lololol. I am expecting quacks not barks from that furkid, Jean! Too funny. Imagine it's the skin that's to be savored? The original dish that is.
Yes Carole, as Susan proclaimed, you can lean on us. This is a great group, may be small but have oversized hearts! I am proof too that there is no limit as to how much you can vent!
Cindy you're not a dummy, just forgot to include the names. I agree with Ernie, it's amazing you remember what they're called.
They are so, so pretty. And yes, I love the darker ones.
Happy Anniversary Sis Kathy and Rebel! Watch out for Autumn you cannot be Fall~ing all over her!
Now I am a confirmed dummy.
Got Kel's truck as he has day classes at the prison, and can't bring Muffin Man to the vet to remove it's drainage.
Thought, aha! I can make that trip to the post office as well. Dumb, dumb, dumb.. forgot tis Columbus Day and I just have to hang on to the package for another day!
Hopefully tomorrow, I can convince him to drop him off again.
Anyway, I took advantage and did a whirlwind shopping at WM all for myself.
Like new shoes, new clothes.... Kel is oblivious to what I wear anyway!
Yes it feels so good to be putting on new shoes!
You all have a wonderful day.
YAY for you Jaye!!!
Jaye, thank you. I forgot about today being a holiday too.
Well, you know what they say - when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. A little retail therapy is good for the soul.
Indeed, indeed, indeed Karen!! Happy Days are here again!!
Oh wait.. I forgot to tell you all this!!
You all know I need surgeries soon.. cataract.. hip replacement.. besides the EKG and labworks that Medicaid now could help.
I don't know how to go about hiding these from him, until one of our sisters here suggest that I "lie" about a new thing SS has, that a destitute like me that's single or widowed, even though may not qualify for SSD or SSI, still can get Medicaid if the health is serious enough.
Wonder how am I gonna pull that one ..
Saturday morning I kinda fibbed to Kel that I need to go to the SSI office one day and check on my status, since the last letter was about employment info. (The letter which he opened, remember).
Then later that day, he picked up the mail, and lo and behold, my Medicaid cards came in!
Nope, he didn't open the mail this time, but was waiting for me to open it.
I should have won an oscar. I acted surprised, bewildered and kept asking him whether HE had inadvertently thrown away the notice of approval.
He kept saying no, and even used a magnifying glass to read the letter, front and back.. fine print understood and kept saying.. if it's the real deal.
Told him if must be, if it's fraud, it won't bear the return address of the SS office.
God was with me, got to be quick, so, I did a FB message to that sister.. "told" her the good news. And quick thinker her, messaged him saying she knew I'd get the card as her friend was approved too, even though the money doesn't come with it
Carole, family here has been worrying about the Jaye that has lost her zest for life. Thank God, He makes sure I will be alright.
I hope you had been following my case, if you had not, I had to resort to lying to him to protect myself.
Had to post that first part as cats are jumping all over the keyboard!!
When he went to work Saturday night, he asked his co workers whether Medicaid is better than Medicare.
Then he told me this morning, he found out that there would be a toy company coming to town looking for sewers like me. But that wouldn't be good for me as I'd lose the Medicaid and moreover, that small company won't have benefits. Snd that means HE has to fork out dough, and my truck needed to be fixed. He agreed that I should keep the card!!
See.. he's still thinking of ways for me to earn something.
Aha!!! He'd have to let me use the truck tomorrow! I'll tell him that I'll have to go to the Food Stamps office.
God is so good. He'll understand why I'm doing this.
Sis Jaye, glad things are finally turning around for you.
Happy to hear you have finally got help from SS. Don't know what I would do without their help. Wow, got new shoes & clothes you are on your way to better times.
Carole, I was widowed a year ago in July and talking to DG'ers has been a great help. It was so hard at first, but I'm doing fine now and you will be fine too.
Summer weather still here and not liking it. How can the weatherman talk of frost and first snowfall for many when I can' remember what cool weather is. Can't work in the yard and so much work to do.
I am so glad to hear you went shopping for yourself Jaye.
When do you start seeing the Dr.
Don't worry in the least about lying to the jerk. He sure has lied to you enough.
Lying seems to be going around here, too. Those tenants of ours have lied their way through their entire 4 months of living in our place.....
Hello Friends!!!
Ernie and Jaye, I am a cheater lol........ I know the names of my flowers because when I order them I keep pics with names :) I do this so that when I share them my friends know what they are getting
Jaye did you know that you can go to the Social Security website and setup an account?? As a matter of fact anyone collecting SS can. And for those of us that get SSDI we will be getting a 20% cut by this time next year :( Getting dang scary for me doesn't give me much to live on and being single now makes it even harder :(
Very warm here to Pegi, so warm my daughter let the kids play in the pool
Going home soon and off for the next 3 days, told my daughter I need to cut back for awhile so we will see how long it last................
morning, am feeling puny today so i didn't go to the gym. i get excersise by chasing after Autumn al day. she is always into something
